03:22 schuster chris - when I did git branch I see master and *mywork
03:22 chris that means you are on the mywork branch
03:23 schuster ok - so what should I do to get this up to the current head?
03:24 chris current master .. what you do is git fetch
03:24 chris git rebase origin/master
03:24 schuster and it doesn't matter which branch I'm in right?
03:25 chris yes it does
03:25 schuster so which branch do I want to be in when I do that?
03:25 chris depends, i dont know what you use mywork for
03:25 chris id probably do it on master first
03:25 chris git checkout master
03:26 schuster ok - I'm pretty sure there isn't anything in mywork -
03:27 schuster it tells me master is up to date.
03:27 chris you did the fetch and rebase eh?

06:12 zen hello
06:14 kf hi zen
06:16 zen i am working @branch library and i am installing koha 3.0.06 and i want to integtated my koha with the main library koha
06:17 Elwell_ joined #koha
06:17 Elwell left #koha
06:18 kf zen: what do you mean by integrating? a
06:20 zen kf: we use different koha servers when my patrons wants to search data @main library they should have to open the main server
06:21 kf so you don't want to share one catalog?
06:21 zen no,what i want is there any mechansim that i can have a copy of the main library at my koha server.
06:22 kf I am not sure how to do it
06:22 kf perhaps you could use oai
06:22 kf I read some people have done similar things, but we have never done something like that
06:24 zen i try to google it but the most result i have got is integration with SIP something like.
06:25 kf sip is for self checkout
06:25 kf checkout, return, patron info
06:25 kf oai-pmh
06:26 kf or perhaps pazpar2
06:27 kf perhaps you could also do something on mysql level
06:27 kf but what would the copy on your server be good for?

06:29 kf hi Amit

06:30 zen kf: for example i am working at agriculture library so in my database there is only agriculture bibliographic data when user wants  IT data he should have to open the main koha server.
06:31 kf hm, sounds complicated for the user :)
06:32 kf but why have a copy? can't he acces the main koha server via internet?
06:34 zen it is not a good a solution cause the branch is far 100 mile from main and the interent is not stable, but if i can dump the bibliographic data of the main library the user can easily  get the data.
06:36 kf hm ok, but he will not be able to place holds or see the real availablity
06:38 zen the question is can we integrate (connect) two mysql databases from different koha servers

11:35 hdl sorry
11:35 kf no problem
11:36 kf we already have one library using rfid
11:36 kf but with another vendor
11:36 kf 3M called and asked about Koha and SIP and I told them there are already other libraries using 3M - no searching for examples
11:36 kf now
11:37 hdl we have many libraries using that atm
11:37 hdl Mines paris-tech  Lyon3 for instance
11:37 kf great, thx
11:37 kf is the old doc still relevant?

11:39 kf cool - thx for your help!
11:39 hdl kf: there is a wrapper for perl -I./ ./SIPServer.pm ./SIPServer.xml >~/sip_log.out 2>~/sip_log.err &
11:39 hdl sip_start
11:41 kf ?
11:41 kf sorry, I don't understand
11:42 kf I know about the xml configuration file, but the start/stop/reset things is my coworker's part
11:42 kf :)
11:42 hdl i.e. rather than using perl -I./ ./SIPServer.pm ./SIPServer.xml >~/sip_log.out 2>~/sip_log.err &
11:43 hdl use sip_run.sh  SIPServer.xml ~/sip_log.out ~/sip_log.err
11:43 kf do yoour libraries renew via sip?
11:43 hdl I think so
11:44 hdl it is also managed and controlled in the 3M configuration interface
11:44 kf hm?
11:44 hdl you can enable it i
11:44 hdl in SIPconfig.xml
11:45 kf ah, I think we did that
11:45 hdl But you also have to  enable that on the selfcheckout engine
11:45 kf but our tests were a bit problematic
11:51 kf ok, thx a lot again :)
11:51 kf today is crazy friday - a lot of phone calls
11:54 kf hdl: are those libraries using "standard" koha, or did you have to change something to make it all work?
11:58 kf nah, I believe it will work - it does for our other library too.
12:08 nengard got a question about issues - i'm looking at data in my system and it looks like once an item is marked lost it is no longer in the issues table or the old_issues table ...does a record of that checkout just disappear?
12:08 hdl kf: it is standard SIP
12:08 hdl service
12:09 kf hdl: great :)
12:09 kf nengard: ouch
12:09 nengard if it disappears - um - yes - ouch

12:53 nengard okay - a different question - when does the HOLDPLACED notice get sent? Where does this come into play? it's not a choice on enhanced messages

12:55 kf nengard: the notice send to the librarian that a hold was placed
12:55 nengard OH RIGHT!!!
12:55 nengard Thank you :)
12:56 kf you are welcome :)
12:56 kf I think it was not really working for a long time and the sample notice is quite new too

15:23 jcamins :)
15:24 jcamins I thought that might help a bit.
15:25 jcamins My wife (wow does it feel weird to say that!) was very impressed that it came out... she was predicting disaster based on the maniacal laughing and complete lack of a plan, but it turns out you can use a berry crumble recipe to make chocolate pudding and cake by replacing the berries with water/gelatin/chocolate, and the biscuit topping with cake/cookie batter. :)
15:26 wizzyrea lol
15:26 jcamins Berry cobbler, sorry. I always get the two confused. :)
15:26 wizzyrea you must be happy
15:26 wizzyrea because you were cooking with your feelings, and happy people get good results ;)
15:27 wizzyrea whenever we have a "I don't have a plan for dinner I"m cooking with my feelings" the hubs and I always ask each other if we're feeling happy

15:29 jcamins Heh. That's a good point.
15:29 wizzyrea and we know it's just better to order in if we're not feeling happy ;)
15:30 jcamins But, of course I'm happy... I got married a week ago, and I was baking something with chocolate! (the heat is really starting to get to me... it had been ages since I baked anything with chocolate)
15:31 jcamins (to clarify, I can't bake really when it's hot out, because we'd die of heat prostration if we used the oven... and baking is one of my favorite activities)

15:32 sekjal hopefully this heat will knock off after Labor Day

15:36 wizzyrea lol, how sad.
15:36 wizzyrea to admit that.

15:37 jcamins On a Koha-related subject: is it possible to create a framework based on a template record?
15:37 wizzyrea that would certainly be epic to be able to do that
15:37 wizzyrea creating frameworks is so painful.

16:47 sekjal has anyone in here tried following up on the removal of tablesort from the circ/circulation.pl screen, in order to improve checkout speed?
16:48 sekjal this was brought up on the list a little while ago
16:51 wizzyrea you know what, I can't even remember a single time I've seen someone actually sort that table
16:52 wizzyrea you know the one that needs to be sorted and isn't? The holds queue report.
16:52 wizzyrea s/sorted/sortable
16:52 sekjal I'm thinking of adding a system preference to toggle Tablesort on the circ page
16:53 sekjal it really seems to be slowing people down, and it'd be nice if they could opt to make the tradeoff

17:33 jcamins Do we have any documentation that explains using Koha for people who have never used a library catalog?
17:35 jcamins Ooh, it looks like we have some videos on YouTube.
17:40 jcamins nengard++
17:41 nengard hehe
17:41 nengard there are a lot of videos on youtube
17:41 nengard they're not all me
17:41 nengard i just compiled the list
17:41 nengard i assume you found this: http://www.youtube.com/group/kohails
17:41 jcamins Yeah, that's what I'm looking at.
17:42 jcamins Now I just need to craft a diplomatic message which points out that patrons spend more time waiting for me to do a search for them than they would spend watching the videos.
17:52 jcamins Hm. All the videos seem to include words like "OPAC" or "keyword." Understandably, of course.
17:52 chris_n wow.. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/38[…]news-asiapacific/
17:53 chris_n hope the NZ folks are ok

18:50 Braedon was anyone in that building?
18:50 chris nope, luckily
18:50 chris thats manchester street, all businesses so would be mostly empty
18:52 Braedon in auckland a lot of business upstairs floors like that are flats

19:16 chris night i think, more scary but less people in office blocks
19:16 moodaepo Probably bad either way for different reasons
19:16 chris at least in christchurch most people live in single story houses
19:17 Braedon yeah, depends on the buildings. NZ probably better at night

20:27 gmcharlt indradg: not to my knowledge; it would mostly be a matter of a lot of bookkeeping (setting up MARC frameworks, indexing configs, display configs, etc.)
20:28 gmcharlt but (assuming that community info records were the only thing residing in the database) you could treat them as bibs
20:29 gmcharlt making CI records live alongside bib records would take more work
