05:53 mtj hi cait
05:54 mtj hey peeps, does anyone run memcache on their koha?
05:54 mtompset Not I.
05:54 mtompset Morning, cait.
05:54 mtompset Greetings, mtj.
05:54 mtj i think i've spotted a weird fwrk bug, with memcache
05:55 mtj hiya mtompset
05:55 mtompset Would that be related to Memoize::Memcached?
05:55 bag morning cait
05:56 mtompset Because, as a sidenote, tcohen just took over maintainence of that. :)
05:56 bag hmm mtj I think we have memcache on two of our servers iirc
05:56 mtj my hunch is that after fwrk is modified,  the new fwrk is not cached correctly
05:57 mtj ie: i edited a fwrk, saved it, checked the database ok… but after that - the old fwrk settings are still showing in the fwrk editor
05:58 mtj specifically changing the 'hidden' value of a subfield
05:59 cait mtj: we don't
05:59 mtj looks like its an unreported bug
05:59 cait mtj: that's correct, you need to wait long or restart i think
05:59 cait ah
05:59 cait i only knew it took a while for the changes to show up
06:01 mtj ok ok .. so there is a deliberately long cache timeout, for the fwrk stuff
06:01 * mtj makes some stuff up… :)
06:03 cait mtompset: i commented on the patron import bug - i think your csv is no longer utf-8
06:03 cait or never was, not usre, but cutting off the characters is exactly what it does when you feed a file with wrong encoding... i have been there and Excel is very annoying about that
06:03 mtompset ms excel doesn't give me good options.
06:03 cait no not at all
06:04 cait i switched to libreoffice
06:04 cait much better
06:04 cait you can choose the separator, choose to have "" and choose the right encoding
06:04 mtompset I thought about saving as unicode .txt and renaming
06:04 mtompset but that barfed on import.
06:04 eythian mtj: I just this minute set it up on some servers I'm building.
06:06 cait hm
06:06 eythian and that was the last thing I had to do, so time to go I think.
06:06 cait try using an editor - if you are using windows notepad++ is really nice
06:07 mtompset how can I take a [dos] file and make it utf-8 in linux?
06:07 eythian ASCII is UTF-8.
06:07 eythian but if you have accents and things, then you'll have issues.
06:08 mtompset vi shows me the csv file just fine.
06:08 mtj ta eythian
06:08 eythian vi can be a bit too smart sometimes though

06:53 mtompset Well, I better get sleep. I have a meeting -- today.

06:54 mtompset Silly question... 3.15.00.018 -- what if it fails, and the system updates to 3.15.00.019. How will the 18 ever be reattempted?
06:56 cait you'd get a message it failed
06:56 mtompset I don't like those types of upgrade steps.
06:56 cait and it won't get reattempted
06:56 cait on update it looks at the version in your database
06:56 wajasu bug11369 need signoff patch might need its status changed because bug10952 is in master.
06:56 cait then attempts all databaes updates from that version to the top

09:29 Joubu Does someone know where a date is automatically set to "9999-12-31" using the interface?
09:30 gaetan_B Joubu: i think this is what happens when you debar a patron without specifying an end date
09:30 Joubu gaetan_B: no the date is set to NULL
09:31 Joubu because the following script:
09:31 Joubu use Modern::Perl;use Koha::DateUtils;my $date = '9999-12-31';my $dt = dt_from_string( $date, 'iso' );say output_pref({ dt => $dt });
09:31 Joubu is executed in... 25sec!
09:32 Joubu and it is how the KohaDates TT plugin works
09:32 Joubu So if we try to display this date, the page will be really looong to be displayed
09:33 gaetan_B Joubu: so, not in the interface but i think this is the date that will be set when a patron is automatically debarred because he has overdues items
09:34 gaetan_B when the cronjob processes overdues and generates notices
09:34 gaetan_B and debars patrons which should be debarred after n notices according to the triggers
09:36 Joubu gaetan_B: the debarred date was set to 9999 before the patron debarment rewrite I guess
09:37 gaetan_B ok, maybe that's an old information then
09:37 cait gaetan_B: i think it might have chanced with recent development
09:37 cait dependson the version you look at
09:38 cait first debarred unlimited was 1/0 (before fines in days)
09:38 cait then it got 9999-12-31 when we changed it to be a date
09:38 cait and now it's all in a separate table i think it might be null
09:39 cait there is a recent patch from fridolin around that bug 2720

14:00 marcelr yeah i remember just vaguely
14:00 cait bug 11843
14:00 huginn` Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org[…]_bug.cgi?id=11843 major, P5 - low, ---, koha-bugs, NEW , Manual subscription history doesn't seem to work as expected
14:00 cait it looks like a bug to me
14:00 cait it will just delete any manual additions you made and that contradicts the hints on the page itself and how i remember it
14:00 marcelr it sure sounds that way
14:01 cait francharb: thx for taking a look :)
14:02 cait marcelr: it seems to rely heavily on regex in the past... so is my assumption correct that it would only update but not recreate/overwrite before?
14:02 cait i have to test with an older koha i think
14:04 cait Joubu: did you see my comment on bug 9016? it looks like there are sample templates for phone notices in an update - maybe we missed to add them to sample notices?

14:08 rhcl Bonjour #koha
14:11 Joubu cait: yes I saw it. but since I cannot test the Talking Tech service, I prefer not to change the script.
14:12 cait Joubu: i just think we need to be careful not to break the feature
14:12 Joubu cait: I should not change the existing behavior if I did not update this notice
14:12 cait was not sure if people were aware of its existance
14:12 cait Joubu: sounds good
14:12 cait Joubu: one other thing - could the checkboxes be guided by the prefs activating it? like only show sms if an sms driver is entered into the pref?
14:13 cait it's how we do it on the patron messaging preferences I think
14:13 Joubu cait: yes, it is manage. The existing notice "template" will be put into the email template. If no mtt is given, the email mtt is the default one.
14:14 cait maybe  we could also check phone mtt for those? not sure if it would change the behaviour
14:14 Joubu cait: yes, sounds consistent, I am going to submit a follow-up.
14:14 cait Joubu: i think they shoudl have been added to the sample notices
14:15 Joubu cait: I don't really know when phone is used
14:15 cait but iam not sure why that wasn't done
14:15 cait Joubu: you can tell from the lettercode i think
14:15 cait it's all _PHONE
14:16 cait I saw HOLD OVERDUE PREDUE at least, it seems to be a bit of a mess as usual
14:16 Joubu cait: not really, the letter code is "*_PHONE" for now, but it should be moved into the phone mtt of the overdue notice

14:16 cait hm?
14:16 cait I thin it's ODUE_PHONE

14:17 marcelr sorry transport type
14:18 marcelr (lazy question)
14:18 Joubu marcelr: yes, there is no way to remove them from the interface
14:18 marcelr quick reply
14:18 marcelr thx
14:18 cait there are prefs that could guide the visibility
14:18 marcelr cait: i had some comments in that direction
14:18 marcelr you saw them probably
14:18 cait but it might be that you want to prepare a letter without activatting the feature yet
14:18 cait not sure if that might happen
14:19 cait yeah, have been thinking about them
14:19 marcelr or just deactivate at some point in time for some time
14:19 cait TalkingTechItivaPhoneNotification and SMSDriver
14:19 cait we could have an alert or grey out... but i think it's not totally bad if you can add something that won't work immediately because needs more configuration
14:20 marcelr could be confusing
14:20 cait that's how it is now as well
14:20 cait you can have a hold_print notice
14:20 cait well you will have it
14:20 bag good morning
14:20 cait but wihtout configuing the cronjob it won't ever do osmething
14:21 marcelr the standard should not be what we have now (remember the technical debt discussion :)
14:21 cait we put the templates there, but what is used when seems mostly to be configured elsewhere in the system
14:21 cait oh i remember it well :)
14:21 marcelr true
14:21 marcelr the second meeting appeared to be different from the first
14:25 cait yeah, different atmosphere
14:26 Joubu cait: ok, it looks the "phone" mtt has been introduced at the same time that the TalkingTechItivaPhoneNotification pref. So it looks consistent too to hide the "phone" mtt if the pref is disabled. But I will certainly create a new report for that.
14:27 cait Joubu: thining about it - I am not sure hiding will be good as you can't configure it without activating then... which might be confusing. Maybe we should leave everything visible and put a note that more configuration is needed?
14:27 cait So you can prepare all your messages and the sample notices are shown nicely with all the available mtt
14:27 Joubu cait: in the tools/letter.pl or overduerules.pl?
14:27 Joubu or both
14:27 cait like we could have sample notices for sms in the future - extra short ones and it could look weird
14:27 marcelr and do we need a form to configure the mtt in general (not via command line please) ?
14:28 cait oh, i was thinking tools
14:28 cait but similar for overdues maybe?
14:28 cait marcelr: i think better not tinker with them
14:29 cait i mean we should always ship with all available mtt, so people can see what can be done
14:29 Joubu cait: So I mark checkboxes (in overduerules.pl) and div (in letter.pl) as disabled?
14:29 cait I remember when the mtt tables were not part of the mandatory sample files and half the time people didn't know why things were not working
14:29 marcelr well some way to disable them or so
14:30 cait Joubu: i wonder how people will configure - will they want to configure everything and turn on the pref last, or turn on the pref when configuring everything else?
14:31 cait maybe it's good to have the checkboxes all open and then when you are done you can switch on the pref that will activate and start sending out the messages
14:31 Joubu cait: it is how it works with the patches I think
14:32 cait i didn't want to interfere really :(
14:32 cait just made me thinking and i had strted to look at the bugs a bit - it's an interesting feature

14:34 ashimema totally different
14:34 Joubu marcelr: In my opinion, adding a mtt management page will be confusing: There will be prefs to enable/disable, mtt to enable/disable and checkboxes to enable/disable (for overdue and patron preferences). Don't you think?

15:25 kivilahtio Hello everyone! I have some gruesome issues with Ubuntu networking I have been trying to solve for over a week now. Our server has two NICs (static IP, eth1 and eth4), each pointing to a separate network region. Then I have two bridges containing virtual guests, in subnets 10.0.2.0/24 and 10.0.3.0/24. The issue is in directing all inbound and outbound traffic from 10.0.3.0/24 via eth1 and from 10.0.2.0/24 via eth4. Also the subnets must not be
15:25 kivilahtio able to directly communicate, but the TCP packets must travel via an external firewall. Somehow I managed to route the traffic using separate routing tables. I am verifying the traffic is leaving the proper NIC and branded with the proper IP, but I can't get return packets through :( This is killing me. This solution http://linux-ip.net/html/adv-multi-internet.html brought me closest, but the section for inbound traffic is outdated. Is what I
15:25 kivilahtio am trying to achieve even possible?
15:25 marcelr cait: QAers do not compile less files..
15:25 marcelr :)
15:26 marcelr jcamins: nothing wrong with a long line if it displays nicely
15:26 kivilahtio do you have any ideas where I could ask for guidance regarding the matter?!
15:27 jcamins marcelr: never mind, I finally figured out what the two conversations were about. :)
15:27 kivilahtio I have zero issues when using the default gateway, I can nat/port forward properly, but when the second NIC with strict outbound rules are added to the mix it get really nasty
15:28 jcamins kivilahtio: maybe an IRC channel for Linux networking?
15:28 banana yes!
15:28 kivilahtio jcamins: know of any?

15:30 kivilahtio ok I'll try there. But I am starting to think this actually might be something which is impossible given Ubuntu 12.04
15:32 jcamins kivilahtio: it's certainly possible, because I have Ubuntu servers set up with ethernet cards attached to two distinct physical subnets.
15:33 jcamins But I didn't do anything special. I plugged them in, set the IP addresses, and routes, and was done.
15:33 kivilahtio jcamins: could you take a look at the route script I have?

20:21 wajasu for bug 11573 does this require me to test against the 3.12 tag or master?
20:21 huginn` Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org[…]_bug.cgi?id=11573 new feature, P5 - low, ---, koha-bugs, Needs Signoff , change description of charges in account fines
20:22 oleonard jcamins: How is Bug 10404 supposed to affect the biblio edit and item edit screens?
20:22 gmcharlt new features are almost invariable meant for master
20:22 huginn` Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org[…]_bug.cgi?id=10404 new feature, P5 - low, ---, jcamins, RESOLVED FIXED, Add previous/next browsing to staff client search results
20:22 wajasu ok
20:23 jcamins oleonard: you should be able to change from the item edit screen, I think, and after saving a biblio you're editing, you should be able to change from the detail view.
20:24 oleonard Ah, so the context is supposed to pass between them
20:24 jcamins Yeah.
20:25 oleonard I completely missed that aspect of it, so I never tested to see if it worked. Missing from the test plan ;)
20:25 jcamins Sorry.
20:26 jcamins I can check and confirm that.
20:26 jcamins But not right now.
20:27 oleonard It works as  you describe
20:28 jcamins Ah. Good. That's how it worked when I tested it.
20:28 oleonard Oops, maybe not completely. "return to results" from the item edit screen didn't work for me just now.
20:28 oleonard I'll keep testing and file a bug if necessary

22:10 mtj kf mentioned yesterday, that there may be a known issue where memcache stores an outdated copy of the fwrks
22:12 mtj i vaguely remember the problem being discussed , perhaps 2 years ago… but cant be sure :)
22:12 mtj anyone else recall this…?  ^^

22:52 cait you were looking forme?
22:54 cait mtj: looking at the logs :) i meant that one of the things i thought were annoying was that it didn't refresh the cache after changing something in the frameworks, you had to wait a longer time or restart memcache :)
22:55 dcook That IS rather annoyinh

22:57 mtj just have some code that wipes the fwrks from memcache, after a save_frameworks() call...
22:58 mtj …that should force memcache to get fresh copy from mysql
23:00 cait not sure why it wasn't done
23:00 cait it sounded like it was more complicated
23:00 cait maybe check bugzilla - should hide some secrets about caching
