00:40 wizzyrea hm
00:42 wizzyrea do you think it is better to have an item, once assigned to a reserve, be assigned forever (for example, place a reserve, mark it waiting, then demote it to a priority - it turns from an "any available" to an "only item") or should a demoted hold lose it's itemnumber?
00:42 wizzyrea and go back to being an "any item"
00:44 rangi hmm the latter i think
00:45 wizzyrea I just noticed this when I was playing around - it explains a lot of things about how reserves end up the way they do
00:46 wizzyrea I think a demoted hold should lose it's itemnumber too - since you are basically putting it back in the pot with the rest of the reserves again
00:46 wizzyrea why is that one item sacred
00:46 rangi yeah
00:48 cait demoted?
00:48 wizzyrea like moved from "waiting" to priority 1, for example
00:49 wizzyrea idk why you would do this but
00:49 wizzyrea @quote get 123
00:49 huginn wizzyrea: Quote #123: "rangi: #thingsihavelearnt if there is a mad scheme a library somewhere will be doing it ... except madder" (added by wizzyrea at 09:20 PM, March 30, 2011)
00:49 cait :)
00:49 wizzyrea i'm looking at bug 8451
00:49 huginn Bug[…]w_bug.cgi?id=8451 minor, P5 - low, ---, kyle, Signed Off , Confusing and problematic double prompt for processing transfers
00:50 wizzyrea I think not seeing the double prompt is probably more of a problem than seeing it, in all truth - until/unless transfers reference the reserve that they go with, it's going to continue to be a problem to differentiate between plan transfers and reserve transfers.
00:50 cait wizzyrea++
00:51 wizzyrea s/plan/plain/
00:51 cait not sure I can follow
00:51 cait but i was wondering about htis one and very glad you are takinga look at it
00:51 wizzyrea double prompts in certain situations is a very, very old bug
00:52 wizzyrea this is probably one of the last of its kind, so that's good. :)
00:52 wizzyrea but we have to be careful when smooshing it
00:57 wizzyrea also interesting, if you have two more or less identical transfers, excepting the bit about how they got there, they are both completed when the non-reserve transfer is completed.
00:58 cait ok pretty sure this is going over my head righ tnow :)
00:58 wizzyrea hehe
00:58 wizzyrea transfers and holds are tricky business.
00:58 wizzyrea and i'm not just saying that.
01:00 ibeardslee typing it
01:00 wizzyrea ^^
01:02 * wizzyrea boggles, why would one set a date arrived before the item was actually sent
01:02 wizzyrea oh god I've gone down the reserves rabbit hole.
01:04 * cait hopes you will find your way back
01:05 wizzyrea well that's reasonably smart - if an item has a reserve transit on it, and someone adds a manual transfer, it transfers from the reserve transfer's destination instead of the current logged in branch.
01:07 rangi check it
01:09 wizzyrea ...but it still says both are arrived
01:09 wizzyrea lulz
01:09 wizzyrea and that's quite good, rangi
01:09 wizzyrea pretty :)
01:11 rangi refresh ;)
01:12 cait so cool
01:26 cait rangi++
01:26 cait so pretty
01:33 wizzyrea can you think of a reason why the same item would be going from branch a to branch b, branch a to branch c, and branch a to branch d all at the same time?
01:34 * wizzyrea didn't know this was possible.
01:34 wizzyrea oh, it's not
01:34 rangi heh nope
01:34 wizzyrea because it assumes that the tobranch is the next frombranch
01:34 wizzyrea SNEAKY
01:35 wizzyrea that is... unexpected behavior.
01:35 * wizzyrea wonders if it holds through that
01:35 * wizzyrea tries
01:35 rangi hmm i wonder if there is a way to query huginn from the dashboard
01:35 * rangi wants to add a random quote by the random bug
01:36 rangi @quote random
01:36 huginn rangi: Quote #153: "<rangi> merging code in git doesn't make me angry, I just think back to svn and cvs, and git could punch me in the face and it would still be better" (added by gmcharlt at 07:49 PM, September 13, 2011)

01:43 ibeardslee probably wouldn't want to roll the random quote over so often?
01:44 rangi yeah i can wind that down some
01:45 rangi should be twice as long now (after a reload anyway)
01:46 ibeardslee random bug would want to roll over more often than the random quote
01:46 rangi yeah
01:47 rangi probably do the random quote at around 10 mins
01:48 JDatTeTakere Hi everyone. We have an error here at Te Takere I hope someone can help me with.
01:48 rangi fire away JDatTeTakere
01:48 wizzyrea hi, go ahead :)
01:49 JDatTeTakere Hi guys :-) When renewing 2 items I'm getting a software error "No branchcode argument to new.  Should be C4::Calendar->new(branchcode => $branchcode) at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/ line 2709". Google Search suggested the items had no current location.  I searched them both and they have one.
01:50 rangi does the borrower?
01:51 JDatTeTakere Yes as long as I'm looking in the right place.
01:52 rangi id try editing one item and set the branch for both home and current branch
01:52 rangi then try renewing it again
01:53 rangi and you choose a branch when you logged into the staff client eh?
01:54 rangi those are the 3 places it cares about branches, the borrowers, the items, and the one you have set
01:55 JDatTeTakere Tried that - the prob first occured on desk and I'm now on my PC so not the client. Have edited items, still can't renew.
01:56 rangi if you give me the barcodes i can take a look :)
01:57 JDatTeTakere Thanks Chris - borrower = K00015678
01:57 JDatTeTakere Items = the 2 on that borrower
01:57 rangi righto
01:58 rangi hmm yeah thats an odd one they look fine
01:59 rangi merry christmas by the way :)
01:59 rangi i hope it was nice and relaxing
01:59 JDatTeTakere The current location WAS missing, when I clicked Edit they were there but I clicked save anyway.
01:59 rangi *nod*
01:59 rangi thats normally what it is
01:59 rangi and that usually fixes it
02:00 JDatTeTakere Merry Christmas to you too.
02:00 JDatTeTakere Hope wizzyrea enjoyed her hot summer.
02:00 wizzyrea I did!
02:00 wizzyrea today is much cooler :)
02:00 wizzyrea almost chilly!
02:01 JDatTeTakere I'm still suffering though - got sunburnt on Xmas Day. Ouch.
02:01 * wizzyrea was not expecting 30c
02:01 wizzyrea s/c/C/
02:01 wizzyrea 29.8 at the airport, I guess.
02:01 wizzyrea ouch
02:01 wizzyrea !
02:02 JDatTeTakere Was 34 at my place.
02:02 wizzyrea holy smokes.
02:03 wizzyrea jransom said she did a lot of swimming an lounging, I suspect your day was similar?
02:04 JDatTeTakere Lounging yes. Swimming = soaking in small paddling pool.
02:04 JDatTeTakere Any other ideas rangi?
02:04 wizzyrea hey that works
02:04 rangi hmm still hunting round
02:05 rangi ahh i think i know the problem
02:05 rangi in the issues table the issuingbranch is set to null
02:06 rangi it will be trying to find the branch of where they were issued
02:06 rangi and cant find it
02:06 rangi to work out the renewal rules
02:06 rangi ill fix those 2 rows
02:06 rangi when it got issued, it must have had the currentbranch not set
02:07 rangi thats how it got in this pickle
02:07 rangi yep that was it
02:08 rangi i just renewed psychic ok
02:08 JDatTeTakere Thanks rangi.  Apparently this is happening a fair bit. I should be able to run a report shouldn't I, identifying any items with no current location?
02:08 rangi yep, i just fixed them all in the issues table
02:08 rangi but yes finding any items that dont have the current location set would be a good report
02:08 JDatTeTakere Thanks...and I just did the other one.
02:08 rangi that will stop it happening again
02:08 rangi my bet its something to do with the return chutes not setting location or something
02:09 rangi but thats just a guess
02:09 JDatTeTakere Thanks heaps for that. Much appreciated.
02:09 rangi no worries
02:09 rangi be good to do that report and see how many arent set and then we can track down why
02:09 JDatTeTakere That returns chute is a bit of a problem isn't it.
02:09 JDatTeTakere Will keep you posted re: report results.  Happy New Year to you both.
02:09 rangi yeah, it certainly throws up some curly ones
02:09 rangi and to you too

16:50 jcamins Oh, I didn't manage to copy the output from the md5sum.
16:51 jcamins Oh, wait.
16:51 jcamins I was reading the code and figured out the problem.

21:02 rangi gmcharlt: do you have a second?
21:03 gmcharlt rangi: hmm?
21:03 i00nsu hi all. I am trying to install koha, and I am getting some problems when installing few Perl modules from <cpan> shell.. one of them is DBD::SQLite2 another is GD. Does DBD::SQLite (SQLite3) is supported?
21:03 jcamins_away i00nsu: why are you installing from CPAN?
21:03 rangi gmcharlt: is there a way to interact with huginn other than via irc, what i would like to do is show a random quote up next to the random bug here
21:04 rangi its fine to say no :)
21:04 gmcharlt rangi: not conveniently, although something that scrapes the quotes database could always PM huginn
21:04 i00nsu jcamins_away, bcause is the correct way? I am guessing.. the yaz libs in ubuntu have broken dependencies..
21:05 jcamins_away i00nsu: it's definitely not the correct way. I do not install anything with CPAN.
21:05 i00nsu not always in all distros I am testing have the libs or Perl modules they need.
21:05 jcamins_away Which instructions are you following?
21:05 jcamins_away Oh, if you're not using Ubuntu, of course.
21:05 jcamins_away But if you're on Ubuntu, you should just use the package manager.
21:06 jcamins_away (Ubuntu or Debian)
21:06 cait i have koha working on ubuntu

22:38 cait hmIthink part ofthe reason it is notpersistant
22:38 cait ah that toolbar, I was thinking about the links:)
22:38 cait I think part of the problem is that some of the views/pages deal with multiple subscriptions

22:39 cait the navigation on the left varies a bit too, depending on where you are
