hey guys, just about to have a librarian visit me as she has tried to install koha on a debian machine from git and is having problems. I have only ever installed koha via the packages. Are there also packages available for debian? and if not can anyone point me to an installation guide from git (I didnt google yet, about to look ;)) |
00:34 |
|
phlunk3 |
found the directions now ;) |
00:37 |
|
phlunk3 |
she was saying she had issues setting up the cron jobs, but I don't see any mention of cron requirements in this install method ( http://wiki.koha-community.org[…]d%29#Installation ) am I missing something? |

completely fresh ubuntu install, I want to install koha-common, do I need to install mysql-server and apache first or will they be prompted? and is there any online walkthrough for this process? can't seem to find anything for ubuntu using koha-common online but am sure I've used it before. |

hi guys, can someone tell me how to add the koha repo for ubuntu so I can use apt to install koha-common? I already added deb http://debian.koha-community.org/koha squeeze main to my sources.list :S |
04:02 |
|
ibeardslee |
should just now be able to to 'apt-get update' and then 'apt-get install koha-common' .. I think |
04:04 |

any idea about this issue? |

shouldn't matter |
04:07 |

there is some magic incantation that should sort that |

'apt-get -f install koha-common' might do it |

lol |
04:08 |
|
Phlunk4 |
that will mean I am missing dependancies though yeah? |
04:09 |

if I understand it right, it'll work a bit hard at getting them sorted |
04:09 |
|

says the same with the -f also unfortunately |

maybe the default site is masking koha? |
09:01 |

what have you got in /etc/apache2/sistes-enabled ? |
09:01 |
|
smita |
have not touched that file, will go have a look thanks |
09:02 |
|
magnuse |
it's a directory, it should have a file for your koha site |
09:02 |
|
smita |
2 files, mylibrary and 000-default |
09:02 |
|
magnuse |
a hah - 000-default might be the problem |
09:03 |
|
magnuse |
try "sudo a2dissite default" to disable the default site (unless you use it for something else, of course) |
09:03 |
|
magnuse |
or is that "sudo a2dissite 000-default"? i never remember... |

|

then do "sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 reload" and see if that helped |

that worked, but unfortunately it just says url / wasnt found on this server. |

morning all. I am looking for a way to add a marc field to the indexes. (583$z ) How can I do this? Do I add <melm 583$z desc> to /zebradb/marc_defs/biblios/record.abs and then reindex? Or do I need to add it somewhere else also? |

talljoy, if you're adding a field to an existing index, that will do it. If you're creating a brand new index, there are some additional places to add it. |

hi #koha |

just adding it to an existing index. |
13:58 |

you might want to add the name of the index (desc) to some dropdown on the search screens though, sp users can choose it for their search |

Grammarist says: For the dish consisting of beaten eggs cooked until set and folded over, Australian, British, and Canadian writers prefer the French spelling, omelette. American writers prefer omelet by a wide margin, and U.S. dictionaries and usage guides concur. |
14:39 |
|
ebegin |
The spelling omelette evolved in old French from une amelette: a wide, flat frying pan. After a good spin on the orthographical Ferris wheel of Middle French, after many spelling alterations, ultimately amelette does derive from Latin lamella meaning thin layer, thin blade or slender leaf, referring to the thin blade of iron from which a blacksmith would have hammered out at the forge the earliest frying pan. |
