10:35 bigbrovar Hi guys. is there a way to attach an item to a library branch other using the 952$b tag. I have created two libraries and every item in our catalog is mapped to a particular librarie using the code I created for that library. when I search all seems to be fine. Just that I can not seem to get refined search by library to work
10:36 bigbrovar any time I tell koha to search items in a particular library it always comes up with zero result. even though the book searched belongs to that library
10:36 bigbrovar search only works when I search all libraries
10:37 kf no, 952$a and $b are the fields
10:37 kf you could try and check your items table ant the marcxml field
10:40 bigbrovar kf: so it MOST be 952$a and 952$b and not just 952$b?
10:41 bigbrovar and what what do u mean by "items table ant the marcxml field" how do I do that. (I am very new at koha and linux too )
10:41 kf ah, I thought about using sql to look what is in your database
10:42 kf and yes, both
10:42 kf you could try and change some items
10:42 kf and test if search works after that

11:04 kmkale bigbrovar: have you already started using the migrated data?
11:09 kf bigbrovar: in 3.2 you can use the batch edit item tool
11:09 kf but reimporting would be perhaps faster, if you are still testing and not using the data
11:10 kf depending on the number of your items
11:10 Amit heya kf, kmkale
11:10 bigbrovar kmkale:  yeah I have imported them to catalog. but the koha is still not yet in use. I am still working on it even though once all issues are resolved it should be open to the public soon

12:40 kf I only wanted to ask if it's possible to update the po files a few days before the next release
12:40 kf because we have some string changes and new strings that show up in English now in 3.2
12:40 kf 3.2.1
12:41 chris_n kf: sure
12:41 chris_n I think there is some latency in the transfer of translation-manager
12:41 kf so wanted to tell you that and ask fredericd about it later :)
12:41 chris_n fredericd does not have his site up yet I think
12:42 kf ok, will ask chris about it
12:42 chris_n so if there are updated po files available in the days before 3.2.2, we'll be glad to include them:)
12:42 kf that was my thought :)
12:42 kf perhaps still some strings will escape, but not so many
12:43 kf and owen did some nice patches to make some things translatable
12:43 chris_n I did speak with chris prior to the 3.2.1 release and it seems that only a few patches were available for the translation related files which were included
12:43 kf did you get my mail about your record?
12:43 chris_n I did
12:43 kf yeah, because the po files need an update
12:43 kf german is at 100% - but the strings are missing from the files
12:43 chris_n this has been a busy time due to a coworker being in the hospital
12:44 kf I thought more about it - are your $9 fields visible in the framework?
12:44 chris_n yes

13:01 bigbrovar could someone please explain to me the difference btw the 852$a marc tag and koha's 952$a and b tags
13:02 bigbrovar can they be used interchangeably
13:03 ebegin hi jwagner ;)
13:03 hdl hi
13:05 kf bigbrovar: no
13:05 kf bigbrovar: theoretically you can configure koha to use a different field for items, but practically you would have to edit the zebra files too - because the indexes will be all wrong

13:11 kf ah ok
13:11 kf you don't need 852 to make koha work correctly

14:24 bigbrovar now is there a way I can delete everything item in bib and start from scratch?
14:27 kf sorry, I am not sure I understand your question
14:28 bigbrovar like how can delete every previously imported items in koha and start from scratch
14:28 magnus bigbrovar: just items or complete records?
14:29 bigbrovar magnus: complete records I guess
14:29 bigbrovar I want to start afresh
14:30 bigbrovar I did delete from biblio in mysql but when I search I still see entries which are suppose to be deleted. even though click them gives a 404 msg
14:30 bigbrovar I want to start like I have never imported anything before.. like a fresh install
14:32 magnus bigbrovar: deleting from biblio, biblioitems and items is one way to do it - but until you reindex with zebra you will still get the old search results
14:32 magnus another way is to use the -d switch to http://perldoc.koha-community.[…]lkmarcimport.html

17:22 wizzyrea plus, there are folks who probably wouldnt' want people running shell scripts (most often) as root

20:57 wizzyrea hmm, interesting question: is there a way to find out how many patrons are logging into the OPAC to use features?
20:58 chris how many login ?
20:58 chris you could tell that from the apache logs
20:58 chris and/or the sessions table
20:58 chris (but you probably purge the sessions table)
20:58 wizzyrea and actually, analytics could give you nice non-specific, non-patron tied user data
20:59 chris you can put analytics into the opac using the js syspref
20:59 magnus could that be seen as an invasion of privacy?
20:59 wizzyrea right, just when you said that the lightbulb went on that that's what we do here.

21:01 owen And I know some do

21:04 wizzyrea simply by virtue of surfing
21:04 magnus wizzyrea: sure, and i'm not too paranoid myself, but i'm not sure i would want to let google "look over the shoulder" of patrons...
21:04 cait the problem is that those data is linked together by google, it's a whole profile, not single site visits
21:04 wizzyrea so you would be ok with a private webstat engine?
21:05 magnus and lots of people put info into librarything that is similar to what libraries would like to keep - but at least in norway there is a law that says all info about a loan must be deleted on return...

21:07 nengard cancellationdate
21:07 nengard yes
21:07 cait yeah, thats the latter
21:07 cait I think it's the date you will take the book out of the shelf
21:07 wizzyrea expiration date is when a filled hold expires off of the hold shelf, I think
21:07 cait for the next user
21:08 cait what liz says
21:08 wizzyrea I was going to say "what cait said"
21:08 wizzyrea lol
21:08 cait hehe
21:08 nengard so if it's the date i will take it off the shelf then what field is the one where the patron says i don't need this after such and such date
21:09 cait do we have an option for that in the opac?
21:10 wizzyrea ^^ I don't recall that feature
21:10 wizzyrea < doesn't know everything though (by a long shot)
21:10 cait there is the hold date in future thing
21:10 chris yeah
21:10 cait but that's something else
21:11 wizzyrea but that's ^^ what she said
21:11 chris im not sure you can set a i dont wnat it after this date
21:11 nengard there are two dates - a hold date in future and a 'not needed after' date
21:11 nengard both can be turned on using sys prefs
21:11 nengard trust the author of the manual :)
21:11 cait hm
21:11 saorge joined #koha
21:12 cait what is the syspref for the later?
21:12 cait you could add a date like ..01/01/1111 and look where it ends up
21:13 saorge_ left #koha
21:14 nengard in the interface it says 'hold expires on'
21:14 nengard[…]?ch=x6800#AEN6803
21:14 nengard[…]aceholdsingle.png
21:14 nengard it's not a preference i was wrong on that count
21:14 chris and i dont think you can do it in the opac
21:15 nengard hmm
21:15 nengard k - but still - where in the database does that date go?
21:15 nengard I think it goes in expireddate
21:15 nengard or expirationdate
21:15 wizzyrea put one in and see
21:15 wizzyrea :)
21:15 cait nengard: I wondered about the notes some time ago
21:15 cait not sure it's really shown somewhere
21:16 nengard chris it's in the opac - it says 'Hold Not Needed After'
21:16 nengard copied from my opac :)
21:16 wizzyrea it's not allowhold date in future?
21:16 cait ah, it shows the notes in the holds list
21:16 nengard testing now
21:16 cait wizzyrea: does not look like it
21:16 nengard no hold date in future means don't start my hold til this date
21:17 nengard but this is different
21:17 wizzyrea right
21:17 wizzyrea i'm looking here too
21:18 nengard yup - expirationdate is populated by the 'not needed after' dates
21:18 cait nengard: you are right
21:18 chris yeah but nothing checks it
21:18 wizzyrea so is there an expirationdate and an expiredate?
21:18 cait perhaps waitingdate is uses for calculation of the date we were talking about?
21:19 chris so unless you are running something to clean out expired ones
21:19 wizzyrea that must be
21:19 nengard so we have waitingdate notificationdate cancellationdate  (not expireddate - that was a typo)
21:19 chris they wont actually expire
21:19 nengard chris there is a cron for that
21:19 nengard[…]h=a13002#AEN13084
21:19 nengard :)
21:19 wizzyrea ah well there you go
21:19 nengard this by the way is why i can't remember where my shoes are - cause my head is full of koha manual
21:19 chris you shoulda just looked at that file then
21:20 cait nengard: I can understand that
21:20 cait started to write a syspref manual for my coworkers today
21:20 nengard what i'm asking i guess is is there a field where the date goes that an item needs to be pulled from the shelf
21:20 cait it's crazy what is hiding in my head
21:20 wizzyrea it must compute that from the waiting date
21:20 cait I thin harley has features for that
21:21 wizzyrea you mean the hold shelf
21:21 nengard yes hold shelf
21:21 nengard and you're right it must calculate it
21:21 nengard which means it's not stored in the db
21:21 nengard which means i can't run the report i want to run
21:22 wizzyrea harley does a thing re: move into the queue at the following date
