chris: I'm running on debian squeeze, so used koha-create to make an instance. this creates a user for that instance as well as a config specific to that instance. It runs zebra under /var/run/koha/[instance name] with the lock files in /var/lock/koha/[instance name] I have verified that the instance user has read and write permissions to everything under these instance directories.
