12:56 jwagner We saw that unknown yellow box during development of some of our features -- things that required overrides -- but since our code isn't out there yet, it's not the culprit in this case.
12:56 jwagner (Thank goodness!)
12:56 jwagner It's definitely related to the need for some kind of override -- too many $$ in fines, item is on hold for someone else, etc.
12:58 owen I guess it must be a case where NEEDSCONFIRMATION or IMPOSSIBLE are true but no message is defined for that condition
12:59 Colin Thats how I managed to generate it!

13:09 owen Heh... I think we need to update the OPAC to take renewal overrides into account:
13:10 owen "(-2 of 2 renewals remaining)"
13:13 owen Is now bug 3666
13:13 munin` Bug http://bugs.koha.org/cgi-bin/b[…]w_bug.cgi?id=3666 normal, P5, ---, jmf@liblime.com, NEW, Overriding renewal limit results in negative count in OPAC display
13:13 owen Colin: You added the new patron messages feature?
13:14 Colin I did but jwagner is the expert on what its like in practice
13:15 owen I'm looking at it for the first time this morning.
13:15 owen I wonder if we shouldn't merge the message boxes on the OPAC when both types of message are present?
13:16 owen Where there are two one is above the "Hello <user>" heading and the other is below. Looks weird.
13:17 Colin True. Could be very weird
13:18 owen I'll submit a patch if you're okay with that change. I'm open to suggestions for how the two kinds of messages should be labeled differently
13:20 Colin Yes. Gives folk a chance to make suggestions
13:24 jwagner owen, I'm fine with merging the two in the OPAC display.  We didn't have too many existing patron notes in our test/production data sets, so it never got to be a priority to change that piece.
13:25 owen I'm really happy to see the feature. I've been wishing for that for a long time.
13:26 owen In fact I wonder if there is a reason to continue to use the old OPAC notes mechanism at all
13:26 owen Maybe we should just do away with that part of it?
13:27 jwagner owen, when I started looking at the feature, the distinction I saw between the new messaging feature and the existing circ/opac notes was a question of "permanent" notes.  This might not be as much of an issue for opac notes, but it was for circ notes.  There's notes you don't ever want to overwrite, like "child has parent's permission for X".  So the new feature and the circ notes are both needed, but I don't know if anyone has an equivalent need for "p
13:28 owen Yeah, I agree. The circ screen would have a need for more permanent notes
13:34 nahuel left #koha
13:35 Kivutar left #koha
13:35 jwagner owen, maybe add a bugzilla (or update the one on this feature) to see if anyone is using "permanent" opac notes?  If no one has a major need, then I'd be happy with getting rid of them altogether.

13:48 Colin I would have thought that the nature of opac notes tends away from permanence. They are more messages.

14:35 jwagner Someone confirm -- build_holds_queue.pl is used for on-shelf holds.  Is that correct?
14:35 owen It builds the holds queue report, which shows the librarian a list of items to be pulled off the shelf to fulfill holds requests
14:36 owen So yes.
14:36 jwagner That's what I thought, thanks.
14:36 owen jwagner: Do you know what the bug number was for your messaging enhancements?
14:38 jwagner owen, Bug 3472
14:38 munin` Bug http://bugs.koha.org/cgi-bin/b[…]w_bug.cgi?id=3472 enhancement, P5, ---, gmcharlt@gmail.com, NEW, Enhanced borrower notes
14:38 owen Thanks.
14:47 kf owen: you left your 2-year-old in the library? :)
14:48 owen it's okay, they have a drinking fountain and everything ;)
14:48 kf :D
14:50 jwagner But do they have someone to change diapers????
14:50 owen Sheesh, didn't those people go to library school?
14:51 jwagner I didn't :-)  Neither did I go to kid school :-)
14:57 owen Hmmm... after adding 2 messages to a patron record I only see one [Delete] link.
14:59 chris_n owen: I would think not
14:59 chris_n owen: I asked chris if he ran into that issue when testing labels code and he said he did not
15:00 jwagner owen, there should be a Delete link after each message.  Isn't there?
15:00 owen No, only next to the top one
15:00 chris_n owen: I'll be in and out much of the day, but will keep tabs on irc when I'm in
15:02 owen jwagner: I'm adding more messages now
15:02 owen Both "staff" messages have a delete link
15:02 owen And the new opac message I added has the link
15:03 owen Seems only the last one in the list lacks the delete link
15:04 jwagner Hmmm.  I just tested on a plain-vanilla system with latest Koha (so it's the standard code not our devel), and I'm seeing delete links on all messages I add.
15:05 owen I'll empty the messages table and try again
15:06 owen Ah wait, never mind
15:06 owen It has to do with the branch, doesn't it?
15:06 jwagner Probably.  I did most of my testing on a single branch system, but it would make sense that staff at branch A can't delete messages created by staff at branch B.
15:06 owen I can't delete a message made at another branch.
15:07 jwagner But if you log in as a staff user for that branch, can you?
15:07 owen Yes
15:07 jwagner Incidentally, I updated the bug report with the question about removing the old opac notes field -- let's see if anyone uses it.
15:14 owen I take it there isn't a new granular permission for deleting messages?
15:14 owen If I'm logged in as a superlibrarian I would think I should be able to delete another branch's message
15:15 owen I see references to "can_delete" and "all_messages_del"
15:15 jwagner Not specific to that, no.  We've done a lot of new granulars (haven't submitted them yet but see Bug 3500 ), but different developers worked on the pieces.  It would probably be useful to add that into superlibrarian privileges.

15:30 jwagner owen, sorry -- when I created all the new bug reports for our features I forgot to do assignments on a bunch of them.  I've been meaning to go back and set those, but haven't gotten around to it yet.  If you want to, you can use the generic kohaprogrammers@ptfs.com address for assignment.  We discussed that with Galen a while back, and that's what I've been using when I do assign things.
