00:01 jenkins_koha Starting build #28 for job Koha_3.18.x_U14 (previous build: FIXED)
00:02 eythian you can have it fetch the data, and see what's actually there before the error occurs
00:03 dcook I guess I'm not good enough with the "s", "n", "r", etc to figure that out ;)
00:03 dcook I just dumped the database into a dev instance and now doing pretty much just that
00:04 dcook the marc being returned from Zebra definitely looks weird
00:04 dcook I'm thinking maybe the directory in the leader is messed up
00:04 dcook As it's not creating a good Marc::Record object at all
00:05 eythian that's quite possible
00:07 dcook Hmm, yeah, I'm thinking it's the leader
00:07 dcook Possibly has a space instead of a zero in there..
00:08 dcook Actually, that leader is all kinds of issues..
00:08 dcook I wonder why Zebra itself seems happy..
00:08 dcook It should be annoyed by that..
00:09 dcook Unless I have it set to marcxml and then it might not..
00:14 dcook So here's the leader that Zebra has "07040nnama220079554a4450"
00:14 dcook and here's what gets output " 0153nnam a22003854a 4500"
00:14 dcook All sorts of nastiness
00:15 dcook Anyway, thanks for the support, eythian :)
00:15 dcook I should've figured this one out sooner..

00:21 Francesca hello #koha!
00:21 cait hi Francesca

00:48 rangi sorta
00:49 jenkins_koha Yippee, build fixed!

00:50 Francesca rangi I've got some changes ready to be pulled on the day.tmpl page
00:50 rangi 2 secs ill pull it
00:51 Francesca ok
00:52 rangi try that
00:52 Francesca well it kinda worked
00:52 Francesca the nav showed up but look weird
00:53 Francesca also I think I'm gonna need to change its position on the page
01:01 Francesca ok theres a css rule stuffing up the menu on this page
01:02 Francesca only problem is if I remove it, then the other page I was working on, index.tmpl has a menu stuff up
01:05 Francesca rangi: I've pushed something up which should hopefully fix the menu issue
01:11 rangi k
01:11 rangi try that
01:12 Francesca that works
01:13 Francesca Do you want me to turn the mini-menu at the bottom of the page into an actual menu that matches the top one?
01:14 rangi hmm
01:14 rangi naw i think leave that as it is
01:15 Francesca ok
01:16 Francesca I'm gonna try and get the styling I did for the other page to apply to the body links, or I could just leave it as is. Thoughts?
01:16 rangi i think leave the body as is
01:16 Francesca ok
01:16 Francesca that page is done then
01:16 rangi sweet
01:17 Francesca can I do another one? I'm quite enjoying all this coding
01:18 rangi maybe
01:18 jcamins Francesca++ # volunteering!
01:19 Francesca sweet! I'll go find that file
01:20 eythian I have stuff you can do, I'd much rather go read a book today :D
01:22 jcamins eythian: anything good?
01:22 jcamins I need a new book.
01:22 eythian I just started the Discworld series from the start
01:22 jcamins Preferably well-written YA.
01:22 cait oh cool
01:22 cait guards guards?
01:22 jcamins I don't feel like I need to re-read Discworld.
01:22 jcamins cait?
01:22 wahanui i guess cait is regretting a bit that we didn't offer this as an option first... or on a test system for people to see
01:22 jcamins cait?
01:22 wahanui cait is from germany. Ask me about germany.
01:22 jcamins cait?
01:22 wahanui i think cait is happy about some example opacs :)
01:22 jcamins cait?
01:22 wahanui it has been said that cait is from germany. Ask me about germany.
01:22 jcamins cait?
01:22 wahanui cait is probably from germany. Ask me about germany.
01:22 cait :P
01:23 jcamins cait?
01:23 wahanui somebody said cait was regretting a bit that we didn't offer this as an option first... or on a test system for people to see
01:23 jcamins cait?
01:23 wahanui hmmm... cait is just silly on a train again
01:23 jcamins cait?
01:23 wahanui cait is, like, from germany. Ask me about germany
01:23 cait go to bed!
01:23 cait is that what you are looking for?
01:23 jcamins Yes.

01:27 eythian ik heb "een hoed van lucht", ook. ik moet proberen dat.
01:28 eythian last I tried it was a headache inducing effort, might be easier now.
01:31 dcook Hmm
01:31 * dcook tried reading "Guards! Guards!" but just couldn't get into it
01:31 dcook Not bad... just..
01:34 Francesca rangi: found the file and have pushed some changes up now
01:38 rangi righto
01:39 Francesca woah I think I've made things worse...
01:39 rangi hmm yeah
01:40 Francesca I'll try and fix it
01:40 Francesca theres something really weird with the way those calenders line up
01:41 eythian jcamins: why YA specifically?
01:42 jcamins eythian: I like YA books.
01:42 eythian fair enough
01:43 Francesca jcamins: if you like YA books have you tried anything like Divergent?
01:44 jcamins Francesca: ooh, I have not read anything by Veronica Roth!
01:44 jcamins Thanks!
01:45 Francesca its really good, I'd recommend it
01:46 dcook Francesa: which faction would you have chosen? :p
01:46 * dcook read the Divergent series a couple months ago as they were some of the only English books he could find in Greece
01:46 Francesca ohhh I dont know, I'd probably end up divergent
01:47 dcook Huh... I never thought of that
01:47 dcook I always figured Erudite or Dauntless
01:47 dcook Probably Erudite
01:47 Francesca yeah I'd be Erudite or Abnegation and maybe Dauntless. But more likely divergent
01:48 cait people here starto make no sense... guess i should go to sleep? :)
01:49 eythian cait: no, that won't help
01:49 cait hmpf
01:50 eythian well actually, I'm fairly sleepy too, so maybe that is it. Resumed training after a couple month hiatus last night, and everything aching didn't make for an easy sleep.
01:51 dcook hehe
01:51 * dcook always finds training makes it easier to sleep
01:51 * dcook is dead tired today though..
01:52 eythian it does usually, but not when it's the first time in a while :) also, it was a warmish night and I couldn't cool down.
01:55 dcook Ugh, that's the worst
01:55 dcook I think the other night was my second time in a while, and I was unbelievably hungry. Sooo hungry.
01:55 dcook Stopped for a snack and had to wait behind 4 people. I was not impressed :p.
01:55 eythian you're in Australia, isn't that Oven Central right now?
01:55 dcook Mmm
01:56 dcook Yeah, pretty much
01:56 dcook Should go to the gym again tonight but still just a wee bit sore from overdoing it last time..
01:57 Francesca If I consider it hot here in wellington I can't even imagine how hot it must be in australia right now
01:57 dcook @wunder syd
01:57 huginn dcook: The current temperature in Bardwell Park, Sydney, New South Wales is 29.3°C (12:57 PM AEDT on January 06, 2015). Conditions: Scattered Clouds. Humidity: 58%. Dew Point: 20.0°C. Pressure: 30.09 in 1019 hPa (Falling).
01:57 dcook Hmm, glad the AC is working here in the office..
01:59 Francesca hey rangi just pushed some stuff up, hopefully this at least sorts out part of the problem
02:00 eythian @wunder nzwn
02:00 huginn eythian: The current temperature in Wellington, New Zealand is 17.0°C (2:30 PM NZDT on January 06, 2015). Conditions: Overcast. Humidity: 88%. Dew Point: 15.0°C. Pressure: 30.06 in 1018 hPa (Steady).
02:00 eythian but it's been overcast all day
02:00 dcook Oh wow...
02:00 dcook That's just a bit of a difference, eh?
02:01 Francesca the humidty explains the heat. But nowhere as bad as australia right now
02:01 eythian also: not on fire
02:01 Francesca that is a very good thing
02:01 rangi Francesca: try that
02:01 Francesca trying now
02:02 Francesca well the first row sorted itself out
02:02 Francesca everything else is still weird
02:03 Francesca also a couple of calenders appear to be missing dates, they get cut off at the edge of the page
02:04 Francesca at least the favicon works
02:21 cait left #koha
02:56 Francesca rangi if you're there, I've pushed some chnages up now

03:01 rangi yup
03:01 rangi want me to revert?
03:01 Francesca that didnt work as well as I was hoping
03:01 rangi :)
03:03 Francesca uhh I'm just trying something
03:03 Francesca try that
03:03 rangi hows that?
03:03 rangi still overlapping but not as bad
03:04 Francesca bigger margin then
03:04 Francesca hold on
03:05 Francesca ok try that
03:08 Francesca that seems better
03:09 Francesca but we've lost the edges again
03:10 Francesca hold on I have the fix for that
03:11 rangi k
03:13 Francesca ok pushed it up
03:16 rangi try that
03:17 Francesca yus it worked
03:17 Francesca thoughts?
03:18 rangi looks ok to me
03:18 rangi maybe we need people to try it on a few different browsers
03:18 Francesca sweet
03:18 Francesca I can check chrome
03:19 Francesca looks good on chrome
03:19 Francesca I'll just fix up the heading spacing and style the link, then I think its done
03:22 rangi cool
03:22 rangi ill be back in a bit

13:58 akafred Re: the mysql-issue mentioned yesterday. mysql 5.6.22 has stricter defaults than 5.6.21, which breaks Koha when adding biblios (and perhaps other places, too, we don't know). We're registering a bug on Koha. Seems people have run into this with mariadb before and worked around it by changing the mariadb-settings, (which seems a bit dodgy).

21:50 tcohen we have a situation
21:50 tcohen regarding Perl 5.20
21:51 tcohen is anyone aware of any problem besides CGI and other dependencies being removed?
21:53 eythian This is perl 5, version 20, subversion 1 (v5.20.1) built for x86_64-linux-gnu-thread-multi
21:53 eythian I've not noticed anything
21:53 rangi yeah me either
21:54 rangi ive been running 5.20 on my laptop for months now, and have not noticed any issues with Koha
21:58 tcohen did you have to install CGI by your own?
21:58 rangi dont remember having to
21:58 tcohen are you both on jesee?
21:58 rangi nope
21:58 rangi im on sid on my desktop

21:59 tcohen we are struggling with UTF-8 regression tests that run fine up to 5.18 and fail on 5.20
22:00 rangi what errors are you getting?
22:02 tcohen bug 13264
22:02 huginn Bug[…]_bug.cgi?id=13264 enhancement, P5 - low, ---, z.tajoli, Needs Signoff , Test about UTF-8 (bug 11944)
22:03 tcohen zeno explains what happens if we fix jonathan's problems (jessie)
22:03 tcohen it looks like a double encoding problem
22:03 tcohen when we fix it in 5.14 / 5.18 it breaks in 5.20
22:04 rangi right
22:05 rangi im suspecting then that these utf8 fixes will break in 5.20 then
22:05 tcohen so, there's a change in how perl handles encodings, or something similar, and we are doomed
22:05 rangi well not so much
22:05 tcohen it fails without having applied the UTF-8 patches
22:06 rangi yep
22:06 rangi it just means those patches are probably not the right way to fix the utf8 issues
22:07 tcohen ah
22:07 tcohen that'd be correct, but this patches just create the boilerplate to full-stack test encoding issues
22:07 rangi at least not if we want the fixes to work in the future

22:12 david Hi
22:13 eythian oh. I don't have the zebra indexing set up, does it need that?
22:13 david We are having a problem with our biblios being skipped one upgrade
22:13 tcohen it creates all the needed stuff
22:14 david We upgraded to Koha 3.18.2. Our search was down so we added those four lines that we saw on the troubleshooting area. Are searching is now working but we are getting no titles. Our catalog and you showing no titles.
22:15 david Our patron records are fine
22:16 eythian david: what do you mean by "those four lines"? Also, how have you installed Koha (packages, tarball, etc)?
22:16 david Can anyone help us please? We are desperate and not sure what is happening.. We did notice that when we did the rebuild biblios was not included. BiblioS was skipped
22:17 david We used packages.
22:17 eythian OK. But what four lines are you referring to?
22:17 cait can you paste the lines you added to the koha-conf.xml?
22:18 david The four lines were found on troubleshooting - googke search for biblios not found after reindexing.  It appears to be a common problem with the last release. I can send a link if you want
22:18 rangi and exactly how you are you reindexing?
22:18 eythian please do, otherwise we can't know what you're meaning.
22:18 david Yes stand by
22:20 eythian and you say that biblios were skipped, what command did you run and what did it say?
22:20 eythian tcohen: this may take me a minute, I didn't have a database set up for master.
22:21 david Here is the link to error and four lines to fix:
22:22 david[…]r-reindexing.html
22:23 david The command was Koha-rebuild-zebra -v -f library
22:24 david the four line fix is in the link I provided but it would not allow me to cut in paste. sorry
22:24 rangi and what exactly is the line you added for
22:24 rangi <zebra_lockdir>/var/lock/koha/__KOHASITE__</zebra_lockdir>
22:24 rangi you did change __KOHASITE__
22:24 rangi to a real thing eh?
22:25 rangi if your instance name is library it should be
22:25 rangi <zebra_lockdir>/var/lock/koha/library</zebra_lockdir>
22:25 david Rangi you may have found the problem. We did not change that.
22:26 rangi it might not be, but it's certainly a problem
22:26 david I believe we should change that to our name which is simply library
22:26 eythian you still haven't told us what actually happens when it doesn't work though, so we can't tell for sure.
22:28 rangi tcohen: running it now

22:33 david Thanks all for any help
22:34 rangi tcohen: tests 27 and 59 fail (2 out of 64 fail)
22:34 rangi david: thats because there are no biblionumbers
22:34 david eythian did that url help?
22:34 rangi where did you used to store your biblionumbers 999$c
22:34 dcook rangi: Yeah I've had that happen before... probably just needs a re-index
22:35 rangi dcook: or the bib numbers are in the wrong place old koha sometimes have in 090
22:35 tcohen rangi, yes, that's the symptom
22:35 eythian david: somewhat. Do you get any errors when you do a koha-rebuild-zebra?
22:35 dcook rangi: Could be. I've had this happen on systems where it was in 999$c and 999$d though
22:35 * dcook would definitely be more interested in output from koha-rebuild-zebra or
22:36 rangi dcook: not
22:36 rangi never ever run that on a package install

22:37 rangi tcohen: did that help?
22:37 tcohen i'm sure 5.20 is the problem, and not Jonathan's setup :-P
22:37 david sorry working of cel phone. Cannot paste can we email?
22:37 tcohen what should we do?
22:38 david our helpdesk would not allow us to put the IRC chat on our company workstations I'm working off my cell phone. Sorry guys
22:38 eythian david: ah
22:38 eythian that will make things harder.
22:38 dcook What about the web IRC chat?
22:38 eythian david: there is a web chat client, that might be easier.
22:39 rangi tcohen: need to read up on the changes to unicode in 5.20 (the major one is it now supports unicode 6.3) and check if the Encode modules have changed too
22:39 tcohen we need to suppose so
22:39 david thanks - what is web url?
22:39 tcohen should we put the tests on hold?
22:39 tcohen until we make them run on 5.20?
22:40 tcohen it that was not the case, I'd push the UTF-8 patches right away
22:40 rangi thats up to you, what i would probably want to do
22:40 eythian <-- david
22:40 rangi is apply the utf8 patches and actually test koha
22:40 rangi not just the unit tests
22:40 rangi in 5.20
22:41 rangi and if its not hideously broken
22:41 tcohen the patches have been consistently tested by people, I think the only one on 5.20 was jonathan
22:41 rangi then id probably push them for the next release, with a note that they break things in 5.20
22:41 rangi because someone will definitely install koha on utopic
22:42 Francesca joined #koha
22:42 tcohen the patches are not the problem (11944) but the tests
22:42 rangi are we sure of that?
22:42 david Eythian. Thanks for url - gave to developer.
22:43 tcohen my guess is that as the tests follow what we know about how to deal with unicode, we might have some other glitches to deal with
22:43 Francesca hello #koha
22:43 rangi tcohen: if we have had people testing running koha under 5.20 with those patches then thats fine, i think id probably want to test that a bit first
22:44 david he is rebuilding biblio. 999$c is biblionumbr in.
22:44 rangi id push them to a branch, and then merge that, perhaps with a --squash
22:44 David_ joined #koha
22:44 rangi then we have until the release to test 5.20
22:44 david Ok developer is joining now. He is D David
22:44 rangi and can revert that commit if its broken
22:45 cait david: maybe an idea for pasting -  use (be careful no passwords) from your workstation and give us the number of the paste
22:45 rangi tcohen: does that make sense ?
22:47 David_ The 4 lines we pasted were from the websites noting that the searches had trouble with this version.  Pasted into koha-conf.xml, just before the end config tag ("</config>")
22:47 rangi yes did you fix it tho
22:47 rangi <zebra_lockdir>/var/lock/koha/__KOHASITE__</zebra_lockdir>
22:48 David_ I changed the directory in the 3rd line from the variable to the word "library"
22:48 David_ <zebra_bib_index_mode>__BIBLIOS_INDEXING_MODE__</zebra_bib_index_mode>  <zebra_auth_index_mode>__AUTHORITIES_INDEXING_MODE__</zebra_auth_index_mode>  <zebra_lockdir>/var/lock/koha/library</zebra_lockdir>  <use_zebra_facets>1</use_zebra_facets>
22:48 eythian err
22:48 rangi cool, thats one problem, but i doubt its your main one
22:48 eythian you still have variables in there
22:48 rangi yeah
22:48 rangi anything __something__
22:48 rangi should be changed to a real thing
22:48 rangi so __BIBLIOS_INDEXING_MODE__
22:49 rangi try changing that to grs1
22:49 tcohen rangi, it does make sense
22:49 David_ not so sure...they work fine in all other cases.  There are variables all over the file...I don't know that changing them here are going to make a difference
22:49 rangi i think you are editing the wrong file then
22:50 rangi is the file you are editing /etc/koha/sites/library/koha-conf.xml ?
22:50 David_ yes
22:51 rangi well those variables there will definitely not work
22:51 David_ so what do I need to use for replacement values for __AUTHORITIES_INDEXING_MODE__ and __BIBLIOS_INDEXING_MODE__?
22:51 rangi grs1
22:51 eythian there are variables in other parts of the file, but those parts are generally unused.
22:51 eythian there shouldn't be variables in the parts that are used.
22:52 david Replacing with GRs1  in both cases
22:53 rangi grs1
22:53 rangi no capitals

22:53 rangi -f -v :)
22:53 david sorry yes grs1
22:53 rangi cool
22:54 David_ using -f -v is referenced in the code to explicitly skip biblio.  Is that what we want?
22:55 eythian that's not what it does, -f means do a full reindex, -v means be verbose about it.
22:55 rangi try man koha-rebuild-zebra
22:55 david Do we need to rerun – F – V?
22:55 rangi it will tell you what they mean (hint it's what eythian said)
22:55 rangi yes
22:55 David_ I was in the says if -f then turn off biblio
22:55 rangi but f and v
22:56 rangi must be reading the wrong code
22:56 david Running now f and v
22:56 rangi cos the code of koha-rebuild-zebra certainly doesnt do that
22:56 eythian I'm in the code now, that's not what it says :)
22:56 eythian --full|-f         Does a reindex of the whole collection.
22:56 david reindexing now
22:56 rangi did you do the koha-restart-zebra first ?
22:57 david No
22:57 rangi ahh you must have missed tcohen saying that

22:58 david Should we kill rebuild
