11:17 nafeesapatel Hi, in the past week or so I have translated some coding to english format and none of my submissions have been reviewed. Have you any idea how long this process will take?
11:52 jcamins_away nafeesapatel: if you mean you submitted patches to Koha, it depends on a lot of factors.
11:53 jcamins How hard they are to test is the most important one.
11:53 jcamins Which bugs did you submit patches for?
11:55 jcamins If you mean on translate.koha-community.org, you might want to send an e-mail to the koha-translate list.
11:59 nafeesapatel yeah i did translate on the koha community...urrm, will you be able to give the me the email for koha-tranlsate?
11:59 jcamins mailing lists?
11:59 wahanui mailing lists are at http://koha-community.org/supp[…]ha-mailing-lists/
11:59 jcamins ^^ if you are doing translating, you should subscribe to the koha-translate mailing list.
12:03 nafeesapatel yeah i've done that, it's just that I am translating as part of my assignment for university and it's been 2 weeks and I can't do any work until someone accepts my reviews

12:27 jcamins I don't know what you mean by "active."
12:27 nafeesapatel meaning, it's not updated daily etc
12:27 jcamins translate.koha-community.org is very active, but koha-community.org is a static website.
12:27 nafeesapatel ok
12:28 jcamins There wouldn't be anything that needed updating daily even if someone were interested in volunteering hours of their time every day writing content for koha-community.org.

12:51 magnuse it's the same in the opac and the intranet. using xslt everywhere
12:53 paul_p magnuse = can it be because search results comes from zebra while detail comes from mySQL ?
12:54 magnuse yeah, that sounds like it might do it
12:54 jcamins magnuse: possibly the records are in MARC-8 and getting mangled by Zebra?
12:55 magnuse ummm... i forgot to reindex after the last import...

13:29 wajasu i've mentioned deleting all my auth_header  (authorites) and running misc/link_bibs_to_authorites.pl with auto_generate authorities on.
13:29 wajasu it seems there are lots of dups.
13:30 wajasu i think it might be because as each bib is selected and the authority is searched for in the zebra index, non are found.
13:31 wajasu or at least only two get linked to the same auth record
13:32 wajasu so its probably fine when you catalog, wait unitl zebra reindexes, and catalog again, but not for a batch routine.
13:32 wajasu i'll have to look into this tonight.
13:37 jcamins wajasu: yes, that's correct. The only solution would be to generate authorities one at a time.
13:37 jcamins link_bibs_to_authorities.pl really was intended for just what the name says... linking.

15:37 chris_n oh... and g'morning

15:39 paul_p the nightmare being that, now, I'll have to translate all this into french for BibLibre customers...
15:40 oleonard chris_n: The wiki lies?
15:41 chris_n oleonard: on the git-bz page: "If you have more patches/commits you can use e.g. HEAD~2, HEAD~commitid etc to specify the range of commits you want to include." is patently false
15:42 chris_n git-bz does not know how to handle a range of commits
15:42 libsysguy I thought you had to include the interactive tag
15:42 libsysguy to make that work
15:42 chris_n at least not the flavor I received from the git.k-c.org
15:42 libsysguy which I think it says in the description
15:42 * libsysguy could be wrong
15:42 chris_n no word of that on the wiki

16:26 jcamins nengard: that's why you didn't have documentation on it.
16:26 nengard okay, then that's what i mean
16:27 nengard i meant the admin page
16:27 nengard thought the pref was still there too
16:27 jcamins If it's still showing up, that was a merge error.

21:01 Kabii im with kids hold up
21:05 oleonard See you tomorrow #koha
21:06 jcamins Kabii: oh, I got you mixed up with the other person who was just trying to set up Koha on Fedora.
21:06 cait left #koha
21:12 eythian jcamins: I'm usually reluctant to suggest disabling the default apache config because doing that can conceal issues.
21:13 tcohen joined #koha
21:14 jcamins eythian: I'm not troubleshooting people's Apache configurations unless they're paying me a great deal more than I get paid for hanging around #koha. I figure "disable your default site and look into the underlying problem with your DNS" is better than "sorry, I'm not your sysadmin."
21:14 jcamins Also, you have to disable the default site if you're only accessing Koha via IP.
21:14 seneca joined #koha
21:14 eythian yeah, fair enough.
21:14 eythian that's true, I also don't recommend that except for testing environments :)
21:16 seneca Hello all - quick question: I have a zebra rebuild issue, I think. Symptom is that search results aren't reflecting the actual current status of an item. For example, things that are unavailable are being shown as available and new cover art isn't being displayed.
21:16 seneca Once you click through to the actual item's page, it displays the updated info
21:17 jcamins seneca: definitely sounds like an out of sync Zebra index for the first.
21:17 seneca My cron is set to run "test -x /usr/bin/koha-rebuilt-zebra && koha-rebuild zebra $(koha-list --enabled)" every 5 mins
21:18 jcamins If you are using packages, use `sudo koha-rebuild-zebra --full instancename`
21:18 jcamins Uhh, I presume that's a typo just now?
21:18 seneca So my cronjob is missing the --full ?
21:18 seneca yeah, rebuild, not rebuilt :)
21:18 jcamins No, your cronjob is correct.
21:18 jcamins But sometimes indexes get out of sync.
21:19 jcamins By doing a full reindex, you'll get it back in sync.
21:19 seneca ah
21:19 seneca ok, thank you
21:19 Kabii jcamins, im not setting it up via ip
21:20 Kabii im have a domain name to it
21:20 seneca that particular cron line was added by the debian package, so I was a bit hesitant to say there was something wrong with it. :)
21:20 Irma joined #koha
21:20 jcamins seneca: no, there's nothing wrong with the cron line.
21:20 seneca you guys are the best - thanks again!
21:20 wizzyrea it just happens sometimes that indexes get out of whack
21:21 jcamins Once the indexes are out of sync, they never get back in sync.
21:21 jcamins Kabii: in that case, you probably need to adjust your DNS and/or the ServerName directives in your virtual hosts.
21:21 seneca understood. I just ran the --full version and will ask the librarian to let me know if things are accurate now and the index is staying in sync.
21:21 Kabii where would that be in the apache 2 config
21:22 seneca By themselves you mean, jcamins?
21:22 wizzyrea right, by themselve
21:22 wizzyrea selves*
21:22 jcamins seneca: right.
21:22 wizzyrea you have to do a full reindex to resync them
21:22 seneca cool
21:22 wizzyrea but it should be happy after that
21:22 wizzyrea !
21:22 wizzyrea :)
21:22 jcamins Kabii: /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/koha [or whatever you called your instance]
21:22 eythian seneca: it's not too common, but sometimes some things can cause it.
21:23 wizzyrea super heavy server load is one that I've observed causing it
21:23 wizzyrea or a crash
21:24 seneca well, we did a massive manual clean up of the mysql db a couple of weeks ago. Ran "/usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/rebuild_zebra.pl -b -a -r -v" after it to catch zebra up
21:24 seneca and I think it still may have been out of whack from then
21:24 wizzyrea oh I wonder if you at some point had two rebuild zebras going at the same time
21:25 jcamins Uh-oh.
21:25 seneca hmm.. could be
21:25 jcamins You ran rebuild_zebra.pl manually?
21:25 seneca yeah... I'm taking it that's not the correct thing to do?
21:25 wizzyrea well if you are going to do that
21:25 jcamins Nooooo.
21:25 wizzyrea turn off the cron.
21:25 seneca Pretty sure I got that command from someone on here.
21:25 jcamins Not with packages.
21:25 seneca ah
21:26 seneca that makes sense
21:26 jcamins the koha-rebuild-zebra --full library command is the equivalent for packages.
21:26 seneca ok
21:26 jcamins You may have permissions issues.
21:26 seneca so, should I be ok now after running the "--full" version of that command?
21:27 seneca koha-rebuild-zebra, that is
21:27 jcamins If the permissions weren't screwed up. If they were, that command may have been a no-op.
21:27 seneca I saw no errors...
21:27 jcamins I'm not sure if koha-rebuild-zebra reports any errors in the event of a permissions issue.
21:27 jcamins eythian: any idea?
21:28 eythian I think it tends to. Though I haven't seen them myself, I don't get permissions issues :)
21:28 seneca heheh
21:28 jcamins eythian: nor do I.
21:28 eythian best thing to do is see if it fixed your issues, if it has, great :)
21:28 jcamins But rebuild_zebra.pl doesn't report permissions issues, so I wasn't sure if koha-rebuild-zebra would.
21:28 seneca well ok then
21:29 jcamins ^^ best plan
21:29 seneca What kind of permission errors? File, db, or what?
21:29 jcamins seneca: file permissions. You can end up with the indexes owned by the wrong user.
21:30 seneca ah
21:30 seneca What files, in case I need to fix them.
21:30 jcamins Ummm... /var/lib/koha/instance/*
21:31 jcamins The ownership should be koha-instance:koha-instance, I think.
21:31 seneca looks good, except for "email.enabled" is owned by root
21:31 seneca root:root
21:32 seneca but that's world readable and an empty file...
21:32 jcamins Yeah, that one's okay.
21:33 seneca OK then. I hope the full reindex fixed everything then
21:33 seneca Thanks for the guidance
21:34 wizzyrea ^^ this one is quite good
21:34 jcamins I just read nengard's post on proprietary vendors.
21:35 jcamins Sounds like the sort of thing that might be done by a certain company that shall remain nameless.
21:35 wizzyrea maybe the vendor-who-shall-remain-nameless actually *is* doing that
21:36 * jcamins thinks it seems likely.
21:37 cjh wizzyrea++
21:38 wizzyrea ew!
21:38 jcamins lol
21:38 rambutan P...P...is...ew...Pisew?
21:39 wizzyrea oh that made me laugh.
21:39 jcamins eythian: you haven't e-mailed the package signing key yet, have you?
21:39 eythian jcamins: nope. also doing a migration which is keeping me busy enough.
21:40 eythian just wanted to get that part sorted while I thought of it.
21:40 jcamins Good, 'cause I didn't receive it. :P
21:40 eythian ah, in that case I'll not send it again.
21:41 jcamins Heh.
21:42 * jcamins winces.

21:42 jcamins ohloh things that the number of comments in Koha is "very low."
21:42 eythian WinCE is pretty terrible, yeah
21:42 rangi it's true
21:43 eythian I can believe that
21:43 jcamins *thinks
21:43 rangi its nor bad in the code
21:43 rangi its the SQL
21:43 rangi according to ohloh most of our code is SQL and not commented SQL
21:43 jcamins How is 63% of our code SQL?
21:43 rangi all the .sql files
21:43 eythian I actually consider it low in the code, too. Maybe I'm just a commenting bigot.
21:43 jcamins I guess the stupid frameworks?
21:44 rangi its low in the code, its not very low
21:44 jcamins A fine distinction, that.
21:44 rangi its very low in the sql .. but i dont actually care about that :)
21:44 rangi our pod coverage is actually pretty code
21:44 rangi good
21:44 eythian $ find -name *.sql -print0 | xargs -0 wc -l
21:44 eythian 1077567 totaal
21:45 eythian that's a lot of SQL
21:45 rangi it counts the sql in the files too
21:45 rangi in the .pl
21:45 rangi the ohcount stuff doesnt look at the extensions
21:45 * jcamins would love to get rid of the frameworks.
21:45 rangi it looks in the files
21:45 jcamins Horrid, horrid, horrid.
21:46 rangi (you can clone the ohcount project and play)
21:46 francharb see ya #koha
21:47 magnuse jcamins: let's get rid of marc while we're at it! :-)
21:48 * magnuse wanders off
21:49 jcamins magnuse: that'd be nice too, but it least is serves a function with legacy data.
21:49 jcamins The way we do frameworks does not.
21:49 eythian wahanui: be magnuse is <reply>let's get rid of marc while we're at it!
21:49 wahanui OK, eythian.

21:52 eythian seems like it.
21:53 wizzyrea huh.

21:57 * wizzyrea giggles
21:57 wizzyrea be rangi

22:46 jcamins Or even a request for anything in particular?
22:46 jcamins Granted I'm tired, but I can't make heads nor tails of it.
22:47 mtj pass… :)
22:49 mtj afaict, its a feature request, asked as a subtle question
22:50 mtj … and hi #koha
22:51 mtj bbiab
22:51 jcamins mtj: I can't even figure out what the desired feature is.
22:51 jcamins She wants... something... sorted alphabetically.
22:52 * jcamins leaves the pondering of this as an exercise for others, and heads home.
