00:42 YoungPublicLibrarian Hello everyone. Anyone on that might be able to tell me what field I would need to use to get a query to output the "for Librarians" notes on patrons' accounts?
00:43 eythian http://schema.koha-community.o[…]es/borrowers.html <-- YoungPublicLibrarian
00:43 eythian specifically, borrowernotes
00:43 eythian "a note on the patron/borroewr's account that is only visible in the staff client"
00:44 YoungPublicLibrarian That only gives the notes in the Circ or OPAC fields. But not the messages entered through the "Add New Message" link
00:44 eythian ah, then I'm not sure, but you may be able to poke around the schema page to find it
00:46 YoungPublicLibrarian I found the messages.message field. But it only returns "for Patron" notes entered. Can't find any fields that specify "for Librarians" notes...
00:48 YoungPublicLibrarian I was actually rather surprised. I really thought I had it dead to rights when I found the messages.message field and got the report working properly

02:38 jcamins Oh my.
02:38 jcamins mtompset has been gone a week, and they're redoing the migration?
02:39 eythian is it the same people?
02:39 jcamins SIL Phillipines.
02:39 eythian Where'd mtompset go?
02:39 jcamins Back home to Canada.
02:39 eythian because he finished?
02:39 rangi hmm?
02:39 jcamins Right.
02:39 jcamins On the list.

02:39 wahanui hmmm... mailing list is at http://koha-community.org/supp[…]ha-mailing-lists/
02:39 jcamins Yeah.
02:40 rangi wow
02:41 eythian By finished, I mean completed.
02:41 jcamins Right.
02:41 jcamins That's what I understood you to mean.
02:41 eythian So, why would they be doing that?
02:41 jcamins Well, not my problem.
02:41 eythian true
02:41 * jcamins can't imagine.
02:41 jcamins My problem today was upgrading my clients' servers.
02:41 jcamins It was glorious.
02:42 eythian sounds ... fun?
02:42 jcamins Other than reindexing 400k records, it took 1 hour.
02:42 jcamins Counting the package build.
02:42 eythian ah, nice
02:42 eythian oh yeah, that's going to be my problem today too.
02:42 jcamins Reindexing 400k records took a long time.
02:42 eythian I've gotten a little behind on package stuff, so I'm going to catch up today (and did some of that on Friday)
02:43 eythian It would, yeah
02:43 jcamins Actually, that's not right.
02:43 jcamins 400k bibs.
02:43 jcamins ... 600k auths?
02:43 eythian that's a lot
02:43 jcamins Yeah, one authority for every single heading.
02:43 jcamins Don't ask. It's tragic.
02:43 eythian heh
02:44 jcamins However, I'm done, so it's time for bed.
02:44 jcamins Good night.

03:19 vera Hi all, I've got a quick question. I've used the tarball option in the past to successfully install koha - its up and running, and its great. Now I see that there is a Ubuntu packages method - can I switch to the packages method of updating, or would I need to freshly install koha using the packages method in order to update koha with packages.
03:19 eythian wahanui: listen is http://animalstalkinginallcaps[…]ng-me-for-fission
03:19 wahanui OK, eythian.
03:19 eythian Well, if you undo the stuff you did for the tarball, you can install the packages, and migrate your data over.
03:20 eythian The closer you get to a fresh install, things will be easier though
03:20 vera I suspected so.. I will do that in the future at some point. Thanks.
03:23 vera By the way, the tarball will still be alright to use in the future - there is no need to change is there?
03:23 eythian No, the tarball won't go anywhere.

13:13 jcamins Which is the one that was modified?
13:14 jcamins First one is the changed one?
13:14 jcamins Wow.
13:14 gerundio 1st one is the change one and 2nd is original
13:14 gerundio before you say anything, let me tell you I don't know what those changes are about
13:14 jcamins That's... different.
13:15 gerundio these were done by a colleague of mine
13:15 gerundio who's been providing IT support to our faculty library for a long time now
13:15 jcamins He removed a lot of indexes.
13:15 gerundio does it make any sense?
13:16 jcamins It makes sense insofar as the syntax is correct.
13:16 jcamins In terms of functionality...
13:16 jcamins I think you may have shown me the most absurd Zebra configuration changes I have ever seen.
13:16 jcamins You'll need the 090 change.
13:17 jcamins Other than that, you'll need to ask him what on earth he was thinking.

13:21 gerundio jcamins, that's not nice
13:21 gerundio my knowledge on this is very limited
13:22 gerundio it seems like I'll have to dig deeper into it and try to make sense of it
13:22 jcamins gerundio: I can explain what each change does.
13:22 jcamins I can't explain why anyone would make such a change, though.
13:22 jcamins And that's really the important question.
13:22 gerundio lololol
13:23 jcamins I'm not a UNIMARC expert, but it looks to me like he eliminated all thd indexes on coded fields.
13:23 gerundio I don't think the person who did it can explain it either
13:23 jcamins *the
13:24 jcamins Just to confirm... all your data is already in Koha, right?
13:24 gerundio no
13:24 gerundio I haven't imported any records yet
13:24 jcamins In that case, throw out all the changes.
13:25 gerundio I think that will be the last thing to do
13:25 jcamins Where is the data coming from?
13:25 gerundio that might be a problem, not a technical one, but a working relationship one :)
13:25 jcamins Hehe.
13:25 jcamins I mean, in terms of software.
13:26 jcamins Another ILS?
13:26 gerundio does this explanation sound reasonable?? "I don't know what this does, but we're not going to use because jcamins said not to!!"
13:26 Callender joined #koha
13:26 * jcamins thinks it does. :P
13:26 jcamins The 090 changes where the biblionumber is indexed.
13:27 jcamins This usually causes problems.
13:27 jcamins It's necessary if you already have the data in Koha with the biblionumber in 090$a, but it sounds like you don't.
13:28 gerundio jcamins, yes, we're migrating from DocBase
13:28 jcamins The other lines remove indexes on 071, 072, 100 (I know this is very bad!), 102, 105, 110, 115, 116, 208, 207, 230, 461, 464, and 995$k.
13:29 jcamins From my point of view, this is crippling the good part of UNIMARC: the coded data.
13:32 BigRig joined #koha
13:38 jcamins I'm sure the person who made the changes must have had a reason.

13:40 gerundio ok ok

13:43 gerundio I'll try some social engineering with him now, to see if I can get to know those reasons you disagree with xD
13:46 gerundio btw, do these changes might have anything to do with changes on the NoZebraIndexes value?
13:46 jcamins Ah-ha.
13:47 jcamins Yes, he was probably trying to make it work exactly the way NoZebra did.
13:47 jcamins However, that's a bad idea, because NoZebra doesn't work.
13:49 tcohen jcamins, how will the removal of nozebra stuff affect the work to integrate solr?
13:50 jcamins tcohen: it wont'.
13:50 jcamins *won't
13:50 tcohen are they unrelated ?
13:50 tcohen ok
13:50 tcohen unrelated at fs level
13:51 jcamins Yeah, the NoZebra code is in C4::Search, and the Solr stuff is separate.

14:01 gerundio jcamins, I saw some mentions on Apache Solr before and as I was seeing you talking about it
14:01 jcamins gerundio: yeah, it's not ready for production.
14:01 gerundio how does it stand now as a Zebra alternative?
14:02 jcamins It's not.
14:02 gerundio ok, I guess that answers the question :D
14:02 gerundio I read what you said about the NoZebra... can you explain a lit bit more what that field is supposed to do?
14:03 jcamins It doesn't do anything now.
14:03 jcamins It used to be an alternative to Zebra that used only MySQL.
14:03 jcamins But that was a while ago.
14:03 gerundio and basically the NoZebraIndexes were just used if the option NoZebra was set to "Don't use"?
14:03 jcamins Right.
14:04 gerundio hmm, one less problem then
14:04 gerundio because he changed that too and I wasn't sure what that was supposed to do :)
14:05 jcamins It was supposed to set what indexes Koha used in NoZebra mode.
14:06 gerundio now I understand
14:06 gerundio basically koha had its own search engine built around MySQL
14:06 jcamins Right.
14:07 gerundio from what I could tell during the setup process zebra is now a mandatory requirement, right?

16:04 drojf will that work with multiple translators? i think you have to download and reupload the po files which may lead to problems since there are several german translators
16:05 jcamins Probably not.
16:06 drojf or we have to work in shifts
16:27 kf poedit is the same for %s
16:27 kf and working in shifts... scary :)

16:30 skk can someone tell me if i add */1 * * * *  $KOHA_CRON_PATH/../migration_tools/rebuild_zebra.pl -b -a -r >/dev/null in crontab will it have any effect in koha functioning
16:32 jcamins skk: it will, yes.
16:32 jcamins It will crash your server if you have more than ~100 records.
16:32 skk oh
16:33 skk i have not been able to configure zebra on livecd
16:33 jcamins What are you trying to do?
16:33 skk with latest koha
16:33 jcamins Well, with an older version of Koha that has serious security vulnerabilities.
16:33 skk and when i try to check for records in opac koha zebra gives error as DBD::mysql::st fetchrow_hashref failed: fetch() without execute() at /home/koha/bin/zebraqueue_daemon.pl line 125. DBD::mysql::st execute failed: Table 'koha.zebraqueue' doesn't exist at /home/koha/bin/zebraqueue_daemon.pl line 124.
16:34 skk do u knw what could be solution for this error
16:34 * oleonard starts mumbling in tune with drojf
16:34 jcamins Yes.
16:34 jcamins Don't use the livecd.
16:34 jcamins You should not be using zebraqueue_daemon.
16:34 jcamins It has been deprecated for two years.
16:34 skk then what could be used instead of zebraqueue_daemon
16:35 jcamins rebuild_zebra.pl -b -a -z
16:35 jcamins And it should be every 5 minutes, not every one minute.
16:35 skk what is alternative for zebraque_daemon then
16:35 jcamins I just told you.
16:36 jcamins (your question earlier used -r instead of -z, which causes rebuild_zebra to rebuild the entire index from scratch every time it's run; with -z, it will only update changed records)
16:36 jcamins If you change it to */5 from */1 and -z from -r, that line you listed above will work.
16:37 skk ok i wanted to knw about "should not be using zebraqueue_daemon" part
16:37 jcamins Using -r (which is what I thought the question was about when you asked) will definitely cause your system to crash.
16:37 jcamins You should be using rebuild_zebra.pl.
16:37 jcamins They are alternatives.
16:38 skk so no need to start zebra and zebraqueue while machine reboots
16:38 skk i had put them in update-rc.d
16:38 jcamins You need to start zebra, not zebraqueue.
16:38 skk oh ok thanx
16:38 jcamins Are you sure you're using the latest livecd?
16:38 jcamins What version of Koha does it have?
16:39 jcamins And where did you get it?
16:39 skk i am compiling the CD on lubuntu with latest koha
16:39 jcamins Ohhh.

16:39 jcamins You are _making_ a CD.
16:39 mveron Good evening #koha
16:39 skk yes
16:39 jcamins That makes a *huge* difference in my advice.
16:39 skk why
16:39 jcamins The latest livecd that is available for download has serious security vulnerabilities.
16:40 skk like
16:40 jcamins If you're making your own, for your own use, I won't tell you not to use it.
16:40 jcamins XSS vulnerabilities in the OPAC.
16:40 skk no we circulate the cd
16:40 jcamins They're fixed in 3.6.10 and 3.8.6.
16:40 skk i am trying to compile livecd with latest 3.8.6 only
16:40 jcamins You should use packages.
16:41 jcamins Much easier.
16:41 skk what is packages
16:41 wahanui packages is, like, at http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Debian
16:41 jcamins (they're not available for 3.8.6 yet, I don't think, but they will be soon)
16:41 jcamins For Debian and Ubuntu, you can install Koha with apt-get install koha-common
16:41 jcamins It then takes care of all the Zebra configuration for you.
16:42 skk i am compiling koha 3.8.6 from manual install
16:43 jcamins Yeah, that's a lot more error-prone.
16:43 jcamins As you have noticed.

17:10 kf can I do something like filter:none

17:14 jcamins Firebug won't ever show you those lines, since they're not valid CSS.
17:15 kf oooooh

17:16 kf and the language switcher does wonky things in ie :(
17:16 oleonard You'd have to either use a conditional stylesheet for IE or use some kind of CSS hack
17:16 kf it moves up across the text and login box
17:16 kf hm ok
17:17 kf and the easiest way to increase font size in both?

18:09 huginn Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org[…]w_bug.cgi?id=7550 normal, P5 - low, ---, koha.sekjal, NEW , Self checkout should limit display of patron image to logged-in patron
18:09 oleonard I should change that bug to be "self checkout should limit EVERYTHING to logged-in patron"
18:10 oleonard I guess the problem is that the self checkout user isn't strictly "logged in"
18:10 * chris_n hates it when his patrons decide to mess around and search opac under the self-checkout user
18:10 jcamins Yes, that's what I was thinking of.
18:11 chris_n a set of perms applicable to the self checkout user would probably not be a bad idea
18:11 chris_n then we could limit what pages could be accessed as well
