00:46 * chris_n runs away screaming after seeing "Search.pm" in the buffer
01:00 chris_n jcamins: if you have a moment to sign-off, I attached a followup to 7977 addressing Jonathan's QA issues
01:01 * chris_n could not locate the font changes he mentioned, however
01:02 jcamins chris_n: will do.
01:08 jcamins chris_n: just one patch?
01:08 chris_n yes
01:08 chris_n the last
01:08 chris_n "Followup...."
01:08 jcamins Yep. Got it. :)
01:08 jcamins I didn't realize it would be named so clearly.
01:09 chris_n I grep'd for the font change he mentions, but could not find it in my repo
01:09 chris_n maybe it something local to him
01:09 jcamins Yeah, I'm not finding it either.
01:10 * chris_n is digging his heals in on the back-tics :-)
01:10 chris_n heels
01:10 jcamins Hm.
01:10 jcamins Wait, here it is.
01:11 chris_n the suspense is killing
01:11 jcamins opac.css
01:11 jcamins #daily-quote
01:13 * chris_n looks
01:13 chris_n ahh
01:13 chris_n I did not grep there :-)
01:14 chris_n can you remove it and add it to that patch?
01:14 jcamins Sure.
01:14 chris_n tnx
01:15 jcamins I see why that line was there.
01:16 chris_n formatting?
01:16 jcamins Yeah.
01:16 * chris_n will run that font locally
01:16 jcamins It's hideous sans serif.
01:16 chris_n hehe
01:17 chris_n those fonts are "web safe" I thought
01:17 jcamins I think the objection was that there are no serif fonts anywhere else in Koha.
01:19 jcamins Hm.
01:19 jcamins Should saving a change take ages?
01:20 chris_n not really
01:20 jcamins It worked earlier today.
01:20 chris_n well, folks can do whatever they like locally
01:21 jcamins Okay, let me try removing this follow-up and see if saving works.
01:22 jcamins Could you try editing a quote and see if it works?
01:22 chris_n om
01:22 jcamins Yeah, looks like there's a problem in quotes_ajax.pl.
01:23 chris_n broken
01:23 * chris_n looks
01:27 chris_n hmm, missing id
01:27 jcamins Odd.
01:27 jcamins I wonder why it worked before.
01:27 jcamins Because I did try it before signing off.
01:28 chris_n I see the problem
01:28 rangi chris_n: its a fair call, the file is in the mysql specific dir, there is a postgres dir, they can put a file in ther
01:28 rangi since unless postgres suddenly switched to innodb
01:28 chris_n my thoughts exactly
01:28 rangi that file is never ever gonna work anyway
01:29 rangi all we do is risk breaking it for mysql
01:29 jcamins Or they could work at eliminating the .sql files entirely.
01:29 rangi that is a better course of action
01:29 jcamins DBIx::Class FTW
01:29 jcamins Then I could run Koha with sqlite.
01:29 rangi heh
01:34 chris_n +1
01:34 chris_n jcamins: working on the fix now
01:34 jcamins Thanks.
01:47 chris_n jcamins: ok, ditch that last patch and grab the new one
01:47 * chris_n squashed away a few important lines of code :-P
01:47 connor_l_dewar joined #koha
01:49 jcamins Yeah, that fixed it.
01:51 jcamins Looks good.
01:52 chris_n what was the name of that recording module you mentioned? Mechanize::something?
01:52 jcamins The recorder is HTTP::Recorder.
01:52 * chris_n considers writing test of the interface that way
01:52 jcamins There's a script to set it up in release-tools.
01:52 chris_n it would allow automated checks to catch bad squashes like that

09:21 kf not sure if that means it hasn't passed qa
09:21 paul_p i've seen we had 2 patches for staff, but failed to see that the same patch was here for OPAC & obsoleted by mistake !
09:21 kf it seems quite small tho?
09:21 paul_p kf yep, i'll QA it
09:21 kf :)
09:21 vfernandes i'm having a little problem with authority indexing... the heading (should have all 200 subfields) isn't correctly indexed... only contains subfield $a
09:26 huginn New commit(s) kohagit: Merge remote-tracking branch 'origin/new/bug_5184' <http://git.koha-community.org/[…]38cfb0d481b0a0e2c> / Bug 5184 [REVISED] Upgrade jQuery to the latest version (OPAC) <http://git.koha-community.org/[…]443b98bb160aaecaa> / Bug 6335 Set branch in sip session <http://git.koha-community.org/[…]ha.git;a=commitdi

09:34 slef vfernandes: probably not without digging around in your authority records, Koha's code and your zebra.
09:36 paul_p magnuse thx, 7248 is later on my pile (and 7249 works if you don't have memcache)
09:36 magnuse paul_p: cool!
09:36 vfernandes slef: i'm using yaz-client to query
09:36 kf paul_p: but bit confusing perhaps, because you can give it caching time?
09:37 paul_p kf = nope, because the field appear only if you've caching on ! (i've checked, because i was surprised not to see the caching time field when testing !!!)
09:37 kf oh very cool :)
09:38 kf jcamins++ and rangi++ for clever templates :)
09:38 vfernandes look likes that Heading is only indexing 200$a because if i search values in those subfield it works fine
09:39 vfernandes find @and @attr 1=authtype NP @attr 1=Heading @attr 4=1 @attr 6=3 "Rosenzweig" -> 1 hit (200$a = Rosenzweig)
09:39 vfernandes find @and @attr 1=authtype NP @attr 1=Heading @attr 4=1 @attr 6=3 "Rosenzweig Serge" -> 0 hit (200$a = Rosenzweig   200$b = Serge)
09:39 slef vfernandes: first things I would try is a full reindex of authorities, saving the exported auth data to look at with yaz-marcdump; then look at the zebra config and the koha code that sends it for indexing.
09:39 slef vfernandes: but this may be more than we can do over IRC, sorry.
09:43 kf does someone know who did the koha git twitter service? I think something must have changed since it was activated - because the links seem to be broken
09:43 magnuse i think mtj talked about git and twitter

09:51 vfernandes slef: how i can save the auth data?
09:59 magnuse paul_p: sorry for the nagging... i just pulled from git and tried to save an SQL report and even though the web UI says it was saved it does not show up in the list of saved reports, and i get this in the error log: "guided_reports.pl: DBD::mysql::db do failed: Column 'cache_expiry' cannot be null". i did not see the "cache expiry" field when i saved the report...
10:08 paul_p magnuse = there is an updatedatabase, that should put you to 3.9.0.003 iirc (i'll check)

10:14 francharb tiny question!
10:14 francharb :)
10:14 paul_p magnuse this syspref is in 7248, it's not related to your problem.
10:14 francharb is there a specific set up for analytical recordss?
10:14 francharb apart from the syspref
10:14 francharb I have 2 install
10:15 francharb same version installed
10:15 francharb on the first one, the analytical records works
10:15 francharb not on the second one
10:15 francharb and i can"t see why...
10:15 francharb once i created a analytical record
10:16 francharb I don't have the like form the host item to the analytical record
10:16 francharb Any idea where the problem come from?
10:18 paul_p jenkins now unstable, but seing the message I think it's the sample database, not the pushed patches
10:19 kf francharb: not sure about unimarc :(
10:19 kf are you using the easyanalytics feature?

10:27 kf I saw there were lots of wanrs
10:27 jaya please tell me how do i add members in KOHA . We are using catalogue already module and now wants to implement circulation module. For that, first we require to add the members in the members module. But its not happening....kindly help !!!
10:27 chris_n if I understand correctly, it attempt so check the complexity of the code based on the number of possible execution paths
10:27 kf jaya: have you configured patron categories? go and work your way down from the administration page
10:28 kf jaya: which version of koha are you using?
10:28 chris_n the greater the number of execution paths, the more complex the code, and the greater need of refactoring.... I think
10:28 kf guess circulation and biblio are no surprise candidates
10:29 kf and search.pm
10:29 wahanui search.pm is probably complicated and has been the source of much contention in the wake of KohaCon with BibLibre rewriting it for Solr/Lucene instead of Zebra support.
10:29 chris_n I was surprised that pretty much everything is a candidate :P

11:15 dgl-library 1 and -6
11:15 wahanui -5

13:19 Shane-S so I can remember the config file I set the username and password to the admin page. I am getting back to our Koha project and I didn't document the login
13:25 slef Shane-S: first question?
13:25 wahanui i guess first question is "What are you trying to do?" or or what is the goal?
13:27 Shane-S what file is it you edit during setup to specify the admin login for the :8080 page

13:31 Shane-S I just can't remember
13:31 Shane-S think I found it... /etc/koha/sites/biblio/koha-conf.xml

13:44 Shane-S thanks!
13:44 Shane-S I am putting that on my post it :
13:46 Shane-S Perhaps you all can answer this, how long would you estimate it takes too add a book and barcode it?
13:46 oleonard It depends entirely on how you do it. From scratch? Import a record? Download from Z39.50?
13:47 Shane-S Import 96-98% from Marc from follett, our system has all the biblo now
13:48 Shane-S I also made it URL live :) http://library.npelem.com (using POUND reverse proxy)
13:50 Shane-S I forget what I did but somehow you all helped me to make it so there was at least 1 copy of every book
13:51 Shane-S If that wasn't the case, I guess it would be a manual effort of adding a copy and generating a barcode for each one correct?
13:51 oleonard Makes sense.
13:53 Shane-S I had this all down 3months ago...sucks when I can't focus on single projects :(
13:55 Shane-S Do I have this correct... Biblio > Add Book(s) > Print Barcodes > Label Book(s)

15:22 wizzyrea well you would not be the first to have that thought.
15:22 wizzyrea you mean like, have an "official" one?
15:22 vkm there must be some official live cd
15:22 wizzyrea having some familiarity with the existing one would be good.

15:31 vkm you mean 2 gb ram is sufficiant
15:32 vkm what about OPAC speed

15:42 drojf i think it's about time for an "i told you so" sms to the friend that said "forecast says there won't be any rain" while black cliuds were in front of my window
15:42 vkm i directly spoken to live cd maker but he also could not answer me and said it may be bug
15:42 datadoctor webmin is nice, but you can always install it later if you need it
15:43 vkm webmin is included with live cd
15:43 kf drojf: that's not nice :) - and it's still sunny here
15:43 jcamins It's not a bug in Koha 3.6.4, because lots of people are using 3.6.4 and indexing works fine.
15:44 jcamins If there's a bug, it's with the live cd configuration.
15:44 datadoctor there is the system preference for wildcards, sometimes causes problems with search, manifests similar to indexing issue
15:45 datadoctor system preference queryautoruncate - we set to "only if * is added"
15:45 jcamins More likely it's a configuration issue.
15:45 vkm yes i think also there is role of some zebraqued daemon also which i do not understant

15:45 datadoctor ICU?
15:45 wahanui ICU is a horrible monster that doesn't do what anyone expects.

15:46 jcamins It allows you to search non-Roman character sets.
15:46 jcamins It also is broken if you use QueryAutoTruncate.
15:46 kf ICU is also a good monster for searching non lating scripts

15:58 jcamins It's documented in the 3.8.0 INSTALL.debian file, but it works fine with 3.6.x, too.
15:59 datadoctor cool ;)
15:59 jcamins Bug 7759
15:59 huginn Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org[…]w_bug.cgi?id=7759 enhancement, P5 - low, ---, tajoli, Pushed to Master , Use Koha-Contrib-Tamil to update Zebra data in background
15:59 vkm what are pre requirments for set up of email alerts
16:00 jcamins vkm: none. It'll go straight to your root user.
16:00 jcamins Or whichever user the livecd author set up to receive root's e-mail.
16:01 vkm i have completelly learned how to use koha but i thing i have to learn linux
16:01 vkm i mean how to generate auto emails for issue/return books and hold information to concern users
16:02 jcamins http://www.cpbibliography.com/[…]koha-learn-linux/
16:02 jcamins Ah. You need to set up a mail server.
16:02 jcamins Postfix?
16:02 wahanui Postfix is found at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Postfix
16:02 datadoctor This is a good explanation of Linux mail: http://www.simplehelp.net/2008[…]nux-command-line/
16:02 kf vkm: you need to be able to set up cron jobs and configure an mtp to send out mails
16:02 jcamins ^^ that's a good page to read about.
16:02 vkm is there any requirment to instal aditional email softwares etc
16:02 jcamins *to read about it
16:02 jcamins Maybe. It depends whether it's been set up already on the live cd.
16:02 kf vkm: you can use different software, but the system in general has to be able to send out mails
16:03 vkm live cd is only having webmin, koha
16:04 jcamins Then you'll have to setup a mail server. We just pointed out a bunch of articles to take a look at.
16:04 vkm i will be greatfull if any bodu use 3.6.4 from sourcforge and report me the solution
16:04 vkm or the problems associated with it
16:05 jcamins vkm: an option you might want to consider is hiring a support vendor to set this up for you. Everyone here is here as a volunteer.
16:05 vkm do you have any idea about setting mirror server jcamins
16:06 vkm so that if one stops another work with real time data transfer
16:06 slef wow I only just noticed that 3.8.0 shipped with a 3.7.x db version
16:06 slef how did I miss that before?
16:06 jcamins slef: it did?
16:06 datadoctor vkm: If you can get into Webmin (usually http://localhost:10000) check Webmin configuration > sending e-mail settings
16:07 jcamins vkm: that's definitely something you'd need to hire a vendor to set up, if you don't want to figure it out yourself.
16:07 datadoctor sorry, https !
16:07 slef jcamins: 3.07.00.049
16:07 slef jcamins: unless I missed something.
16:07 gmcharlt slef: very briefly, but I thought the tarball got updated with the correct version stamp a few hours afterwards
16:07 slef gmcharlt: looks like packages are still 3.07.00.049
16:07 gmcharlt ah
16:08 slef maybe that's why I missed it... this might be the first package-based server upgrade to 3.8 I've done
16:08 kf slef: I think it's not in the packages yet
16:08 kf slef: eythian went by the tag and that was missing the last update
16:08 slef kf: oic. Anything else missing, do you know?
16:08 kf no I think not
16:09 slef not to worry, then!
16:09 slef Thanks for the info, everyone!
16:09 vkm yes i wanted to resolve my problems own it will give lot of opportunity to learn but at the same time i also do not wanted to create problem for my users but much eager to implement it now
16:09 vkm None of the supported mail servers (Exim, Qmail, Postfix and Sendmail) were detected on your system. You will need to adjust the module configuration to set the mail server and possibly mail paths manually.
16:09 kf slef: and eythian knows - but I think he will do packages for 3.8.1 so should be ok by then
16:09 jcamins slef: oops. :(
16:09 jcamins Okay, that's an additional test I need to add to my release test thing.
16:09 jcamins Something that says "oy, you, you're an idiot, the version is wrong!"
16:09 jcamins slef: oh, yeah, the packages haven't been done for 3.8.0 yet, have they?
16:09 jcamins I thought the 3.8.0 packages were waiting for the 3.8.0 packaging patch.
16:10 kf jcamins: that's a good idea - it's easy to miss in all the excitement
16:10 slef jcamins: errr, I just got 3.8.0 packages... should I check where they came from?
16:10 jcamins slef: I might've missed something.
16:10 vkm i got this msg when webmin cliked at read user mail    None of the supported mail servers (Exim, Qmail, Postfix and Sendmail) were detected on your system. You will need to adjust the module configuration to set the mail server and possibly mail paths manually.3
16:11 slef http://debian.koha-community.o[…]pool/main/k/koha/ has a 3.8.0-1
16:11 jcamins vkm: you should read the articles we suggested above.
16:11 jcamins slef: yeah, looks like there are 3.8.0 packages.
16:11 jcamins Huh.
16:11 jcamins Odd that there are no 3.6 packages there.
16:11 slef jcamins: nuked from orbit on 3.8.0's release?
16:12 jcamins slef: shouldn't have been.
16:12 vkm ok jcamins thanks for your help
16:15 jcamins kf: I'll have to make it a warning, though, since I run the release test even when I'm not releasing.
16:15 slef jcamins: you'll have to ask eythian about the build scripts I guess
16:16 slef @later tell eythian jcamins was wondering where the 3.6 packages are... not on http://debian.koha-community.o[…]pool/main/k/koha/ ?
16:16 huginn slef: The operation succeeded.
16:16 kf jcamins: makes sense :)
16:16 jcamins Maybe I should have one release script with "release --test" and "release --build"
16:16 kf oooh!
16:16 slef release --crash ?
16:17 jcamins I will link the release --build option to the Koha community recipe catalog, and include a random food as the official release food in the release notes.

21:01 rangi http://jenkins.koha-community.[…]/file.-556650809/
21:01 jcamins Yeah, just about every method triggers that.
21:02 jcamins It's rather depressing.
21:02 rangi it hates C4::Search :)
21:02 jcamins It has lots of company in that club.
21:03 rangi i think its one we can trend down too, its nice to keep an eye on
21:20 * rangi really wants bug 7998 in 3.8.1
21:20 huginn Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org[…]w_bug.cgi?id=7998 critical, P5 - low, ---, wizzyrea, Needs Signoff , 3.8 UI cleanup, tweaks to new styles
21:20 jenkins_koha Starting build #10 for job Koha_3.8.x (previous build: SUCCESS)
21:20 rangi i hope it gets pushed to master soon
21:21 jcamins I thought it was signed off.
21:21 jcamins I guess there were more patches.
21:23 wizzyrea well I kept getting requests to tweak stuff
21:24 wizzyrea this last one I think covers everything everybody wanted though
21:24 wizzyrea it's not like we can't fix it once it's in if it's wrong somehow
21:25 rangi exactly, and it moves things forward
21:25 rangi soon as its in master ill put it in 3.8.x
21:29 wizzyrea It needs a stinky sign off though.
21:29 * wizzyrea mutters.
21:36 jcamins If I get a chance, I will try to sign off on it.
21:37 rangi thanks jcamins
21:37 wizzyrea that would be SO COOL
21:37 wizzyrea basically, take a tour throughout he staff client without
21:37 wizzyrea then take a tour with
21:37 wizzyrea in a couple of browsers
21:38 wizzyrea there's really nothing super controversial in there anymore.
21:38 SJeffery Don't forget us poor folks on IE :)
21:38 wizzyrea I don't think I did anything that makes IE mad
21:38 wizzyrea not in the patch for 7998
21:39 rangi using IE on the staff interface has a bunch of issues, but none of them are to do with 7998

22:01 * chris_n thinks paul_p should just push bug 7998 and move forward... we can tweak forever
22:01 huginn Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org[…]w_bug.cgi?id=7998 critical, P5 - low, ---, wizzyrea, Needs Signoff , 3.8 UI cleanup, tweaks to new styles
22:02 chris_n but some of it fixes stuff that was just plain broken from the word go
22:02 rangi chris_n++
22:04 jcamins chris_n++
