10:06 Oak did a Koha install about 2 weeks ago on Debian, then the hard disk got bad sectors, replaced the hard disk, did fresh Debian install, and koha-common just now. can someone guide me how to restore my database backup? Should I just use phpMyAdmin and dump the sql file there, then run rebuild_nozebra.pl ?
10:08 rangi close
10:08 rangi you want to run
10:08 rangi sudo koha-mysql instancename < databasedump.sql
10:08 Oak ah okay
10:08 rangi sudo koha-rebuild-zebra -f instancename
10:09 Oak okay, and I do that after I have run the web installer?
10:09 rangi nope
10:09 rangi your database is gonna stomp all over anything you do with the web installer
10:09 rangi so no point
10:10 Oak so run web installer *after* the database dump?
10:11 rangi it will prompt you to run it if it needs to
10:12 Oak okay
10:31 Oak rangi, I did the DB dump, and OPAC now has old data, searching shows book results... everything. but XXX:XXX:XXX:XXX:8080 for admin area says: Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at 10.16.18.71:8080.
10:32 rangi sounds like your apache config is messed up
10:32 Oak hmm
10:32 Oak I'll pastebin
10:32 rangi check for a Listen 8080 line
10:33 rangi and did you set it up to run on 8080 ?
10:33 rangi when you were editing the koha-sites-conf.xml ?
10:38 Oak hmm, let me see
10:38 Oak adding Listen 8080 worked
10:38 Oak i have not edited the koha-sites-conf.xml
10:38 Oak will take a look at it now
10:39 Oak where is this file koha-sites-conf.xml located rangi ?
10:40 Oak by the way admin area is also working now...
10:41 Oak but i am kind of suspicious... i did very very little and everything is working fine?
10:41 Oak just your two commands
10:42 Oak i did just about this: http://pastebin.com/T8j1HdMh
10:43 Oak is it how backup gets restored? I did however tried using same usernames, passswords, etc for everything.
10:44 magnuse Oak: that's the beauty of the packages!

12:27 oleonard kf I like your idea, re: Bug 2733, of renaming the link to "print account." Or perhaps "print summary" (because I'm concerned that "account" implies just money-related information?)

12:27 oleonard ...although I'm not sure that "summary" is clear.

13:02 alaquerre Good morning everyone. - Question for you.  Is it possible to let user configure which field that are display on OPAC ?  Is there any plan regarding this issue.  We have 20 diffrents needs and it's getting hard to please everyone using the same codebase...
13:04 reiveune left #koha

13:10 oleonard alaquerre: What do you mean by "user?" Koha administrator or OPAC user?
13:10 oleonard ...although I guess the answer is no either way if you mean providing different views for different libraries using the same Koha installation
13:11 oleonard The best you can do is modify the XSLT, but that is a global change
13:13 dpavlin_ oleonard: doesn't bug 4032 enables local XSLT for each instance?
13:13 huginn Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org[…]w_bug.cgi?id=4032 enhancement, P3, ---, stephane.delaune, Pushed to Master , XSLT systempreference should take a path to file rather than YesNo
13:14 oleonard For each installation of Koha, but not for (for instance) each different library using that installation
13:14 oleonard still not sure if that's what alaquerre needs...
13:14 dpavlin_ true :-)
13:14 dpavlin_ BTW, hi, #koha! I'm working on http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Performance -- comments and questions are welcomed, and if it gets accepted I will talk about something like this on next KohaCon
13:17 alaquerre oleonard - Sorry did not see your anwser.  User here = Koha administrator.  So librarian would be able to add 742$v if they want to.  We currently have a global configuration for the 20 school we have and we have couple of people tha twould like to have much more control on the display.
13:18 oleonard I'm not aware of anyone working on per-library XSLT handling
13:19 * dpavlin_ confused: per-library = per branch, not separate koha-conf.xml sites?
13:19 alaquerre Each school have his own koha installation ... so look like we would be able to configure it using 4032.
13:19 alaquerre each library have his own server.

14:43 sekjal I missed that one
14:45 gmcharlt hdl: I'm not aware of any -- at a guess, sticking in homebranch as the bin ID might be a start
14:45 gmcharlt more generally, a mapping from homelibrary to bin number if the sorter expects them to be numeric
14:49 sekjal libsysguy:  I have some concern about grace periods in this code
14:49 sekjal it looks like we're trying to subtract an integer from a duration on line 263 of C4/Overdues.pm
14:51 sekjal oh, no, my mistake
14:51 sekjal it's an int, not a duration
14:51 sekjal the _get_chargeable_units subroutine needs some documentation
14:54 sekjal so... I'll add some.  also changing the name of the variable "days_minus_grace" to "units_minus_grace"
14:58 hdl gmcharlt: was thinking of a mapping of location to sortbin id rather
15:00 sekjal libsysguy:  running automated tests now, just to be thorough
15:00 sekjal but we should be good
15:02 gmcharlt hdl: possible needs both, or should support both, depending on whether AMH is sorting for within a library branch or among them

17:15 slef libsysguy: not sure. Look at paul's feature freeze timeline?
17:16 slef wahanui: feature freeze timeline?
17:16 wahanui bugger all, i dunno, slef
17:16 slef wahanui: 3.8 timeline?
17:16 wahanui no idea, slef
17:16 slef wahanui: feature freeze?
17:16 wahanui it has been said that feature freeze is 22nd Sept. 2011
17:16 slef wahanui: forget feature freeze
17:16 wahanui slef: I forgot feature freeze
17:16 libsysguy poor wahanui
17:17 slef wahanui: feature freeze is described at http://wiki.koha-community.org[…]ki/Roadmap_to_3.8
17:17 wahanui OK, slef.
17:17 slef libsysguy: looks like not. String freeze isn't until 6th.
17:17 libsysguy yeah i didn't know if that patch was considered a feature or not
17:18 slef libsysguy: question is whether it's major
17:18 libsysguy ahh
17:18 slef "By "major" I mean an enhancement that has many string change(s) and/or database change and/or introduce major changes in the core of Koha, with an important risk of side-effect."
17:18 slef yay!
17:18 libsysguy well it is constantly going on out date
17:18 slef np: David Bowie, Life on Mars
17:18 libsysguy I was hoping to get it in so I could add a little to it for a later release
17:18 slef libsysguy: ? not sure I understand
17:19 libsysguy i think Julian has rebased it 5 or 6 times
17:19 libsysguy poor guy
17:19 slef libsysguy: put it on the wiki and see if that attracts paul's attention?
17:20 slef it's biblibre... he should be symptathetic
17:20 libsysguy heh
17:21 libsysguy slef you mean put it in the bugs wiki?
17:21 slef libsysguy: I mean put it on the Roadmap_to_3.8 where he's discussing other bugs
17:21 libsysguy ahh ok
17:21 slef you could also do this...
17:22 slef oh wait
17:22 slef needs QA
17:22 libsysguy yeah
17:22 libsysguy we need a ping function on here
17:22 slef so sekjal are you there?
17:22 libsysguy ping QA
17:22 libsysguy lol
17:23 libsysguy feels guilty for pinging sekjal twice in one day
17:23 slef I can't remember.  Am we allowed to QA if we follow the coding_guildeines
17:23 slef wahanui: coding guidelines?
17:23 wahanui coding guidelines are http://wiki.koha-community.org[…]Coding_Guidelines
17:23 slef bah
17:24 sekjal sorry, was on my other computer
17:24 slef right off, it's non-standard SQL... no quotes at all, not very safe

17:25 slef yeah
17:25 slef yay!
17:25 libsysguy yeah its the one I need for my senior project :p
17:25 slef now playing: Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody
17:26 slef libsysguy: got time to fix the SQL?
17:26 slef libsysguy: 90% sure it should be ""s not ``s in standard SQL
17:26 libsysguy yeah I can fix it
17:27 slef Is this a database-only patch?
17:27 libsysguy now its also got tt code
17:27 libsysguy and...
17:27 slef not in the non-obsolete patches it hasn't
17:27 slef or is there a git tree I should be looking at?
17:27 slef ok, I'm blundering around :)
17:28 libsysguy oh man I think it attached the wrong patch
17:28 sekjal the two attached patches to 5339 are looking to be the same (both DB edits)
17:28 libsysguy yeah it looks like Julian just attached the wrong one
17:28 sekjal unfortunately, without the attached code edits, this part cannot go in on it's own
17:29 libsysguy ill mark it failed
17:29 sekjal since it'll break a bunch of SQL queries that still refer to the old tables
17:29 slef libsysguy: thanks
17:29 libsysguy and leave a comment
17:29 libsysguy *smh*
17:29 sekjal I'd recommend bundling the database changes with the code, since their interdependent
17:29 slef can we mark it: leg-chewingly-frustrating too?

19:28 rangi Morning
19:28 alaquerre Hi all, Question about : serialsUpdate.pl.  This cronjob task is to automatically set to late any issue.  I may have found a problem but I would like to see if this is they way it should be.
19:29 alaquerre In the serial, we do have a grace period and it's correctly taken into consideration in the select ( line 55 ). But the cronjob do another validation (Line 72 ) to know when is the next item to arrive.
19:30 alaquerre The grace period is valid ONLY if it's smaller then the periodicity.
19:31 alaquerre If I have a grace period of 15 day with a serial that I receive only once a year, I will need to wait 365 days before the "Automatically set to late" get applied.
19:32 alaquerre Any reason it's like that ? :-)

19:52 cait I think tsting if I did break the sql is enough
19:52 cait I can read it - but most words are not in my vocabulary
19:52 mbalmer The SQL looks absolutely fine to me.
19:53 mbalmer and it shows a nice MySQLism, we have to find a solution for (in the future):  LAST_INSERT_ID().  But don't care for that for now.
19:54 mbalmer your patch is ok.
19:54 mbalmer and I really appreciate that people start to omit MySQLisms.
19:55 cait I am not sure it's needed here really

19:57 cait ok
19:59 mbalmer hi owen...

20:00 jcamins Why do we use LAST_INSERT_ID in pure .sql files?

20:01 mbalmer jcamins, yes.  Will fix it laters
20:02 cait jcamins: I have no idea why they did it

20:02 sekjal I don't think there is a standard for last_insert_id
20:02 jcamins mbalmer: I meant, just in general, LAST_INSERT_ID seems like it should only be used in code that does processing.
20:02 mbalmer yeah, we will find a portable way one day,
20:02 jcamins (and there not so much)
20:03 jcamins Actually, using LAST_INSERT_ID seems like a bad idea in any RDBMS.
20:03 mbalmer ack.
20:03 rangi 7:59 <@rangi> dbi can do that, so most of the time you can use that
20:03 rangi jcamins: its ok in a transaction

20:07 mbalmer not in this case, cait ;P
20:07 oleonard slef: You applied just the Administration one?
20:07 mbalmer oleonards patches are low hanging fruit, and I can spend some time on these.
20:07 jcamins sjeffery: you could search for invalid characters using SQL.
20:08 mbalmer the PostgreSQL changes are post 3.8 anyways
20:08 oleonard cait++ # for testing DataTables patches
20:08 cait oleonard: it looked so innocent.. and then I saw the list of patches
20:08 jcamins SELECT biblionumber FROM biblioitems WHERE marcxml LIKE "[forgot the syntax here, but you're looking for the hex value E8]"
20:08 sjeffery jcamins: Search directly in the database vs from within Koha?
20:09 jcamins You could do it with reports, or with direct command line access.
20:10 jcamins If I'm actually awake, I'll do some signing off tomorrow morning during the meeting.
20:10 cait hm
20:10 cait how many hours until the meeting?
20:11 mbalmer I'll be present at the meeting, but will be mostly passive.
20:11 oleonard 14 hours isn't it?
20:11 mbalmer cait, 10 UTC, 12:00 your time, I guess
20:11 wizzyrea ouch 5am here
20:11 cait ok
20:11 cait time zones always confuse me
20:12 * wizzyrea too
20:12 cait wizzyrea: still better than 3 am!
20:12 wizzyrea yes
20:12 mbalmer yeah, there are so many of them ;P
20:12 wizzyrea true
20:12 sjeffery no kidding!
20:12 jcamins 6am here, thankfully.
20:12 wizzyrea rule 1?
20:12 wahanui hmmm... rule 1 is "Don't Be A Dick!"
20:12 wizzyrea ah.
20:12 jcamins Myshkin will be delighted.
20:12 jcamins He feels that 5:45 is the appropriate time for me to wake up.
20:13 sekjal rule 2?
20:13 jcamins sekjal: I don't think you really need any more rules, when you have rule 1.
20:13 mbalmer "Don't Be A Pussy¨"
20:14 sekjal personally, I use "Chill Out" as rule 2
20:14 cait jcamins: myshkin! how does he like the new apartment?
20:15 * wizzyrea prefers sekjal's rules
20:15 jcamins cait: he _loves_ it.
20:15 cait hehe
20:16 mbalmer ???
20:17 jcamins logs?
20:17 wahanui it has been said that logs is http://irc.koha-community.org/irclog/koha/
20:19 mbalmer I dislike that the IRC logs are kept publicly.  It could be a reason for me to quit the channel.
20:19 oleonard I find the IRC logs to be essential
20:19 * wizzyrea too
20:19 * jcamins too
20:19 cait It's always been logged
20:20 jcamins It encourages transparency and good behavior.
20:20 rangi since 2000 in fact
20:20 cait which pretty much is always :)
20:20 libsysguy yeah I like to go back and see how far I've come
20:20 * wizzyrea too
20:20 wizzyrea it's funny.
20:20 sekjal too much important data is transmitted in chat; I often find answers to questions in old IRC logs
20:20 * jcamins only appeared twice prior to 2008.
20:21 libsysguy when I first started I was like *derp* how do you install this thing :p
20:21 cait hm... sometimes not so much, but still good
20:21 jcamins lol
20:21 mbalmer it's voluntary "vorrartsdatenspeicherung"
20:21 cait I got really annoyed about unicode normalizations
20:21 cait because all the umlauts looked wrong
20:21 wizzyrea pretty sure all of mine were "can you make koha make toast"
20:21 cait it really took too long to figure that out :)
20:21 wizzyrea @quote get 123
20:21 huginn wizzyrea: Quote #123: "rangi: #thingsihavelearnt if there is a mad scheme a library somewhere will be doing it ... except madder" (added by wizzyrea at 09:20 PM, March 30, 2011)
20:21 wizzyrea ^^ a la this
20:22 jcamins My first questions were kind of embarrassing, yeah, but when I know I asked something dumb before, I can find the answer without demonstrating that I still don't get it. ;)
20:22 libsysguy im out for a bit to do some yoga
20:22 libsysguy I'll read the logs to catch up later :p
20:22 wizzyrea later libsysguy
20:22 libsysguy later #koha
20:22 mbalmer I feel uncomfortable that my statements are public, and that every discussion is public and logged.
20:22 mbalmer You guys know my email address.
20:22 sjeffery I think my first question was along the lines of "why is analytics support so lacking?" followed by having to explain to people what analytics are:(
20:23 jcamins sjeffery: I guess I wasn't around when you first signed on? ;)
20:23 mbalmer joined #koha
20:23 sjeffery Yeah, you were. I think your response was along the lines of OMG OMG OMG another analytics person!
20:24 jcamins sjeffery: and I'm *still* like that.
20:24 jcamins Okay, so some of us don't really change much. ;)
20:25 sekjal analytics are pretty cool.  I still want to generalize them to arbitrary biblio relationships, though
20:25 cait sekjal: yeah, that would be cool :)
20:25 rangi im pretty sure the last 12 years of my ones can be summed up as 'Wow .. MARC is crap'
20:26 jcamins lol
20:26 cait lol
20:26 cait and 'Libraries are crazy'? :)
20:26 rangi that too
20:26 rangi and 'you want what????'
20:26 cait hehe
20:27 wizzyrea @quote get 123

20:27 oleonard rangi: The rest of the world had to butt in and spoil a good thing ;)
20:28 * oleonard notices it's time to leave
20:28 oleonard Bye #koha. See you 13.5 hours
20:28 rangi cya oleonard
20:28 wizzyrea bye
20:28 rangi oh and hey, atarau has inhereited the fish
20:28 rangi you gave kahu
20:28 rangi he took it to kindy
20:29 wizzyrea he's old enough for that!? *weeps8
20:30 rangi https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGci2Vi2tv8
20:30 rangi we are bad parents
20:30 wizzyrea seems unlikely
20:31 wizzyrea hungry hippos is a great game
20:31 rangi yes but trying to make your kid call it 'eat balls' is a bit immature :)
20:32 wizzyrea pfft. That's what children are for
20:32 wizzyrea to let your inner 2 year old out :)
20:33 liw this is why I don't need children: my inner 2-year-old is running my life anyway
20:33 rangi heh :)
20:33 wizzyrea hehe!
20:34 * wizzyrea imagines a tantrumming liw
20:34 cait :)
20:39 * jcamins calls it a day.
20:39 rangi wow, so cool

20:40 jcamins Good night, #koha.
20:40 druthb :)  howdy, friends.
20:40 wizzyrea hey ruth
20:41 schuster I have a Zebra question.  I have exported my data for an index but then when Zebra starts I am getting this error  zebraidx(2638) [warn] Cannot access path /tmp/RRqG2imNQS/biblio [No such file or directory]
20:42 schuster I don't see a /tmp/xxx - ??
20:43 libsysguy joined #koha
20:43 libsysguy logs?
20:43 wahanui well, logs is http://irc.koha-community.org/irclog/koha/
20:44 rangi how did you run rebuild_zebra.pl ?
20:46 schuster So it "exported" all of the records and then died with the above error on the screen
20:49 sekjal off for the day.  see you in ~ 13 hrs, #koha!
20:55 rangi schuster: you didnt run out of disk?
20:56 rangi /tmp in particular
20:56 schuster no - I'm going to run it with -k this time and see what happens
20:56 rangi good plan, and -v
20:57 schuster yep -b -r -x -v -k -w
20:58 rangi cool
20:58 schuster yish flickering lights...

22:37 slef @later tell oleonard no but did you want the details of the patches that applied fine? I assumed the patches were fairly orthogonal and just included the one that failed to git bz
22:37 huginn slef: The operation succeeded.
22:38 maximep left #koha
22:42 jcamins Did t/00-merge-conflict-markers.t always take this long to run?
22:45 rangi takes me about 3 secs
22:45 jcamins Yeah, that's how long I think it usually takes.
22:45 * jcamins runs it again.
22:46 jcamins This time it was quick. Must've been something running in the background.

22:58 bag ha that's great eythian
23:03 jcamins How do I reset the T::T cache?
23:03 jcamins Wait... that didn't make it into Koha yet, did it?
23:04 eythian jcamins: if you have it, a) it's unlikely you'll need to reset it, and b) to do so, just delete the cached filed.
23:05 jcamins eythian: I was talking about the memcached include caching, which isn't in Koha yet.
23:05 eythian oh right
23:05 eythian T::T has the ability to have multiple caches :)
23:07 jcamins Yup. :)
23:12 schuster ok well it says it finished...  The export takes the most time and evidently when I ran the index yesterday it was as the wrong user so in the tmp file there were files owned by root so the correct user couldn't overwrite them that is what was causing my problem.
23:12 schuster BLAH! - ok will work more on that tomorrow!
23:19 schuster joined #koha
23:19 schuster nothing found while searching... blah...  in the log I see this: zebrasrv(1)  [warn] ir_session (exception)  - what does that mean?
23:20 jcamins Hm. There are a lot of incorrect capitalizations, aren't there?
23:25 libsysguy what controls the main staff page?
23:26 eythian lasers.
23:26 libsysguy magic?
23:29 jcamins libsysguy: how do you mean?
23:29 libsysguy well I was looking for the code that populated that page
23:30 libsysguy you know…like all the circ stuff is in /circ
23:30 libsysguy and acquisitions is in /acqui
23:30 jcamins mainpage.pl.
23:30 libsysguy doh
23:41 jcamins I'm getting an error on xt/author/Test_CSV_Various.t because I don't have Text::CSV::Unicode.
