i'm using koha 3.2.0...but i would like to upgrade to the latest 3.4.1, can anyone guide me on how to upgrade it? |
01:13 |
|
slef |
steven: have you seen the UPGRADE section of the INSTALL file in the download? |

so in term of variable and database structure using between 3.2.0 and 3.4.1....is there any changes? |

im hoping my 3m problem turns out to be a hardware clock bug :/ |

so how is the command for upgrading? |

so... i recommend git |

bcoz i m using ubuntu.... |
01:32 |

there are no packages for 3.4 yet, but they will hopefully be coming with the nest release, there were issues that had to be fixed. |
01:32 |

nope |
08:37 |

i think maybe you can get 2.2.9 to work, but that is really old now |

so its purly based on linux |
08:38 |

Windows? |

|
imageologist |
yeah i found it on http://www.koha.rwjr.com/Koha_[…]indows.html#d0e64 |
08:39 |
|
magnuse |
the problem is that some of the perl modules koha needs are not easily available for windows at the moment |
08:39 |
|
imageologist |
but really its too old... and nothing found any good support regarding 2.2.9 release |
08:39 |
|
slef |
Windows is a poor fit for free software like Koha. Some of the thing's we use heavily are not easily available at the moment. No-one's funded Koha 3.x for Windows and I'm not sure who'd be willing to work on it. You are probably best off using a liveCD for testing, then commissioning a GNU/Linux server. |
08:40 |
|
magnuse |
but i have heard rumors that http://strawberryperl.com/ will fix this, but i'm not sure when and how |
08:40 |
|
slef |
damn, ytpo, never mind |
08:40 |
|
slef |
imageologist: any reason not to use GNU/Linux for it? |
08:40 |
|
magnuse |
running linux w/koha in a virtual machine is also an option |
08:41 |
|
slef |
yeah, server, virtual server, all is good |
08:41 |
|
imageologist |
yeah currently i'm testing this VM |
08:41 |

imageologist |
on Linux |
08:42 |
|
magnuse |

Windows is, like, a poor fit for free software like Koha. Some of the thing's we use heavily are not easily available at the moment. No-one's funded Koha 3.x for Windows and I'm not sure who'd be willing to work on it. You are probably best off using a liveCD for testing, then commissioning a GNU/Linux server |

hmm that's odd |

it looks like when you do a patron search |
17:17 |
|
wizzyrea |
at least in my system |
17:17 |
|
wizzyrea |
it's doing some kind of alphabetical list, but it's not really alphabetizing... as if you click to the 2nd page |
17:18 |
|

people that should have been on the 1st page are listed there, newly alphabetized |

sekjal to hide opac items would it just be easier to use the OpacHiddenItems setting? |
18:08 |
|
sekjal |
library_systems_guy: I'm not sure that that system preference is working properly... |
18:08 |
|

but ideally, yes, that's how you'd hide individual items, but not the whole title |
18:10 |

I think what we are trying to accomplish is hiding brief titles such as ILL's etc |
18:15 |
|

library_systems_guy: for that, I'd recommend creating (or using) a specific framework for such titles, and setting 942$n to default to 1, then turn on OpacSuppress |

on debian? |
22:34 |

i run zebrasrv -f /etc/koha/koha-conf.xml to run manually |

|
talljoy |
yes debian |
22:35 |

what user do you run that as? |
22:35 |

root |
22:35 |

so its a permissions thing |
22:35 |

i thought root ruled them all? |
22:35 |

rangi |
if you look at the /etc/init.d/koha-zebra-daemon script |
22:36 |
|
talljoy |
yes |
22:36 |

rangi |
you will see its running as not root (probably as koha) |

22:36 |

root |

you will have to chown the dirs, to koha |

then run rebuild_zebra.pl as koha |
22:37 |
|
rangi |
eg |
22:37 |

rangi or eythian: i created my first package with build-git-snapshot and installed with sudo dpkg -i koha-common_3.4-1~git+20110522163502.cdf32da0_all.deb; sudo apt-get -f install. now i created an updated version of the package, do i upgrade with the same commands, or is there some other mojo? |
23:17 |
|
rangi |
thats it |
23:18 |
|
rangi |
you shouldnt ned the -f install though |
23:18 |
|
rangi |
just the dpkg -i |
23:18 |
|
* eythian |
deletes what he typed |
23:18 |
|
rangi |
next step would be to build your own repo |
23:18 |
|
eythian |
what rangi said |
23:18 |
|
rangi |
and put the package in there |
23:18 |
|
rangi |
then just apt-get update; apt-get upgrade |
23:18 |
|
magnuse |
yeah, the thought has passed my mind, but i'll try to get the packages working first... |
23:18 |
|
rangi |
(when you get a few sites running that becomes very very useful) |
23:19 |
|
rangi |
*nod* |
23:19 |
|
magnuse |
but just dpkg -i to upgrade, no apt-get? |
23:19 |
|
rangi |
yep |
23:19 |
|
magnuse |
cool, thanks! |
23:19 |
|
rangi |
unless it grizzles about unmet dependencies |
23:20 |
|
rangi |
(unlikely) |
23:20 |
|
magnuse |
shouldn't do that, i think |
23:21 |
|
magnuse |
hm, it does complain about a missing package called xmlstarlet |
23:22 |
|
rangi |
ah yeah, ull want that :) |
23:29 |
|
magnuse |
hm, that helped, but i'm running into trouble because i have a half-removed instance left over from my koha-remove trouble. i get: |
23:29 |
|
magnuse |
sudo koha-remove demo |
23:29 |
|
magnuse |
Removing Koha instance demo |
23:29 |
|
magnuse |
ERROR 1396 (HY000) at line 1: Operation DROP USER failed for 'koha_demo'@'%' |
23:30 |
|
eythian |
it's a pain when it fails, because it aborts the whole process. I need to make it more robust. |
23:31 |
|
eythian |
Usually when that happens I remove it by hand. |
23:31 |
|
magnuse |
login to mysql as root and remove the user and database? |
23:31 |
|
eythian |
yeah |
23:32 |
|
eythian |
and /etc/koha/sites/demo, /etc/apache2/sites-*/demo, /var/lib/koha/demo |
23:33 |
|
eythian |
and deluser koha-demo |
23:33 |
|
eythian |
I should make a 'force remove' option that just busts through and does what it can. |
23:34 |
|
eythian |
Patches welcome ;) |
23:38 |
|
rangi |
hmm someone gonna do a write up for patch day? |
23:38 |
|
rangi |
33 changed status eh? |
23:38 |
|
eythian |
where does one define routing lists? Are they attached to a subscription? |
23:38 |
|
rangi |
yes |
23:42 |
|
magnuse |
rangi: i thought i'd do a summary and suggest another day for july 8th, when biblibre are having their first sign off etc half day (unless they want to have the day to themselves, of course) |
23:43 |
|
magnuse |
havn't gotten the time for it yet, but will do it tomorrow |
23:46 |
|
magnuse |
thanks for your help rangi & eythian - the upgrade worked, but sadly not my attempt to fix my css problem... better start diggin around again |
23:46 |
|
eythian |
it's a start, anyway :) |
23:46 |
|
magnuse |

23:48 |

rangi |

23:48 |

magnuse |

magnuse |

23:50 |
|
magnuse |

23:50 |
|
rangi |

23:50 |
|
magnuse |
