01:30 wizzyrea omgosh, it's updating in realtime
01:40 papa hey rangi, u there?
01:41 rangi yep
01:41 eythian kids these days, unable to spell words in full. What is this world coming to?
01:42 dcook That is pretty neat

01:44 rangi i think bag is off eating steak
01:44 papa so what do we do?
01:46 rangi jump on the catalyst koha channel and i can show you some wrms

02:16 drojf oh cait1 sleepwalked out of the channel already ;)
02:17 eythian jup\
02:24 drojf *not only
02:25 eythian oh right
02:33 eythian haha
02:34 wizzyrea not if they're at all any good!
02:34 wizzyrea (and can be convinced to be nice)
02:34 drojf they are not :P
02:41 drojf oh look it's sunrise :/
02:41 eythian it can't be sunrise
02:41 eythian the sun is still up here (in theory)
02:41 * dcook peeks out the window
02:42 eythian (this may not be fact, I can't actually see it through the weather.)
02:42 dcook It's light but I see no sun
02:43 drojf i think i have another 10 minutes until it really starts, but my monitor already switched to daylight
02:43 dcook eythian: But it could always be worse: http://www.vancitybuzz.com/201[…]due-to-wildfires/
02:44 wizzyrea hey, the days are getting longer now.
02:44 eythian dcook: I've seen that once when the fires in Australia were particularly big
02:44 drojf @wunder berlin, germany
02:44 huginn` drojf: The current temperature in Berlin Tegel, Germany is 15.0°C (4:20 AM CEST on July 07, 2015). Conditions: Clear. Humidity: 82%. Dew Point: 12.0°C. Pressure: 30.04 in 1017 hPa (Steady).
02:44 dcook eythian: Yeah, I recall seeing similar photos sometime in the past few years... I think I was in Canada at the time
02:44 wizzyrea 15 is a nice temp
02:44 eythian I got up and the sky was mello yello coloured
02:44 * dcook seems to dodge the big smoke
02:44 wizzyrea gross
02:45 dcook ick
02:45 dcook to both mello yello and the colour
02:45 eythian heh
02:45 dcook @wunder syd
02:45 huginn` dcook: The current temperature in Bardwell Park, Sydney, New South Wales is 14.9°C (12:45 PM AEST on July 07, 2015). Conditions: Overcast. Humidity: 65%. Dew Point: 8.0°C. Pressure: 30.12 in 1020 hPa (Steady).
02:45 eythian I have a photo somewhere, but it doesn't show up well due to white balancing
02:45 dcook Whites always causing problems :/
02:46 * dcook wishes he'd learned more in the photography course he did as a kid
02:46 dcook Mostly I just remember "flashing" a bunch of people in a church as part of the final project...
02:46 drojf you could always do another photography course?
02:47 dcook drojf: you're way too reasonable for this time of day
02:47 * dcook thinks drojf may have been replaced by a robot
02:47 drojf lol
02:47 dcook That's the real turing test, me thinks
02:47 eythian dcook: also, I'm sure flashing people in a church is frowned upon
02:47 dcook eythian: I was young and impressionable!
02:47 eythian long overcoat and all?
02:47 dcook I think it was a bathrobe
02:48 dcook I think I was about 10 or 11? Looking back, I'm not sure who thought this was a good idea
02:48 wizzyrea ...also admitting it in a logged channel ^.^
02:49 * dcook shrugs
02:49 dcook I'm a fairly open book
02:50 dcook As I aged, I got more vocal in my resistance to authority?
02:50 dcook Hmm, perhaps also not best to say in a logged channel
02:50 wizzyrea haha
02:50 wizzyrea it's the chilling effect, illustrated.
02:50 dcook Life's too hard to completely filter :p
02:52 dcook Plus, if you admit to most things, they'll find it harder to blackmail you later?
02:52 wizzyrea :)
02:53 drojf they'll blackmail you about the stuff they plant on your computer :(
02:54 dcook drojf: Aww... that's a good point. I hadn't thought of that.
02:54 dcook So what you're saying is... I need to invent a way to dissolve my computer on command
02:54 wizzyrea at least we'll know who put the backdoor there :P
02:54 wizzyrea thermite. it's the only way
02:55 dcook Thermite sounds really familiar...
02:55 dcook Hindenburg?
02:55 dcook Or was that a myth?
02:55 wizzyrea https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3ZkoNF2ybg
02:55 wizzyrea no, that's what took down the hindenberg, I think they finally decided
02:56 wizzyrea basically you take a metal oxide and mix it with some variant of aluminum
02:56 wizzyrea and you apply heat
02:56 wizzyrea and it melts damn near anything.
02:56 * dcook taps his fingers together joyfully
02:56 wizzyrea if it's iron oxide, you'll get pure iron out at the end.
02:57 wizzyrea https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euQUgp5AY-Y
02:57 wizzyrea this is the best one I know
02:57 wizzyrea video-wise
02:58 wizzyrea iron oxide, and aluminium powder
02:58 drojf looks like it will get the job done. is there a cd drive slot version for thinkpads? :D
02:58 dcook I love how some people say "aluminium"
02:58 wizzyrea it's the british way. There's a video about that as well.
02:58 dcook Do kiwis say it too?
02:58 eythian it's the non-US way, wizzyrea :)
02:58 * dcook thinks Aussies do
02:59 wizzyrea there you go
02:59 dcook eythian: We say "aluminum" in Canada too
02:59 dcook Oh..
02:59 eythian dcook: that's your own fault :)
02:59 wizzyrea the non-north-american way?
02:59 eythian what do they call it in mexico?
03:00 dcook That's the real question
03:00 wizzyrea 2.26 is the most impressive bit
03:00 wizzyrea on that last video
03:00 dcook I'm at 2:22 atm
03:00 dcook That's neat!

03:10 wizzyrea eh, up to you :)
03:10 drojf i would try to enter a number after -n
03:10 drojf because how could it not mean number? ;)
03:11 mtj coz, man page told yoo :)
03:11 eythian never, ever ever have a negative option please
03:11 eythian ever
03:12 mtj $ sudo koha-passwd -p instance
03:12 eythian * exceptions will be reviewed by a committee on a case-by-case basis
03:12 mtj ..where -p is --prompt
03:12 eythian What is prompt/no-prompt going to do?
03:13 mtj ..prompts for a key press, before clearing  the screen
03:13 eythian why is that a better idea than autodetecting whether it's necessary?
03:14 drojf do we have a negative commandline option committee manager?
03:14 eythian nope
03:14 wizzyrea ^ that guy
03:14 eythian decisions may take a while
03:14 drojf we should
03:14 drojf i'll add it on the agenda for tomorrow's meeting
03:14 eythian OK

03:15 mtj ah, sorry i might need to re-read the bug more ... ignore my comments ^
03:15 drojf i actually postponed agpl because we will have enough fun with bylaws and all the other stuff

05:03 eythian dcook: your email was that boring?
05:03 eythian that it put her to sleep?
05:03 dcook eythian: It probably could've worked for that purpose, yes. ;)
05:10 andreashm dcook: well, she does. but she's only five weeks old so she still sleeps very irregurarly.
05:11 dcook Is she only five weeks? I remember you mentioning when she was born, but I thought it'd been longer than that..
05:12 dcook I'm glad it's only been 5 weeks since then for my sake, but I hope you're able to get some rest soon ;)
05:18 andreashm I try to sleep when I can! =)

09:29 wizzyrea_ my case for it is the / and not the backslash though. Hangs on "Processing" every time
09:55 * wizzyrea_ goes away now
09:55 wizzyrea_ farewell for now, friends.
10:18 gaetan_B what are the plans to implement ebsco's rtac at the moment? i think this is part of the deal with the grant isn't it?
10:22 cait gaetan_B: maybe ask at the meeting tomorrow - bag would know i guess
10:22 gaetan_B ah, i'll be out for a meeting tomorrow unfortunately...
10:22 gaetan_B *another* meetin g;)
10:42 kivilahtio too bad we are travelling to Mikkeli tomorrow to have a peer-training seminar
10:43 kivilahtio gaetan_B: what do you mean with rtac?
10:44 gaetan_B kivilahtio: this is ebsco's rest api to get item related information live i think
10:44 kivilahtio ahh
10:44 kivilahtio gaetan_B: I am working on it
10:44 gaetan_B availability and all
10:44 gaetan_B oooh
10:44 kivilahtio gaetan_B: but there are a lot of hurdles to overcome
10:44 kivilahtio gaetan_B: regarding authentication and testing
10:45 gaetan_B isn't it linked to the rest api ?
10:45 kivilahtio gaetan_B: yes
10:46 kivilahtio to be able to make a smart authentication system for the REST API we need to take a new look at how we do authentication in Koha
10:46 gaetan_B but our rest api is not just ebsco's requirements applied to koha is it?
10:46 kivilahtio gaetan_B: to be able to test the smart authentication system, we need to take a new look at how we do integration testing n Koha :)
10:46 kivilahtio gaetan_B: not for me it isn't
10:47 gaetan_B ok, i guess it's a prerequisite for us to have this rest api before we can build ebsco's rtac on top of it
10:47 kivilahtio I thought the rest api is the rtac
10:47 * gaetan_B is confused
10:47 kivilahtio EBSCO didnät give any specific instructions on how to implement the interfaces
10:48 kivilahtio EBSCO just said we need to provide the necessary interfaces in whatever form we desire
10:48 gaetan_B what are the necessary interfaces ?
10:48 kivilahtio I think as a community we decided to implemet them as REST API using Mojolicious
10:48 kivilahtio gaetan_B: cant remember
10:49 kivilahtio I think most/all of them have been implemented by jajm
10:49 gaetan_B yes, i will check with him after lunch
11:10 cait kivilahtio: we never acually made a real decision there
11:10 cait not in a meeting
11:10 kivilahtio cait: ok
11:10 cait in the last dev meeting (second part) there was quite a discussion actually about it
11:11 kivilahtio cait: yes there was
11:11 cait i think it sounds like we are far overcomplicating things right now
11:11 kivilahtio cait: I didn't get such an impression
11:12 cait my personal opinion :) we will see how things work out
11:13 kivilahtio cait: well I am not seeing it tomorrow

14:22 JRJML_Director Postfix
14:23 JRJML_Director i'm not sure which 3.18
14:24 cait the easiest way to check your exact version is going to the about koha page in the staff client - and pasting the longer number if you are not sure - but it's probably not the problem here

14:26 gaetan_B if you do, no problem with your mta, it's koha setup

14:27 gaetan_B otherwise check postfix
14:30 JRJML_Director There was an error sending the cart.
14:31 cait hm strange
14:35 gaetan_B JRJML_Director: another place you can check is on user's account, someone who has late documents and should have received notices, there is a notices tab where you might see if notices have been generated and their status
14:35 gaetan_B but if you get this error message at the opac when sending the cart, then i'd say it's a system problem
14:35 gaetan_B you should check with your it staff whether the server can send emails
14:36 gaetan_B unfortunately email is really complicated and can get stuck at a lot of places

15:15 JRJML_Director i'm 100% satisfied with his explanations for it not being a problem with our mail server
15:15 JRJML_Director our mail server works fine for everything except koha
15:20 JRJML_Director and when i put in a ticket for it i get no response from koha
15:23 JRJML_Director Koha techs told me it was PostFix. Local IT responded directly to them (weeks ago) that it must be the SMTP in Koha.
15:24 JRJML_Director and I kept posting, asking for any kind of information or updates from Koha and got zero response
15:24 JRJML_Director for one whole month
15:24 tcohen JRJML_Director: can you take a look at /usr/share/perl5/Mail/Sendmail.pm ?
15:24 tcohen %mailcfg = (...)
15:25 tcohen i'm interested in the line
15:25 tcohen 'smtp' => ...
15:26 JRJML_Director there is no such line
15:27 JRJML_Director there is %mail = (...)
15:27 JRJML_Director and there is $mail{Smtp} = '...';
15:27 tcohen what OS are you on?
15:27 JRJML_Director Linux
15:27 tcohen distribution?
15:28 JRJML_Director multiple
15:28 pianohacker multiple?
15:28 tcohen koha, what linux distribution is Koha installed on
15:28 JRJML_Director koha is installed on lubuntu i believe
15:28 tcohen can u run lsb_release -a ?
15:29 tcohen paste the line that starts with
15:29 tcohen Description:
15:29 JRJML_Director oh whoops
15:30 JRJML_Director i found it o_O
15:30 JRJML_Director 'smtp'    => [ qw( localhost ) ],
15:30 tcohen JRJML_Director: that sounds good no matter what it is
15:30 tcohen ah, yes
15:30 tcohen ok, so your setup points to localhost
15:31 tcohen can u run
15:31 tcohen netstat -antp | grep 25?
15:32 JRJML_Director it lists several TCP ports
15:32 tcohen does any of the lines end with /master?
15:34 JRJML_Director no
15:34 tcohen ps waux | grep postfix ?
15:35 tcohen it is possible that postfix is not running at all
15:38 JRJML_Director a bunch of data followed by the line --color=auto postfix
15:38 JRJML_Director so postfix is running then
15:39 tcohen JRJML_Director: your Sendmail.pm file specifies that your Perl stuff is going to use localhost:25 for SMTP
15:39 tcohen and you don't have an SMTP running, on port 25 in localhost
15:39 tcohen s/SMTP/SMTP server/
15:40 tcohen so, you can change Sendmail.pm to match your (infrastructure's) SMTP server
15:40 tcohen or you can install/configure Postfix in the Koha host, to act as a smart host, sending emails through your infrastructure's SMTP server
15:41 tcohen and that's all I can tell you because

17:39 cait have you set up the cronjobs?
17:39 pianohacker JRJML_Director: have you run process_message_queue.pl?
17:39 tcohen pianohacker: i tend to agree with you, we don't have a strong guideline about that
17:40 pianohacker ok, cool. Thanks, tcohen
17:40 tcohen the only 'design' issue might be related to the fact that some js stuff is outside the translatable directory
17:40 JRJML_Director no i have not
17:40 JRJML_Director what directory?
17:41 pianohacker tcohen: yeah, and that should probably not be scanned for strings
17:41 pianohacker JRJML_Director: did you install Koha from the debian package?
17:42 tcohen so, I wouldn't object if you splitted rancor in a sane way so the relevant (front-end) stuff can be picked by our current translation scripts
17:43 JRJML_Director I believe that is correct
17:44 JRJML_Director Yes Debian
17:45 pianohacker tcohen: it's currently split that way, actually. All the front-end stuff is stuffed into a .inc, with the back-end scripts in the non-language-specific js directory
17:46 tcohen pianohacker: it sounds perfect then :-D
17:46 pianohacker My goal is just to move the front-end JS from that .inc to language-specific .js files
17:46 pianohacker because the .inc is long and ugly :)
17:47 tcohen khall: cool
17:50 pianohacker JRJML_Director: you should then in theory be able to run /usr/share/koha/bin/cronjobs/process_message_queue.pl, but be warned that there might be a lot of built-up emails
17:50 JRJML_Director oh golly
17:50 JRJML_Director can i dump first?
17:51 JRJML_Director or will all previously unsent emails be sent
17:52 tcohen JRJML_Director: it is a queue, if they are marked to be sent, they will
17:52 pianohacker if you're totally okay with deleting all unsent emails, you can run /usr/share/koha/bin/cronjobs/cleanup_database.pl -m 0
17:54 JRJML_Director grrr command not found
17:54 JRJML_Director what program do i use to run .pl?
17:55 pianohacker well, that's odd. That should just work. Try:

17:55 tcohen locate cleanup_database.pl
