mjkerpan: it is exactly the same (for MARC21, for UNIMARC I think it is a different set of subfields), under your frameworks (the default one at least) you should have the 952 subfields (depending on how you have set up your frameworks) |

spin up a sandbox (https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Sandboxes), which already has the default sample data, to see what I mean https://sandbox.bywatersolutions.com/ |

hello people! so, my thing today, is polishing a dockerfile for a Koha docker that can connect to an existing, empty, database on an external database server, and initialize a koha database on it, or run koha based on that external database. Not sure how I feel about having the docker itself create the database, would need to know the root mysql username/password.. people might be anxy about giving a random docker container, that |

level of information. Will also, later, have the docker have the ability to install it's own mysql server, and host it from within, but then, I don't know much about upgrades, and volume states etc. is binding /var/lib/mysql enough? |

Waylon Robertson: it's always pretty quiet here in the weekend, dcook and tcohen are probably the best people to ask when they are online |

952? |
01:47 |
|
mjkerpan[m] |
I assume I need to change that seperately for each Framework, then. |

Waylon Robertson: I would also suggest posting to the development mailing list as there is not yet an official docker for production, there is some work on docker being done (see 24.05 roadmap https://wiki.koha-community.or[…]i/Road_map_24.05), as well as some docker stuff (https://gitlab.com/koha-community/docker) |
01:51 |

Waylon Robertson: I mainly use koha-testing-docker (https://gitlab.com/koha-commun[…]a-testing-docker) for bug testing, but this is a development environment |
01:57 |
|
davidnind |
mjkerpan: I think you would have to if they aren't there already - I've generally only used the development environment with sample data, this has all the frameworks set up already - see https://koha-community.org/man[…]information-label |

Dockerfile i'm creating, is intended for production use, based on the debian koha repo. Using it successfully atm for a home library. Currently only got zebrasrv running. |

mjkerpan: Did you set up the frameworks yourself from scratch? Do you have item information already in Koha ? |
02:00 |

Waylon Robertson: tcohen and dcook are definitely the people to chat with, docker stuff is way over my head 8-) |
02:00 |
|
mjkerpan[m] |
I have lots of item info in Koha. |
02:01 |
|
mjkerpan[m] |
I'm using default frameworks from when we first started cataloging our library 9 years ago. |

When running some reports, I noticed that we had a bunch of records that had been added without a collection code or shelving location. I spent a bunch of time cleaning that up and would like to avoid having to do so in the future. |

We're a tiny nonprofit that relies on 100% volunteer labor, so mistakes sometimes happen. I just want to minimize them going forward |
02:06 |
|
davidnind |
mjkerpan: so in your OPAC > details page for a record > MARC view > view plain, you should be able to see what MARC tags and subfields are being used for the item holding information - this is normally 952 for MARC21 and 995 for UNIMARC. As you have item records already, then the subfields should be in the frameworks you are using already |
02:09 |
|
davidnind |
mjkerpan: so it should be a matter of making the subfields mandatory that you want to always be filled in, so 952$8 for collection codes, and 952$c for shelving location |
02:10 |
|
davidnind |
mjkerpan: Are you using MARC21 or UNIMARC? |
02:10 |
|
mjkerpan[m] |
Found it. It was 952. I've updated it for books, movies, and CDs. Those are the only things that circulate, so we should be fine ;) |

Hi all, I used to be active in the NZ library/digital scene under this handle and have tried to hide in local library work for a while, alas I've been forced into doing more meaningful work so I'm wanting to reconnect with the NZ scene by starting chats with a project whose philosophy I respect |

I'm starting a good project to help people I want to get right, so having a useful forum for conversation would be good |

No urgency, we've established the project I have 5 staff and 2 clients so if anyone wants to hear about it I'll create a room and join if you want cheers |

Happy to reconnect with anyone who remembers me mainly from #nethui and my online boastful rantings, not a boastful ranter now but still can rant a bit cheers again :) |
