Zahid: you have to install and configure an MTA (Mail Transport Agent), or have one available somewhere that you can use |

I've only setup email in the testing environment, so have no idea what else you need to do to configure email sending correctly - hopefully others can help |

Koha used to send from localhost, and still does by default, that's when you need an MTA installed and configured. |

That looks great - just point to an SMTP server (for example, your organisation's one), then emails will be sent. (once you've configured the various email addresses, and have email addresses for your patrons) |

hi! may I ask how important it is for koha to get the patrontype right? say: our ldap-server has no attribute that I can use to discriminate users and I have to set it to some static value. (patron seems sensible) so, if I enable updating from ldap during login all users I promoted to STAFF manually get demoted to patron again. as our loan periods are not effected by the patrons type (all * are created equal...) this does not hurt |
