00:33 wajasu looks like the only thing i need to change to go from chr to icu zebra, is to substitute "charmap word-phrase-utf.chr" -> "icuchain words-icu.xml" in the /etc/koha/zebradb/etc/default.idx in a couple of places.
00:33 wajasu and rebuild

01:34 drojf wajasu: what i see on my list is "install yaz-icu;  Syspref UseICU 'use'; Syspref QueryFuzzy 'don't try'; Syspref QueryStemming 'don't try'. then change the file you mentioned, look at words-icu.xml but do nothing for now; restart zebra and rebuild
01:35 drojf we did not do much after the change to verify it worked because other stuff was more important, but i could find cyrillic letters which i could not find before… hth

02:19 wajasu thanks for that info.
02:21 wajasu i did a diff before and after install with chr/icu varying.   i did notice those change ccl.properties compared to the current biblio pkgs.

08:01 nikumbhabhijeet hi
08:01 wahanui niihau, nikumbhabhijeet
08:02 nikumbhabhijeet we are having issues while configuring send notices
08:03 cait hi
08:03 wahanui que tal, cait
08:03 cait what is your problem?
08:03 nikumbhabhijeet system is running properly
08:03 nikumbhabhijeet postfix configured
08:04 cait which kind of notices do you have problems with?
08:04 cait which version of koha?
08:04 wahanui which version of koha are you using?
08:04 nikumbhabhijeet we can't send notices to borrowers
08:04 nikumbhabhijeet 3.06
08:04 nikumbhabhijeet koha 3.06
08:05 nikumbhabhijeet do you know about any proper documentation for configure notices
08:06 nikumbhabhijeet crontabs triggers, ad all
08:06 cait have you checked the manual?
08:06 cait manual?
08:06 wahanui well, manual is at http://www.koha-community.org/documentation
08:06 cait documentation?
08:06 wahanui i guess documentation is at http://koha-community.org/documentation/
08:06 cait also the cronjobs have their own documentation, if you run them with -h or --help
08:06 cait I would suggest
08:06 nikumbhabhijeet we refer the documents
08:06 cait 1) try sending out a cart mail, because they don't need the cronjobs
08:07 cait it will show if your mailserver works in principle
08:07 cait 2) make sure you have set up check-in/checkout slips, check out, checkin and look at the notices tab for this borrower, to see if the notices were generated
08:07 nikumbhabhijeet we conggured postfix with gmail
08:07 cait 3) make sure the cronjob process_messagequeue is set up to actually send the mails
08:08 cait until that runs they are only saved into the messagequeue table
08:08 nikumbhabhijeet no notices generated
08:08 nikumbhabhijeet we saw
08:08 cait so nothing in message_queue?
08:09 nikumbhabhijeet there are no notices at borrower notice
08:09 cait which notice did you try to generate? there are different types of notices
08:10 nikumbhabhijeet we found two notices
08:10 nikumbhabhijeet Checkouts email sent 2013-02-17 11:57:31 Check-ins email sent 2013-02-17 11:57:31
08:11 cait yep, they should have been sent out
08:11 nikumbhabhijeet wait wait i'll see mails
08:11 cait if they didn't arrive, check your mta configuration
08:13 nikumbhabhijeet it's working
08:13 nikumbhabhijeet ya its working
08:13 cait cool

08:16 nikumbhabhijeet have a nice day
08:17 cait bye
08:18 nikumbhabhijeet hi
08:18 nikumbhabhijeet we have an another question
08:18 nikumbhabhijeet ru there/
08:19 cait yes
08:19 cait what is the question?
08:19 wahanui the question is, like, "What is the meaning of life, the universe and everything?"
08:20 nikumbhabhijeet our system is not connected to internet  while making check-in and check-out transactions
08:21 nikumbhabhijeet after 10 pm we connect our system to internet
08:22 cait it will send out the notices as soon as the processmessagequeue job runs I think
08:22 nikumbhabhijeet is all notices generated between the time ---when offline--- are going to laps or send while connected
08:23 nikumbhabhijeet so we have to configure processmessagequeue on cron setting
08:23 cait all but cart emails I think
08:23 cait and claims in acquisitions and serials
08:23 nikumbhabhijeet at specific time
08:23 cait stuff like that would be send out immediately normally
08:24 nikumbhabhijeet like 5 am morning
08:24 nikumbhabhijeet everyday  like this
08:24 cait but everything that shows up in the tabs of borrowers will be sent out
08:24 nikumbhabhijeet ok ok
08:24 cait it's pending
08:24 cait the status
08:24 wahanui the status is clear
08:24 cait and then changes to sent
08:25 nikumbhabhijeet i am feeling good, because this is my first time to chat on koha community
08:25 cait it's pretty qiuet here on weekends

11:54 cait what is your question or problem?
11:54 mib_26jow2 first of all excuse me for my terrible english, i'm italian
11:56 mib_26jow2 i was able to install italian language an now i can activate it in I18N/L10N preference editor
11:56 mib_26jow2 but
11:56 mib_26jow2 nothing is changed
11:57 mib_26jow2 all is in english again
11:57 mib_26jow2 what is my mistake?
11:57 cait did you also activate the language chooser?
11:57 cait search the preferences again for 'lang'
11:57 mib_26jow2 ok
11:58 mib_26jow2 wait pls
11:58 cait make sure choosing the language is activated and then look at the footer of your pages
11:58 cait there should be English | Italian to switch between languages
11:59 mib_26jow2 i'm in
11:59 cait it worked?
12:00 mib_26jow2 home/administration/system preferences/I18N/L10N
12:00 mib_26jow2 i'm here
12:01 mib_26jow2 and the cross is on italian and not on english
12:02 mib_26jow2 both for language and OPAC language
12:03 mib_26jow2 any idea?
12:04 cait yes
12:04 cait but you have to switch
12:04 mib_26jow2 i don't see a switch
12:04 cait set opaclanguagesdisplay
12:04 cait to allow
12:04 cait go back to the start page - scroll down
12:04 mib_26jow2 i search
12:05 cait it's on the i18n page, the last entry
12:05 mib_26jow2 alreading done
12:05 mib_26jow2 and how i can switch?
12:06 cait click on italian
12:06 cait at the bottom
12:07 mib_26jow2 in i18n there is nothing to click
12:08 mib_26jow2 i can only enable language
12:09 mib_26jow2 what can i do?
12:12 mib_26jow2 it doesn't work
12:13 bgkriegel mib_26jow2: if you click on tab I18N/L10N, how many preferences you see?
12:15 mib_26jow2 2
12:15 mib_26jow2 ialian and english
12:16 cait preferences are all lines
12:16 cait every line in the table is one preference
12:16 cait and yes, you activated it
12:16 cait but scroll down on tha page
12:16 cait to the bottom
12:16 cait at the bottom of every page there is a  langauge chooser
12:17 mib_26jow2 i haven't it
12:17 cait maybe you didn't install the language properly
12:17 mib_26jow2 the last line on the bottom is to save
12:17 mib_26jow2 maybe
12:18 mib_26jow2 can i send you a print of my screen?
12:18 cait better use a service to upload it somewhere on the web
12:18 cait do you see the chooser on the link I sent you?
12:18 cait and is opaclanguagesdisplay ALLOW?
12:18 cait try
12:18 cait activating italian AND english
12:19 cait both checkboxes checked for each opac and intranet
12:19 mib_26jow2 ok, now i try
12:19 cait then go to the koha start page and check if the chooser appeared
12:21 mib_26jow2 wowowowowowow
12:21 mib_26jow2 it works!
12:22 mib_26jow2 i checked both italian and english
12:22 cait yay :)
12:22 mib_26jow2 so in the bottom the choice appeared
12:23 mib_26jow2 i click on italian
12:23 mib_26jow2 it worked
12:23 cait :)
12:23 mib_26jow2 and now i "put away" english
12:23 mib_26jow2 and all is good
12:24 cait heh
12:24 cait if the browser is installed in italian it hsould be ok
12:24 cait we normally also provide english, so the chooser stays visible
12:24 mib_26jow2 thank you very much
12:24 mib_26jow2 i'm very happy
12:24 cait :) have fun with Koha :)
12:26 mib_26jow2 in your opinion is better have the two choices?
12:26 cait I like it better, it's sometimes good for testing
12:26 cait but the browser should remember now
12:26 cait that you want to see italian
12:26 cait so it should not require you to select it again

12:28 cait switch to failed qa :)
12:28 cait no problem
12:28 bgkriegel ok
12:28 cait everybody can
12:28 cait when there is a reason, I think for a script that shuffles data around a -h would be very good
12:29 cait confirmation too, so it doesn't do anything until you really want to
12:29 mib_26jow2 i'll go... thank you very much, cait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
12:30 bgkriegel cait: I think so, but don't know
12:30 cait no problem :)
12:30 cait bgkriegel: do you want me to switch it?

12:32 bgkriegel WaylonR: how many records?
12:33 WaylonR unknown.
12:33 bgkriegel from an import?
12:34 WaylonR data entry.
12:34 wahanui hmmm... data entry is ok, for around 2500 books, i can import it from sidd's existing xls sheets
12:34 WaylonR wahanui, forget data entry
12:34 wahanui WaylonR: I forgot data entry
12:36 cait hm could you export them, fix them and reimport matching on biblionumber?
12:37 cait bgkriegel: could yo do me a quick favor?

12:38 cait go to the suggestions page and check the filters on the left
12:38 cait are they broken for you too?
12:39 bgkriegel empty boxes?
12:39 cait yeah
12:39 cait I only have blue boxes
12:39 bgkriegel then yes
12:39 cait *sigh*
12:40 cait I will file a bug :)
12:40 WaylonR cait, how do i fix wide characters?
12:42 cait not totally sure
12:47 bgkriegel cait: the text is there, but invisible. Must be a css thing
12:47 cait bgkriegel: maybe
12:47 cait trying to find it
12:47 cait the last changes on this page were to fix the filters
12:47 cait so that was hardly to bemissed... it must be some side effect
12:48 cait maybe I iwll just file a bug for now
12:48 cait investigating will take time :(
12:48 bgkriegel yeah
12:48 bgkriegel :(
12:50 cait done

12:52 Topic for #koha is now Welcome to #koha this channel is for discussion of the Koha project and software http://koha-community.org The next general meeting is 13 March 2013 at 18:00 UTC
12:56 bgkriegel cait: was the last merge, do a reset and legends shows up
12:57 cait ah so must have been owen's changes for bootstrap?
12:57 cait maybe note that on the bug?
12:57 cait i mean the merge that caused the problem?
12:58 bgkriegel I think so, the he need to make a solution:)
12:58 cait i think if it's the css owen will do a patch :)
13:20 bgkriegel cait: Bug 9651 is easy, but a question: when you delete a budget only asks Delete/Cancel, but delete funds is more polite :) Change to shorter version or simply fix?

13:20 cait hm
13:20 cait I think shorter :) but not really a preference
13:21 bgkriegel I'm thinking in consitency
13:21 cait yeah :)
13:21 cait i love consistenccy
13:21 cait but I would be happy if it just stopped being wrong too :)
13:34 bgkriegel cait: done
13:34 cait cool thx
13:35 bgkriegel :)
13:36 WaylonR is there a way to do a search and replace inside mysql?
13:36 WaylonR update marcxml from biblioitems where /widechars//
13:37 WaylonR or some such?
13:37 bgkriegel I think not
13:38 WaylonR [^\x00-\x7f] is how to find widechars in perl regex, how do i use this to find widechars in mysql?
13:39 bgkriegel if the wide chars are in marcxml, then I think they are also in marc (both columns). You need to change both
13:40 WaylonR oh...
13:40 WaylonR REGEXP CONCAT('[',UNHEX('00'),'-',UNHEX('7F'),']') ?
13:42 bgkriegel if you know perl, you could write a script to change the records
13:42 bgkriegel first load then, fix, and save
13:42 bgkriegel directly in Koha
13:42 bgkriegel in that way both columns are updated
13:45 jcamins_away If you do anything other than what bgkriegel describes, you will make the situation worse.
13:45 WaylonR if your talking about re-encoding, marc::charset::table kicks out a wide character error, even after the re-encoding inside modbiblio
13:47 jcamins_away Right, you have to write a script to do it.
13:47 bgkriegel Take a look at Bug 5608, not exactly what you need, but shows and example of how to write such script
13:47 huginn Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org[…]w_bug.cgi?id=5608 enhancement, P5 - low, ---, mdhafen, Failed QA , Tool to move MARC21 series info to 490 tag

21:35 cait morning eythian
21:35 eythian hello cait
21:36 wizzyrea something that Tim Berners-Lee said, that I felt was apt - was that one has to respect the sacrifice of those who work to develop at the speed of consensus.
21:36 wizzyrea as a lone company, or a small team, that's easy
21:36 wizzyrea not so easy when it's koha-sized
21:37 wizzyrea but still a worthy goal I think
21:38 cait yep
21:38 cait bit hard sometimes, but worth it
21:39 wizzyrea and as we've seen, going on your own doesn't always pay. :/
21:42 cait wizzyrea: could you take a look at bug 9253?
21:42 huginn Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org[…]w_bug.cgi?id=9253 minor, P5 - low, ---, jonathan.druart, Signed Off , If an item is reserved, at the opac it is marked as available
21:43 wizzyrea sure :)
21:45 wizzyrea well, an item is not available when it is in transit or waiting
21:45 wizzyrea currently though, you can't differentiate between a transfer that belongs to a hold
21:45 wizzyrea and a regular transfer
21:46 wizzyrea regarding availability, every library's definition is different - in some libraries items are available unless they are checked out
21:46 wizzyrea in others they are available only if they are not in transit or waiting or checked out
21:47 cait yeah that was what I was thinking
21:47 cait if it's on the shelf still, it's fair game
21:47 wizzyrea @quote get 123
21:47 wahanui http://xkcd.com/1172/
21:47 huginn wizzyrea: Quote #123: "rangi: #thingsihavelearnt if there is a mad scheme a library somewhere will be doing it ... except madder" (added by wizzyrea at 09:20 PM, March 30, 2011)
21:47 wizzyrea and any other variants
21:48 wizzyrea most places, I think, would agree that an item is unavailable and should be marked as such if an item is in transit for a hold, or waiting
21:48 cait what is in transit for a hold?
21:48 wizzyrea when you check out a book at library A for a patron at library b
21:48 cait I thik the items we are taking about here are neither
21:48 cait not necessarily
21:49 wizzyrea it will come up eventually
21:49 cait i am not sure I get the http://perldoc.koha-community.[…]CheckReservesdocs

22:39 jops hi all
22:39 cait hi jops
22:41 jops we happily made an istance of koha in our server for our library (social history)
22:43 jops we discovered that we have only the default MARC framework and don't know why we don't have the other frameworks as reported in the wiki. We don't know what went wrong in installation
22:43 cait you  have to tick a checkbox to get the additional framework
22:43 cait s
22:43 cait they are optional
22:43 cait which language is your installation?
22:44 cait tick the checkbox during installation
22:44 jops Installation language is in english
22:44 jops ah! right
22:45 jops so what do you suggest?
22:45 jops Can we recover it?
22:45 cait you can load them probably
22:46 cait you have to find the sql file that is used to create them and load that into your database
22:46 cait or you rerun the installer - but that will mean losing all the work you did so far
22:47 jops yes, we tried to find the sql with the frameworks
22:48 jops http://wiki.koha-community.org[…]i/MARC_frameworks
22:48 jops we were searching the books one
22:51 jops all this, is because we have added a catalog from another library that has few marc fields compiled
22:52 jops and the best for us, for cataloguing our books, wuold be a specific marc framework, less dispersive
22:53 cait the normal books is not a lot shorter
22:53 cait you might want to look into creating your own frameworks
22:53 jops ah ok
22:53 wizzyrea jops, the sql to import for the frameworks is in installer/data/mysql/en/marcflavour/marc21/optional
22:53 wizzyrea fastadd may be what you want
22:54 cait the sql files should be in installer/data/mysql/en/marcflavour/marc21/optional/
22:54 cait in your koha directory
22:54 jops ok, i-ll check it
22:54 cait ah now wizzyrea was faster
22:54 jops :)
22:54 wizzyrea like first time ever :)
22:54 cait heh
22:56 wizzyrea also simple bib
23:01 wizzyrea @wunder wellington, nz
23:01 huginn wizzyrea: The current temperature in Wellington, New Zealand is 18.0°C (11:00 AM NZDT on February 18, 2013). Conditions: Scattered Clouds. Humidity: 59%. Dew Point: 10.0°C. Pressure: 30.33 in 1027 hPa (Rising).
23:02 cait good night all :)
23:02 cait left #koha
23:02 eythian later caiter
23:05 jops thank you for your support cait
23:09 jops wizzyrea: we find the simple_bib you suggested. We have to import in the marc framework in the koha administration backend?
23:11 wizzyrea I haven't ever tried that, tbh. I was thinking something using the command line like mysql -ukoha_instance -p koha_instance < marc21_simple_bib_frameworks.sql - but I would try importing it through the interface (and let us know if it works)
23:12 wizzyrea koha_instance you replace with your instance name of course
23:12 wizzyrea at least the word "instance"
23:12 wizzyrea if you named your instance "library" it would be koha_library, for example
23:14 wizzyrea (all that assumes you are using the packages)
23:18 eythian if you are using the packages, use the koha-mysql command to get things into mysql.
23:18 eythian it'll save looking up passwords etc.
23:18 wizzyrea ^^ also this.
23:19 wizzyrea do it the other way if you used the tarball
23:19 jops thank you both, we execute the query directly in mysql
23:20 jops and it works. But actually there are more fields!
23:20 wizzyrea for fast add?
23:20 jops simple_bib
23:21 wizzyrea fast add is as short as it gets
23:21 jops and are absent the 200 and 215 fields
23:21 jops but maybe it's because we have an unimarc istance and the frameworks are for marc21?
23:22 jops ofastadd? ok we'll try it now
23:23 jops (and all because we have imported a pmb marc catalog from another library)
