00:34 informationstudies hi every one , i'm emtenan from kingdom of Saudi Arabia , cs college " information studies "  i've one question , How many libraries use Koha system ? !
00:35 drojf informationstudies: nobody knows. everybody can download and use it without registration
00:36 jcamins informationstudies: many.
00:37 jcamins worldwide koha users?
00:37 drojf informationstudies: you can search at http://www.librarytechnology.org/libwebcats/ but that only includes those that put it there
00:37 jcamins koha installations?
00:37 jcamins worldwide koha installations?
00:37 jcamins wahanui has failed me!
00:37 wahanui jcamins: what?
00:37 jcamins koha users worldwide?
00:37 informationstudies aha but my doctors give me this assignment =(  he wanna  numbers
00:37 jcamins worldwide koha users is http://wiki.koha-community.org[…]a_Users_Worldwide
00:38 jcamins informationstudies: you can tell count the number listed on the page there, and/or on libwebcats, but that's not a definitive answer.
00:38 jcamins There is no definitive answer.
00:38 jcamins The best you could do would be "at least X."
00:38 drojf lib-web-cats A directory of libraries throughout the world      found 1983 items where the library automation system used is  Koha sorted by: Institution, Type,HQ DESC,LibraryName.  Showing page 1 of 100
00:39 drojf so i'd say it's a lot more
00:41 jcamins Tons more, because that doesn't include libraries in the Phillipines, does it?
00:42 jcamins I think almost every library in the Phillipines is using Koha.
00:43 drojf found 263 items where the country is  Philippines and the library automation system used is  Koha sorted by: Institution, Type,HQ DESC,LibraryName.  Showing page 1 of 14.
00:43 jcamins Okay, so it has at least some of the libraries.
00:44 drojf informationstudies: you could try to get some download statistics too. of course that does not say anything. rangi would probably know some numbers
00:44 informationstudies here in Saudi i think one of the university in Riyadh  used Koha .   but others used horizon like in my university ,
00:45 jcamins There are also Millennium and Voyager libraries in Saudi, and probably a lot of other ILSes in use, too. :)
00:46 jcamins Koha's the best, though, of course. :)
00:46 informationstudies i must download some statistics , try to find the right number  <<< i hope to find it *_*
00:46 drojf there is no right number
00:47 jcamins informationstudies: drojf meant that there are statistics on the number of people who have downloaded Koha in the last month.
00:47 drojf but while you're at it, download a copy of koha for yourself. it's free and nice, try it out yourself :)
00:47 jcamins Yes, definitely do that.
00:48 drojf uh, it's getting 2am-ish already. good night #koha
00:48 jcamins Good night.
00:49 informationstudies i'll try it insha allah  , Thank you so much for  helping me ,

14:43 oleonard there's a potential wrinkle with 7067 that I'd like to discuss jcamins when you have time
14:44 jcamins oleonard: is it the lack of unit tests?
14:44 oleonard No :)
14:45 jcamins Oh, well, I caught that one.
14:45 jcamins I have some time now if you'd like to discuss it now. :)
14:45 oleonard It's the conflict between the need for self-registrations that notices be sent very frequently, versus the need of "digest" type messages to have time to accumulate
14:46 oleonard If we want people's self-registration details to go out right away (what a user would expect), the message queue has to be processed every minute or so
14:46 oleonard But that means that "digest" messages have no time to accumulate before being sent
14:46 jcamins Hm.
14:51 kf oleonard: could we have a process_message_queue job that is more selective?
14:51 kf like cron themwith different delays
14:52 oleonard That seems like it might work
14:53 lavamind joined #koha
14:57 oleonard So one question is whether such a change to process_message_queue blocks 7067, or whether 7067 could be pushed with warnings to the user
14:57 jcamins oleonard: I think the latter, if 7067 passes QA.
14:58 maximep joined #koha
14:59 kf oleonard: I think maybe have a big note - and tell people that it#s a new feature they can use, but there is one caveat?
15:00 kf I see no harm done adding it - it will cause no regression and people can decide if it's a blocker for them or not

19:06 martian523 o, so it's just a temporary fix?
19:06 rangi There is a bug in autocreate

19:08 martian523 ok...that will be in the next update i suppose?
19:08 rangi Could you update the bug saying if you turn autocreate authorities off you can work round this
19:08 rangi So others know
19:08 rangi And yes December 22
19:08 rangi Unless I decide it's more urgent
19:08 martian523 ok, but would this work around create new problems?
19:09 rangi It won't autocreate authorities
19:09 cait so you will have to manually create and link them I think
19:10 rangi You probably should be doing that anyway :)
19:11 martian523 o ok
19:11 rangi Autocreate is a hack you kinda lose the value of authorities if you create new ones for every record
19:12 rangi In theory you should get authorities from an authoritative source
19:12 rangi Like library of congress
19:12 rangi And link your bibliographic records to them

20:52 * oleonard grumbles that every TinyMCE plugin has its own language file in it's own directory
20:54 oleonard Wow, making TinyMCE translatable for an arbitrary set of languages is going to be a pain in the butt
20:56 oleonard Perhaps we identify all the plugins Koha uses and build one big language config file for all of them...
20:56 jcamins oleonard: do we use a lot of TinyMCE plugins?
20:57 oleonard I'm not sure, that's what I'm trying to figure out right now
20:57 rangi only in the news isnt it?
20:57 jcamins That's what I thought.
20:58 oleonard We use TinyMCE in news, branches, and in editing help
20:59 oleonard 'plugins : "table,save,advhr,advlink,iespell,searchreplace,print,contextmenu",'
21:00 oleonard Not sure why iespell is in there
21:03 tcohen joined #koha
21:04 cait in branches too
21:04 cait for the new branchnote thing I think
21:04 cait not sure it's the same editor - but we use a graphical one there, and for the help files
21:05 jcamins cait: yup, that's where oleonard found it. :)
21:05 oleonard I wonder if anyone ever uses the "save" button?
21:05 jcamins oleonard: is there a more-translatable jQuery plugin we should be switching to instead?
21:05 cait lol sorry, totally overread this
21:06 cait but hey, do I get full points now for answering the question? :)
21:06 jcamins lol
21:06 jcamins Of course.
21:06 cait yay :)

21:10 cait hi wizzyrea :)
21:10 jcamins Hello.
21:11 jcamins I settled on "Table crepes," with the recipe for making it from scratch labelled "For another roll."
21:12 * jcamins cracks himself up sometimes.
21:15 chris_n jcamins is on a roll today
21:15 * chris_n heads home
21:15 rangi heh
21:16 oleonard Hm, it's not clear that one /can/ load custom translations to TinyMCE from a config file...
21:19 jcamins oleonard: would something like jWYSIWYG be better?
21:20 oleonard Don't know, but that did look interesting.
21:21 * oleonard has to leave, more wysiwygging tomorrow I guess
21:21 jcamins oleonard: oh, that reminds me. I have a bug to report on the floating save button in the syspref editor.
21:21 jcamins You're welcome. :)
21:22 * oleonard escapes
21:22 wizzyrea ahh! floating save button in the syspref editor
21:23 * wizzyrea sends oleonard lots of chocolate to get that working
21:23 wizzyrea it's the little things :P

21:26 cait morning eythian
21:26 eythian it is rather
21:29 jcamins libsysguy: changing the cataloging module's Javascript from custom disaster to jQuery required only a small patch?!?
21:30 libsysguy hehe
21:30 libsysguy well somebody already integrated jquery
21:30 * libsysguy tips his hat to oleonard
21:30 libsysguy and somebody removed a whole crapton of js from that file
21:30 libsysguy idk where it went
21:30 libsysguy but I was cursing having to rebase my patch
21:31 jcamins It's in a separate JS file so that the authority editor and bibliographic editor don't diverge again.
21:31 libsysguy well that makes sense
21:33 libsysguy I would have left it at large but I didn't want anyone to think I was compensating for something
21:33 jcamins lol

22:41 jcamins @later tell talljoy There was another bug to do with spaces in register types in the DOM configuration file. Search for ": [nwp]" in biblio-zebra-indexdefs.xsl and remove the space if you find it. The fix was post 3.8.4.
22:41 huginn jcamins: The operation succeeded.

23:47 drojf so the ccsr theme is only available for english?
23:48 jcamins drojf: apparently fredericd did not put the PO files on translate.koha-community.org?
23:48 * francharb waves #koha good bye
23:53 drojf i think there are more problems with non-english languages. i also get "NetworkError: 404 Not Found - http://192.168.56.12/opac-tmpl[…]g/images/list.gif", same for cart.gif. happens with the german version, not the english one
23:56 jcamins drojf: I think you need to update your translations.
23:56 jcamins I thought there had been a patch in which those images were eliminated.
23:58 jcamins Yes, those files don't exist.
23:58 drojf yes they should be taken from a sprite
23:59 drojf looks like i really did not update the translation files then
