14:05 druthb1 hi, libsysguy!
14:06 libsysguy hey druthb1
14:06 libsysguy ITS MIGRATION DAY!!!
14:13 druthb1 wahoo!
14:13 libsysguy did you get that script i emailed you?
14:13 druthb1 One less SD library, one more Koha....the world will be a better place tomorrow, by just a taste, for your work today.  :)
14:14 druthb1 I did.  I'm tidying up a few things, and fancying up a few.  I'd like to submit it to community, if you don't mind.
14:14 libsysguy I was hoping you would.  I have been so busy I haven't had a chance to clean it up
14:14 libsysguy but if you area already doing it kudos :)
14:15 druthb1 you bet.  I need it rather urgently, for a couple of my big projects.
14:15 libsysguy understandable
14:16 libsysguy ugh...speaking of migrating patrons...that is my next big task :'(
14:16 libsysguy are you going to be around for a bit incase i get confused on your scripts?
14:17 druthb1 In and out.  my daughter and I are leaving shortly for a bus tour of the amish country.
14:17 libsysguy ohh ok...more Amish cookies?
14:17 druthb1 :)
14:17 libsysguy say hi to Lindsey for me :)
14:17 druthb1 will.  :)
14:21 libsysguy so for bill holds patrons etc
14:21 libsysguy what order do i run the scripts in?
14:21 libsysguy that is probably the most confusing part for me :'(
14:36 druthb1 bibs/items, patrons, issues, bills, holds.  That's the order I do it.
14:40 libsysguy cool...then i shall do it in that order :)
14:40 libsysguy just because I want to be as cool as druthb1
14:52 druthb1 bah
14:52 libsysguy what happened?
15:00 druthb1 you're already way cooler than druthb1.
15:00 jcamins_away Does anyone here know the protocol for telling the manager of a hotel that one particular employee is extraordinarily professional and pleasant, and ought to be promoted?
15:01 druthb1 Just go tell them.
15:01 druthb1 (I do that.)
15:01 druthb1 hi, jcamins_away! :)
15:01 libsysguy ^^
15:01 jcamins_away Okay, that's how I was going to do it, but I wasn't sure if there's a proper way to do it.
15:02 * druthb1 finishes up a looooong new blog post:  http://www.librarygeekgirl.net[…]/08/thanks-jenny/
15:07 jcamins_away druthb++
15:09 druthb1 thanx, jcamins_away.  Jenny's op-ed is fantastic from end to end, and I *love* seeing a transwoman end up published there...and that got me stirred up
15:11 jcamins_away Maybe I should go into STM publishing.
15:11 druthb1 STM?
15:12 jcamins_away Science, Technology, and Medicine.
15:12 jcamins_away AKA, those fields where LaTeX is more likely to be used.
15:12 druthb1 Oh!.  I'd heard STEM (add Engineeering), but not the shorter form
15:13 jcamins_away Ah, I probably meant STEM.
15:13 jcamins_away :)
15:13 druthb1 :)
15:14 jcamins_away But seriously, LaTeX is so much nicer for publishing.

20:16 libsysguy hey if i exported all of my ebooks and modified the marc
20:17 libsysguy how can i re-import them and change all the records
20:18 cait cou can match and overlay
20:18 cait but you need something to match on
20:18 libsysguy im assuming the isbn would work
20:19 libsysguy how do you do that with the shell
20:19 cait not sure
20:19 cait you can use the tool > stagd marc import
20:19 libsysguy because half our collection is ebooks so its too big for the web interface
20:19 cait I think it's possible - actually we do it
20:20 cait but I am not sure how, my coworker does it
20:20 libsysguy haha
20:20 cait :)
20:20 libsysguy hmm...i don't want to break it
20:20 cait our nightly imports use the matching rules and staged tools on command line
20:20 libsysguy hmm ok
20:25 cait left #koha
20:26 jcamins_away libsysguy: I would not rely on ISBN.
20:26 jcamins_away Create a matching rule on biblionumber.
20:27 jcamins_away libsysguy: you have a background in CS, don't you?
20:27 jcamins_away (as opposed to libraries)
20:29 jcamins_away Someone (I don't remember who) posited that people with CS backgrounds expect ISBNs to be unique and consistent. :)
20:40 libsysguy yes i do
20:40 libsysguy and yes i do expect that
20:40 libsysguy way to let me down
20:41 jcamins_away I guess the theory has some evidence to support it. :)
20:41 libsysguy exactly
20:41 libsysguy as a CS major i expect unique keys to be UNIQUE!!!
20:41 libsysguy instead i get pseudo-unique
20:41 jcamins_away Fortunately, it's easy to create a biblionumber matching rule.
20:42 libsysguy do i have to do it through staging?
20:42 jcamins_away You create the rule in the administration module.
20:42 jcamins_away Then you import the records using the stage and commit marc_biblios scripts.
20:43 libsysguy ok cool
20:44 Guillaume joined #koha
20:49 libsysguy hey jcamins_away...how do i set up that matching rule
20:49 libsysguy is it in mapping?
20:49 jcamins_away No. It's in Matching Rules.
20:50 jcamins_away Last option under "Cataloging"?
20:50 jcamins_away Or whatever the first section on the right is called.
20:50 libsysguy ohh i see it
20:50 libsysguy i don't get into this side of koha too often
20:51 jcamins_away Want to know how you can tell I see it too often?
20:51 jcamins_away I don't actually have access to Koha right now, and I know exactly where the link is.
20:51 libsysguy haha my thoughts exactly
20:51 libsysguy but i found it
20:52 jcamins_away Okay, now comes the tricky part.
20:52 libsysguy ok
20:52 jcamins_away You need the name of the biblionumber index.
20:52 libsysguy *serious face one*
20:52 jcamins_away For reasons I couldn't possibly speculate on, it's not "Biblionumber."
20:52 jcamins_away It's something like Record-identifier.
20:53 jcamins_away You'll need to locate that by looking in the file in etc/zebradb/marc_defs/marc21/biblios/record.abs.
20:53 jcamins_away You want the index that's listed after 999$c
20:54 jcamins_away Okay, so that wasn't actually that tricky. It's hard for me to do, not having access to a Koha instance.
20:54 libsysguy melm 999$d      biblioitemnumber:n,biblioitemnumber:w,biblioitemnumber:s
20:54 libsysguy or melm 999$c      Local-Number:n,Local-Number:w,Local-Number:s
20:54 jcamins_away Local-Number
20:54 libsysguy gotcha
20:55 libsysguy what should i set the match threshold to? 0?
20:55 jcamins_away So that's the index. The field is going to be 999 and the subfield is going to be c.
20:55 jcamins_away Match threshold should be 999.
20:55 jcamins_away The match value (forgotten the exact label) should be 1000.
20:55 jcamins_away Offset and length should be zero.
20:56 jcamins_away Did I miss any boxes?
20:56 jcamins_away Don't worry about checkpoints.
20:56 Guillaume left #koha
20:57 libsysguy hmm so so for matching rule code
20:57 jcamins_away I generally use 999c and for description biblionumber.
20:57 jcamins_away But that's for you.
20:57 libsysguy right
20:57 libsysguy well im going with what you have
20:58 libsysguy normalization rule
20:58 libsysguy ?
20:58 jcamins_away Leave it blank.
20:58 libsysguy search index and score?
20:58 libsysguy was that 1000?
20:59 jcamins_away Search index is Local-Number.
20:59 jcamins_away score is 1000.
20:59 wahanui is 1000. has neutral karma
21:00 libsysguy ok i think that is it
21:00 libsysguy (please god
21:00 libsysguy )
21:00 libsysguy ok so now i go to the staging script?
21:01 jcamins_away Yep.
21:01 jcamins_away I don't remember the command line usage, but there's POD.
21:01 libsysguy yeah i can look at it
21:04 Johnindy_ left #koha
21:04 libsysguy so after i have staged them...do i run bulk marc import?
21:05 jcamins_away No, then you run the commit script.
21:05 libsysguy ahh ok
21:05 jcamins_away It's something like stage_marc_biblios and commit_marc_biblios.
21:05 jcamins_away It's in misc.
21:05 jcamins_away You'll find 'em.
21:05 libsysguy yeah i see them
21:05 libsysguy i just didn't know what i was looking for lol
21:09 libsysguy working  jcamins_away++
21:10 jcamins_away Yay! Glad to hear it.

21:45 libsysguy tethering?
21:45 jcamins_away Oh, I've been tethered all along.
21:45 jcamins_away The problem is the tethering doesn't work with https.
21:45 libsysguy and you can't send email
21:45 libsysguy ohhh
21:45 libsysguy you are using the free one
21:46 jcamins_away Yup.
21:47 rangi its probably just doing it port based
21:47 rangi rather than actually blocking
21:47 rangi i have an ssh server that listens on port 80 for that reason
21:47 * jcamins_away skins the cat.
21:47 libsysguy Kitty!!! noo!!
21:48 jcamins_away Set up a mail client, don't enter the password for IMAP.

21:49 jcamins_away libsysguy: using TLS.
21:50 libsysguy oh
21:50 libsysguy well then you sir are excused
21:57 jcamins_away Woohoo! It worked!
21:58 jcamins_away rangi: I'd need to set up an actual proxy and not just port forwarding, if I wanted to use HTTPS. This was easier. :)
21:59 rangi :)
22:00 libsysguy hey jcamins_away the staging script said it only matched 5344 bibs but processed 251198
22:00 jcamins_away If I didn't need to attach things, of course, I would've just sent the message using telnet. :)
22:00 libsysguy something seems odd there
22:00 jcamins_away libsysguy: that's not good.
22:00 jcamins_away libsysguy: go into the management interface.
22:00 libsysguy there
22:01 jcamins_away The manage staged marc batches interface, I mean.
22:01 jcamins_away Take a look at that batch.
22:01 jcamins_away What matching rule does it say you're using.
22:01 jcamins_away s/\./?/
22:02 libsysguy ugh

22:03 jcamins_away Okay.
22:03 jcamins_away Just checking you knew that. :)
22:03 * libsysguy is lazy
22:03 jcamins_away rangi: why does wahanui die every time I say change it to something?
22:05 jcamins_away "change it to something", that is.

22:16 libsysguy well i ran a top
22:16 libsysguy and it looked like it was done
22:17 libsysguy so i licked back into it and the matching rule wasn't set correctly
22:17 libsysguy so i assumed it failed
22:17 jcamins_away Oh. Hm.
22:17 jcamins_away Wait.
22:17 jcamins_away rangi: is this what happened with the bug you just patched?

22:58 jcamins_away We're at a conference.
22:59 jcamins_away We were supposed to go today, but they scheduled 45 minutes for lunch... not really enough time to go to a famous pizza place.
23:00 jcamins_away (that is, there was a lunch organized by the graduate student subcommittee)
23:00 jcamins_away Since the only reason I didn't get lunch there on my own earlier was because Shari was going to the scheduled lunch, she said we'd go tomorrow.

23:05 Agent_Dani And my sympathies. My wife and I schedule lunch or dinner together during the week because that's the only way we get to see each other - she works 4-midnight Sun-Thurs while I work 7-3 M-F.
23:05 jcamins_away Yikes!
23:05 jcamins_away That's awful!
23:06 Agent_Dani Yeah, not the best, that's for sure.
23:06 Agent_Dani I tried to get a later schedule; got a 9:30 start time approved but it proved to not be worth it in two ways.
23:07 rangi @wunder wellington nz
23:07 huginn rangi: The current temperature in Wellington, New Zealand is 8.0C (10:00 AM NZST on August 14, 2011). Conditions: Mostly Cloudy. Humidity: 81%. Dew Point: 5.0C. Windchill: 4.0C. Pressure: 29.59 in 1002 hPa (Steady).
23:08 Agent_Dani a) not much of an overlap so it really didn't help. b) Even though I was working 50+ hour weeks my manager's perception was that I was working far fewer hours, under the 40 minimum, and I was getting negative job performance marks as a result.
23:08 druthb hi, rangi!
23:09 jcamins_away Ah. Yuck. I hope the opposite schedules are temporary.
23:09 jcamins_away Or at least have an eventual end in sight.
23:09 Agent_Dani jcamins_away: Thanks. We do as well. It's been a bit over a year now, and she doesn't want to change employers so that makes things a little more difficult.
23:09 rangi hi druthb :)
23:12 libsysguy man....when im staging im getting a lot of this: Use of uninitialized value $string in substr at /home/koha/kohaclone/C4/Matcher.pm line 731.
23:13 rangi yep harmless warns but we should quiet them
23:13 libsysguy so people like me don't panic lol
23:14 * druthb inserts a line into her scripts in odd places:     warn "This is just here to make libsysguy freak out.  Everyone else may relax."
23:14 libsysguy hehe
23:15 Agent_Dani hehe
23:20 jcamins_away Yikes!
23:20 jcamins_away Don't try to change the case of Russian text in LibreOffice.
23:21 * druthb can't imagine when she'd be typing Russian text...
