06:41 reiveune hello
06:54 alex_a Bonjour
08:31 ashimema Good morning #koha
08:56 nlegrand salut
08:56 wahanui kia ora, nlegrand
08:56 nlegrand bonjour wahanui
08:56 wahanui hey, nlegrand
09:19 nlegrand Ok, so if Bug 25951 is a good idea and if it's a performance improvement, I'm ready to work on similar cases.
09:19 huginn       Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=25951 enhancement, P5 - low, ---, koha-bugs, Needs Signoff , Koha::Objects using the DBIx::Class relationships in Koha::Hold and Koha::Item
09:20 nlegrand It seems with the test I have a few tens of seconds less with the prefetch way.
09:20 Joubu Hi nlegrand
09:20 nlegrand Hey Joubu!
09:20 Joubu I would not create a separate test file
09:20 Joubu RelatedObjects.t code can be moved to a subtest of Koha/Items.t
09:21 nlegrand Ok, I'll do that! (but later as I soon have to play hide and seek...)
09:21 Joubu On your way, you could create a Koha::Hold->library and ->patron
09:21 Joubu        ->branch and ->borrower will call ->library and ->patron
09:22 Joubu branch and borrower could be marked as deprecated
09:24 Joubu nlegrand: I am gonna let you a comment
09:25 nlegrand thanks!

14:44 bigbrovar Hi guys. I am currently trying to recover a server which hard drive crashed. Luckily I was able to recover the files at /var/spool/koha intact. If I want to restore the file to a new instance of KOHA. How can I go about it. The koha instance before the crash was installed 5 years ago and I doubt if it was ever updated or maintained. Please what would you suggest as the best approach to restoring to a new instance.

15:00 Joubu bigbrovar: Did you find a recent backup there?
15:12 bigbrovar Joubu: yes I did, I found some *.sql and some *.tar.gz files dated December 2019 or there about
15:14 bigbrovar So what I want to do is setup a koha instance on virtual box and see if I can restore the files and have a working system some worth... But I don't even know how to go about this and if restoring dB from a 5 year old version of KOHA would break things if restored to the latest stable version
15:25 koha-jenkins Project Koha_Master_D10_Deps build #28: UNSTABLE in 52 min: https://jenkins.koha-community.org/job/Koha_Master_D10_Deps/28/
15:25 Joubu bigbrovar: it won't break. You can install a new fresh Koha instance on a new server, then restore the dump (command koha-restore), and execute the update DB process
15:26 bigbrovar Joubu: will do that thanks
15:48 bigbrovar By the way is there an arm port of KOHA? I live in Nigeria I have been working on replacing traditional servers with low power low cost computing devices (like the Pi 4, Odroids and Rockpro64 single board computers) it would really help lower cost of ownership and make it possible to run a data center of a small offgrid Solar setup with zero need for air conditioning.

21:26 bigbrovar Hi guys. I am trying to recover drives from a koha server that crashed. Fortunately the files in /var/spool/koha seem to be fine and we're recovered. I am currently trying to restore them to a new instance of KOHA. I can't seem to find documentation on how best to approach this.
21:26 bigbrovar I tried to do koha-restore sqldump configdump but that gave an error
21:26 hayley what error did you get bigbrovar?
21:28 bigbrovar No such file or directory which then lead to other errors. I am on my phone now so I can't copy. Let me trying get it to pastebin on the computer
21:30 bigbrovar hayley: https://pastebin.ubuntu.com/p/nDWqTxmHwq/
21:30 mtj hey #koha
21:30 hayley hey mtj
21:31 hayley bigbrovar are you running that in the directory that has those two files? I haven't used koha-restore before
21:31 mtj bigbrovar: i think there are problems with your koha-restore method
21:31 bigbrovar I felt running restore on a fresh instance of KOHA won't work. I tried to move the recovered files and directory to /var/spool/koha before running koha-restore but that also didn't work.
21:31 mtj hay hayley
21:32 bigbrovar mtj: i feel so too just don't know what the right way is
21:32 bigbrovar Haven't been able to find anything online.
21:32 hayley bigbrovar to get the db back in I would normally run sudo koha-mysql instance < file.sql
21:32 hayley where file.sql is your db dump unzipped
21:32 bigbrovar Cool
21:33 hayley not sure about the configs though
21:33 mtj bigbrovar: koha-restore assumes that you are restoring to a system with the *same* koha version as the koha backup
21:33 bigbrovar hayley: in the case of a fresh install. Do I create the instance first or running koha-myswl instance does that
21:34 hayley bigbrovar you'd need to create the instance and its db first
21:34 bigbrovar mtj: oh wow.. And this is so far from being the case. Infact the system was installed and last updated 5 years ago. The new instance is the latest koha stable.
21:35 mtj bigbrovar: hayley has the best advice ^
21:36 mtj bigbrovar:... its a bit like applying a windows 7 backup.. to windows 10 :)
21:39 bigbrovar mtj: it won't work right? I was told earlier today that it is fine as long as I run dB updates.
21:40 bigbrovar Given my situation.. Is it better to install the dated version of KOHA (5 years ago) and work my way up from there
21:44 mtj bigbrovar: follow hayley's advice
21:45 mtj create a new koha instance and load the old sql file into the database
21:46 bigbrovar OK running koha-mysql went well.
21:46 bigbrovar Well no errors
21:48 mtj $ sudo koha-upgrade-schema mykoha1
21:49 mtj ..that updates the db ^
21:50 mtj or you can do it via the web-installer too
21:51 bigbrovar mtj: doing that now. Thanks
21:51 mtj command-line is a bit more reliable for looooong updates :0)
21:52 bigbrovar Yeah. It is done.
21:53 mtj congrats
21:54 mtj $ sudo koha-rebuild-zebra -f mykoha1
21:54 mtj ...rebuilds zebra db ^
21:55 bigbrovar Running now
21:56 bigbrovar CPU is burning..
21:56 bigbrovar Done
21:57 bigbrovar mtj: thanks alot.
21:57 bigbrovar mtj: can the config backup also been restored
22:00 mtj bigbrovar: hmm, you'll have to manually restore the koha-conf.xml file
22:01 bigbrovar OK. I can extract and copy and replace?
22:01 bigbrovar The config file is a tar.gz
22:01 mtj compare the old/new files and add the important parts that are missing
22:01 mtj yeah, extract config.tgz
22:02 bigbrovar Okk..
22:02 bigbrovar Would find to find a comandline fu that allows me to compare and add missing parts
22:03 mtj i find the best way is just a text editor and eyes
22:04 bigbrovar Lol
22:05 bigbrovar Just extracted the config and most of the stuff there can really be done without. It seems to pack everything about the previous install including error logs and bash history
22:06 mtj yeah, its really just the koha-conf.xml file and apache files that are tricky for a restore
22:07 bigbrovar How important is the koha-conf.xml
22:08 bigbrovar Just loaded the server now and it runs file
22:08 bigbrovar Opac loads fine
22:09 mtj hmm, sometimes important authentication info is added the koha-conf file, like ldap
22:10 bigbrovar No ldap authentication here. That I am sure.
22:10 bigbrovar I will go through it just to be sure
22:11 bigbrovar I will run a vimdiff between the backup and current file and see if any fancy thing comes up
22:11 mtj yep, good idea
22:13 mtj "How important is the koha-conf.xml"... its the main config file
22:14 mtj so... very important :)
23:55 tuxayo Anyone are with admin rights on the translation platform? I need to mark 5 strings (x3 versions) as "needworks"
23:56 tuxayo And only an admin on the language or the whole translation platform can do that
23:56 tuxayo The languages are Arabic, Polish, Urdu and Welsh.
23:56 tuxayo Even better would be to have speakers here to fix the translations directly.
