22:48 MWR I plan on staying on LTS versions... so the next updated LTS of Ubuntu isn't scheduled until April 2020.
22:47 MWR Okay, I've done my development/testing install of Koha on a Debian 9 machine... Everything looks good. I think I'm going to deploy our production Koha onto Ubuntu for the ease of future distribution updates... Koha Documentation states that it works on Ubuntu 16.04 (Xenial)... Can anyone here tell me if it works well on 18.04 LTS?

16:23 ashimema rangi and I were talking about ways to slim down our repo somewhat and we're going to tackle some of it at kohacon.. not sure how it will effect gitlab yet though as first goal is to prevent it growing at such a rate.

13:39 dolf OK, the indexer-err.log shows that the problems started on the 13th, which corresponds to what I'm seeing. Stuff like this:
13:37 dolf snap
13:37 tcohen yeah
13:37 dolf ok, does the indexer have a log?
13:37 tcohen look at the *indexer logs
13:36 tcohen those are zebra server logs, not related to the indexing steps, but searches
13:36 tcohen those are ok
13:36 dolf I have a lot of these in my /var/log/koha/rsc/zebra-output.log: "zebrasrv(49) [warn] ir_session (exception)"
13:36 tcohen maybe the lock was left because of a breakage, yes
13:35 tcohen that script sets locks to avoid race conditions
13:35 dolf Maybe it just crashed at some point. It's running fine again now.
13:35 tcohen the koha-indexer and koha-rebuild-zebra scripts call (internally) a perl script called rebuild_zebra.pl
13:34 dolf in /etc/default/koha-common: USE_INDEXER_DAEMON="yes"
13:33 dolf "apt search koha" => "koha-common/stable,now 18.11.05-1 all [installed]"
13:33 tcohen sorry, /etc/default/koha-common
13:33 tcohen in /etc/defaults/koha
13:32 tcohen maybe you carry old files
13:32 tcohen when we introducer the 'indexer' it was disabled by default
13:32 tcohen ah
13:32 dolf latest. let met check the number...
13:32 tcohen what Koha version is it?
13:31 dolf I thought the koha-indexer was part of the koha-common service.
13:30 dolf tcohen: magic! It works. But now I'm still baffled about why it stopped in the first place.
13:28 tcohen koha-indexer —start instance
13:28 tcohen what about
13:27 dolf "systemctl status koha-common" says "active (running)"
13:26 dolf "SELECT count(*) FROM `zebraqueue` where done=0 " gives me 20 items. After running koha-rebuild-zebra, it's exactly the same.
13:24 tcohen dolf: koha-rebuild-zebra instance will only make incremental updates, i.e. those marked as done=0 in the zebraqueue table
13:22 dolf cait: lemme check!
13:22 cait and tcohen probably knows the indexer commands ;)
13:22 cait (not indexed)
13:21 cait one thing to check is look into the zebraqueue table - there should be no or almost no entries with done = 0
13:21 tcohen ok
13:21 cait dolf: you want to chck that your indexer is running

13:14 dolf correction: "new books" (since the last time I rebuilt zebra) are not showing up in search
13:14 dolf Quick question: I'm running "koha-rebuild-zebra instance", but books are not showing up in search. If I run "koha-rebuild-zebra -f instance", they do show up (but it takes a lot longer, obviously). Any ideas why this might happen? It's been working fine for years, and I'm not sure what changed.

08:33 * ashimema jumps into meetings
08:32 ashimema I reckon it's one kidclamp will want before release
08:32 huginn` Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=22877 major, P5 - low, ---, martin.renvoize, Signed Off , Returning a lost item not marked as returned can generate additional overdue fines
08:32 ashimema any QA people want to grab bug 22877
08:17 Frank_P but I do understand you =) could just be my connection here
08:17 Frank_P once im in terminal, the network does seem to work though. just cant resolve the corrupt files
08:17 ashimema hmm
08:16 ashimema even with the full massive file used for installing debian.. without proper networking setup then Koha itself won't be able to install as it won't be able to grab the packages from our repositories
08:16 Frank_P i think its network issues only during installation though. im hoping that the bigger the version the more files will be successfully installed
08:16 ashimema it does sound like you're still having basic networking issues
08:15 ashimema I'd hold off on that
08:15 Frank_P ashimema: im now download a 3.4GB "debian-9.9.0-amd64" iso... I hadnt even seen this one yet? Howcome debian 9.9.0 has a 200mb file, a 600mb file, a 2.2gb file, and a 3.4gb file. PS - ive tried the first 3 files. perhaps the last one will work for me
08:14 ashimema very odd
08:14 wahanui well, sounds like it is something i need to at least store in a safe place in the even i want to install koha on a different pi
08:14 ashimema sounds like it.
08:13 indradg_ anyone here using kohadevbox on windows?
08:12 Frank_P i guess the installation completely failed then
08:12 Frank_P nope. No such file or directory
08:11 ashimema `ls /etc/koha`
08:11 ashimema does /etc/koha exist at all?
08:10 ashimema nano is a good choice
08:10 ashimema hmm,  /etc/koha/koha-sites.conf should be there
08:06 Frank_P I would love to be a tester for all future versions of koha. Happy to write out guides and make installation videos. And will inform real developers of changes comparing to previous installation versions =)
08:05 Frank_P ashimema: I am in root, using nano =) /etc/koha/koha-sites.conf. I have not installed any other text editor. but nano has been working perfectly
08:04 Frank_P I think because of my non-LAN internet connection (perhaps my service provider configuration) - I could not properly connect to the mirrors/repositories. So i think some critical files are corrupt or not installed. So my entire OS installation is compromised. This weekend I will run everything again off my home network which will be LAN
08:02 Frank_P ashimema: thank you - but remember I was getting continuous Hash Sum mismatch errors. whenever running apt-get update/ apt-get upgrade/ even when using apt-get install koha-common
07:57 * ashimema thinks our documentation is too fragmented on the wiki :(
07:57 ashimema let me take a quick read to check everything is up to date and correct and I'll get back to you
07:56 ashimema that wiki page is 3 years old and only written by one person
07:56 ashimema ooh..
07:56 ashimema is the file simply not there?
07:56 ashimema what user were you editing the file as.. it usually has root permissions I believe
07:55 * ashimema feels tired this morning
07:54 Frank_P ashimema: morning =)
07:54 ashimema mornin' #koha
07:53 Frank_P Trying to set up my DNS through: https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/How_to_set_up_a_domain_name_for_Koha, I can across an issue. When saving /etc/koha/koha-sites.conf - I get [Error writing: No such file or directory] Does this mean that the koha installation I ran was unsuccessful? I am thinking it is a network issue because I am connected via a wifi router and not a standard LAN port
07:49 Frank_P Good morning everyone =)
06:58 alex_a bonjour
