00:36 huginn` 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=15434 normal, P5 - low, ---, srdjan, Patch doesn't apply , Make search results breadcrumbs human readable

00:45 dcook This is random but does anyone have a good way of comparing hexadecimal numbers in Perl?
00:45 dcook String equality doesn't seem like a great idea since 0F10 and F10 are the same number but not when stringified..
00:45 rangi gandalf: http://paste.koha-community.org/259
00:52 dcook I guess it's not really a hexadecimal value... it's actually a string representation..

05:03 dcook I keep thinking the Record Matching Rules must have either been different in the past or were envisioned differently...
05:22 dcook Hmm, I've been meaning to test some of the item matching stuff... no time like the present..
05:33 dcook Ok, so even when you're using the phrase register, yaz-client will still show the "w" register when using zebra::snippet... but it IS actually using the "p" register
05:33 dcook That's good..
05:34 dcook Ah, the 952 fields aren't usable for record matching.. makes sense

09:56 andreashm ok community, a question for you. I've always thought that someone sponsoring a patch should not sign off on it, but have now been told otherwise by members of the community. (that only persons from the same company/institution should sign off) thoughts on this?
09:57 LibraryClaire I was going to ask the same question
09:57 cait hm i think the second part i'd disagree with
09:58 cait if a patch is submitted - someone from outside the company/instutiion signing off is totally fine by me :)
09:58 cait strictly speaking it's allowed
09:58 cait but i think it's usually nicer if you get an independent tester too
09:58 andreashm ah, I wrote that wrong... I meant that perons from the same company/inst should NOT sign off
09:58 andreashm but ok with sponsored patches?
09:59 cait it's kind of a grey area, but it's possible
09:59 andreashm that will make our lives easier if we can sign-off on the things we sponsor... since we test them anyway.
09:59 drojf its grey? i thought its no
09:59 andreashm drojf: that what I thought too. But heard otherwise from a few ppl by now.
10:00 andreashm that's
10:00 cait let me see if i can find some docs
10:02 cait http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Development_workflow
10:03 cait Patch signer should not be patch writer. Preferably, patch writer and patch signer should not be from the same company or institution.
10:03 andreashm cait: just read that.
10:03 andreashm I interpret that as a sponsor can be patch signer, but not someone from company/institution
10:04 cait there is mor info in one of the meeting logs... but have no time to dig that up now
10:05 davidnind See also item 8 - http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Guidelines_for_Patch_Acceptance/Rejection
10:06 cait hm i think that's a bit older - should be cleaned up a bit (version numbes...) :)
10:11 cait            davidnind++
10:11 cait i think we probably should review all our 'worflow' pages on the wiki sometime
10:12 andreashm might be a good idea
10:13 davidnind will take a look over the next few days, may end up asking some questions to clarify, especially as I'm not a developer...
10:14 davidnind should also probably add as a 'bug' to Bugzilla
10:16 davidnind also, I thought the general rule was that if you developed a patch, then someone from the same organisation/company could not sign-off on it
10:17 andreashm davidnind: yes. but the question here is if something sponsored (developed by another company/institution) can be signed off
10:17 LibraryClaire I was curious about ones where it specifically states that we have sponsored it, but the developer is not from the same institution
10:18 andreashm libraryclaire: yeah, not all of our sponsored patches mentioned that they've been sponsored.
10:19 andreashm as long as this is clear in the notes it should be ok? the qa can ask for a second sign-off if they think it is needed?
10:22 davidnind I don't think that nuance is covered in the links so far, although I'm sure it has probably been discussed before (will do some research in the IRC logs)
10:22 andreashm davidnind: cait had some more info on this, you can check with her also
10:23 drojf in general, if you got patches waiting it would be awesome to sign off on others. then signoffers have more time for the others
10:24 drojf (or yours)
10:24 davidnind I also think that overriding rationale from the community's perspective is that a sponsoring organisation is not signing-off patches (whether developed by them or not) without 'proper' testing and review
10:24 LibraryClaire that was my assumption
10:28 andreashm of course patches would need to be tested and reviewed, no matter who signs off
10:29 cait davidnind: i think a meeting around the time of the kohacon in argentina covered some of that question
10:30 andreashm drojf: that's probably the best rationale, from a community standpoint.
10:37 davidnind will have look when I'm a bit fresher tomorrow - think I need to learn how to improve my searching skills!
10:39 cait me too )
10:40 cait it's not so easy to find something in lengthy discussions
10:41 davidnind it's like looking for a needle in a haystack (not that I've ever tried though)
10:51 cait lunch - bbiab

11:59 cait the "writing patches" section mostly needs a sign-off now i think, they have been super busy last night
12:04 LibraryClaire so far I'm just failing to get a sandbox set up /headdesk
12:04 cait hm want to share the steps with us? either it suddenly starts working (because we are watching) or we can help :)
12:06 LibraryClaire I filled out the details and gave it a bug number and my email etc. It said the request was sent and it would email me
12:06 LibraryClaire the video by Bywater suggested that sometimes an email doesn't come through so worth refreshing the page to see if your details update as the person last using a setup

12:41 huginn` cait: The operation succeeded.
12:45 oleonard Hi #koha
12:48 LibraryClaire hi oleonard
12:53 oleonard Joubu: I'm looking at 15269 now
12:54 Joubu thanks oleonard!
13:01 cait bug 15269
13:01 huginn` 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=15269 enhancement, P5 - low, ---, jen, Needs Signoff , Layout tweaks for the opac-detail page
13:01 cait :)
13:34 misilot is the minimum grace period only in days?
13:34 cait misilot: yes, i think currently only days
13:34 misilot ok thanks :)
13:39 oleonard Why no grace period in seconds?
13:39 oleonard @quote get 123
13:39 wahanui http://xkcd.com/1172/
13:39 huginn` oleonard: Quote #123: "rangi: #thingsihavelearnt if there is a mad scheme a library somewhere will be doing it ... except madder" (added by wizzyrea at 09:20 PM, March 30, 2011)
13:39 misilot i would be happy with hours :)
13:39 misilot or minutes ... since I would like a 30 minute checkout anyways :)
13:39 oleonard misilot: It does seem like a gap in what should be available given hourly loans are possible
13:45 cait i didn't find the bug i was thinking about, maybe it's worth a retest
13:52 * oleonard wonders why he isn't seeing shelving location in the OPAC
13:57 kidclamp On the details page oleonard?
13:57 oleonard Yes. Testing in master.
13:57 cait hm
13:57 cait i can test on 3.22 - one sec
13:58 cait hm shows for me in 3.22
13:58 kidclamp I see it in master
13:59 * cait wonders if it's possible that the langage {langcode} option for xslt files is broken?
14:00 oleonard weird.
14:06 cait hm no. the file is no longer being translated :( it worked in 3.18... need to find out what happens in the translation script *shudders*
14:15 oleonard A fun prank is to put all the itemtypes into OpacHiddenItems
14:15 cait hm, lots of empty result lists?
14:48 drojf hello again
14:49 cait oleonard++ mailing list this time
14:49 cait I was thinking about a similar answer
14:56 oleonard Every time these discussions come up I'm grateful my library doesn't have crazy-complex circulation rules.
14:56 cait :)
14:56 oleonard I would settle for hold limits working.
14:57 cait in general.... eveything we advertise shoudl work
14:57 drojf           cait++
14:57 drojf will check tonight
15:00 cait drojf: thx! not sure i will get to do 3.20 - this took wy longer than i had expected today
15:00 drojf i will have a look
15:11 drojf 1254 words. that seems a lot
15:12 cait yeah, was about 1300 for 3.22 too
15:12 drojf why? how can there be so much changes?
15:13 cait ok...we have custom xslt stylesheets... and they got translated with the standard procedure so far and are in the same directory as the normal xslt files... but it doesn't seem to work with 3.22 anymore opposed to 3.18 :(
15:13 cait anyone seen this or has an idea?
15:13 cait drojf: the string fixes from mveron is my guess :)
15:13 cait he fixed all the splitted up strings with links etc.
15:13 drojf ah
15:13 Joubu khall, bag: patches on bug 15601 prevent TestBuilder tests failing
15:13 huginn` 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=15601 normal, P5 - low, ---, jonathan.druart, Needs Signoff , TestBuilder tests are failing
15:13 drojf awesome
15:13 drojf just not now :D
15:14 Joubu (only 1 patch actually)
15:14 khall Joubu: I'll qa that asap
15:14 misilot hey I figure I would ask before I go down the road of working on a plugin. Does anyone have a plugin that copies permissions from one user to another?
15:15 Joubu cait: do you have an example?
15:16 cait Joubu: it's a custom xslt file, based on the standard one
15:16 cait we need it in english and german - so far it just got translated with the other files
15:16 cait not it gets copied, butnot translated
15:16 cait so the file in the 'de-DE' directory remains english
15:17 cait my guess is something has changed with the translation scripts... but i have no idea yet
15:18 Joubu What's the path of the xsl file?
15:18 cait it's right with the other xslt files
15:18 cait koha-tmpl/opac-tmpl/bootstrap/de-DE or en/xslt/...
15:21 cait same permissions as the other files... and it does get copied from en with the translation process, but not translated
15:25 Joubu cait: the strings are in po/fr-FR-marc-UNIMARC.po
15:26 Joubu cait: works for me
15:27 cait did you try to translate a copy of the standard xslt?
15:27 Joubu I can detail if needed, but confirm you have translated the strings in de-DE-marc-UNIMARC.po
15:27 Joubu opac: cp UNIMARCslim2OPACDetail.xsl UNIMARCslim2OPACDetail_TEST.xsl
15:27 cait hm
15:27 cait did you run an update to the po files?
15:27 Joubu then modify a string "Main Author" => "Main Author TEST"
15:27 cait i will try that then i guess
15:27 cait i think we didn't in the past - but i might have missed it
15:28 cait no new strings introduced - just some other changes
15:28 cait the custom file remains completely untranslated for me - not only the additions
15:29 cait the standard files work
15:29 Joubu then translate it "Auteur principal TEST", then install
15:30 Joubu and I have the translated string in the *_TEST.xsl file
15:31 cait thx a lot Joubu
15:31 cait maybe i just missed a step in my documentation
15:35 drojf cait: do we say staat, not land in the patrons module?
15:41 cait i think staat - becuase a coworker once convinced me land was not correct
15:46 drojf probably right, but i have never seen that used as an address label
15:52 cait probably right too
15:52 cait can i ask not to change it because that means i don't hve to change all the privacy documentation again? :)
15:56 drojf heh. i did not change it. i saw that it was used more than oncd so i left it
15:56 drojf *once
16:00 reiveune bye
16:05 cait drojf: i think i translated land today... in the prefs... for address format
16:05 cait *sighs* thinking about it
16:06 drojf heh
16:07 drojf "Number of records used in:: %s"
16:07 drojf is there a reason other than a typo to have ::
16:07 cait i filed a bug for that :)
16:07 drojf ?
16:07 drojf ah
16:07 drojf :)
16:07 cait for the academy
16:08 drojf cool
16:08 cait i later thought... we should change translation too
16:08 cait do you have it open by chance?
16:08 cait and the translation is a little weird maybe
16:08 drojf mine is too
16:09 drojf we have two
16:09 drojf Number of records used in: %s Anzahl der Vormerkungen:
16:09 drojf Number of records used in:: %s Anzahl verwendeter Datensätze in: %s
16:09 drojf i did the second just now, i did not see the other
16:09 cait i think it needs to be changed actually
16:09 drojf which one?
16:09 wahanui i heard which one was t?
16:09 cait both :)
16:10 cait it's the number of records that use the authority
16:10 cait i think
16:11 cait [off] https://kopac.bsz-bw.de/cgi-bin/koha/opac-authoritiesdetail.pl?authid=13551719
16:11 drojf so the english one should be changed too? :D
16:11 cait i think maybe
16:12 cait does the file match? or is it on another page
16:12 cait Number of records using this authority: ?
16:12 cait Number of bibliographic records linked?
16:13 cait oleonard++ signing off academy patches :)
16:13 drojf i only see used in/verwendet in
16:13 drojf in your link
16:13 cait yeah, that's 3.20.1 - before
16:14 cait but i think that's the right spot :)
16:14 drojf yes looks like it
16:14 wahanui Can we get some hard data on that?
16:14 drojf i think it makes sense in english
16:15 drojf should i just take "Verwendet in?
16:15 cait hm sounds good
16:15 cait wonder why there are 2 occurrences - there must be another spot
16:35 * oleonard steals an academy bug... sorry academy!
16:43 cait thx oleonard :)
16:58 gaetan_B bye
17:01 LibraryClaire bye
17:16 cait Joubu: found the answer for my xslt behaviour change - we added marc flavour po files since 3.18 - I think I know now how to fix :)
17:17 cait oleonard: thx a lto for that patch!
17:18 Joubu cait: good to hear that
17:19 cait Joubu: the files got picked up in opac/staff po files - where the strings don't exist
17:22 cait all i need to do is to change the file name to start with MARC21 :)
17:22 cait bye all :)
17:23 Joubu same for me, see you tomorrow!
17:30 oleonard Okay, added 4 new academy bugs to make up for the one I stole.
18:36 eythian I suppose it is the job of a programmer to add bugs to software, but you shouldn't do it knowingly.
18:38 liw eythian, so that's what I've always been doing wrong...
18:38 eythian Oh. Well, this is awkward.
18:43 mtompset @seen cait
18:43 huginn` mtompset: cait was last seen in #koha 1 hour, 20 minutes, and 41 seconds ago: <cait> bye all :)
18:46 rangi oh cool, a bunch of the academy patches have passed qa :)
18:46 rangi i wonder if bag is around today?
18:46 pianohacker rangi: out this week, but I can push 'em
18:47 pianohacker rangi: do you have a list?
18:47 cait pianohacker: out all week?
18:47 rangi 2 secs
18:47 cait maybe it would be good to have someone take a look at the evil bugs then
18:47 cait for the stable releases
18:48 pianohacker cait: to my understanding
18:48 pianohacker cait: how do you mean?
18:48 cait there are evil bugs hat should be fixed in stable releases
18:48 cait which are released next week
18:48 rangi and they are in passed qa now cait ?
18:48 cait but need to be pushed to master first
18:48 cait yep

18:52 rangi mtompset: id just notice the window is now bigger, but not huge
18:52 pianohacker cait: unfortunately, I passed QA on bug 15354; you'll have to poke khall
18:52 mtompset I can sign off... no biggie, but the initial problem isn't there.
18:53 rangi it'll be to do with font size etc on the browser
18:53 mtompset Ah... thanks for that idea
18:53 cait that's possible
18:54 cait i thnk it happened in firefox for me - might also be translation making things a bit longer or break differently
18:54 rangi thats possible too
18:54 mtompset THERE IT IS!
18:55 cait sadly we still need to fix authority merge :(

19:56 Francesca looks a bit warmer where you are than last time we spoke
19:57 eythian Marginally
19:57 eythian I have a woolen jacket and a scarf though, that counts for a lot.
19:58 Francesca I can imagine
19:59 aleisha rangi: what's the link to the bugs the koha group is working on?
19:59 eythian The canals haven't frozen though, so I don't think it counts as a proper winter.
20:07 Francesca 1 degree isn't counted as a proper winter?

22:01 barton so, as I am wont to about this time of day .... I have a zebra question ...
22:02 dcook I'm still waking up and unable to avoid things, so I'm keen
22:02 dcook About Zebra that is
22:05 barton we have a library who who is moving from one version of zebra to another. They have some bibs with titles in Chinese. On their old system (which I don't have admin access to), when they search, they can search with the idiograms next to each other. On our system, they must be separated by spaces. I'm not sure what the difference is.

22:17 dcook I'd look at what's happening in yaz-client
22:17 dcook And what sort of searches are being done
22:17 barton I know that in certain contexts, ccl.properties can control how spaces are parsed. I may look at that, but I have a feeling that there's omethign else involved.
22:17 dcook Both in terms of the CCL qualifiers and wwhat version of Zebra
22:17 dcook O_o
22:18 dcook I would doubt that ccl.properties would play any role
22:18 dcook Are the searches being done in Koha or yaz-client?
22:18 dcook Because Koha loves to mess with search queries
22:18 barton heh.
22:18 barton Yeah, just koha so far.
22:19 dcook Yeah, it's a shame you don't have access to their system
22:20 dcook Are they doing wrdl, phrase, or some other search?
22:20 barton I'll dig into it further... it's just that this sounded *really* familiar.
22:20 dcook ICU certainly likes to play with spaces, but yeah we don't do anything with CJK ourselves so no idea :/
22:20 dcook We're mostly English, French, Arabic over here
22:21 barton dcook: right now, I'm mostly looking at screenshots that the partner has given me -- it seems like keyword search -- ie wrdl.
22:21 barton owait -- no, they were doing a title search.
22:24 cait pianohacker: without the circ rules one you can't test the patch on master it seems
22:25 pianohacker cait: without bug 15568 you can't test bug 15354, you're saying

22:25 pianohacker     ;_;
22:25 pianohacker all I got was no rules displaying
22:25 cait yeah for me it exploded - didn#t do that yesterday when i tested it the first time...
22:25 pianohacker can you pastebin?
22:25 cait hm i can try to make it explode again, sec
22:26 barton ^^ see what I mean about cait dong useful things?
22:26 pianohacker making me doubt my sanity is useful but scary
22:27 dcook barton: I recently learned a neat ICU trick. Let me see if I can recall it. It might help you.
22:27 barton          neat_icu_trick++
22:28 cait pianohacker: 15354 is signed off... now working on the explosions
22:28 dcook Well, maybe not a trick, but a tool
22:28 dcook echo 心意更新 | yaz-icu -c etc/zebradb/etc/words-icu.xml
22:28 dcook Your path might be different..
22:29 dcook I should be using the latest words-icu.xml
22:29 dcook It looks like it tokenizes that string into 4 separate tokens which I suspect would be what you want..
22:29 barton huh. interesting. I'll give that a shot.
22:29 cait pianohacker: not exploding now... must be something weird again
22:29 pianohacker you can't see my nope face right now
22:30 pianohacker so just, you know, imagine it
22:30 pianohacker cait: so you think I can push 15568 then 15354 ?
22:31 dcook barton: Using phrases-icu.xml is slightly different... I'll put it in paste
22:31 cait i am a bit ... annoyed... that the perl error won't show up again
22:31 cait if you think the patches are good i think you can, i will keep poking it a bit longer
22:31 * pianohacker tries to channel his inner bag

22:32 dcook Interesting. paste didn't like some of those characters..
22:32 cait i think the worst one was the authorities patch
22:33 pianohacker puuuuuuuuuuuushed
22:33 pianohacker okay, now 15354
22:35 pianohacker cait: ... should I sign off again like I usually do before pushing?
22:35 cait hm good question
22:36 cait i don't have an opinion about that i think :)
22:36 pianohacker cait: I guess the pushing-to-master signoff is just so people know who pushed it
22:36 pianohacker so why not
22:36 cait true

22:42 dcook barton: I think the last thing has to do with a newline not being processed correctly
22:44 barton Yeah, I saw that in the output; that was my guess as well... I think that at this point I need to do a lot more research before I can ask intelligent questions about it.
22:46 dcook Give me SSH access to your server, and I might nut it out :p
22:46 dcook But no don't do that. I have too many other things to do :p
22:46 pianohacker dcook: yeah, that's far too tempting of an offer :)

22:47 barton pianohacker: I won't tell larryb you said that.
22:48 dcook Oh, another useful thing..
22:48 dcook I think I posted about it on the listserv
22:48 dcook If you can increase Zebra's verbosity, you can tail the zebrasrv logs and that may be a huge help
22:49 pianohacker barton: honestly, if it unmucks Zebra, even he might not mind
22:50 dcook Zebrasrv will tell you what queries are coming your way, yaz-icu can tell you how the ICU indexing is working, and... yaz-client can tell you what's been indexed
22:50 dcook That should give you everything you need to know I would think
22:50 dcook format xml, elements zebra::index ftw
22:50 dcook Oh, except with ICU..
22:50 pianohacker amen
22:50 dcook elements index
22:50 pianohacker ?
22:50 pianohacker ugh, zebra
22:50 dcook Oh wait..
22:50 dcook elements index just shows you the XSLT output..
22:50 dcook zebra::index and ICU don't always seem to get along
22:50 dcook Yeah, ugh, zebra
22:51 * barton hides.
22:51 dcook The fact that it works with spaces is encouraging
22:51 dcook It means that you're not that far off
22:54 barton dcook actually I re-read the ticket, and ... um... the problem is a litle different than I first thought -- I'm gettig *too many* results when the ideographs are mushed together, then, seemingly, the right results when separated by spaces. Honestly I don't know if that makes the problem better or worse.
22:55 dcook It makes it even more exciting!
22:55 barton but don't worry about it tonight... my thinker's about shot.
