03:34 mtompset Greetings, #koha.
04:01 mtompset Greetings, cait.
04:01 mtompset I was wondering if you might be able to explain the difference between translate update and translate install.
04:02 eythian that's a terrible question to ask someone who presumably woke up 15 minutes ago.
04:02 dcook ^
04:02 rangi -i, --install Install the specified lang_code language translation.
04:03 rangi install creates .tt files and .js etc from the .po files and the english files
04:03 cait hm make it 10 minutes ago
04:03 cait and overslept 2 alarm clocks by half an hour
04:03 eythian oops
04:03 mtompset cait: Sorry. :(
04:03 rangi update updates the po files from the english templates
04:03 cait         rangi++
04:04 rangi you update, translate, install
04:04 mtompset rangi: So, if I install and install and install... no harm done?
04:04 rangi nope
04:04 mtompset but it is effectively overkill the second and following times?
04:04 rangi not overkill
04:04 rangi just pointless
04:05 rangi unless you have changed the .po file in between
04:05 rangi or changed the english templates
04:05 rangi (by upgrading your install for example)
04:06 mtompset so if I change the english templates (apply a patch), then an update won't work?
04:06 rangi what?
04:06 rangi an update will update the .po file(s) yes
04:06 rangi it wont touch your installed language templates
04:09 mtompset Hmm... let me try this again... I smacked it hard with install, because update wasn't working for me.
04:09 rangi update only updates the .po files
04:09 rangi it does not change any installed language you have
04:09 rangi ie update does not ever never ever ever ever ever update or create .tt files
04:09 rangi only install does that
04:10 rangi so if you change the english template
04:10 rangi and run update, you now have a po file, with the new string in it
04:10 rangi translate it, using poedit, or if its been updated on translate.koha-community.org
04:10 rangi translate it there
04:11 rangi now you have a po file with your new string(s) and translations
04:11 rangi install that to update you .tt and .js files
04:15 mtompset does update touch pref files?
04:16 mtompset bug 10818
04:16 huginn 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=10818 trivial, P5 - low, ---, bgkriegel, Signed Off , System preference OAI-PMH:ConfFile isn't translatable
04:16 cait yes, it also translates the pref files
04:16 cait all the files
04:16 mtompset I signed it off, because if I do perl translate install, I see the behaviour being described.
04:16 rangi update never touches .pref files
04:16 rangi only .po files
04:16 cait ah sorry
04:16 cait shoudl have readback
04:16 cait rangi is right ofcourse
04:16 rangi install makes the .pref files
04:17 mtompset okay... then I noted the mistake in the test plan. ;)
04:21 rangi right time to head home
04:44 cait ... and time to catch my bus and then hopefully the train as well
04:44 cait bye all, later

09:16 magnuse nice
09:16 ashimema lovely :)
09:17 magnuse friday was really nice here
09:17 ashimema it was horrid here.. but we had an excellent weekend to make up for it.
09:18 cait hi ashimema :)
09:18 ashimema hi cait..
09:19 ashimema I've found a relatively annoying bug in the shib implementation cait..
09:19 ashimema it's a rather 'head scratching' one too.. no obviose fix.
09:19 cait oh sorry to hear that
09:19 cait i found a bug in external search also
09:19 ashimema auth in koha is 'weird'
09:19 cait tested with Jesse yesterday, it basicallyworks on my laptop now
09:20 cait i guess it's grown over a longer period of tme...
09:20 ashimema With shib, you can have a semi-anonymous session.. in that you are logged in to shibboleth, but not matched to a koha user and so not actualyl logged in.
09:20 cait maybe document and ask the others for ideas?
09:20 cait seems alot of people have been working with shib in one way or the other
09:20 ashimema I'm reading through the cas code..
09:21 ashimema it deals with this exact kinda thing.. I think
09:21 ashimema it's certainly not a deal breaker at least..
09:21 ashimema you tested shib with jesse?
09:21 ashimema I thought you had somthing else planned?
09:21 cait ah not shib
09:21 ashimema ah.. sorry.. missed a line above.
09:21 ashimema external search.
09:21 cait we tested his pazpar2/external search targets
09:22 ashimema i'm super excited to see that go in :)
09:22 cait but i will be able to test any follow ups now i think, which will make things easier
09:22 cait yeah... i was going to ask you if you can check it for packages...
09:22 ashimema sure thing..
09:22 cait he wanted to do a follow up tomorrow
09:22 ashimema i'll wait for his followup then..
09:23 ashimema what days does he work agian.. Tue and ?
09:23 cait Thursday i think
09:23 ashimema I've got a few questions of my own to collar him about.
09:23 cait I'd love to see that go in as well
09:23 ashimema likewise.
09:25 magnuse so much cool stuff going on! :-)
09:28 ashimema my head hurts..
09:29 ashimema am I reading this right.. if cas is enabled do 'all' urls paths get appended with a 'cas=' query to show wether a valid cas session is prrpesent or not..
09:29 ashimema It seems a bit of a hacky way to access this data..
09:29 ashimema but I could well be reading it wrong.
09:29 ashimema and.. where woudl be a better location for such data.
09:31 cait1 gr
09:31 ashimema poor cait
09:32 ashimema oh.. hang on..
09:32 * magnuse hangs on
09:33 ashimema is there a standard userid for a anonymous session..
09:33 ashimema I want to be able to test, on every page, wether I have both a 'shibboleth session' And an 'anonymous session'.
09:34 cait1 hm we do search history for anonymous
09:34 cait1 and sessions
09:34 wahanui sessions are another biggie
09:39 ashimema indeed we do.
09:40 ashimema think i've reverted to using the whole irc channel as a big rubber duck.. apologies
09:41 magnuse fine by me :-)
09:43 nlegrand howdy #koha
09:54 cait ashimema: no problem with being a rubberduck

14:50 marjorie anyone for my question? in 3.12, on acquisition home, we can see all funds of all branches. Is this an enhancement or i missed a syspref to see just funds of my branch?

15:07 jcamins barton: the problem looks to be URLencoding, or lack thereof.
15:09 barton jcamins -- that makse sense. The link in question was on the search results page, so it's definitely a bug.

17:47 Sean Hi all, we have 11 libraries and I've generated a script that will email each library their own hold pickup notices each morning (rather than having them go to a web directory to view them). Would anyone else find that remotely useful
17:47 Sean If so I'll post it to wiki, if not I'll keep our organization wierdness to ourselves :P
17:53 cait Sean: it's not weird, although i think we couldn#t use it - email is not very safe from a data privacy perspective
17:53 cait which means we are weird :)
18:02 Sean cait this is true :)
18:05 mtompset Greetings again, #koha.
18:27 mtompset Greetings, khall. :)
18:28 mtompset Actually, email is quite safe if your organization hosts its own mail server and you are emailing internally. ;)
18:30 rangi or you are using tls
18:31 rangi id post it to the wiki, libraries do a lot less secure stuff all the time
18:31 rangi the best way to do it, would be to have each library have a gpg key, and you encrypt the mail
18:31 rangi then only the intended recipient could read it
18:32 rangi drojf has a patch for adding this to koha already
18:37 mtompset rangi: if you have a function/method that returns different results based on scalar or non-scalar contexts, is there a way to tell it is in a scalar context?
18:37 mtompset tell it that it is in...
18:40 rangi eh?
18:40 mtompset how to force a function/method to return a scalar in a nice way.
18:41 mtompset I could always do a string operation, but that seems so hokey.
18:42 rangi return(scalar(something))
18:43 rangi not sure why you would ever need to do that tho

19:31 cait @later tell oleonard - could we add table sorting on the circlation conditions table?
19:31 huginn cait: The operation succeeded.

19:34 cait hmm
19:34 cait ok bug 11744
19:34 huginn 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=11744 major, P5 - low, ---, jonathan.druart, Signed Off , cancel receipt doesn't work for one item
19:35 cait when adding items on receive... and you want to cancel it, the items are currnently not deleted automatically
19:35 cait and i failed the fix for deleting them, because they would have left the holds uncancelled and invisible (for records with no more items)
19:36 cait so we changed it and now you can't undo the receive if there is a hold at all... but it still doesn't seem quite right?
19:36 cait wonder if we made it worse
19:41 cait ok
19:41 * cait will stop talking about ac

19:46 jcamins lol
19:46 jcamins Yep. 740.
19:50 trea o/
19:50 trea hi cait
19:54 * cait just found the perfect bug for her march branch 100
19:58 cait hm
19:59 cait is this something to worry about?
19:59 cait bumblebee:~/kohaclone (master) $ git pull
19:59 cait warning: expected SRV RR, found RR type 1
20:00 rangi never seen it before
20:01 rangi did the pull work?
20:02 cait yep it die
20:02 cait yep it did
20:02 cait maybe we don#t have to worry, that's what someone wrote on google:
20:03 cait "At a hotel with a very broken Wi-Fi setup, DNS replies are being rewritten in a weird way"
20:03 cait after the problems earlier... and noone else seeing it...
20:03 rangi most likely that
20:03 rangi since your internet is being weird
20:03 cait yeah
20:13 rhcl cait: can't you just manually enter a good known DNS resolver in your network settings?
20:15 cait it work right now - not going to touch it :)
20:15 rhcl aw, be brave!
20:16 cait nope - too late for htat :) going to sleep soon and I'd rather have internet until I do
20:17 rhcl @seen bag

20:25 wahanui bug 11786 is ready for signoff is it not?

21:26 eythian hi
21:28 rhcl HI eythian
21:40 eythian http://listverse.com/2014/03/30/10-of-the-most-bizarre-books-ever-written/
22:07 wizzyrea if ashs wanted to use bootstrap, the recommendation system wouldn't work eh?
22:07 wizzyrea or wouldn't display
22:08 eythian yeah
23:14 eythian I totally never knew about this:
23:14 eythian      if ($ENV{KOHA_BACKTRACES}) {
23:14 eythian      $main::SIG{__DIE__} = \&CGI::Carp::confess;
23:14 eythian      }
23:14 eythian that'll be handy
23:32 mtompset Hmmm... so a KOHA_BACKTRACES environment variable will confess the die into the log files when die is called?
23:35 eythian I assume that it's die and all other exceptions, but I'm not 100% sure.
23:48 mtompset Greetings, papa.
23:51 papa hi there!
23:51 papa mtompset: those tests I've added, that's what you had in mind?
23:52 mtompset I noticed you putting tests, I haven't had a chance to go look at them. This is for bug 11213, right?
23:52 huginn       04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=11213 enhancement, P3, ---, srdjan, Failed QA , GetItemsInfo() called twice
23:52 papa mtompset: yes. no pressure
23:53 papa ah, need tochange status...
