23:23 eythian cool
23:23 eythian no problem
23:23 mtj eythian: thanks for the apache heads-up :)
23:22 talljoy immediately fixed that problem. easy peasy. thanks!
23:21 talljoy           eythian++
23:21 talljoy bingo....we have a winner. it's the onloan field in items that is set to NULL not a date.
23:18 talljoy let me check the issues table.
23:18 eythian no
23:18 talljoy datelastborrowed wouldn't affect the availability status then.
23:17 eythian if you want to, you could extract that from old_issues. I don't usually bother.
23:17 talljoy what about the datelastborrowed field in items?
23:13 eythian followed by a full zebra rebuild will ensure they're in sync (it assumes the issues table is the correct one)
23:12 eythian           this: update items,issues set items.onloan=issues.issuedate where issues.itemnumber=items.itemnumber;
23:12 eythian the 'onloan' field
23:11 eythian talljoy: one is on the item record, the other is in the issues table
23:11 eythian talljoy: there are two fields, you get "out but available" if they disagree
23:10 eythian http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.apache.announce/58 <-- happy apache upgrade day!
23:06 rangi not sure about detail
23:06 rangi it certainly does on the results page
23:04 mtj good info for me
23:04 mtj rangi: aah, i didnt know xslt touched the 'items' bit of the page
23:02 rangi ive found weirdness with availability and xslt before
22:59 rangi id check if you have xslt switched on or not too, and see if that makes a diff
22:59 mtj ah ok... nice ;)
22:58 talljoy 3.4
22:58 mtj and 3.2, or 3.4?
22:58 talljoy i'll recommend that to start. thanks.
22:58 mtj i guess its on a prod box...
22:57 mtj talljoy: hmmm, i would force a partial , then full zebra rebuild now
22:56 talljoy staff client search screen shows 6 available but the detail page shows them checked out but still Available
22:55 wahanui rangi: I forgot xslt
22:55 rangi wahanui: forget xslt
22:55 wahanui hmmm... xslt is broken for staff display in 3.0.x.
22:55 rangi xslt?
22:54 rangi shouldnt matter if its opac or staff
22:54 rangi the results and detail pages, should be different in both
22:54 talljoy okay. OPAC shows checked out. But the staff client shows them Checked out but Available
22:53 talljoy i'm looking in staff client now. let me check the opac
22:52 mtj rangi: yeah, i agree
22:52 rangi is it diff on search results and detail page talljoy ?
22:52 mtj yeah, prolly a little zebra lag, there....
22:52 rangi details should be from db
22:52 mtj the seach-results availablity is pulled from zebra, not sure about the details page
22:52 rangi how often do your zebra updates run?
22:51 rangi right
22:51 talljoy i have an item that is checked out but shows as available
22:50 talljoy i figured, since there wasn't a 'available' field
22:50 rangi is it available for loan, is it not lost, is it not withdrawn, is it not out
22:50 rangi its a big combo of things
22:50 mtj talljoy, a successful zebra update, i think
22:49 talljoy anyone else care to enlighten me as to the "available" status on an item record?
22:48 jcamins_away And with that encouraging thought, I think I'd better go get the cookies and set out dinner.
22:48 talljoy tell me.
22:48 jcamins_away talljoy: you don't want to know.
22:48 jcamins_away That's why.
22:48 jcamins_away Ah, it's been a year since my last complaint.
22:47 jcamins_away Looks like it's time to call and demand a discount.
22:47 talljoy what triggers the 'Available' status on an item record in the OPAC?
22:46 rangi stink
22:46 jcamins_away They just increased the price $5.
22:46 rangi heh
22:46 jcamins_away Fun, I think.
22:45 rangi for?
22:45 jcamins_away My ISP is trying to charge me an extra $5/month.
22:45 jcamins_away Really? Wow.
22:45 talljoy oh my
22:45 rangi steve jobs resigned
22:45 rangi wow
21:49 Oak huh, 2:52 am. i guess i should go back to sleep. good night again

20:40 rangi or C4:: eventually everything will be in Koha:: as its cleaned
20:39 rangi you can put it in Koha::
20:39 rangi if you are writing a brand new module
20:38 aarkerio Koha is pretty full featured and stable you are doing a great work guys
20:36 cait I think you can find examples for how to query the db in the C4 modules
20:36 cait no, we are not using that at the moment
20:35 aarkerio like http://search.cpan.org/dist/DBIx-Class/
20:34 aarkerio are you using some ORM to get database records?
20:26 aarkerio $KOHA_HOME/lib/C4 right?
20:25 aarkerio coo, If I want to create the Class use C4::MyDBFunctions, where should I put the perl file?
20:16 rangi \@array

19:56 oleonard Actually cait I think that template might be unused, now that I look further
19:56 aarkerio line
19:56 aarkerio oh! thanks, I didn't realize that lie was for me, so, $template->param() is deprecated ?
19:54 wizzyrea (it's rangi's example)
19:54 wizzyrea          $template->{VARS}->{'name'}=$var;
19:54 wizzyrea aarkerio: in case you don't want to scroll up
19:53 rangi ok my bus stop bbl
19:52 rangi param is an html::template method, we are faking it with template::toolkit, but transitioning away from it
19:51 cait oleonard: I still don't see how to get there hm
19:50 rangi scroll back
19:50 rangi I wrote it just above
19:49 aarkerio so, where can I find the API new way?
19:49 cait and sorry for the typos..
19:49 cait but it found a lot of lines from th epo file and was totally unreadable
19:49 cait I treid the grep
19:49 rangi thats the old way
19:49 cait hm
19:49 cait :)
19:48 cait we can work on that when the translation issues are resolved ;)
19:48 rangi ?
19:48 aarkerio but I see this is the current Koha way in opac-main.pl: koha_news => $all_koha_news
19:47 rangi see what I wrote before
19:47 rangi no
19:47 aarkerio ?
19:47 aarkerio is ok=
19:47 aarkerio          page_test       => C4::Context->preference($page),
19:47 aarkerio so just:
19:47 rangi thats the old param method, dont do it that way :)
19:46 aarkerio ??
19:46 aarkerio          page_test       => "". C4::Context->preference($page),
19:46 aarkerio why "". in this code:

19:43 rangi yep
19:42 wizzyrea fun fun!
19:42 wizzyrea more symposium today?
19:41 rangi 2 koha users speaking at the symposium today, should be good
19:37 rangi not the old param way, over time we will kill the instances of that
19:36 rangi is the way to do it
19:36 rangi             $template->{VARS}->{'name'}=$var;
19:36 cait rangi: she is :)
19:35 aarkerio mmm, perfect!!, thanx!!
19:35 rangi then you have to set in the template
19:35 cait aarkerio: did you make the change I suggested?
19:35 rangi yes aakerio
19:34 cait good morning to you rangi
19:34 aarkerio          my $var =  C4::Context->preference('prefrence_name');    ??
19:32 rangi isn't cait on holiday??????
19:31 aarkerio how can I get these preference value?
19:30 aarkerio hi! If I created a new preference in Home Administration System Preferences > Local Use
19:30 rangi will tell u what files its referenced by
19:30 rangi grep -r "serial-issues-full" *
19:30 * oleonard uses grep for dummies, also known as his text editor's find in files search
19:29 oleonard          if ($selectview eq "full"){
19:29 rangi grep is ur friend
19:29 oleonard It's called by serial-issues.pl under certain conditions
19:28 * oleonard does the same hunt every time he works on serials templates
19:27 cait and haven't found it yet clikcing my way through the serials module :(
19:27 cait s
19:27 cait I am not sure which page that i
19:27 cait does someone know how to access serial-issues-full.tt from staff?
19:26 cait never change a running system without good reason
19:21 wizzyrea this is probably a limitation of my creativity
19:21 oleonard It's the same reason we don't use Koha's email notices for holds. We already had a workflow in place. Now I'm afraid to switch because I don't know if it will work the same.
19:20 wizzyrea (plus, for me, one level of taxonomy is quite enough for wp posts, tyvm)
19:20 wizzyrea yea, that's exactly the sort of thing I'm talking about
19:20 cait irc lagged
19:19 nengard i don't use tags on my site cause they weren't there when i started
19:19 cait oh, oleonard already said it
19:19 wizzyrea (and it's working so why fix it)
19:19 nengard you know i said that today while teaching wordpress
19:19 wizzyrea simply because when we set it up, that wasn't an option.
19:18 wizzyrea no, it's up to date, but it's like putting a new body on the chassis of a model T - the basis from whence we came (and the settings/setup thereof) may not take advantage of all that is available on our new body
19:17 cait I think if oyu use authorized values you perhaps have to search for the code instead of the description - but not quite sure
19:17 cait :)
19:17 chris_n           wizzyrea: "predates" == "prehistoric"?  ;-)
19:17 wizzyrea well he was doing something with markiing patrons as active/inactive every night
19:17 nengard ooo - that makes sense
19:17 oleonard The only problem with searching extended attributes with authorized values is that you have to use the code, not the description
19:17 wizzyrea as our setup predates the feature
19:17 nengard what he remembers after 3 days of me throwing info at him ... who knows :)
19:17 nengard wizzyrea i did train libsysguy to use them
19:17 wizzyrea i'm just curious because I'm pretty sure NEKLS isn't using the extended attributes
19:16 cait it's not easy to guess that you can do that
19:16 cait if we haven't told him probably not?
19:16 nengard i'd need to test
19:16 oleonard wizzyrea: Yes, but you can set up authorized values to be used in patron attributes if you want defined choices
19:16 nengard wizzyrea - i think you can use an authorized value in an attribute and have it searchable
19:16 * wizzyrea idly wonders if libsysguy was aware of all of that
19:16 cait we have student numbers in there
19:16 wizzyrea right
19:16 nengard oh good
19:16 cait and you can match against these when doing patron imports :)
19:15 chris_n nengard: got the book, btw; looks nice
19:15 wizzyrea i love you guys
19:15 cait wizzyrea: it's also nice because you can add unique fields
19:15 wizzyrea lulz
19:15 oleonard I have a repeatable one one in my test system for recording the names of all the patron's pets.
19:15 wizzyrea soooooo I guess if you use authorized values and not this system, the results are not searchable?
19:14 nengard i should use that one for my patrons - since my dogs are patrons
19:14 wizzyrea I crack me up.
19:14 nengard HA
19:14 wizzyrea I just added a patron attribute that asks "is the patron a cat"
19:14 cait I am on a train right now (that is already 150 minutes late...) and have no mouse and a very slow internet connection
19:14 cait can you sign-off? will try to investigate later
19:13 nengard wizzyrea yes, very helpful
19:13 cait hmmmmm
19:13 cait oleonard: not sure where it's getting this form, I checked my git variables
19:13 cait wizzyrea: the additinal borrower fields you can configure under admin > patron attributes
19:13 wizzyrea the feature is pretty helpful in that regard.
19:13 nengard I just like seeing images and that page will show you where to go and how it's set up
19:13 wizzyrea ;)
19:13 nengard i didn't mean it that way!!!!
19:12 wizzyrea I totally did.
19:12 oleonard Oh, she totally just RTFMed you, did you see that? ;)
19:12 wizzyrea interesting. we only use authorized values for that.
19:12 nengard and because they - unlike the sort fields - are searchable
19:12 nengard lots of libraries use them for custom values
19:12 nengard if that helps
19:12 nengard http://manual.koha-community.org/3.6/en/patscirc.html#patronattributetypes
19:11 nengard in admin
19:11 nengard they're defined in the extendended patron attributes section
19:11 * wizzyrea mutters
19:11 oleonard they can be, but don't have to be
19:11 nengard no
19:11 wizzyrea which is what I was really asking
19:11 wizzyrea so they are defined in the authorized values
19:11 nengard and fill that in with a value
19:11 nengard so you can create a field call driver's license for example
19:11 cait aarkerio: one obvious thing you have to change is: pages.tmpl to pages.tt
19:11 nengard these are custom fields for patrons
19:11 wizzyrea dumb question of the day... borrower extended attributes = what
19:10 oleonard cait: I think it's just a problem with git am and that patch. git apply works. Looks like there's a duplicate "Content-Type" header in the patch itself.
19:09 cait and some work and others not :(
19:09 cait on the same laptop
19:09 cait I always do the same things
19:09 cait but I am not sure where it's coming from
19:09 cait paulhad that too with one of my patches
19:09 cait ok, still opac-detail?
19:08 oleonard That's the error I get when I try to apply the patch
19:08 cait weird
19:08 aarkerio http://paste.koha-community.org/17
19:08 cait oleonard: that's the error you get?
19:08 cait aarkerio: looking at the wiki page - it needs some changes for our new templating system I think
19:08 cait almost done
19:08 cait working on serials right now
19:08 cait I will rebase
19:08 cait weird
19:08 cait hmm
19:06 pastebot "aarkerio" at 201.141.215.122 pasted "Add HTML page to Koha" (31 lines) at http://paste.koha-community.org/17
19:06 oleonard "fatal: cannot convert from UTF-8utf-8 to UTF-8"
19:06 oleonard cait: The patch for opac-detail.tt doesn't apply for me
19:06 cait the koha as a cms thing
19:05 cait I haven't tried that yet
19:05 oleonard That's just the template aarkerio. Like cait says, you have to have the Perl script pass the variable to the template.
19:05 cait oh
19:04 cait it's easy and will be easier to read
19:04 cait you can use paste.koha-community.org for pasting
19:04 aarkerio I am following this: http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_as_a_CMS
19:01 aarkerio [% IF ( page_test ) %]<div id="opacmainuserblock" class="container">[% page_test %]</div> [% END %]
19:01 aarkerio I typed:
19:01 cait and pass it to the template
19:01 cait like other sysprefs
19:01 cait you have to put it n th eperl code
19:00 cait no
18:53 aarkerio ?
18:53 aarkerio page.pl?p=page_test
18:51 aarkerio thanks again, BTW if I created a variable in "Local Use" how can I get in a koha page.pl ?
18:49 oleonard Good, I was just going to ask if you tried Dumper
18:49 aarkerio          yes, thanks, also I am using:     die Dumper { this => $this, that_array => \@that };
18:48 oleonard Did you find your error logs?
18:48 aarkerio yea!!
18:47 oleonard aarkerio: Still around?
18:46 * chris_n hates localized bugs >:-(
18:45 chris_n ok
18:44 oleonard That was my problem. It's case-sensitive. With the proper case it works.
18:44 chris_n observe case
18:44 chris_n check using an actual code
18:43 oleonard Ah, wait, let me check one more thing
18:43 cait a drop down would be nice
18:43 chris_n which would not work even if it had a drop-down
18:43 chris_n oleonard: no, it just fixes the broken search code on the back end
18:43 * cait has no mouse and is a bit slow today
18:43 cait ah owen was faster
18:43 oleonard It doesn't work for me chris_n. Does your fix add a category drop-down?
18:43 cait give me a minute
18:42 chris_n or ghost bugs or some sort
18:42 cait hm
18:42 * chris_n has a fix, but just wants to be sure he is not seeing bug ghosts
18:42 chris_n well, it does not work here with the code
18:41 cait could this be a possible reason?
18:41 cait but I notiyed a while back it wants the code instead of the description
18:41 chris_n in current master, that is
18:41 cait guessing here
18:41 cait hm
18:41 chris_n can someone confirm that a "Category Code" limited search in cgi-bin/koha/patroncards/members-search.pl does *not* work?
18:40 oleonard aarkerio: Koha error log. There should be one for the staff client and one for the OPAC
18:40 cait back
18:35 aarkerio Apache log?
18:35 aarkerio or even better, how can I see Perl erros messages?
18:33 aarkerio how can I do that in koha?
18:33 aarkerio to see what is in $myArray
18:33 aarkerio          I mean in PHP you can do something like   die(var_dump($myArray));
18:32 aarkerio how you debug Koha?
18:28 cait rebooting, will be back
18:26 magnuse have fun #koha
18:25 aarkerio I want create just and HTML form
18:24 aarkerio mmm, somebody knows a way to add a page to OPAC?
18:17 * oleonard can't log into self checkout
18:14 cait lot's of strings puzzled together
18:14 cait it's bad for translation anyway
18:14 cait not so surprising that one of them is memberentry
18:14 cait some have really a lot of errors :(
18:12 cait rangi started but I had made some mistakes... updated the patches and trying to notmake them again :)
18:12 oleonard Sure
18:12 cait if you could sign-off on some it would be cool too
18:12 cait ah cool
18:11 oleonard No, but it seems to like that better. Got results.
18:11 cait from the kohaclone directory?
18:11 cait where did you run ti?
18:11 cait hm
18:11 cait started at the beginning, but skipped some in the middle
18:10 oleonard I get "Can't stat ./koha-tmpl/opac-tmpl/prog/en: No such file or directory at tt_valid.t line 45"
18:10 cait I am doing it by modules now
18:10 cait it gives you the lines and files
18:10 cait yep
18:07 oleonard And that's all?
18:05 cait perl xt/tt_valid...
18:05 oleonard cait: How is it run?
18:04 magnuse oleonard: clairvoyance!
18:04 cait xt/tt_valid
18:04 cait there is a test
18:04 oleonard cait: What process are you using the find these errors?
18:04 cait and visibility hidden for the else
18:04 cait so only visibilty:hidden for the if
18:04 cait and moved the style inside the other
18:03 cait what I did was make it an if else construction
18:03 magnuse aarkerio: yeah, that page needs an update
18:03 cait hm
18:03 oleonard cait: I wouldn't worry about it unless you can find a problem with how it works currently
18:02 aarkerio I am following http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_as_a_CMS
18:02 cait line 46
18:01 cait serial-issues-full.tt
18:01 magnuse aarkerio: yes, the templating system changed to Template Toolkit with version 3.4
18:00 aarkerio opac-tmpl/prog/en/modules/opac-main.tt ?
18:00 aarkerio opac-tmpl/prog/en/modules/opac-main.tmpl change to
18:00 aarkerio hi!
18:00 oleonard display:none is usually what is used. Where's that from?
17:58 cait never heard of visibility, but having it hidden and visible seems strange
17:58 cait <div name="[% year.year %]" id="[% year.year %]" style="position:absolute; visibility:hidden; margin-top:0px; border:4px;" [% IF ( year.first ) %]style="visibility:visible"[% END %]>
17:58 cait oleonard: does this make sense to you?
17:18 slef yes, that needs quite a few
17:15 magnuse http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Coding_Guidelines might need an update?
17:15 magnuse your welcome
17:15 cait thxfor the mail magnuse :)
17:15 cait :)
17:14 magnuse hehe
17:14 oleonard The trouble is we all like efficiency too darn much
17:12 cait only it's not
17:12 cait it seems a smart thing to do
17:12 cait I think they kept creeping back in
17:12 cait ah
17:12 oleonard I mean I had no idea there were still so many places in the templates where that incorrect template syntax was used (template directives inside tags)
17:11 cait if you want to sign-off on some I would be happy, trying to make no mistakes, but easy to miss something
17:10 cait jenkins will start to whine everyt time a new one is added, but first we have to fix them all to make him happy again :)
17:10 cait not the xhtml, but the directives
17:10 cait I think the test will help that now
17:10 cait still invalid xhtml or directives in html?
17:09 oleonard cait: I had not idea we had so many places that were still wrong
17:07 cait lots of template changes
17:07 cait I am working on the big translation bug
17:07 cait thx :)
17:04 oleonard Those are correct
17:03 cait <input type="checkbox" name="removeItem" checked="checked" />
17:03 cait <input type="checkbox" name="removeItem" />
17:03 oleonard <input type="checkbox" checked /> is invalid
17:02 oleonard Yes
17:02 cait sorry, only looking at a template right now and wondeirng if checked should be checked="checked" to be correct xhtml
17:02 cait oleonard: checked="checked"?
16:58 davi later
16:58 davi I remember to everybody you are invited to join leals.com as _owners_. See http://www.leals.com/partners
16:47 cait good night
16:47 cait :)
16:44 lastnode|laptop good day, friends!
16:44 lastnode|laptop what a truly awesome application you guys have going here :)
16:43 lastnode|laptop i am off to bed but will be back to pick your brains as i get ready to pitch this to the school administration
16:43 lastnode|laptop thank you all very much
16:43 lastnode|laptop ok wonderful
16:43 cait :)
16:43 rhcl and rangi is 7 on the list
16:40 * oleonard likes that we're the first hit on Google for 'Global bug squashing day'
16:40 rhcl_away sigh. OK, use tor. But the vid is just some guy in with a zebra head mask doing a silly dance.
16:39 cait not youtube, but some videos don't work
16:39 cait rhcl_away: blocked for copyrights
16:39 rhcl_away say what? Youtube banned there?
16:39 cait rhcl_away: I can't - would have to leave germany to see it
16:38 rhcl_away But it's particularly appropriate to the discussion about zebra and dancing above.
16:38 rhcl_away ah, you just gotta see it...
16:37 cait or not doing
16:37 cait lastnode: I lost connection (on a train) what is the zebra doing?
16:37 cait hehe
16:37 wahanui rumour has it search faq is at http://koha-community.org/documentation/faq/searching/
16:37 cait search faq?
16:37 wahanui searching faq is at http://koha-community.org/documentation/faq/searching/
16:37 oleonard searching faq?
16:37 oleonard lastnode|laptop: Have you checked the searching faq?
16:36 cait me too
16:36 wahanui :)
16:36 cait wahanui botsnack cookie
16:36 * oleonard loves that one
16:36 wahanui i guess the problem is its human beings doing it
16:36 cait lastnode: what's the problem?
16:36 lastnode|laptop googling has not helped :(
16:36 cait rhcl_away: thx for the link - but can't watch that from here :(
16:36 lastnode|laptop is there a post-install guide someone can link me to maybe?
16:35 cait I heard jcamins produces very yummy cookies in your country :)
16:35 cait oleonard: can't be that bad
16:34 rhcl_away poor cait, so confused. Your missed the zebra dance that lnl and oleonard were discussing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jk_9zqt1Rw4
16:34 oleonard I would suggest we do a snack exchange on #koha but I fear my country has nothing anyone else would want
16:33 * oleonard would so gobble up cookies
16:33 * cait sends oleonard cookies
16:32 * oleonard 's experiences getting zebra to work may not be universal
16:32 * cait looks confused
16:32 cait what did I miss?
16:32 lastnode|laptop doc team needs to get on it imo
16:32 lastnode|laptop im wearing a hat, but nobody told me about the dance
16:32 oleonard lastnode|laptop: Assuming you did the little dance, and are wearing the special hat.
16:31 lastnode|laptop books should start to show up in teh catalog right
16:31 lastnode|laptop once i run rebuild_zebra.pl
16:25 davi wizzyrea: Also, at join lines, some ones have lost the space. For example: "focuson" instead of "focus on"
16:23 lastnode|laptop my main concenr is, if somethinghappens, data has gotta be recoverable/exportable
16:23 lastnode|laptop but i think it's outside our budget
16:23 lastnode|laptop cait: since im not a sysadmin, i did look at koha hosting
16:21 davi Thanks wizzyrea: Could you use <br /> at to break the paragraphs?
16:20 cait don't think it's a dumb question
16:20 cait hm
16:20 reiveune bye
16:20 davi oleonard: ^
16:20 davi I did not want to press to wizzyrea
16:18 lastnode|laptop as ive mentioned here before, im an English teacher, not a programmer/sysadmin
16:18 lastnode|laptop im terribly sorry if that is a dumb question in any way
16:17 lastnode|laptop but im thinking ahead
16:17 lastnode|laptop we only have 3000 books atm
16:17 lastnode|laptop that way the LAN db would always be up to date, and the remote db (for staff to check from home, for example) would nearly always be up to date
16:17 oleonard davi, I'm surprised you didn't email a follow-up query to the list immediately after that IRC meeting. I would recommend doing it now
16:17 lastnode|laptop thank you. can someone also tell me if this setup makes sense from a design POV? the school im working at has limited Internet access, so I'm thinking a LAN install of koha that rsyncs to a remote install daily
16:17 cait I think you could also backup the zebra index to avoid reindexing
16:17 cait if you don't make local changes you want to keep too, the database is enough
16:17 cait yes
16:15 magnuse lastnode|laptop: yes
16:15 lastnode|laptop to backup library data, i juts need to backup the mysql db?
16:14 lastnode|laptop to clarify, zebra is just for search indexing right?
16:14 lastnode|laptop yay
16:14 lastnode|laptop installed and finished
16:14 cait got to the web installer?
16:14 cait :)
16:14 cait ok
16:14 * lastnode|laptop w00ts
16:14 lastnode|laptop yeah i think im about done, cait
16:12 cait and it will install all dependencies
16:11 cait you can even use the packages from debian.koha-community.org
16:11 cait no need to use cpan
16:11 cait ah, I think you can install all modules with apt-get in ubuntu
16:11 cait ah
16:11 lastnode|laptop cait: ubuntu, and i think i figured out why. sec.
16:11 cait using is <reply>
16:11 cait forget using
16:10 wahanui hmmm... the wiki page is broken again.
16:10 davi and the wiki page
16:10 cait lastnode which os are you using?
16:10 davi yes, I have read the logs
16:10 cait hm, have you checked the logs for the meeting?
16:10 cait hm
16:10 davi I know wizzyrea does not take the decission her self
16:10 lastnode|laptop do i need to get them via cpan?
16:10 lastnode|laptop koha tells me the following modules are missing http://pastebin.com/1TN5shay
16:10 oleonard It looks to me like there's not a problem, let's get others' opinions
16:10 davi the last one
16:10 davi so it was discussed even in a meeting
16:09 davi A meetin was set in place with a point to discuss the subject
16:09 oleonard wizzyrea does not make the decision by herself. Since an objection was made, the decision should now get some consensus
16:08 davi 15:46 < wizzyrea> I am actually currently putting off other things to work on your listing.
16:08 davi but as wizzyrea , who already know all the subject, is already working in the listing of leals.com I think it will not needed
16:08 davi If needed I will
16:07 davi and all fit with the agreed in the last Koha meeting
16:07 oleonard Why not post a new response there?
16:07 davi I have read it several times
16:07 davi yes, I have it
16:07 oleonard davi: Do you not have the original email thread where you first requested to be listed?
16:04 davi We are short of customers now
16:03 davi wizzyrea: Sorry if I look nervous
16:01 davi back
16:00 oleonard No point in lowering the tone all around
15:59 wizzyrea lastnode|laptop: well I wasn't going to go that far >.>
15:59 nengard thanks oleonard

15:54 davi Please, let me know anything at anytime
15:53 davi I respect you, I am just a bit suspicous after all this delay!
15:52 davi then*
15:52 davi ten just not listed even disagreeing the rules voted at last meeting
15:52 wizzyrea So the very least you can do is be respectful of my time.
15:52 davi first delayed but meeting
15:52 wizzyrea I am actually currently putting off other things to work on your listing.
15:52 davi I have waited for months to be listed
15:52 oleonard davi: You're not helping yourself by not being civil
15:52 davi no problem, sincerely :)
15:51 wizzyrea davi, I do not appreciate your tone.
15:51 davi If you are not willing to list leals.com just let me know
15:51 davi wizzyrea: If the rules agreed in the Koha meeting can be trashed by MJ Ray (slef) and you, just let me know.
15:50 oleonard          $("label[for='surname']").html("Last name:");
15:49 nengard oleonard on the patron add form - sorry
15:49 oleonard Yes
15:49 wizzyrea extended patron attributes searching works on current master, before you apply this patch?
15:49 wizzyrea it works in current master, without the patch?
15:48 oleonard wizzyrea: "works now?" ?
15:48 davi wizzyrea: Could you provide me with that link, so that I can check it against the agreed in the lat Koha meeting?
15:48 wizzyrea aha, and that works now?
15:47 oleonard wizzyrea: I'm not getting any results when searching for extended patron attributes
15:46 wizzyrea ^^
15:46 oleonard Where?
15:46 nengard easy jquery question ... how do make Surname say 'Last name'?
15:46 wizzyrea cool
15:45 lastnode|laptop looks good, apparently ^^
15:44 lastnode|laptop k i copied the file across

15:43 lastnode|laptop oh wizzyrea it looks like a path error?
15:41 wizzyrea just for fun put XML::LibXML::SAX::Parser where PurePerl is
15:41 lastnode|laptop wizzyrea: #1
15:41 davi welcome back

15:40 wizzyrea and I'm back :)

15:34 davi If so please let me know
15:34 davi Am I mistaken?
15:34 davi they were not agreed on the last Koha meeting
15:34 davi yes my MJ Ray,
15:34 wizzyrea they were brought up on the list, let me find the link
15:34 davi any URL to the mailing list?
15:33 davi What are those concerns you are talking about?
15:32 davi I do not know addtional requirements are
15:32 davi As per the email you sent me, and and per the decisions taken in the last meeting there is not any problem
15:31 wizzyrea my apologies if I missed it
15:31 wizzyrea davi, had you addressed the legal concerns that were raised about your website, on the list or otherwise?
15:30 wahanui wizzyrea is probably amazing!
15:30 davi wizzyrea?
15:29 wizzyrea and finally check to make sure that searching on extended attributes still works
15:28 lastnode|laptop magnuse: yeah that links to this guide
15:27 wizzyrea and check to see if the library/category limiting works
15:27 wizzyrea test the 3 part name search
15:27 wizzyrea yes, actually
15:27 oleonard Sure wizzyrea, anything in particular?
15:27 davi hi wizzyrea. Has leals.com been added to the support list?
15:26 huginn 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=6253 normal, PATCH-Sent, ---, srdjan, ASSIGNED , Unified Patron Search subroutine
15:26 wizzyrea I wonder if I could get a couple of people to look at/test bug 6253
15:24 magnuse or try using the PPA set up by the current Release Manager: https://launchpad.net/~koha/+archive/ppa (i'm not sure how experimental that is...)
15:24 lastnode|laptop yes
15:22 oleonard Use the INSTALL file that comes with Koha. Are you downloading the latest version?
15:22 lastnode|laptop http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_on_Ubuntu
15:22 lastnode|laptop is this guide current?
15:22 lastnode|laptop im setting up koha on ubuntu natty
15:21 wahanui hola, lastnode|laptop
15:21 lastnode|laptop hi
15:19 wizzyrea ah nm
15:19 wizzyrea sekjal, about?
15:08 magnuse i'll just tell them they have to scan barcodes
15:07 magnuse i have a pretty "relaxed" school asking about it
15:07 magnuse oleonard: yeah, something like that
15:06 oleonard magnus_afk: Like by crossing their hearts and swearing they did? :P
15:06 wizzyrea that would be considered "dangerous" in lots of libraries
15:06 wizzyrea no I don't think so
15:06 magnus_afk is there a way for patrons to return books, other than scanning barcodes in the sco client? i think not, but might have missed something...
15:05 magnus_afk        wizzyrea++
15:05 * wizzyrea mutters about plugins that delete their data when updating.
15:04 wizzyrea but anyway, it should be working again.
15:04 wizzyrea oh bother gotta clear teh cache, sec
15:04 wahanui searching faq is at http://koha-community.org/documentation/faq/searching/
15:04 wizzyrea searching faq?

13:57 cait time to change trains
13:48 cait hi Agent_Dani :)
13:48 Agent_Dani o/
13:46 cait dinner?
13:46 magnuse dinnertime!
13:46 * magnuse was mostly kidding ;-)
13:46 cait hehe
13:45 fredericd magnuse: it would be a transient syspref
13:45 oleonard magnuse: As hdl points out, we already have PatronsPerPage
13:44 oleonard YUI seems to be another casualty of Yahoo's habit of eventual neglect
13:44 magnuse since paul_p is not here: why not make the limit a syspref? ;-)
13:44 wahanui hello, fredericd
13:44 fredericd cait: hi
13:44 cait :)
13:44 cait hi fredericd
13:43 fredericd oleonard: ok, I understand (and favor this replacement since YUI begin to show its age)
13:43 sekjal if the interface is only showing 10 at a time, then that would seem like a good choice
13:43 sekjal okay ,adding the limit to the circ/ysearch.pl SQL is a simple one-liner. Just need to file the bug report, and pick a number.
13:43 oleonard fredericd: We're still waiting on an official release of the jQueryUI menu widget to replace the YUI one
13:42 fredericd and yes, a SQL search without LIMIT is insane with large borrowers table
13:42 oleonard Not deprecated yet. Not until the jQuery UI stuff is ready
13:42 fredericd current autocompletion system uses YUI which is deprecated in Koha, isn't it?
13:42 oleonard So a script-side fix would complement it
13:42 oleonard The changes I refer to are client-side only. It's a configuration of the jquery autocomplete widget
13:41 sekjal oleonard: that sounds awesome. start at 3, and limit to 10 or 25 (or even 60) in the SQL will significantly reduce the impact on databases with hundreds of thousands of patron records
13:40 magnuse sounds sensible
13:39 oleonard By the way sekjal, in my work on integrating jQueryUI I have the autocomplete configured to not start searching until the query reaches 3 letters
13:38 oleonard I'm only seeing 10 results
13:38 sekjal most of the time, I think people are typing 2-5 letters anyway before looking at the hits list, so those first couple queries are just wasted CPU cycles
13:37 sekjal if the interface is already limiting to 60 at a time, then I think the SQL should do the same
13:34 oleonard Not that I've heard complaints about that aspect of it
13:34 oleonard (ideally)
13:33 oleonard But the results should indicate to the user that they are incomplete
13:32 hdl maybe could take the patronperpage limit by default
13:32 sekjal I believe the interface layer limits... I'm seeing a MaxCacheEntries value of 60
13:32 sekjal looking at the SQL in circ/ysearch.pl, it's pretty clear why: it's unlimited
13:32 oleonard sekjal: Does it not limit by default now?
13:31 sekjal we're finding that on databases with very large numbers of patrons, CircAutoComplete will bog a system down
13:31 cait circautocmplete - the thing that suggests patrons?
13:31 hdl so ... :X
13:31 sekjal oleonard: no, it's tangential
13:31 hdl sekjal: if you ask a librarian, he may answer 10 or 25 or all...
13:31 oleonard sekjal: Is this part of your work on a unified patron search?
13:30 oleonard thanks for checking hdl
13:30 hdl So not valid any longer
13:30 hdl oleonard: seems that the edit was already merged into facets work
13:29 sekjal for CircAutoComplete, how many results should be shown, maximum, for any partial search?
13:27 oleonard If so, it needs to be updated to reference master and possibly have the patch updated as well
13:27 hdl Or GetBranches has been rewritten
13:27 hdl unless facets don't use branches any longer

13:19 oleonard kyle907, I see you've leveled up ;)
13:17 sekjal morning, magnuse
13:17 magnuse hiya folks!
13:16 sekjal hi, cait
13:15 cait hi oleonard and sekjal
13:14 sekjal hi, oleonard
13:14 oleonard Hi sekjal
12:53 magnuse kyle424: np
12:52 kyle424 indeed, something I need to start doing.
12:52 cait did jcamins_away just say gym?
12:51 kyle424 Thanks for the help jcamins and magnuse
12:50 jcamins_away Okay, time to start the morning with a trip to the gym. TTYL, all.
12:50 jcamins_away Good idea. :)
12:50 kyle424 Thanks for the info, I'll set up the cronjob instead.
12:50 jcamins_away The documentation says not to use zebraqueue.
12:50 jcamins_away It leaks memory and doesn't work.
12:50 jcamins_away Yes.
12:49 kyle424 I didn't know that was considered a bad practice. Does it have problems?
12:49 jcamins_away It's buggy.
12:49 jcamins_away Oh, and never, _ever_ use the zebraqueue daemon.
12:48 kyle424 I'm using the zebraqueue daemon. Both the zebraqueue daemon and the zebra daemon appear to be running as koha.
12:47 jcamins_away They need to run as koha.
12:47 jcamins_away You have your cron jobs set up wrong.
12:46 kyle424 I think it's still the same problem. All the files in /var/lib/zebradb/biblios/register are owned by root, and I think that's causing the problem. I re-owned them to koha, and it appeared to work, but now they are owned by root again.
12:44 kyle424 It appears to have been an ownership issue, but now I've got a different problem. When I check out an item, Koha then says I have no items for that record on the search results page. A full reindex will make them show up as checked out.
12:36 magnuse kyle424: and how many records are you indexing?
12:35 jcamins_away kyle424: what file system are you using?
12:33 kyle424 the filesystem shows plenty of available space.
12:32 kyle424 The lines starting with shadow and register both end with 20G
12:32 kyle424 Maybe that isn't the problem then.
12:27 magnuse (early april to be precise)
12:26 magnuse but what version? the limit has been 20G since a while back
12:26 magnuse kyle424: on a normal install that should be /etc/koha/zebradb/zebra-biblios.cfg i think
12:25 magnuse kyle424: you can edit the limit in zebra-biblios.cfg
12:25 * Brooke has India on the brain.
12:25 Brooke read that too fast as Asoka XD
12:23 NateC hi cait :)
12:23 cait #koha
12:23 cait hi NateC, hi äkoha
12:19 kyle424 I'm guessing I'm running into the default 4-gig limit, but I can't figure out what I need to do to increase the limit, any ideas?
12:18 kyle424 Hey all, I'm getting this error from zebra: koha-zebra-ctl.koha: failed to write(client_errfd = 6): File too large
12:10 nengard Brooke you can have a favorite ... I'm the mommy, I can't :) hehe
12:05 jcamins_away nengard: That's what I meant. :)
12:05 Brooke baseless allegations are being made against my person! ;)
12:04 nengard Brooke has obviously picked a favorite :) hehe
12:04 nengard :)
12:04 nengard jcamins, he's on prozac
12:00 * Oak waves
11:59 Brooke he's the cute one. That's all that matters.
11:59 jcamins_away Is Beau the one on Ritalin?
11:58 Brooke it would be better than the Incredible Journey ;)
11:56 Brooke he'd run. He'd totally find me despite never being in my neighbourhood.
11:55 nengard aww shucks! thanks, just not sure how i'd get them to you and pick them up
11:54 hdl Hi Amit_Gupta
11:54 hdl Good Morning America.
11:52 Brooke Beau would have run to my place if you needed help ;)
11:52 nengard hello
11:52 nengard or
11:52 nengard hellp
11:52 Brooke hey nengard :)
11:38 druthb If a candle is not handy, some people repeat to themselves (unhurriedly) a favorite short poem, or scripture from their faith tradition. That works, too.
11:36 Oak I better try it then :)
11:35 druthb Oak: that's the idea. even if all you can do the first time is a minute, or five minutes, it's worth the time you spend just sitting. The benefits quickly start to add up.
11:35 Brooke howdy :)
11:34 druthb hi, Brooke! :)
11:34 Oak oh hae Brooke :)
11:34 Oak hmm... well, I think when I'll sit, I won't be able to concentrate in the start... then after some effort, I'll begin... :)
11:34 Brooke kia ora
11:24 druthb don't worry about how *long* you can do it...don't set a timer, or even a goal time...just sit until you can no longer concentrate, for any reason, then get up. There's not much "right" and "wrong" when it comes to meditation; try not to judge how well you are doing it--except by how much better you feel afterward.
11:23 Oak hmm. sounds good. i'll definitely try it. i am sure it helps ...
11:20 druthb Meditation is very good for the mind and body, Oak, and it doesn't have to be anything fancy...just sit still someplace comfortable, and stare into a candle, and focus on the flame--that's how I got started.
11:15 Oak what do you have in mind magnuse ? for lunch?
11:14 magnuse wanders off to meditate on some lunch ;-)
11:13 Oak :)
11:12 Oak oh cool. this is good. meditation... i want to start... i think i need it too.
11:10 druthb I do work a lot, Oak....but who's been telling tales? :P
11:10 druthb I had an amazing meditation last night over a small piece of crystalline bismuth that someone very special to me gave me recently. stared at this little thing for a half-hour or so, then spent a solid hour on the cushion mulling over some things. That's very refreshing for me.
11:09 Oak go easy on the work though. we hear you work too much ...
11:09 Oak good good :)
11:08 magnuse yay
11:07 druthb doing pretty well. It's been a busy few days, but I'm healthy and mostly-happy, so I'll call it a win.
11:06 Oak how are ye?
11:06 Oak druthb !!
11:05 * druthb waves to Oak, too.
11:05 magnuse hiya druthb
11:04 druthb hi, magnuse. :)
11:04 magnuse hehe
11:04 * druthb grumbles at her fumbly fingers.
11:04 magnuse 4?
11:04 magnuse \o
11:04 druthb o/4
10:51 jcamins_away Hello, Amit_Gupta.

08:38 Oak :)
08:38 cait hehe
08:37 Oak aha, yes...
08:37 magnuse but why measure time in years when you can measure it in koha releases? ;-)
08:36 * Oak goes into deep thought mode
08:36 magnuse too true!
08:36 Oak weird.
08:35 Oak just ~4 months to go and there will be another year. how time flies! hm.

08:25 rangi everything private by default, but you can decide what you want to make public
08:25 magnuse so everyone can see the stuff in your feeds?
08:25 rangi i think badges, plus the rss feeds things could be combined into your 'public' page
08:11 cait oh, the earthquake is on the news
07:54 magnuse and the next step would be to make koha read email, right? ;-) (only kidding, the rss is interesing)
07:54 magnuse i like the rss idea!
07:53 magnuse ah
07:52 rangi yep, but there were 2 that were really prolific

02:03 rangi sounds good to me
02:03 eythian in that case, I'm removing the history one and making everything use the regular one.
02:03 eythian cool
02:02 rangi nope looks very similair even with a diff
02:01 rangi i will tho
02:01 rangi havent looked
02:00 eythian is it just me, or is there no appreciable difference between acquisitions-history-search.inc and acquisitions-search.inc?
01:26 rangi http://www.stuff.co.nz/dominion-post/news/5495755/Text-tracks-down-motorway-samaritan <-- kids these days, sheesh

01:21 NateC heh yeah bareley
01:21 rangi hey NateC, you survived eh?
01:14 eythian ext4 is pretty mature these days
00:31 mtj nah, i'll give ext4 a go - its a personal dev box, after all
00:30 mtj ok, i might stick with ext3
00:29 ibeardslee we use ext4 for anything new .. although a couple of xfs for special cases
00:28 rangi dont know enough to have an opinion
00:27 druthb I've used ext3 and...hm...xfs, I think?
00:27 druthb I've never used ext4.
00:27 mtj any prefs?
00:27 mtj random linux Q... ext4 or ext3 for prod file-systems?
00:24 Agent_Dani Apparently there was a pretty big aftershock just now.
00:24 Agent_Dani We had that - I felt it while at work and my wife, who was at home some 15 miles closer to the epicenter, didn't.
00:20 druthb I heard some folk here did, but I did not.
00:19 rangi did you feel the earthquake whereever you are?

00:16 rangi heya druthb
