16:53 NCAR_Michael Hello Kohabrains! I've some inquiries to toss into your midst.
16:53 wizzyrea shoot
16:54 NCAR_Michael okay, so all of our patrons are employees of the larger org (UCAR)
16:54 NCAR_Michael each month UCAR has some number of new hires
16:54 NCAR_Michael HR has a list. with Unicorn, we had somehow figured out a way
16:55 NCAR_Michael for HR to send that list of new hires directly to the Unicorn system
16:55 NCAR_Michael which then translated them into patron records.
16:55 NCAR_Michael magic
16:55 wizzyrea what does the list look like?
16:55 NCAR_Michael i wonder if we could do that with Koha
16:56 wizzyrea it's probably possible, there's a bulk patron import in koha. It would be where send = upload the CSV, but still pretty magic
16:56 NCAR_Michael good question. which format would be ideal for Koha?
16:57 wizzyrea on the bulk patron import page there's a link to the csv the import expects
16:57 wizzyrea 1s, it's probably in the manual
16:57 NCAR_Michael okay. i'll take a look. i suppose i'll just have to accept this as a monthly activity for me to take care of.
16:58 NCAR_Michael always trying to find ways around doing any actual work around here...
16:58 wizzyrea http://koha-community.org/documentation/3-4-manual-en/?ch=x6587#createpatronfile
16:58 wizzyrea :) that kind of laziness is good, I think
16:58 wizzyrea ;)
16:58 NCAR_Michael sweet. gracias, wizzyreabrain.
16:59 NCAR_Michael signing off...
16:59 wahanui hmmm... signing off is a great idea!
16:59 wizzyrea later :)
17:10 pastebot "nengard" at 98.114.30.184 pasted "need a way to combine these to find the info for items that are marked long overdue lost" (19 lines) at http://paste.koha-community.org/38
17:11 nengard looking for some query help on the above
17:11 nengard if anyone has an idea i'd love to hear it
17:11 nengard the top report needs the second integrated in it to find the borrower who had the book before it was marked long overdue lost
17:15 indradg gmcharlt, around? the linker script didn't do the trick :(
17:16 gmcharlt indradg: could you send me a sample export of a couple bibs and the authorities that you were expecting them to be linked to?
17:16 indradg gmcharlt, ok... working on it

19:32 wizzyrea hi snail
19:32 snail mōrena koutou
19:44 rangi ata marie
19:49 sekjal hey, #koha, just a quick message from your QA manager: I'll be moving house for the next couple days, but will be advancing items in the SIGNED_OFF state in BZ to either Passed QA or Failed QA as I can on Monday and Tuesday. Lots of great stuff in the queue!
19:49 rangi yay! i see one just hit passed qa :)
19:50 sekjal rangi: figured I'd push that one, since I'm intimately familiar with it, and testing proved very easy
19:50 rangi yep
19:50 sekjal several of the others look pretty quick to test, as well
19:50 sekjal some of them, a little more in-depth
19:51 rangi yep
19:51 rangi ill push that one to master this evening
19:52 rangi i have a 4 year old on me at the moment
20:04 * magnuse pictures rangi as a climbing-toy
20:04 rangi pretty much :)
20:04 magnuse :-)
20:07 rhcl added a libki branch to github, for those that care. http://github.com/rhcl/Libki-RHCL
20:07 rangi cool rhcl
20:08 rangi okk time to feed the animals^w children
20:08 rangi bbl
20:08 wizzyrea :D
20:08 magnuse hehe
20:08 rhcl no no! don't feed children to the animals!
20:09 gmcharlt     rhcl++
20:09 magnuse rhcl: what are you doing with libki? i know the biggest public library here in norway is starting to use that too
20:11 rhcl Well, we are currently just re-evaluating it. We looked at it about 12-18 months ago, and thought it had great potential, and it worked very well for the things it did.
20:12 rhcl But we felt it needed more features before we could actually use it. So Kyle started doing some more work on it, and he was doing a complete re-write using Cake php insead of ??
20:12 rhcl So he's done some of that work, and we've just set up a new (test) libki server and a single test client to reevaluate the system
20:13 rhcl We found a few bugs, and managed to fix those, so have setup the github for the changes we did.
20:14 magnuse very cool! i'll give the norwegian people a hint about it ;-)
20:14 rhcl I think it's an excellent system, and it works very well w/ free operating systems--our server is Ubuntu and the clients are Mint 10
20:15 magnuse yeah, they will be using some kind of linux for the clients
20:15 sekjal       rhcl++
20:15 magnuse      rhcl++ # yup
20:15 rhcl I like the fact that the sysadmins have complete control over the OS and the apps, and ubuntu and derivatives using the gnome-manager have great customizations possible.
20:16 wizzyrea and your patrons don't seem to mind?
20:16 wizzyrea that's always the concern expressed here, that patrons will get mad
20:16 rhcl we don't give them a choice, and they don't seem to notice
20:16 rhcl :)
20:16 magnuse hehe
20:17 rhcl That's the thing...with Ubuntu/Mint et al you have complete control over the apps, and the only thing that seems to be a problem ever is Active X web sites.
20:17 mib_42nk84 a
20:17 wizzyrea aja
20:17 wizzyrea aha
20:18 rhcl Those, admittedly, we just can't simply do anything about, but there aren't that many that are really important anymore. Notably OverDrive uses Active X so it's out.
20:23 wizzyrea o no, you lost overdrive
20:23 wizzyrea pity.
20:23 wizzyrea not.
20:23 rhcl I'd like to lose the D* thing.
20:33 druthb o/
20:45 magnuse \o
20:47 magnuse g'night #koha
20:47 rhcl later magnuse
20:54 sekjal g'night, #koha!
21:01 rhcl correction to my mention of Kyle's use of Cakephp above--he is jettisoning it in favor of his own framework
21:01 wizzyrea i was wondering about that
21:24 Brooke kia ora
21:29 rhcl Kyle has a bug tracker for libki at bugs.libki.org. Recommend anyone interested register and take a look at it. There are some great feature suggestions on there. <smiling>
21:31 druthb Hi, Brooke! :)
21:31 Brooke :)
21:47 druthb Hmpf.

21:52 * druthb chuckles.
22:29 rhcl outta here, bye #koha
