22:40 nengard bg - i don't think i was eating in the right places - it wasn't spicy - it wasn't interesting - it was fish and rice of some variation
22:40 rangi pass, and dunno
22:40 nengard got a partner complaining about the new pop up that patrons owe fines when they check books in - was there not a preference associated with this development? and if not does anyone know the bug number so i can update it?

21:56 cait and after that edit and save to get it into zebra_queue and reindexed?
21:56 cait will do
21:54 rangi (try it on a test db first)
21:53 rangi and the same for biblioitems
21:53 rangi i think that will do it
21:53 rangi insert into biblio select * from deletedbiblio where biblionumber=whatever
21:51 cait thx a lot
21:51 rangi lemme find you the syntax
21:50 cait but that's a problem for another day
21:50 cait would be good to see that alive again :)
21:50 rangi you will have to do it with sql
21:50 rangi you used to be able to do it in koha, but that feature has been broken
21:50 cait yep, i know they are there
21:50 rangi look in the deledbiblio table (and deletedbiblioitems)
21:49 cait and they want me to repair it
21:49 cait my library has deleted an on order item and now the title is missing from the order
21:49 cait rangi: is there a save way to bring back deleted biblios and items?
21:49 cait cya

21:49 cait hope you feel better soon Irma
21:45 Irma OK. Better get moving. Cheers all and a bientot!
21:44 Irma that should improve with time though
21:43 Irma The only thing that remains is that when I get tired, that's it I have hit the "wall" and can't push on
21:43 cait really looking forward to that week, hope to learn a lot.
21:43 rangi nope

21:42 rangi hi Irma
21:42 Irma Wow good on you two to make the trip and take time off work. What Koha advocates you are!
21:41 Irma ah, so you are part of the hackers ... great!
21:41 cait and magnus has the same problem, so i will not be alone :)
21:41 cait yes - I hope it will not be a problem
21:41 Irma pity for you. It's a nice place and a great opportunity

21:40 Irma cait are you going to Marseille for the hackfest? Wish I was closer ...
21:40 cait happy to hear you are better now
21:39 Irma wonder how many people still have not changed to koha-community.org
21:38 Irma still have the old koha address on their website

20:54 jcamins           Okay, I figured out what the line should be:         if ($redirect eq "items" || ($mode ne "popup" && !$is_a_modif && $redirect ne "view")){
20:53 wizzyrea i'll grant you they weren't walking that talk last january either, but it hadn't been sold off yet.
20:52 moodaepo wizzyrea: Ah ok
20:52 wizzyrea 2010
20:52 wizzyrea the pdf
20:52 wizzyrea moodaepo: that is from last january
20:52 moodaepo "Koha’s greatest strength is the open source community, where users steer development, rather than a vendor." Also the dates sites installed are different is that sites installed by vendor?
20:52 rangi heh
20:51 moodaepo druthb: One last thing about the pdf I meantioned earlier, might want to shoot them an email about LLs entry also now that pisses me of a bit but why am I surprised. LL probably sent it over.

20:48 * jcamins discovers the limit of short-circuit analysis
20:47 jcamins So it's still wrong, it just goes the other way.
20:47 rangi yeah
20:47 jcamins Previously the other one was a no-op.
20:46 jcamins And actually, I just realized why.
20:46 jcamins Except you can't choose that option if you don't have the permission.
20:46 rangi yeah
20:46 rangi its to do with the permissions
20:46 sekjal something about edititem permissions
20:45 jcamins ;)
20:45 jcamins But I was kind of hoping some expert would be able to understand why he did, since I probably won't be talking to him until next week.
20:45 rangi ud probably need to ask him why
20:45 rangi 173d3cbb2d836069e6ecaa7263da380ee90a00aa
20:45 jcamins I know.
20:45 rangi owen changed htat line
20:44 jcamins Because you will fall through to the elsif even if you click "Save and edit items."
20:43 jcamins *no-op
20:43 jcamins Which means that $redirect eq items is a noop.
20:43 sekjal so $redirect eq "items" is no longer enough for it to be true
20:43 jcamins Right.
20:43 rangi             its now if ($mode ne "popup" && !$is_a_modif && $redirect eq "items"){
20:41 jcamins Okay, maybe "makes sense" is a bit strong.
20:41 jcamins And that version makes sense to me.
20:41 jcamins           It used to look like this: if (($mode ne "popup" && !$is_a_modif) || $redirect eq "items"){
20:40 jcamins Thanks.
20:40 rangi ill have a look

20:37 rangi :)

15:17 kmkale Good night #koha
14:49 jcamins Okay. Got it, thanks.
14:48 gmcharlt jcamins: I actually asked something similar; patches against the branch are OK as long as they're marked with a bug number and "[TT]" or something like that in the subject line
14:32 jcamins I should've asked this four hours ago when rangi was still awake, but if I wanted to submit a patch using T::T, does it *have* to wait until 3.6, since Master won't be switched to T::T until April 1, or can a T::T-based feature be accepted if the patch against new/enh/bug_5917 is sent before April 1?
13:14 kf ah good

12:53 jcamins kf: any idea how ot find the error with poedit?
12:52 eythian_ So, the timestamp on Nicole's patch sign-offs is late May. I wonder if she realises she'll miss the release :)
12:47 eythian_ Of course, that would mean more travel around here for me. Oh well :)
12:47 kf :)
12:46 eythian_ which would be great.
12:46 eythian_ they also want to federate the searches of the whole region.
12:46 eythian_ But, the folks here are exceptionally keen about Koha which is great. There may be a kohacon here in a couple of years :)
12:45 eythian_ The violence inherent in the system!
12:44 eythian_ On the flip side, I'm a little tired of smelling like insect repellent and having to take anti-malaria pills... :)
12:44 * jwagner whacks eythian_ upside the head....

12:43 eythian_ jwagner: there really are :)
12:43 eythian_ kf: I'm currently in a +11 timezone rather than +13.
12:43 jwagner eythian_, there are a LOT of good titles in that site :-)
12:43 kf isn't it really late for you?
12:42 kf eythian_: why are you still here? :)
12:40 kf missing placeholders and such
12:40 kf and there is something in the settings that will prompt you with errors when you try to save the file
12:40 kf you can open the po file with it
12:39 kf it's a program available for windows and linux
12:39 jcamins How do I use poedit?
12:38 eythian_ I love seeing things like this: "Certaine sermons or homilies appointed to be read in churches in the time of Queen Elizabeth of famous memory : and now thought fit to bee reprinted by authority from the Kings Most Excellent Maiestie. "
12:37 kf try correcting it in pootle or po file and install the language again
12:37 kf it can complain about things like that
12:37 kf jcamins: poedit it good for finding those things
12:36 eythian_ looks like a stray space
12:36 jcamins Oh, I did tget an error: % s: Unknown or unsupported format specification
12:36 kf strange
12:34 jcamins (change the language to Portuguese)
12:34 eythian_ perhaps it's using stop words, my usual searches to test things didn't work, but something more meaningful did :)
12:34 jcamins kf: it seemed to work, but I get this: http://catalog.sanbenitofl.org/cgi-bin/koha/opac-main.pl
12:33 jwagner You will definitely get lots of results searching on George Washington or George Mason :-)
12:33 eythian_ jwagner: nope, my bad
12:33 jwagner Sorry, Chatzilla is showing funky characters -- what were you searching?
12:33 eythian_ jwagner: is search broken on that site: "No results match your search for the in Founding Fathers Library Consortium Catalog"? (I didn't add the trailing space there)
12:32 kf sometimes there can be mistakes in the po file breaking things
12:32 kf jcamins: do you get an error message?
12:32 jcamins It says it's 99% translated.
12:32 jcamins Does Portuguese not work?
12:31 jcamins Hm.
12:30 eythian_ cool
12:30 jcamins eythian_: it's definitely possible to use MARC.
12:30 * eythian_ looks
12:30 jwagner We also did a lot of work with collection codes. See http://mv.ptfsinc.com
12:29 eythian_ My thinking, at least initially, was that it could probably work within the MARC framework and then maybe some template changes to make things show up correctly. But I'm not a cataloguer so I don't really know what's possible.
12:28 eythian_ jwagner: that sounds pretty good
12:28 jwagner eythian_, one of my sites has a lot of archival/manuscript materials. I set up some specialized indexes for them on MARC fields that aren't usually indexed, but we were able to work in the MARC structure.
12:28 eythian_ it's somewhat disorganised at the moment due to lack of space and lack of cataloguing. So it requires substantial experience to even know which room something is in.
12:27 gmcharlt in that case, box-level records would be a good start
12:27 eythian_ gmcharlt: yeah, the Solomon Islands National Archives.
12:27 gmcharlt eythian_: this is an archve?
12:27 eythian_ But if it were significantly difficult to go much further, barcoding and recording each box would be an OK start.
12:26 eythian_ OK. Ideally we'd do it right though so they don't have to go through the process again.
12:26 jcamins If they only want to go down to the collection level, it's pretty easy.
12:25 eythian_ I'm not averse to a trip back here to sort that out for them :)
12:25 eythian_ jcamins: not really, at the moment it's just something we talked about as an idea
12:25 jcamins eythian_: do you know at what level of detail they want to catalog?
12:25 eythian_ awesome :)
12:24 jcamins Woohoo!
12:24 gmcharlt jcamins: certainly before the cutoff
12:24 eythian_ well, they want two things: one is to index their library, which is fine (I saw the whole thing today, the number of records would probably not be far off 1,000), and the other is to catalogue their archives.
12:24 jcamins gmcharlt: any idea when that'll be ready?
12:24 jcamins There would still be a lot of display issues, but there are a few libraries using Koha for archives, and XSLT changes are easy.
12:23 kf with links to records in the set... can't explain it well in english
12:23 kf eythiah_: a method to have a set records with links to set records, hiearchies in marc data
12:23 gmcharlt yep, pulling in the latest MARC21 update
12:22 jcamins At the moment, the default MARC frameworks are missing a bunch of the fields that they'd want, but I understand gmcharlt has a plan to get them updated.
12:22 jcamins kf: yeah, they'd definitely use $w.
12:22 eythian_ kf: $w?
12:22 kf jcamins: perhaps the $w links would work for them?
12:22 eythian_ OK, that's a good start
12:21 jcamins Well, most of the data.
12:21 jcamins However, all the data that's needed can be stored in MARC.
12:21 jcamins So, the out-of-the-box display in Koha is not designed with archival collections in mind.
12:21 eythian_ even the National Library uses card catalogues.
12:21 eythian_ (I've been here for a week providing Koha training)
12:20 eythian_ this is not a rich country
12:20 jcamins Ouch.
12:20 eythian_ they're using a 20-year-old card catalogue system
12:20 jcamins eythian_: ah.
12:20 kf you have to activate the language in your sys prefs after running it
12:20 eythian_ jcamins: hahaha you jest :)
12:20 eythian_ basically, is it reasonably feasible without too many changes? I don't know if MARC is geared towards that sort of thing or not, and what kind of template changes might have to occur for it to happen.
12:20 kf jcamins: not sure if it works the same when you are using koha-common instances, but yes, that can be run anytime
12:20 jcamins Are they using MARC at the moment?
12:19 jcamins Not a whole lot, but a bit.
12:19 eythian_ jcamins: I wish to have a word with you. I had a chat with the National Archives here (where "here" is the Solomon Islands at the moment) about Koha, and they're interested in looking into it. rangi suggested that you might know something about using Koha for government archives type records.
12:18 tcohen hi #koha
12:18 jcamins kf: thanks.
12:17 jwagner kf, I think you just answered another question of mine -- if we want to add a language to an existing install, we just run the command you gave on that instance?
12:17 eythian_ that's also an option.
12:17 eythian_ but if not (and probably not, as it probably sends the address as a single argument) it strikes me as a fairly easy and worthwhile thing to do across the board.
12:17 jwagner Thanks, eythian_ -- I'm going to strongly recommend that they set up an internal list/alias rather than trying to send to individual staff addresses.
12:15 eythian_ jwagner: it depends on how it sends, I've not looked at the code, but if it's a call to sendmail, it might work.
12:15 kf it's in misc/translator I think
12:15 kf perl translate install <language-code>
12:13 jcamins I know I've done it, but I am completely blanking on how.
12:12 jcamins Hey, how do you install additional languages?
12:11 jwagner Looking at the code, it's using it as a "from" line, and I don't think email programs let you have multiple "from" addresses.
12:08 jwagner Most of my sites use an alias or list address, but I have one asking if they can just put two staff people's addresses in.
12:08 eythian_ It seems unlikely that it could unless it's coded to do so, in which case I'd hope it were documented. (I say this without checking the code.)
12:06 jwagner Hi AmitG
12:06 jcamins I've never tried it, so I could be mistaken.
12:06 AmitG heya jwagner
12:06 jwagner I'd never heard of it being able to, but I don't think I've ever looked at it either. Thanks.
12:05 jcamins I do not think it can.
12:05 jwagner Does anyone know offhand if the email address field in the branches policy and/or the KohaAdminEmailAddress syspref can take multiple email addresses?
10:42 magnuse jcamins: cool

06:39 rangi if you dont do either of those, you cant without doing an authority search

06:38 rangi yes, if you want to do that, you have 2 options like i told you
06:38 Veera please advice rangi
06:37 Veera just simply enter the author name
06:36 rangi not any better than the manual can im afraid

03:24 rangi oh, not using zebra, thats crazy talk :)
03:24 jcamins ronh3: you should use Zebra.
03:24 ronh3 also not using zebra
03:24 rangi which only came out yesterday
03:24 jcamins Yesterday.
03:24 jcamins Wait.
03:24 jcamins To be released tomorrow, I think.
03:23 jcamins I think it's fixed in 3.2.6.
03:23 jcamins That's 3.2.5.
03:23 jcamins ronh3: no, you're not behind.
03:23 ronh3 using apt-get, and since 3.2 is the latest version...suppose I'm a few behind, heh.
03:23 ronh3 Koha 3.02.05.000, installed from debian packages
03:21 jcamins s/.*/[something coherent]
03:21 * jcamins tries to avoid reading the sentence he just wrote.
03:19 jcamins And, how did you install it?
03:18 jcamins What version of Koha?
03:18 jcamins ronh3: I vaguelly recall seeing a bug about date pickers in the labels module.
03:17 * rangi is a developer so doesnt do that, but the libraries i support all buy them preprinted
03:15 ronh3 Do you print barcodes another way? Or bother with printing them at all?
03:14 rangi ahh ive never used the labels functions im afraid
03:13 ronh3 h by say, title.
03:13 ronh3 Had a quick question I'm hoping someone might have some insight to. I've managed to successfully install koha and import my library's current catalog to it. I'm now experimenting and attempting to print labels for books. When attempting to create a new batch, I'm unable to search by date added (can't select the calendar, and when typing in the date it just returns a blank search screen). Further, no checkmarks show up after performing a searc
02:05 rangi :)
01:49 jcamins Glad to be of help. And avoiding my midterm is a plus, too. ;)
