11:46 jwagner Well, that's the important part :-)
11:46 jwagner Have a good safe trip
11:46 cait thank you :)
11:47 cait ok, leaving to nz - see you all soon, online or real :)

12:09 kmkale hi all
12:10 slef hi kmkale
12:10 kmkale hi slef
12:10 slef Anyone know if NZ has nasty insects? Not in my guide book either way.
12:11 braedon not really, apart from mozzies :P
12:11 braedon we do have a few white tail spiders, but not particularly common
12:12 slef mozzies now? If so, I'll bring DEET
12:12 slef evil but effective
12:12 braedon not many mozzies atm, too early
12:12 braedon not sure what their populations are like in welly...
12:13 slef I hoped they might have missed NZ :)
12:13 braedon alas, no
12:13 slef thanks for the info
12:13 braedon no probs
12:14 kmkale need some help in understanding /usr/share/koha/bin/cronjobs/overdue_notices.pl -itemscontent & <<items.content>> placeholder
12:16 kmkale do I put the <<items.content>> placeholder in the notice text & then give a comma separated list of fields while invoking like overdue_notices.pl -itemscontent biblioitems.biblioitemnumber,biblioitems.itemtype,biblio.title,biblio.author ??
12:19 jwagner kmkale, yes, I think that's the way to do it. On the crontab line, but the fields in the order you want them to show.
12:20 jwagner s/but/put/
12:21 kmkale jwagner: So in the notice template its just the <<items.content>> NOT the fields themselves. Right?
12:23 jwagner Yes, I think so.
12:25 kmkale OK got it. Its just without the tabel name prefixes. i.e. just biblioitemnumber
12:29 kmkale Can I put html in the notice template?
12:30 owen I doubt it kmkale
12:31 owen The notices system would have to be specifically set up to send the right kind of content and I don't think it is
12:31 kmkale :)
12:31 jwagner We've not had any luck trying to put html codes in the notice text itself, like trying to bold something.
12:31 kmkale The items info wont align.
12:31 kmkale so thought I should just ask ;)
12:32 kmkale I guess we will have to set it up as html mail first?
12:39 David How would I change languages for Koha?
12:42 hdl ./translate install list_of_languages
12:42 hdl install languages
12:42 hdl And then you can get to language system preferences
12:42 David where do I find ./translate?
12:45 owen David: That's at the command line
12:46 David owen, but where is the "translate" command located? Like which directory? I'm in /koha/misc/translator but I don't see it in there.
12:48 hdl misc/translator
12:48 hdl David which version are you working on ?
12:53 David Koha version: 3.00.06.010
12:57 hdl David in that case, use install-code.pl language
12:57 hdl and not translate
12:57 hdl (translate is shipped with 3.2)
12:57 David :-/ Maybe I should look into using 3.2 Is there an easy upgrade script or is it manually done?
12:58 David When I run ./install-code.pl fr for example, I get nothing back on the command line, but I also don't get have french as a language in the admin settings
12:58 hdl install-code.pl fr-FR
12:58 hdl Not install-code.pl fr
12:59 David ah, so what would it be for am?
13:00 David So I'm guessing I need to upgrade if I get this back?:
13:00 David fr-FR-i-opac-t-prog-v-3000000.po : opac ../../koha-tmpl/opac-tmpl/prog/en/: Input must be a file or directory. (Symbolic links are not supported at the moment)
13:14 schuster jwagner got a moment?
13:15 jwagner yep
13:27 magnus hiya #koha - checking in from LHN...
13:29 jwagner Hi magnus -- hope you have a good flight!
13:31 magnus thanks, jwagner - very ok so far, but this is where the heavy stuff starts...
13:31 jwagner Maybe I'll get to visit Australia & New Zealand when I retire & can take a ship across the Pacific. I don't really think I could manage 16-18 hours in a plane....
13:36 magnus yeah, lots of time and a boat would have been nice, but LAX-AKL is "only" 12 hours...
13:37 jwagner And DC to LAX is another 6-7...
13:38 magnus yeah, but you could ride a motorbike or something... ;-)
13:41 jwagner No thanks. I don't do motorbikes....
13:42 magnus ride a horse, then? ;-)
13:43 jwagner Trains. Now if only we had a nice efficient national train system like Europe does.
13:46 jcamins Good morning, #koha
13:52 magnus g'day jcamins
13:53 jcamins magnus: when's your next flight?
13:55 magnus 16.15 england time
13:55 jcamins Which is in... 5 minutes?
13:55 jcamins no, 1:05?
13:56 magnus hope so... ;-)
13:56 magnus yeah
13:57 magnus guess i better find find my gate - have fun, #koha!
14:18 jcamins I guess #koha is going to be very quiet in the morning, now, since everyone is in NZ.
14:20 owen And we're going to miss most of the fun unless we stay on after work hours
14:20 jcamins If anyone's here, any comments on the idea of having Edit Items automatically edit the first item, rather than bringing up an add item screen?
14:20 jcamins "Work hours"?
14:21 * jcamins thinks he may have heard that term before, but he's not really sure what it means...
14:21 sekjal jcamins: it would make sense to automatically edit the first item. would save a click for all the times where there is only one time per biblio
14:22 jcamins Yeah, that's what I thought.
14:22 owen What if someone really did want to add an item?
14:22 jcamins Shouldn't they click "Add Item"?
14:22 jcamins There should also be an "Add New Item" button, and not just a "Save Changes" button.
14:23 owen Depends... How did they get to that page?
14:23 jcamins The way I'm doing it is clicking "Edit"->"Edit Items."
14:23 jcamins And every time I'm surprised by the fact that it doesn't actually edit the item.
14:24 jcamins Well, now I'm getting used to it.
14:24 jcamins Kind of.
14:24 owen jcamins: The trouble is the "edit" button is biblio-level, so how can it tell which item you want to edit?
14:24 jcamins I'd have it default to the first. It doesn't add any additional step if you want to edit the second.
14:25 jcamins (i.e. you still have to click the "Edit" link)
14:28 owen Once you have an item open for editing, there's no way to get to a blank Add form
14:29 jcamins I guess we need another button for "Clear," then.
14:29 owen I wonder if you could add a tab with a blank form
14:30 jcamins Or add an additional row to the table which says "New" instead of "Edit."
14:32 sekjal what about moving the item list a vertical menu on the right, with 'new' being either at the top or bottom (or both)?
14:33 jcamins I think we need to keep the table, since it helps to have all the information visible at once.
14:34 sekjal Or making the Add/Edit form float overtop of the table in a lightbox-kinda deal.
14:35 sekjal with 'Add' and 'Clear' buttons at the top, above the table?
14:38 jcamins That seems reasonable. Well, other than the fact that I don't think I would be able to do that. ;)
14:39 sekjal we've currently got three different views on the item information: the table on the Normal page, the more drawn-out Items tab, and the table on the Edit Items screen
14:46 jcamins I think perhaps my first patch will automatically edit the first one and add "Add New" and "Clear" buttons to the Edit Items screen.
14:46 jcamins Then I/we can refine it.
14:47 owen Why the "clear" button if we have an "add new" button?
14:48 slef 1h down, 31 to go
14:49 jcamins owen: I thought one of your objections was that the fields would be pre-set? "Clear" would be so that you could clear all the fields (essentially go back to the current "Edit items" page).
14:49 nengard holy cow!! i'm packed and checked in!!
14:49 nengard drop the pups off at a friends tonight and then leave first thing tomorrow
14:50 slef nengard: which airline?
14:50 slef airNZ didn't offer us online checkin :-/
14:51 nengard slef - oh - V australia didn't have online checkin either - I'm checked in for my flight to California
14:51 kmkale bye all
14:51 slef nengard: oic
14:51 slef moving again so bbl
14:51 nengard kind of annoying really
14:51 slef V = virgin?
14:52 slef if so, they usually offer it
14:54 owen jcamins: I think the "add new" button is sufficient, since it results in a blank form
14:54 owen I think in general "Clear" buttons are dangerous
14:55 jcamins Okay, "Save Changes," "Clone Item," and "Add New" buttons.
15:06 chris well that sux
15:06 jcamins chris: isn't it kind of early in NZ?
15:07 chris poor olugbenga, after getting an nz visa and buying his tickets, finds out that he has to get a transit visa for australia
15:07 jcamins Oh no!
15:07 chris which they decline, for no reason
15:07 chris well, they give him no reason why they declined it
15:08 jcamins And I guess it can't be appealed?
15:08 jcamins Or, at least, not in time?
15:09 chris yeah, probably not
15:09 chris so he's out 2,500$ and we are out a great presentation ;(
15:10 chris (kohacon mails make my computer beep, thats why im awake)
15:10 chris http://twitter.com/#!/paul_poulain/status/27842489769
15:10 chris its all drama all the time!
15:11 chris nengard: i just double cheked, you dont need a transit visa, you are on the list of countries who can transit without one
15:11 nengard chris - good to know - cause I didn't think I needed one either
15:11 chris i think only brown people do, that seems to be the rule
15:11 chris which fits with australia
15:12 nengard brown?
15:12 chris yeah, australia is pretty good with institutionalised racism
15:13 nengard wow!
15:16 chris i mean that dont say that .. but that the list of countries that need visas does :)
15:16 chris pretty crap that they can block someone who has a visa to visit nz, from getting there .. retarded
15:19 * chris has emailed all the people he can think of, and now will try to go back to sleep
15:19 jcamins "name in ethnic script"?
15:43 slef tunnels ahoj.
15:52 brendan morning
15:52 jcamins Morning.
15:53 Barrc Has anyone else noticed a "Term Highlighting" problem in 3.2? I know there is a bug reported for the results screen (turn of XSLDisplay shows hightlights) but the problem I am seeing is also in the detail screen
15:54 owen We don't have term highlighting on the detail page
15:54 jcamins Barrc: what owen said.
15:54 Barrc Ah, that would be the problem then!
15:55 Barrc Has this been feature requeted....is there major issues with doing it?
15:55 owen Barrc: The issue at the moment is that Koha doesn't remember your search terms on the detail page
15:56 Barrc OK, that makes sense. I might take a look at adding it myself, time permitting
15:58 owen Barrc: See also Bug 3075
15:58 munin 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=3075 minor, P5, ---, gmcharlt, NEW, return to search results on detail page
15:58 owen The two issues might be solved in tandem
16:02 Barrc looks reasonable handy.....session id's could be the way.......
16:03 owen Barrc: Also look at the "search history" feature
16:04 owen ( I guess that's mentioned in the bug report )
16:04 owen and note bug 4029
16:04 munin 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=4029 normal, P5, ---, matthias.meusburger, NEW, OPAC search history doesn't correctly store advanced searches
16:05 Barrc Right....plenty there to confuse me for a while!
16:38 Nate Hello #koha!
16:38 brendan hi nate
16:45 * jcamins thinks Nate may be having some trouble with his internet connection.
16:47 brendan heya - I think he's trying new toys out
17:30 nengard it's so quiet in here - is everyone on a plane?
17:30 brendan boo
17:30 nengard what new toys does Nate have??
17:33 brendan @wunder 93117
17:33 munin brendan: The current temperature in Northwest Goleta, Goleta, California is 15.8C (10:40 AM PDT on October 19, 2010). Conditions: Rain. Humidity: 92%. Dew Point: 14.0C. Pressure: 29.94 in 1013.8 hPa (Rising).
17:35 schuster yes it is going to be quiet here until Koha-Con starts I am afraid... we will all have to comizzerate...
17:35 brendan heya schuster
17:35 nengard schuster - i'll be on a plane tomorrow, just wondering where everyone is today
17:47 schuster Paul, Plane - cait - Plane -
17:48 schuster wizzyrea - there... jealous...
17:48 jcamins slef - leaving for the plane
17:48 * chris_n thinks the better part of koha devs are up in the air for the next day or so :)
17:48 schuster 26 for the developer conference part... cool... now I REALLY wish I was going to be there.
17:49 schuster chris_n are you getting to go?
17:49 * chris_n wishes :-(
17:49 schuster same here... just couldn't justify almost 2 full weeks - travel recovery fun weekend etc...
17:50 schuster My employer wouldn't have understood the Sat/Sunday sight seeing part and I would have had to pay for that, but then my Wife wouldn't understand it when she was here with the 2 boys...
17:57 owen All the Koha devs are required to take *separate* planes to prevent a crisis in the event of a crash
17:58 nengard owen, sekjal and I are on the same one ... uh oh :)
17:59 jcamins owen: good!
17:59 jcamins Fortunately chris already lives in NZ.
17:59 jcamins Of course, he takes a bus every day!-
18:03 Sharon wizzyrea happens to work for a very understanding big boss - he let her and her husband leave for 3 weeks
18:07 jcamins Does Mr. wizzyrea also work for the library?
18:07 jcamins I hadn't realized that.
18:18 owen speak of the devil
18:19 wizzyre-1 whoa
18:19 wizzyre-1 am I the devil?
18:19 jcamins wizzyre-1: Sharon was talking about you, at least.
18:19 wizzyre-1 ah
18:20 jcamins I was talking about Mr. wizzyrea, saying I hadn't realized he worked for the library, too.
18:20 Sharon yep, i get them both...in the same office ;-)
18:22 jcamins wizzyre-1: how's NZ?
18:23 wizzyre-1 beautiful, fragrant, and wonderful. :)
18:23 * jcamins wishes he got to go to NZ this year
18:26 * owen wants to buy his ticket for KohaCon 2011 now
18:26 * jcamins wants KohaCon 2011 to be somewhere he can get to, now.
18:27 Sharon France?
18:28 owen We've got slef in England, paul_p et al in France, magnus in Norway, cait in Germany
18:28 owen Lots of good choices
18:29 nengard i vote england :)
18:30 jcamins I vote somewhere within easy reach of Oxford.
18:30 jcamins Or Saint Petersburg (Russia).
18:30 jcamins :)
18:30 collum A central location for these folks would be Amsterdam.
18:30 owen nengard: Sure, you've already visited magnus haven't you?
18:30 nengard I have
18:30 collum Oooh. Saint Petersburg. Would be nice.
18:31 * owen has been to France and Germany but never England or Norway
18:31 nengard never been to france or germany - except airports
18:31 Sharon pick someplace with direct flights
18:31 Sharon Frankfurt?
18:32 collum Been to Germany on the military plan. It was gorgeous.
18:32 jcamins Sharon: isn't that one of the appeals of Amsterdam?
18:32 owen I'd definitely pick Amsterdam over Frankfurt... but who's in Amsterdam to host us?
18:32 Sharon That and the Heinie museum
18:32 Sharon and Bob's youth hostel...I'd have to visit it for old time's sake. God bless Amsterdam
18:32 * wizzyre-1 imagines the heinie museum, giggles
18:33 * wizzyre-1 then realizes it's *beer*, not butts.
18:33 Sharon those would be over in the wax museum
18:33 * jcamins thought that was a name
18:34 Sharon i can't spell Heinekin Heiniken
18:35 Sharon beer, green bottle, yummie...
18:35 owen Heineken
18:36 Sharon see
18:36 owen Firefox's spell checker knows it, whaddaya know.
18:39 jcamins You know, I never realized that Heineken was a Dutch brand.
18:40 Sharon the brewery tour is a hoot...they knew we were only on it for the free beer at the end
18:41 jcamins I went on a tour of the Whiskey museum in Edinburgh. Turns out I don't like whiskey.
18:43 sekjal from what I recall, Frankfurt is comparatively inexpensive to get international flights into.
18:43 jcamins It was a perfectly fine museum, but it did make the whole thing seem rather... pointless. ;)
18:43 jcamins For those of us in the States, there's Iceland Air.
18:43 Sharon is there a koha library in heidelberg
18:44 Sharon not far from frankfurt and much nicer place to visit
18:44 jcamins Ooh, I bet there are printing museums in Heidelberg!
18:45 jcamins Frankfurt has more direct flights, apparently.
18:45 jcamins I guess JFK is a KLM hub.
18:45 jcamins I didn't realize that. I just thought that there were lots of direct flights to Amsterdam.
18:47 Sharon I took KLM to London, nice airline...but flew home out of Frankfurt
18:48 jcamins I flew from Edinburgh to NYC (and back, and forth, and back, and forth) with KLM.
18:49 jcamins Always the same flight, too... the flight attendant recognized me the last time.
18:50 Sharon fun
18:54 collum nengard still around?
18:54 nengard kinda :)
18:54 collum I signed up for you survey but never recieved an email.
18:55 collum Should I sign up again with another address?
19:06 nengard hmmm - having problems with that darn thing ... grrr
19:07 nengard i thought letting people sign up and save would be helpful
19:07 nengard others have gotten their emails - let me find yours
19:16 jcamins My library school has the highest average full-time salary for graduates who reported their salary in 2009.
19:17 jcamins In another example of "let's play with statistics to make the job market sound good," they ignore the fact that only 2/3 of the people who got jobs reported their salaries, and only a small percentage of graduates got jobs.
19:18 richard hi
19:18 chris Olugbenga is officially my hero
19:18 jcamins chris: did he manage to get the transit visa?
19:18 slef chris?
19:18 chris He is now trying to organise to go via hk
19:18 chris At considerable extra expense
19:19 slef wow... bbl
19:20 chris So soon as I get to my desk I have to try the cheapest way for him to get from akl to wlg
19:20 chris And the cheapest accomodation
19:20 chris That's commitment ... when I say considerable its in the order of 5k
19:24 chris He sure as hell won't be paying for any of his meals when he is hear if I have anything to do with it
19:24 chris Here even
19:27 chris Stupid australia
19:32 brendan heh blame australia
19:33 chris Transit visa is bogus, just don't let ppl leave the terminal
19:33 reva Hi anyone, my 505 (Contents note) field is not showing in OPAC in the description tab. It shows fine in the description tab in staff side. What should I turn on to have it display the 505 contents note field? Thanks for any help.
19:34 chris My stop bbiab
19:35 ronald why QueryAutoTruncate search not working? i need other permission
19:37 ronald if i use har* (harry) not working QueryAutoTruncate
19:37 jcamins ronald: what version of Koha are you on?
19:38 ronald 3.0.2
19:38 ronald 3.0.2
19:38 ronald 3.0.2
19:38 jcamins Hm. That's quite an old version.
19:38 ronald so? not working QueryAutoTruncate?
19:39 reva Can anyone help me with the 505 field not displaying in OPAC description tab?
19:39 jcamins I have no idea. I use Koha 3.2, and never tried using 3.0.2.
19:40 jcamins ronald: according to the documentation, you shouldn't use an asterisk if you have QueryAutoTruncate enabled.
19:41 ronald yes i do...
19:41 ronald i use...example har*
19:41 ronald for search harry
19:41 ronald but not working
19:41 jcamins ronald: do you have QueryAutoTruncate turned on?
19:43 ronald yes
19:43 jcamins Okay.
19:43 jcamins Try searching for "har" (without an asterisk).
19:43 collum nengard: OK. Sorry I had to step away for a few minutes.
19:43 ronald ok
19:43 nengard np - will get to it when i'm done with work - trying to do a migration :)
19:46 chris back
19:47 ronald not working
19:47 chris are you using zebra
19:47 chris ?
19:47 ronald who?
19:47 ronald me?
19:48 chris yes
19:48 reva which tables do I tie the 505 $t and $g to, to have it display in OPAC (under the description tab)? Please anyone?
19:48 ronald yes
19:48 ronald i use zebra
19:49 ronald whit zebra QueryAutoTruncate not work¿?
19:49 nengard collum sent a reminder email - let me know if you get it
19:50 chris ronald: i works in the versions ive used, maybe you might need to upgrade to 3.0.6 ?
19:51 ronald but whit 3.0.2 not?
19:51 collum nengard: Got it. Thanks.
19:51 chris ronald: i thought it did, i dont have a 3.0.2 to test though
19:54 ronald chirs in 3.0.6 work good?
19:57 chris as far as i know yes
19:58 jcamins ronald: you have records in your system that include the word "harry," right?
19:59 ronald yes,
20:01 reva Hi, what should I do to have the 505 $g and $t to show in OPAC description tab? I would appreciate some help. Right now, it is not associated with any table (such biblio.note). But it shows in the staff side description tab.
20:02 Brendan-O @wunder 93117
20:02 munin Brendan-O: The current temperature in Northwest Goleta, Goleta, California is 17.8C (1:11 PM PDT on October 19, 2010). Conditions: Thunderstorm. Humidity: 85%. Dew Point: 15.0C. Pressure: 29.94 in 1013.8 hPa (Falling).
20:02 Brendan-O Thunderstorm - haven't had one in two years
20:03 * Brendan-O which one am I
20:04 Brendan-O heh - guess I lost power at home - there goes brendan_l
20:04 jcamins reva: I don't think anything other than 505$a is displayed.
20:05 reva Why is that jcamins? I mean I would like it to display the table of contents to the user without them having to go to the MARC display?
20:05 jcamins Because no one added that feature.
20:06 reva Is it not available in the 3.2 either?
20:06 jcamins Not yet, no.
20:07 jcamins I think I recall someone talking about adding it, but I don't think anyone has yet.
20:09 chris_n reva: we display 505$t in our opac
20:10 reva Also I came across a strange problem the other day: I input a rather long 245a title. It would not let me save it unless I input something in 245b. (We do have perfectly good records where we do not have the remainder of the title.) I imported it from Columbia University Z39.50 search. ISBN: 9766001464.
20:11 reva chris_n what version are you using. Mine is 3.0.6
20:11 chris_n but I had to mod it up
20:11 reva what is mod it up, chris_n?
20:11 chris_n 3.2.rc
20:12 chris_n om
20:14 reva chris_n, I do not know what mod it up is. Also please try importing the record from Columbia through z39.50. Try saving it and see if it complains "at least one 245 subfield must be filled." I had to go into $b and input a space before it will let me save it.
20:15 chris_n sorry reva, I'm about to leave and so don't have time for that today, however, see this link for the modifications we're running to show 505$t:
20:15 chris_n http://git.koha-community.org/gitweb/?p=wip/koha-fbc.git;a=blob;f=koha-tmpl/opac-tmpl/prog/en/modules/opac-detail.tmpl;h=1244423d44556aedb53e8ebd85533951a92f1677;hb=2563bdfbf261d348652dcb0108dbe1b34de93b22#l505
20:16 chris_n sorry for the long url
20:16 jcamins reva: "mod it up" means that chris_n had to write the code to display the 505 himself.
20:16 jcamins As for importing the record from Columbia, I really don't have time, sorry.
20:17 chris_n bbl
20:18 reva ok. I guess someone will have to learn that here. I have given the ISBN for the record that could not be saved without 245$b above. Please tyr out and see if it is a bug. As you can see the title is unusually long. Maybe that is why.
20:19 reva I do not mean today, sometime as you might want to know if it is some idiosyncracy in the imported record itself or a bug.
20:20 reva Thanks to both of you jcamins and chris_n.
20:23 chris http://twitter.com/paul_poulain/status/27846304710

20:29 chris thanks
20:29 chris my phonetic french spelling :)
20:29 jcamins Unless you were thinking of Catalan, in which case that might be right.
20:30 jcamins No, "very" in Catalan is "molt."
20:32 chris :)
20:35 chris heya Nate
20:36 chris how many hours to go ?

20:40 chris sweet :)
20:41 jcamins chris: but did he manage it?
20:41 Brendan-O can't wait chris - really excited to meet little girl
20:41 chris jcamins: he probably did :)
20:43 jcamins Excellent! Your son is already discovering heretofore unlooked-for talents. :)
20:46 jcamins And with that, I'm closing up shop for the day.
20:46 jcamins Good night, #koha.
23:24 cait hi #koha

23:25 cait I am staying overnight in london
23:25 cait flight from zürich to london was delayed so I missed my flight zu sydney :(

23:26 cait they booked me on the same flight - but one day later

23:27 cait hoped that jo would be online, but can write her an email
23:27 cait perhaps it would be good to call the hotel?
23:27 chris yes, cant hurt
23:56 cait oh, can you tell magnus if you see him?
23:56 cait I was supposed to meet him at the hotel
23:57 chris i will do
