00:53 * chris_n waves to Wizzyrea2 as she flies by
01:00 * Braedon has an answer for wizzyrea2 should she return
01:01 jcamins_a How do you change the word "cart" to "shelf" everywhere in the OPAC?
01:01 jcamins_a I'm pretty sure I recall someone doing that.
01:02 jcamins Braedon: just 'cause I'm curious, what's your answer for Wizzyrea2?
01:03 Braedon_m Andchat
01:03 jcamins If I had an Android device, I would definitely take advantage of this new knowledge I now have.
01:04 Braedon_m :p
01:05 jcamins Okay, does anyone happen to know how I would get ptfs/Bug3719?
01:06 jcamins I think the PTFS Harley Integration page could do with some more explanations. :(
01:08 jcamins Okay, I think maybe I see. There's a repository at git://git.koha-community.org/wip/koha-ptfs.git
01:18 usa-jp Hello fellow Kohaners
01:19 Braedon we prefer the term 'Kohanauts'
01:20 usa-jp lol ...np Braedon
01:20 Braedon :)
01:20 usa-jp recently I had occassion to use the Patron Import feature in Koha 3.02
01:20 usa-jp to import 151 students into the system
01:20 usa-jp from a csv file
01:21 usa-jp I used the starter dsv file and
01:21 usa-jp set up my spreadhseet to import ...Koha kept complaining
01:21 usa-jp Header row could not be parsed ....
01:21 usa-jp then fixed that ....and got a different error
01:22 usa-jp I have NO clue on what Koha is expecting for field type I mean which one should have quotes for text and numbers only
01:22 usa-jp still could NOT get it to import so I ended up adding all 151 by hand
01:22 jcamins usa-jp: is there a reason you are using such an old version of Koha? The current stable version of Koha is 3.0.6, and a lot of people are now using the 3.2 beta in production.
01:23 usa-jp Ithe errors other than the header row were that the branch code and category code were problems
01:23 usa-jp I started with 3.02 and then upgraded to 3.06 but Kha still shows 3.02
01:23 jcamins Hm.
01:24 jcamins That means the upgrade didn't work.
01:24 jcamins I've never used 3.0.x, so I can't really advise on that, unfortunately.
01:24 usa-jp it ran without errors
01:24 jcamins Actually, I've also never done anything with patrons (other than adding them one at a time), so I couldn't really help with that, either. :(
01:25 usa-jp jcamins ... grin thanks for chiming in your 2 cents
01:25 jcamins I was hoping there might be an easy solution of upgrading to the latest version.
01:25 usa-jp me too
01:26 jcamins Wait, I have an idea what might be wrong...
01:26 usa-jp that'd be nice ...my box is Debian "Lenny"
01:26 jcamins when you upgraded, did it go through the database update script?
01:26 usa-jp I can't remember
01:28 jcamins I'm going to guess what happened is that for some reason it didn't run.
01:28 jcamins I'm trying to find out what script that is.
01:28 usa-jp I don't have a test system anymore and I'm kinda leery of upgrading or messing around with a production
01:28 jcamins Ah.
01:29 jcamins Well, if you already installed the new version, and it didn't upgrade properly, I think you can anticipate problems in the near future.
01:29 usa-jp but it shouldn't stop me from using the patron import anyway
01:30 usa-jp I do have another koha server that I was going to put into production but I'm not sure how to move the db files over ...I am sure I would have ot do a dump
01:30 jcamins Well, it might... if the database update script didn't run, then the code is expecting to find things in the database that aren't there.
01:30 jcamins But are you sure you have the right branchcode specified?
01:30 usa-jp and then import it into the 3.06 system
01:30 usa-jp I tried the one that was defined ...STHL
01:30 jcamins Okay.
01:31 usa-jp but Koha didn't like it
01:32 jcamins This is a particularly quiet time for #koha, since it's late at night on Friday in the States, and weekend everywhere else. I'd suggest checking back during the week... someone else might have better advice.
01:32 usa-jp hee hee
01:33 usa-jp sounds good .....I'll try next week
01:33 usa-jp thanks for your help ..you all have a great weekend then
01:33 usa-jp I'll chime in for sure next week
01:34 usa-jp and I'll try to remember which nickname you prefer ...Kohanauts :)
01:46 chris_n @later tell owen http://git.koha-community.org/gitweb/?p=wip/koha-fbc.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/heads/RFC822_format
01:46 munin chris_n: The operation succeeded.
01:50 jcamins Argh!
01:50 jcamins Merge conflict.
01:53 chris_n been there... done that... got the tee-shirt... ;-)
01:54 jcamins What I don't understand is that it reported a merge conflict, and then just stopped, without giving me the .orig and .new files to compare.
01:55 chris_n git doesn't work like that
01:55 jcamins But I know it's done that in the past... hasn't it?
01:55 chris_n rather it inserts markers with both revisions in same file
01:55 chris_n ie. <<<<< HEAD
01:55 chris_n   ======
01:55 chris_n and
01:55 jcamins Ohhh.
01:56 chris_n >>>>> patch
01:56 chris_n you edit, fix, git add, git rebase --continue
01:57 chris_n the ugly conflicts are ones that occur in messy template files
01:58 chris_n the layout (or lack thereof) makes them hard to discern what's going on sometimes
01:59 jcamins Well, let's hope that we didn't change the formatting of the Koha header very much between when Harley branched and today, then. ;)
02:00 * chris_n suspects that the Harley branch is quite out of date in a few places at least by now
02:00 * jcamins considers briefly that it might be less trouble to just find-and-replace "cart" with "shelf"
02:00 chris_n but the fact that it was released in a git repo does make merging more plausable
02:01 jcamins Yeah, I know, but if I'm going to be mucking about because the word "cart" offends me, I might as well take advantage of PTFS's work, right?
02:01 chris_n I think only if it is less work to merge than to do-it-yourself
02:01 jcamins Or, at least, try, until I get frustrated, and give up.
02:02 jcamins Okay, yeah, giving up now.
02:03 jcamins Apparently there's a known problem with the patch and it's not commit-able.
02:03 chris_n that's probably a good choice this late on Friday night :-)
02:03 jcamins Heh.
02:04 chris_n ok, hot apple pie and icecream has run out... time to hit the hay
02:04 chris_n cya
02:04 jcamins Have a good night.
02:42 * Braedon has succeeded in planting the Kohanauts seed. May it grow without hindrance
02:42 jcamins Isn't that a video game?
02:42 Braedon scribblenauts is a game
02:43 Braedon there is another *nauts game
02:43 Braedon but i don't believe there is a Kohanauts
02:43 jcamins No, but apparently Kohana uses "Kohanauts" too.
02:44 Braedon ooo, really?
02:44 jcamins Well, 3 times.
02:44 jcamins 21 times!
02:44 jcamins Oh, but they're all in three threads.
02:44 jcamins No, maybe not.
02:45 Braedon :P
02:45 jcamins I don't know. I'm just using Google snippets. ;)
02:45 Braedon don't worry, we shall snatch it from under their very noises
02:46 Braedon psychonauts was the other game i was thinking of
02:46 jcamins That's the one I was thinking of.

15:30 yhager sorry
15:30 yhager Good morning. I am trying to install koha, and when I run 'make test' (as recommended in the INSTALL) tests are failing.
17:11 chris_n [off] once again /me has had enough of PTFS' subversive shinanigans
17:20 yhager_ I am running perl Makefile.PL, and it complains about packages that are not found, while I have newer version thereof
17:20 yhager_   e.g. Warning: prerequisite XML::Simple 2.14 not found.
17:20 yhager_ but when I run cpan XML::Simple, I get XML::Simple is up to date (2.18)
17:44 larsw chris_n, now what?
17:52 yhager what to do if ZOOM fails testing and would not install? do I just force it?
17:53 yhager like here: http://pastebin.com/2111m7iC

20:00 chris the new rfcs from osslabs look good
20:04 chris yhager: yes, you can force ZOOM, but better to install it from a package than cpan anyway, what flavour of linux are you installing on?
