09:17 francharb ;)
10:46 magnus so, i thought i'd have a play with ils-di on my HEAD installation last night, but it seems ils.di.pl looks for a syspref called ILS-DI, which isn't found in my install - is that a bug or a feature?
10:47 magnus ils-di.pl, even
10:51 hdl_laptop magnus: you should ahve them
10:53 magnus hm, i couldn't find it in installer/data/mysql/en/mandatory/sysprefs.sql either: http://git.koha.org/cgi-bin/gitweb.cgi?p=Koha;a=blob;f=installer/data/mysql/en/mandatory/sysprefs.sql;h=3647715bac4655dc9eb6549ceb39b6c2a36493bc;hb=HEAD

11:18 magnus good time of the day, gmcharlt
11:18 gmcharlt indeed it is
11:18 gmcharlt hi hdl_laptop
11:29 kf hi gmcharlt
11:39 kf oh, is pootle down?
11:49 gmcharlt kf: I can't get to it either
11:49 gmcharlt better let chris now
11:50 kf @later chris Hi chris, pootle seems to be down - can you take a look at it?
11:50 munin kf: Error: The "Later" plugin is loaded, but there is no command named "chris" in it. Try "list Later" to see the commands in the "Later" plugin.

13:08 kf @later tell chris Hi chris, pootle seems to be down - can you take a look at it?
13:08 munin kf: The operation succeeded.
13:35 jdavidb Mornin', #koha
13:37 gmcharlt hi jdavidb
13:37 * jdavidb passes out plates of pancakes.
13:37 * jwagner would prefer waffles :-)
13:38 kf suggests to eat jwagners pancaces too ;)
13:40 jwagner Oh, I'll _eat_ the pancakes. I was just expressing a preference :-)
13:41 kf ooh :(
13:41 kf ;)
13:41 nengard jwagner - oo - waffles - I have leftover homemade waffles that I put in the freezer - i think I'll have that for breakfast :)
13:41 jdavidb Today, New Orleans is partying like there is no tomorrow; more serious-minded folk may recall that today is Shrove Tuesday, and eat pancakes.
13:42 * jdavidb makes an extra stack for kf.
13:42 kf yum :)
13:42 jwagner Ah. Missed that connection. How about a meld of cultures and taste buds, and we get French toast instead?
13:42 jdavidb I'm good with that, jwagner. :)
13:42 kf I heard of a script to bulk edit patron message settings - is this alrady available? or has someone the sql ready?
13:43 jdavidb I've done it by hand a couple of times; wouldn't be hard to script, I shouldn't think, kf.
13:43 nengard kf - chris_n submitted it as a 3.4 patch - I think...
13:43 kf I cant and the tables looked a bit complicated
13:43 kf ah
13:44 nengard kf - http://lists.koha.org/pipermail/koha-patches/2010-February/005570.html
13:44 kf cant write a script
13:45 kf nengard: thx!
13:55 paul_p jdavidb++ (for switching to solr, see twitter)
13:55 owen solr over zebra?
13:55 paul_p good morning usa ! ( nengard, jdavidb, jwagner, gmcharlt, chris_n, owen )
13:56 nengard good afternoon france!!
13:56 paul_p owen, solr instead of zebra
13:56 owen Good afternoon Europe!
13:56 nengard      solr++
13:56 jwagner Bonjour paul_p
13:56 nengard zebra--
13:56 nengard :)
13:57 owen I have no love for the quirks of working with Zebra, but damn it sure is better than using MySQL was.
13:58 paul_p owen: the problem with mySQL was the DB scheme at 1st (and the marc_word table), not necessary mySQL itself
13:59 jwagner We have replicating owens!
13:59 owen__ VirtualBox upgrade is making my connection go in and out
13:59 paul_p is human cloning permitted in US ? :D
14:00 jwagner Oh, I was hoping you'd succeeded in cloning yourself. That way we'd have more owens to work on OPAC issues.
14:00 jdavidb Mornin, paul_p; thanks for the karma! :)
14:00 * jwagner just asked jdavidb if using solr meant having to stick silicon panels on top the servers. He said No.
14:00 owen__ Sorry jwagner, I'd put them all to work cleaning my house.
14:01 jwagner owen__, that's a terrible waste of talent! Start training those kids on housework :-)
14:02 owen__ I'll check with jdavidb to see how well that's likely to pan out
14:02 jwagner The cloning, or the silicon panels?
14:02 owen__ The training kids for housework!
14:03 jwagner Ah. Depends on whether you ask jdavidb or the Evil Minion.
14:03 * jdavidb thinks "housework" is what kids are for. His teenager disagrees, but since I pay the rent, and we run on the rules of Twain's "Curious Republic of Gondour", I make the rules.
14:04 gmcharlt hi paul_p
14:04 jdavidb If she can get a job making more than I do, and pays the rent, she can make the rules, and I'll retire n be a house-parent, or move out and get mah own place.
14:13 schuster Don't shoot me about the Kids Catalog post I just did to the lists, just exploring options!
14:14 schuster Trying to open doors - librarians as collaborators... ;)
14:15 owen__ I don't want to shoot you schuster but I do want to shoot that TLC kids catalog. Awful, awful awful.
14:16 owen You have to click a link that says "type search," type something to search for, and then click another button to choose what kind of search?
14:16 owen I don't know why anyone would think that's kid-friendly.
14:16 schuster Well yes I agree on the awfulness of it, but it serves a purpose.
14:16 jdavidb Schuster: SD Unicorn/Symphony has something kinda like that--public library example: http://alc.alc.org/uhtbin/cgisirsi.exe/0/APL-MAIN/0/1/774/X/BLASTOFF
14:17 schuster yes thank you jdavidb - I just pulled a couple off the top of my head - we had that with Horizon and our librarians in the elementary like it as those kids can't spell or type yet.
14:17 jdavidb Their method not-very-cleverly links the pic icons to bald keyword searches.
14:18 jdavidb Follett Destiny has something like that too, and LRC specialists at each campus can build new ones for their campus, based on what the teachers are doin'. Very nifty.
14:19 schuster What we had was a bit more of a drill down that had keyword searches to it, but it also limited to the location of the student.
14:20 schuster I don't know that I want to get that far as campus level builds, but I would love to have at least a basic one for k-3 curriculum and general interest needs.
14:20 jdavidb I would think a Koha implementation should be easy enough to limit-by-location, and possibly also limit-by-anything-Zebra-can-do.
14:20 schuster I would expect that an admin such as myself could edit it add/remove change stuff.
14:20 jdavidb Right; the campus-level adminning of it would be nice, but that would be hairy to set up.
14:21 schuster The trick is a generic template that all 47 locations use, and getting the location dynamically without loging in.
14:21 Nate Good Morning schuster, jdavidb, owen, gmcharlt, jwagner, and everyone else!
14:21 jdavidb Hi, Nate. :)
14:21 schuster I was talking with Owen just last week about this...
14:22 Nate What are everyone's feelings about press releases being posted on the new koha-community.org site?
14:22 jdavidb schuster: such a construct might be useful in the public-library context, as well, for serving folks with text-cognitive problems (find the music you like?) or visually impaired, with *big* icons.
14:24 schuster Funny story... While working with CODI(customers of Dynix Inc users group) someone from a corporate library stood up and said they loved kids catalog.
14:25 jdavidb One of Owen's clones should be able to hack that up right quick, schuster, once you get him interested in the idea. ;-)
14:25 schuster They had changed all the icons to different LAW topics that did searches then for their Lawyers as they didn't know where to start.
14:25 jdavidb Brilliant!
14:25 * jdavidb tries to imagine jwagner using that at NASA, back-when. Yeah, a couple of neat ideas there..
14:26 schuster Yes I was looking to possibly subcontract some of the backend work to Owen once we had a proof of concept and what I wanted it to do... With the evergreen thing though it may get delayed a little.
14:26 jwagner We did use some pre-defined searches on various technical subject areas at NASA. But I scorn cute icons!
14:26 schuster I'm going to write up my needs and send them to the Evergreen folks for consideration and to Owen to ponder.
14:27 schuster One does what the user needs... ;)
14:27 jdavidb jwagner: I was thinking of mission icons to pull stuff based on that mission, for instance. Or planet icons for planetary-science info.
14:28 jwagner Nope. Good old text was enuf for the serious research types at NASA :-)
14:29 * jdavidb groans, remembering meetings of ALC's public-services committee, when 5 heads of public services/reference would bicker over the tiniest details of the catalog appearance.
14:29 chris_n Nate: I don't have a problem with it... they are posted on koha.org so why not koha-community.org as well
14:29 jwagner Mind you, some of them probably could have USED the cute little icons. There appears to be an inverse relationship in some people between intellectual ability and real-world functional skills.
14:31 jdavidb *nod.* I know some brilliant engineers of several sorts, who have trouble in very simple social situations. Come to think of it, I have trouble with simple social situations, and I'm *not* a brilliant engineer.
14:32 Nate Thanks chris_n. I think we are going to actually hold off on posting on the new site for now and maybe we will bring it up at the next IRC meeting and see what the general consensus is.
14:32 jwagner We had a _LOT_ of world-class talent; it was humbling to be working around these folks. But some of them needed crossing guards to get across the street!
14:34 chris_n Nate: you could also run an opinion post by the list as well
14:34 Nate good call! will do
14:35 nengard chris_n Nate my suggestion is a category for Press and then a link to Press at the top so that the press doesn't overwhelm the rest of the content on the site - which I'll say on list if it appears there :)
14:35 chris_n nengard: good idea
14:36 chris_n perhaps we could also have the most recent post highlighted in a small section in the right-hand sidebar
14:37 schuster Feed press releases to Marshall Breeding as well - great exposure to the library community there.
14:48 collum My contention with kid's catalogs is that you click on 16 icons to get to a screen
14:48 collum that says your item is at the Collin Creek location, Juvenile Non-Fiction, J597.45 Foo, Available
14:48 collum There's got to be a better way to express availability.
14:48 jdavidb change the "available" to a thumbs-up icon, anything else to thumbs-down?
14:49 jdavidb (or cooler yet--sort on availability, so available items bubble to the top!)
14:50 collum I'm thinking RFID tags with GPS. :)
14:50 jdavidb I was hacking on something with SD's to highlight a map of the library with the right range, as well as showing the call number, when I left there.
14:52 collum Yep. That would be nice for kids and adults.
14:53 jdavidb The "you are here" part is what had me stumped, without using named-workstations, how to tell which OPAC they're on, or even if they're inside the library or not. We wanted this business to work on the iphone doodad I was also tinkering with at the time.
14:59 hdl_laptop gmcharlt: am I right to think that clay uploaded the tarball on download.koha.org ?
15:00 gmcharlt hdl_laptop: which tarball? 3.2 alpha is up
15:00 hdl_laptop yes
15:00 hdl_laptop I wanted to check taht out since I mostly use git
15:06 biglego morning everyone
15:08 gmcharlt hdl_laptop: the bugfixes we discussed a few days ago - are they ready for me to pull?
15:09 hdl_laptop still working on them
15:09 gmcharlt ok
15:10 hdl_laptop shoudl be ok tomorrow
15:10 hdl_laptop or by the end of the week
15:10 biglego PDF::API2::Simple is giving me fits trying to install won't force any ideas?
15:11 biglego ubuntu 9.10 installing via git
15:12 chris_n biglego: I seem to remember issues with that module
15:13 chris_n maybe cd into the source directory and do 'perl Makefile.PL && make && make test' to see more clues as to what's wrong
15:14 biglego sudo perl ./Makefile.PL
15:14 biglego Can't locate inc/Module/Install.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /etc/perl /usr/local/lib/perl/5.10.0 /usr/local/share/perl/5.10.0 /usr/lib/perl5 /usr/share/perl5 /usr/lib/perl/5.10 /usr/share/perl/5.10 /usr/local/lib/site_perl .) at ./Makefile.PL line 1.
15:14 biglego BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at ./Makefile.PL line 1.
15:14 biglego koha@ubuntu:~/PDF-API2-Simple-1.1.4$
15:24 schuster I had to do the cpan MODULE::Install - to get the rest of it to work I believe.
15:25 gmcharlt biglego: schuster has it
15:27 schuster AMAZING I actually had the answer to a technical question! Only because I lived it.
15:29 gmcharlt schuster: thus do you gain true knowledge, grasshopper
15:29 jwagner      schuster++
15:33 biglego cool thanks schuster that worked
15:40 schuster @Bug 4146 - so to get these into the documentation for 3.2 - I should edit the INSTALL.debian-lenny document and send a patch? or has someone already done this? I see Liz put in a couple of bugs but they were Ubuntu? @bug 4151

16:08 kf gmcharlt: just saw your mail about thesauruses - would 'including the thesaurus in the bib headings indexes' mean that you could search for see also / see references without using authority search?
16:09 gmcharlt kf: not as such
16:09 gmcharlt including the thesarus when indexing bib headings would make it possible to do a headings browse that didn't *require* authority records

16:31 Ropuch Having terminal filled with red instead of green was refreshing ;>
16:35 schuster So tonight I want to get all the patches to my "test" 3.2 instance - so all I have to do is cd to the kohaclone directory and do git pull and it will update... Just checking.
16:35 gmcharlt yep
16:36 schuster when is it necessary to do the rebase ?
16:37 gmcharlt just do; cd kohaclone; git fetch; git rebase origin
16:38 schuster then skip the git pull? or still do that? because the fetch will update everything already right?

16:57 jwagner Hope someone is on who understands authority records in Koha. One of my people is saying that when editing an authority record the system says it can't save because field 942 (Koha auth type) is empty. I need to get more info from the user, but is there a configuration change that should be done?
16:58 jwagner It looks like that 942 setting in the authority record refers to the type of authority it is -- PERSO_NAME, UNIF_TITLE, etc. Is that correct?
16:58 kf my first thought too
17:00 jwagner The one authority record she referenced seemed to have the UNIF_TITLE in it; not sure if she added it or it got added automatically. As I said, I need to get more info from her.
17:03 kf time to catch my bus - bye #koha, bbl
17:04 gmcharlt jwagner: 942$a indeed stores the authority type
17:05 jwagner And those are the entries under Home Administration Authority Types ?
17:05 jwagner If someone is editing or hand-creating an authority record, they need to fill in the codes from that page?
17:08 gmcharlt no, shouldn't have to - unless they added a new authority framework or did something screwey, Koha hands the 942$a transparently
17:08 jwagner It seemed like it SHOULD do that anyway. Have to figure out exactly what she did & see if I can reproduce it. But at least I'm on the right track.

18:39 nengard got a serials question
18:40 nengard how do i print a routing list?
18:40 jwagner nengard, I don't think you can.
18:40 nengard you used to be able to
18:40 nengard if youcan't print it then how do you get the routing list when you receive a serial?
18:47 cabillman sekjal: were you able to resolve your issue? I had the same problem until I fixed my sites-enabled/koha
18:47 cabillman I have no idea why it stopped working for me either...
18:47 jwagner nengard, my bad, you can print a routing slip under the older code (we're running .061) by editing a routing slip, adding or deleting someone, then saving. Then there's the option to Preview Routing Slip which allows you to print it. That's not present in the 3.2 code?
18:48 nengard jwagner - nope - seems to have gone away
18:48 nengard chris - you did some serials patches - did you remove it for a reason?
18:49 nengard OH WAIT - I FOUND IT
18:49 nengard but I have a bone to pick with the design which needs work so that searching for a print button isn't so hard
18:51 jwagner nengard, I just tried it on a 3.2 setup and in .061. In .061, when you clicked to add someone, it did the lookup and then added it back in the original screen. In 3.2 it seems to do the lookup and add it in the new popup screen; if you close that one you lose the add.
18:52 jwagner If you select from the list of patrons that the 3.2 screen presents, it works OK, but not if you search for a patron.
18:53 jwagner I think there should be a nice simple "print routing list" link on the sidebar menu to begin with.
18:53 jdavidb *simple*, jwagner? you're in the wrong business.
18:54 * jdavidb just heard his father's voice in his head, saying, "If you want simple, go work at McDonalds."

18:56 jdavidb yis!
18:57 * jwagner hands jdavidb an order of fries
18:57 jwagner nengard, can you replicate the problem I had with searching for a patron to add? You're on a more up-to-date 3.2 version than I am.
18:58 jwagner If so, there needs to be a bug report on it (if there isn't one already)
18:58 nengard jwagner - was writing up bug 4199 -- will test now

18:59 nengard jwagner - yes it is a bug - a big one :(

20:00 chris_n Jo even
20:00 chris sekjal: and it might be worth upping the max connections available in apache
20:04 sekjal access.log is empty
20:04 sekjal currently running 100 connections, which is the default max, as I recall
20:04 chris what about the 2 koha access logs?
20:04 sekjal should consider upping that, yes
20:05 sekjal chris: I think I checked those, but I'm a little fuzzy right now. ::eats::
20:05 chris (if the transferlog line is commented out in your koha-httpd.conf consider uncommenting them)
20:07 * chris_n accidentally spams himself with overdue notices
20:14 chris_n can anyone confirm that the Check Out link on circulation-home.pl is incorrect?
20:14 chris_n latest HEAD, I should add
20:14 chris ill look
20:15 gmcharlt gadzooks
20:16 chris seems ok here
20:16 chris_n chris: so a blank page with only the checkout in the header is what is expected?
20:16 gmcharlt just slightly confusing, perhaps, need to look up to scan the patorn barcode in global search box
20:16 chris yeah
20:17 * chris_n agrees...
20:17 chris_n < This page intentionally left blank. >
20:17 gmcharlt chris_n: and since when did you start working for Big Blue?
20:17 gmcharlt ;)
20:17 chris_n lol
20:19 chris_n is it typical to not send overdue notices to library staff?
20:19 chris it is for a lot of libraries
20:19 schuster chris can you expound on what this means? (if the transferlog line is commented out in your koha-httpd.conf consider uncommenting them)
20:19 owen-away The staff are the worst! They've all got overdues, myself included.
20:19 sekjal is it normal to take 22 minutes to check the sessions table in the koha db? that strikes me as excessive
20:20 chris that is totally excessive
20:20 chris it should be in the order of milliseconds
20:20 chris_n ouch
20:20 schuster means you have a VERY large Sessions table - which starts to slow down response times.
20:20 chris how many rows are in the sessions table?
20:20 chris_n time to truncate
20:20 sekjal could count them in a timely fashion, my fellow technician reported
20:20 schuster I believe jdavidb has done a patch to be built as a cron to fix that in the future.
20:21 chris_n owen: so you all do not send notices to staff?
20:21 sekjal s/could/couldn't/
20:21 chris right
20:21 schuster chris in my production system the transferlog line is commented out in 3.0
20:21 chris what i would do, (because a truncate will take ages)
20:21 owen chris_n: We do (email notices)
20:21 jdavidb That one is in HEAD, I think, schuster.
20:21 chris is mysqldump that table --no-data
20:21 chris drop the table
20:21 chris and recreate it
20:21 schuster There he is - I wanted to make sure you got credit for it!
20:22 wizzyrea_ schuster: do you ever have a problem where you scan an item and something totally different comes up
20:22 wizzyrea_ but the next time you scan it, it's correct
20:22 sekjal chris: what indexes are on it? we can't even get that query to come back quickly?
20:22 jdavidb Thanks, schuster! :)
20:22 schuster I truncate and optimize.
20:22 chris dont truncate
20:23 chris truncate will take hours
20:23 schuster wizzyrea - are you sure it scaned what you thought it did?
20:23 chris drop and recreate
20:23 schuster I have had several times where the scanner did a miss read.
20:23 schuster drop scares me...
20:23 chris sekjal: there are some indexes on it, wont help with a count tho
20:23 wizzyrea_ well I only have anecdotal reports
20:24 wizzyrea_ "i scanned Hamlet and it gave me the Bucket List DVD" for example
20:24 chris mysqldump -uroot -p koha --no-data --add-drop-table sessions > sessions.sql
20:24 wizzyrea_ "then I scanned it again and it brought up Hamlet"
20:24 schuster Since you have merged several locations you are sure ALL barcodes are unique... Were they all the same length?
20:24 wizzyrea_ afaik all barcodes are unique
20:24 chris mysql -uroot -p koha < sessions.sql
20:25 schuster We did have a problem when a vendor sent us some barcodes 1, 2, 3 etc... and when you typed in 1 it pulled up a title.
20:25 chris will give you an empty sessions table
20:25 sekjal chris: thanks! I'll give that a whirl
20:25 chris you can also switch it to use files in the meantime
20:25 chris (while you do that)
20:26 wizzyrea_ Today at 2:35 pm was checking out a book Evidence (Barcode 3HFPL00026719K) to (Horton City Patron). What came up on her record was a A Bright Shining Lie, a DVD in Atchison (Barcode 00032000009334). Called Atchison and had them check in the item by the barcorde to get it off patron's checkout list.
20:26 chris so that ppl can still use koha while you are fixing the session table
20:26 wizzyrea_ I don't see anyting common about those barcodes
20:26 schuster What I would suggest wizzyrea - is next time they see that to do the back button to the input prompt and see what it says...???
20:26 chris sekjal: SessionStorage is the syspref
20:26 wizzyrea_ that's a good idea, it's probably just a mis-read
20:27 chris sekjal: you could toggle that to temporary files
20:27 schuster Wow that is really off. -
20:27 chris just until your session table is fixed
20:27 wizzyrea_ we usually make our libraries rebarcode if they don't have 13-15 digit barcodes
20:29 schuster Does atchison seem to have a LOT of ILL? those leading zeros concern me - they shouldn't but...
20:31 schuster I also have them SCAN the barcode into the email because sometimes the scanner shows something different than what is printed.
20:31 schuster Always freaks out the librarian that they can use the scanner in something other than Koha.
20:35 wizzyrea_ yes, in fact the dvd from atchison above is an incorrect (probably typo) barcode
20:38 wizzyrea_ the reason I ask you schuster, is because you've had that problem with super busy server where items look checked in but actually aren't
20:38 wizzyrea_ and I'm wondering if it's related
20:38 wizzyrea_ plus, our versions are pretty close
20:39 wizzyrea_ doh
20:40 schuster whats wrong homer?
20:43 wizzyrea_ oh I said something to you but you were not in channel lol
20:43 wizzyrea_ the reason I ask you schuster, is because you've had that problem with super busy server where items look checked in but actually aren't
20:43 wizzyrea_ and I'm wondering if it's related
20:43 wizzyrea_ plus, our versions are pretty close
20:43 wizzyrea_ there
20:47 sekjal alright, our Koha is back. just have a minor URL issue, but that's a convenience, not crucial
20:48 chris it was the sessions table eh?
20:50 sekjal once we switched off to tmp files, things improved
20:51 sekjal my colleague is working on fixing the sessions table, but he's also getting bombarded with other work right now, so I'm glad we have a temporary fix
20:51 chris yep
20:51 chris just watch your /tmp
20:51 chris you dont want that to fill up
20:51 sekjal chris: will do. Thank you so much for your assistance
20:51 chris no problemo
21:03 chris cait: pootle should be back now
21:04 cait hi chris and thank you
21:05 cait I noticed at work and gmcharlt sait I should let you know :)

21:16 schuster I suspect this hasn't been pulled into head? I am still seeing this as a problem - Library A book is checked out at B - library B checks it in transfer request pops up, book ends up at C and checkin just says not out.
21:16 schuster Homebranch is library A...
21:16 schuster Now holding branch is C....

22:33 chris hi IrmaCalyx
22:33 brendan heya IrmaCalyx
22:33 IrmaCalyx We had good progress with Walter yesterday
22:34 IrmaCalyx EESI implementation of Koha + Kete ^.^
22:34 chris cool
22:35 IrmaCalyx hi brendan
22:35 chilts EESI?
22:35 IrmaCalyx Environemntal Earth Sciences : a large private geology consultancy
22:36 IrmaCalyx my first Koha client in 2003
22:36 chilts cool :)
22:36 IrmaCalyx thanks
22:36 brendan yeah cool :)
22:36 IrmaCalyx How lucky am I to have Walter here in person
22:37 IrmaCalyx Walter McGinnis is the lead developer for Kete
22:37 MichaelCalyx Hi everyone
22:37 IrmaCalyx chilts..where are you located?
22:38 chilts 4 floors down from Chris (in Wellington)
22:38 chilts Catalyst too :)
22:38 IrmaCalyx    ++
22:38 IrmaCalyx May I introduce Michael Hogwood ...
22:38 MichaelCalyx Hello
22:38 chilts hell MichaelCalyx
22:39 chilts oopse
22:39 chilts hello
22:39 chilts :)
22:39 chris hi Michael
22:39 IrmaCalyx MichaelCalyx is one of my IT colleagues/support/saviour
22:39 brendan hi MichaelCalyx
22:39 MichaelCalyx :)
22:39 IrmaCalyx Michael is located in Bath UK
22:39 chris must be pretty late there
22:40 chilts ah, Bath and Bristol PerlMongers is meant to be nice :)
22:40 chilts isn't MJRay around there?
22:40 MichaelCalyx Yes, almost 11pm but I am a night owl
22:40 IrmaCalyx MJRay is close to Bristol ... at the coast... very windy cold place right now ..
22:40 chris kewstoke
22:40 chris in somerset
22:43 MichaelCalyx I was wondering if anyone knew how, or could point me in the right direction, to hide the content of OpacNav from users who aren't logged in?
22:46 MichaelCalyx or more simply, how can I make the OPAC private?
22:48 chris theres no existing way to do that
22:48 chris you would have to edit the scripts, like opac-main.pl
22:48 chris and take out authnotrequired => 1,
22:50 chilts if it's private to a network, you could use Allow/Deny in Apache (if I understand the problem)
22:50 chris i think they only want logged in users to see it chilts
22:51 MichaelCalyx Fair enough, I was hoping it could be achieved through System Preferences alone but using authnotrequired might be the best approach for now.
22:51 chilts ah right
22:51 chris MichaelCalyx: if you wanted to do it right
22:51 chris you would make that line controlled by a syspref
22:58 MichaelCalyx OK, thanks for your help, much appreciated :)
23:00 chris np

23:46 brendan was just outside and it's nice :)
23:47 ebegin Is there a way to know if all perl modules are installed other that running perl Makefile.PL and answer all questions?
23:48 brendan how about under > About Koha > perl modules
23:48 ebegin Before the installation ;)
23:48 brendan ah
23:56 gmcharlt ebegin: there should be a better way, but it *is* safe to rerun perl Makefile.PL for real
23:56 gmcharlt after you run it the first time to check your dependencies
