17:41 thd seen kados?
17:41 dewey kados was last seen on #koha 1 days, 1 hours, 18 minutes and 10 seconds ago, saying: semight be worth pinging the devel list [Tue Feb 6 08:22:55 2007]
17:41 kados hey thd
17:41 thd kados: hello
17:41 kados tnb: about to head out into the wellington sun :-)
17:41 kados thd: what's up?
17:41 thd kados: what happened to the wiki template?
17:42 kados thd: I had to revert, it was wreaking havoc with the authorization system
17:42 thd really?
17:42 kados thd: sorry :/
17:42 thd kados: what did it do specifically?
17:42 kados yea, I got several complaints and was having trouble myself
17:43 kados well you would log in
17:43 kados then edit a page and it would say you only had read access
17:43 kados or you would edit fine, then save, and it would say you didnt' have permissions
17:43 thd kados: why did that never happen to me?
17:43 kados so basically editing or adding pages weren't working about 80% of the time
17:43 kados I dunno
17:43 kados it's weird
17:43 kados it didn't happen to me for a while either
17:43 kados then it started happening
17:43 kados I reverted and the problems went away
17:44 thd kados: 2)% of the time it workded?
17:44 kados yea, about 20% of the time it worked fine
17:44 kados very strange
17:44 kados and I didn't see any errors int he logs
17:44 thd wow
17:44 kados and couldn't find anything abou tthat on google
17:44 kados and didnt have time to ping the dokuwiki list
17:44 kados as always, super busy :-)
17:45 kados ok, I gotta run
17:45 thd kados: they may not know but I also did not see any comment on the template developers list about anything like that
17:45 kados thd: yea ... it's strange
17:45 kados thd: will you attend our dev meeting tomorrow?
17:46 thd kados: there are upgrades to the underlying templates and for dokuwiki itself
17:46 thd kados: yes I should be there tomorrow
17:47 thd kados: do you have time for one more question?
17:48 kados thd: a brief one perhaps :-)
17:49 thd kados: why was lucene rejected specifically?
17:49 kados good question
17:50 chris lucene was never really an option
17:50 kados iirc, there wasn't very good MARC support
17:50 chris plucene was
17:50 kados hey chris
17:50 kados yea, plucene was the perl port
17:50 kados and it was dog slow
17:50 kados for importing
17:50 chris lucene is dog slow
17:50 chris and java
17:50 kados yea
17:50 kados zebra's way better
17:51 kados and we have only scratchd the surface, just wait till we start utilizing the 2.0 stuff
17:51 thd kados: lack of MARC support seemed obvious and I saw plucene post
17:51 chris and at that point java was proprietary
17:51 kados yep
17:51 kados we did write a plugin for plucene and koha though
17:51 chris yep
17:51 kados and tested it
17:52 thd I saw the post about how slow that was
17:52 kados nothing we tested came close to zebra in terms of loading speed and searching flexibility
17:52 kados we tested postgres's tsearch and mysql's full text searching too
17:52 kados and a coule others too
17:52 kados anyway, I gotta jet
17:52 kados thd: talk to you tomorrow
17:52 kados chris: talk to you tonight :-)
17:53 chris yep
17:53 thd I ask because someone mentioned lucene to me last week and I did not know good grounds for rejection other than lack of library system support
17:54 thd see you tomorrow kados
09:41 toins hi everybody
