19:25 caroline My turn to say goodbye! Happy holidays everyone! I'll be back on Jan 3.
16:51 caroline             happy holidays oleonard!
16:51 oleonard I'm officially off the clock for the holidays! I hope everyone enjoys!
16:00 reiveune             bye
15:13 caroline             happy holidays aw-bib!
15:12 aw-bib[m] I'll also call it a day for this year. Happy holidays to all of you and many thanks for all your help!
14:36 magnuse god jul, #koha! see you on the other side
14:30 magnuse              kit++
14:30 magnuse              MichaelaSieberBIB++
14:28 caroline Firefox shouts it in a canyon or something
14:28 caroline             lol!
14:27 oleonard Firefox translate has this to say: "The KIT Library has successfully introduced the free library management system Koha as the first university library library library library library." :D
14:25 MichaelaSieberBIB[m] we wish you merry christmas and a happy new Year
14:25 caroline             MichaelaSieberBIB++
14:23 MichaelaSieberBIB[m] here is now the press release (in German): https://blog.bibliothek.kit.edu/kit_bib_news/index.php/2023/12/22/kit-bibliothek-fuehrt-als-erste-universitaetsbibliothek-in-deutschland-das-open-source-bibliothekssystem-koha-ein/
14:22 MichaelaSieberBIB[m] many of you already know that we are live with koha since beginning of december
14:20 MichaelaSieberBIB[m] Hello koha
13:57 magnuse              ashimema++
13:55 ashimema             nice
13:46 aw-bib[m] many thanks for your help. also the tt from yesterday worked perfectly. I just replaced the `borrowers.title` by `borrowers.sex` where I see all necessary distinctions.
13:46 aw-bib[m] I see you point on adding data. this is probably more problematic for a _general_ test case. but as I have to add the notices one by one + (usually) the time consuming process it getting all librarians to agree on them. I could basically test them one by one. (still hoping I don't need every about 100 and I can keep this nls stuff at bay. ;)
13:46 aw-bib[m]            ok, I'll check the systempref.
13:37 ashimema loads of our notices could be resolved that way
13:37 ashimema we make things "easy" by including loads of different tables and variables out of the box.. if instead we said "all notices start with the user your sending to".. then reworked the notices to use the patron methods to pull in all the related data.. it would be simpler
13:36 ashimema it would be simpler if we considered having the same starting point for more of them
13:35 ashimema I'd love to have preview available for all.. but is not as trivial as it sounds
13:35 ashimema the challenge is setting enough data to get some of the notices to work
13:35 ashimema             that might help
13:34 ashimema there's a suspref to send all mail to one address from memeory
13:29 aw-bib[m] so as there is no easy way to check the templates "offline" otherwise, I'll resort to sending me test emails for all those I touch. that's a valid option, of course.
13:29 aw-bib[m] understood. now it becomes clear why I didn't get an error untill I called the template. it was syntactically correct, but I "missnamed" one of the objects in my typo. that is the point where I was looking for a check. something simple like: this is the template, this is test data, "just" render it and display, so I can see those. also noted that all stuff I do on our end will be TT.
13:28 tcohen               let's deprecate UNIMARC
13:18 tcohen               back
13:16 ashimema So I've not managed to make the improvements I'd like
13:15 ashimema I've wanted to do a lot of work in this area for a long time.. but alas it's hard to garner interest and or sponsorships
13:15 ashimema what it won't do is try to use the objects... We don't pass and table data in for the test so it can't catch method name, field name typos
13:14 ashimema I.e. missing braces and things
13:14 ashimema As for the TT validation, we run through a compile on check on save and it'll warn you somewhere if the template is invalid
13:13 ashimema But we're likely to support <<>> for a long while yet .. it's very hard to drop anything in Koha world
13:12 ashimema We're trying to move away from <<>> syntax yeah.. we've supported TT for a long time now and it's much more powerful
12:35 aw-bib[m] (btw: I assume if I create new templates they should use TT not `<<...>>` right?)
12:35 aw-bib[m] ashimema: you mean from the web I should have seen an error upon save?
12:09 ashimema aw-bib not an easy solution I know of, but the TT should do a compile check immediately after edits
12:09 oleonard PedroAmorim[m]: That has been my experience too. I don't know the solution.
12:03 PedroAmorim[m] any unimarc k-t-d users? If I run reset_all_unimarc and then rebuild zebra I get empty searches
12:02 PedroAmorim[m]       \o
11:27 tcohen               hola #koha o/
09:33 aw-bib[m] yes I noticed that on some. I was wondering if there is a general trick. some typos I made just caused an internal error e.g. hard to spot. one work around was to copy the mail text to a slip and print this. but as I understand the templating I don't have all tables available everywhere.
09:31 magnuse aw-bib[m]: some, but not all, templates have a built in test functionality, where you enter for example a biblionumber and a borrowernumber and can see the generated message based on that
08:49 aw-bib[m] working on the notices in our system I wonder if there is some way (a cli is fine with me) to test that my adopted templates work correctly. any hints?
08:48 aw-bib[m]            hello :)
07:17 magnuse              \o/
06:55 reiveune             hello
