22:49 davidnind I'll see what happens with the people I did the password resets for.
22:48 davidnind thanks thd!
22:46 thd davidnind: The text of email generated by MediaWiki should be recorded somewhere in the database and could be found somewhere in a database dump but I do not have access to the SMTP logs and have not found appropriate logs in the Canasta MediaWiki Docker container. There is an extension EmailLogger which we could try to install if we would need it.

20:59 aleisha but that ID totally exists in the DB. wonder if it's a timing issue
20:57 aleisha          [2023/09/14 08:52:57] [WARN] No job found for id=2141 main:: /usr/share/koha/bin/workers/background_jobs_worker.pl (133)
20:57 aleisha ive found more info that might help.... logs in worker-output.log
20:48 aleisha bizarre!
20:37 caroline Now I have the problem that my bg jobs for imports show something like 12000/1000 however... Not sure if it's related, but in the hands of a dev
20:32 aleisha thank you for that!
20:31 caroline aleisha, done! Let me/us know if it helped at all, maybe someone else will come looking for an answer
20:26 aleisha caroline: worth a try! can you please forward that to koha-developer@catalyst.net.nz ?
20:26 aleisha yes the progress, status is New
20:26 caroline I can't say I understand what I was told to do, but I can forward you the information if you want (note that we have a very specific environment that doesn't seem to be koha standard, so it might not apply)
20:24 caroline oh I think we had that too... we had to change something in each of our /etc/systemd/system/
20:24 tcohen[m] NULL/1 means the progress?
20:23 aleisha we're having some issues with background jobs being stuck at Null/1 on a Koha 23.05x - any ideas?
20:23 aleisha hello all
19:42 puphaus[m] * help and are happy to give the
19:41 puphaus[m] No problem, we're happy to help and give the koha community something back :)
19:31 tcohen[m] sorry for not promptly answering it
19:29 tcohen[m] I'd be really happy not to have to deal with (also) this things
19:29 tcohen[m] will go back to it
19:29 tcohen[m] puphaus: I saw your email pass by
19:29 davidnind thd: I don't know if you can access the outgoing email logs - could you have a look at the open requests and see if emails were sent for them? (covers 17 August until now - 8 requests remaining)
19:24 davidnind I've only done 2, so I hope that doesn't overload things...
19:23 * thd was afraid to try password reset with things working so slowly ;)
19:22 davidnind thd: I've done password resets for two BibLibre staff who weren't receiving emails - have asked them to let me know if they receive them, for account ManuB could you check the email address (I have e DOT betemps AT gmail DOT com)
19:20 thd s/we subsequently/tcohen and his system administrator subsequently/
19:19 thd ing a message from the Koha wiki.
19:19 thd davidnind: I think that tcohen is reporting that we subsequently worked around the earlier reported problem for the SMTP server and should have been good for a while now. However, maintaining server reputation is tricky as any server can be falsely flagged as bad. My own system should not be interfering much which could explain the issue at the moment if I was flooded today with bad messages and my system had to parse all of them before pars
19:05 tcohen[m] for this purpose
19:05 tcohen[m] we (Theke) set a dedicated Postfix SMTP server
19:02 davidnind tcohen's conclusion was that "..the server we are using is on some IP block that is added to a deny-list very often.." (see comment #4)
19:00 * thd will try testing again for speed in a couple of days or so with simultaneous test for spend when sending from some other systems.
19:00 davidnind        puphaus++
18:58 davidnind of the waiting accounts, only two have confirmed - will try resets for the accounts where an issue was raised (x2 for BibLibre staff) and see if they receive them
18:58 thd We need more testing to see if it is not merely unlucky me at the time of this one test if tcohen reports good speed with Gmail, etc.
18:56 puphaus[m] My employer would be happy to provide an smtp relay :) I wrote tomas an email with the infos but i don't know if he already read it
18:56 thd Messages are definitely being sent. My one test today showed very slow message receipt for me but all my other messages might have been slow. However, I was not running anything special on my receiving mail server.
18:53 huginn 04Bug https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=34637 major, P5 - low, ---, tomascohen, NEW , Wiki - email notifications aren't being sent (account registrations, password resets, etc.)
18:53 davidnind thd: bug 34637 - I think the solution was a "proper" SMTP server... still an issue I think
18:53 thd It could have been my system in this case and the unfortunate user's system a month ago. I did not do a test for time of receipt otherwise. I was merely checking that the messages went through.
18:51 Dyrcona Anyone considered the possibility of teergrube? Some server sends a temporary failure: "come back in X minutes"?
18:50 thd I was just checking following a report from a month ago where someone claimed to have no messages when attempting to create an account.
18:49 tcohen[m] yeah, our tests are always fine, on Google and other email systems
18:49 tcohen[m] someone offered a company's SMTP
18:49 tcohen[m] that reminds me
18:48 thd tcohen: See above for test indicating rather slow response on your mail system connected to the wiki. Nothing broken, just much delayed to the point where people may think that it is broken. I assume that the server for the mail system becomes very busy sometimes.
18:43 thd davidnind: Wiki new account email confirmation messages are working in my testing but merely delayed by perhaps ten or twenty minutes in my test for email confirmation and perhaps one or two hours in my test for account creation after email confirmation. Perhaps the system running the mail server used by the wiki becomes very busy at least some of the time.
17:54 tcohen[m] looking forward to see your site
17:46 paulderscheid[m] But already done for the day
17:45 paulderscheid[m] Yeah
17:45 paulderscheid[m] Hi
17:29 tcohen[m] paulderscheid: around?
17:27 tcohen[m] I didn't know we were migrating that!
17:27 tcohen[m] oh
16:09 oleonard         paulderscheid[m]++
16:07 paulderscheid[m] Just a PSA: Making solid progress w/ the website migration (Koha-community.org). Will share a link w/ a Demo tomorrow.
15:59 pastebot "oleonard" at 127.0.0.1 pasted "Works except that the $PrivacyPolicyURL isn't interpolated" (5 lines) at https://paste.koha-community.org/26094
15:42 caroline ah! makes sense
15:42 oleonard caroline: Sometimes patches are too large to put in Bugzilla
15:40 caroline I'm guessing it's because it would make too many patches?
15:39 caroline Is there a reason to have it on a gitlab branch rather than a patch? Just wondering bc it's different from the usual
15:38 caroline I think it might be broken, like you said... I could book for the same period, and the styling could be improved a bit
15:37 ashimema I need to dig into it again.. I have a feeling it's broken in various rebases
15:36 ashimema it's on another bug
15:36 caroline Is the OPAC side going to be another bug?
15:36 caroline ashimema, what is the plan for the OPAC side? I only tested the staff side
15:36 cait now we 'just' need to get it in? :)
15:35 caroline the feature seems to answer the need of the organization +1
15:35 cait time to prepare dinner here - bye all!
15:35 cait :)
15:35 caroline I was interrupted to be asked about a feature similar to bookings! I will try to go back in and test again this week
15:34 cait maybe it really just needs a bit more practice
15:34 cait team work - everyone wrote a bit
15:33 caroline I was interrupted, but to finish my thoughts on the notes, I think you did a good job cait :)
15:31 cait I am trying to remember one of the follow-ups on the bug we both worked on
15:30 cait what if we combined with tx( t(?
15:30 cait you are right
15:29 oleonard That works reasonably well because "MARCOverlayRules" doesn't have to be translated
15:29 cait maybe using I18N we coudl improve on this some more
15:28 cait maybe not great, but better?
15:28 huginn 04Bug 29589: minor, P5 - low, ---, jonathan.druart+koha, CLOSED FIXED, Translation issue with formatting in MARC overlay rules page
15:28 cait here: https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=29589
15:26 cait just trying to remember where
15:26 cait we figured out a way
15:26 cait we have some examples with system prferences in sentences
15:24 oleonard And we don't really have a good way of handling a sentence with a link in it do we? Especially not a link which has a template variable in it.
15:24 tcohen[m] We should record them. Or use a tool that takes notes for us, like Zoom
15:24 oleonard The patched version is better but still far from ideal
15:24 huginn 04Bug https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=34781 minor, P5 - low, ---, m.de.rooy, Signed Off , Add a span tag around GDPR text in opac-memberentry
15:24 oleonard I've been looking at Bug 34781 and trying to understand the translation issue
15:22 cait maybe it takes soem practice
15:22 reiveune bye
15:16 caroline we have to take great notes, like in-person meetings
15:15 caroline I agree, it's not really possible to follow the meeting if you're not in it
15:13 thd I also do not generally favour audio/visual meeting records. However, our meeting logs are sparse now for those who cannot attend a particular meeting in person.
15:10 thd I waited so that I would not be the first in the meeting with agenda instructions to log in to some non-free system for sharing the meeting.
15:09 caroline we only "recorded" the info and decisions in IRC with the logs
15:09 cait and I am not sure if jitsi woudl work well for ur with even more people, it's a bit hard to manage, agenda, IRC and jitsi
15:09 caroline no we didn't talk about that at all
15:09 cait I am ot a big fan of video records of meeting tbh
15:08 cait I missed it too then
15:08 thd No, but the issue about whether to record or send to Youtube had been at the top of the agenda.
15:08 cait tcohen?
15:07 cait I don't think we record?
15:07 thd Did I miss the part of the meeting for any discussion about recording the meeting?
15:03 cait feels like a big hug :)

12:12 cait but I also prefer the smaller stuff, because I only have capacity for a few of the big ones and only if I can fit them into daytime really
12:12 marcelr pushing one dev sometimes blocks other stuff again
12:11 cait I am tring to be part of the solution, not the problem! :)
12:11 marcelr yes cookie consent waited too long already
12:11 cait it's actually part of an initiative of mine to get old and bigger stuff moving...
12:11 cait it was very old?
12:10 marcelr yes, you qaed that patch lol
12:09 cait do I want to read back?
12:08 marcelr welcome in the koha frustration channel :)
12:08 marcelr the patches that you dont need make the best chance
12:07 ashimema Koha's BIG
12:07 marcelr only very small stuff touching two lines gets in
12:07 marcelr it is a nightmare to get things in
12:07 ashimema I totally get your needs.. and think they're solid
12:06 ashimema and code gets passed from one dev to the next.. it all gets rather confusing
12:06 marcelr even in 20.11 btw with some code swing in between
12:06 ashimema and as such it just annoys everyone when they do start to move.. often the original idea's behind them have been lost in the abys
12:06 marcelr i have been running with a newsletter consent in production on 21.11
12:05 ashimema these bugs are a bit annoying.. they've taken waaaay too long to get the attention they deserved
12:05 marcelr and then i want to still add more stuff, aarg
12:05 ashimema my brain just didn't put the two bugs into the same group in my head before today
12:05 marcelr the opac user form is kind of weird now when you also enable gdpr
12:05 ashimema your comment makes a lot of sense
12:05 ashimema yeah
12:05 huginn 04Bug https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=27378 enhancement, P5 - low, ---, matt.blenkinsop, Pushed to master , Enable compliance with EU Cookie Legislation via cookie consent
12:04 marcelr ashimema: added a comment on bug 27378
12:04 ashimema for the different consent stuff
12:03 ashimema i didn't put two and two together
12:01 ashimema reading back now
12:01 ashimema sorry, was at lunch
12:01 oleonard let's turn marcelr's frustration in to fun-stration
12:00 marcelr enhancement but with potential for backporting
11:59 huginn           04Bug https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=33745 enhancement, P5 - low, ---, glasklas, Pushed to master , Speed up Koha::Object attribute accessors
11:59 marcelr hmm bug 33745 was never backported ?
11:41 marcelr heh
11:40 tcohen[m] let's un-frustrate marcelr
11:40 marcelr so it becomes a frustrating experience
11:40 huginn 04Bug https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=27378 enhancement, P5 - low, ---, matt.blenkinsop, Pushed to master , Enable compliance with EU Cookie Legislation via cookie consent
11:40 tcohen[m] Matthew Blenkinsop: that'd be bug 27378's last comment
11:40 marcelr which was arguable of course, we use AV for lots of things
11:40 marcelr 31503 "failed" last year on using AV
11:40 tcohen[m] Matthew Blenkinsop: can you look at marcelr's comment please
11:39 marcelr i cant build on a weird form which it is now
11:39 marcelr tcohen[m]: the development of 27378 bites 31503 and needs attention before i can get 31503 further
11:37 tcohen[m] no QA?
11:37 tcohen[m] what do you mean stuck?
11:35 marcelr ashimema: hope you guys can help me out with conflict of 27378/31503; 31503 is now stuck again

10:23 oleonard Hi #koha
09:49 cait1 hello #koha
06:30 magnuse g'day mate!
06:26 dcook hola magnuse
06:24 * magnuse waves
06:22 dcook Wouldn't be surprised if that's why
06:22 dcook So high volume of emails come out of our mail server..
06:22 dcook I think our email reputation isn't always the best, as we run a number of listservs from our domain as well
06:21 dcook Please do :D
06:21 dcook Maybe I've marked mine as not spam and that's why I don't see it..
06:21 ashimema Next time I spot it I'll get a screenshot
06:21 ashimema I'll keep an eye on it.. it's strange. They don't get fully filtered out, just highlighted with a message at the top saying 'this might be spam'
06:20 dcook In fact, just did a test and my email wasn't marked as spam but the extra whitespace/newlines happened..
06:20 dcook I've noticed some people get my emails and extra whitespace gets added so I wonder if that's related..
06:19 dcook I haven't seen listserv emails from me in gmail though..
06:19 dcook ashimema: Nope. No one has said that to me and I've seen my work emails in Gmail and they haven't been marked as spam? I might do a little test now..
06:18 ashimema It's odd though, I've noticed it particularly with your mails.. Gmail constantly marks them a spam even though I've clicked the option to mark as not spam
06:17 ashimema Maybe it's the lists serve actually
06:16 ashimema Has anyone told you your emails are often marked as spam from Gmail dcook?
05:37 dcook And thanks ^_^
05:37 dcook ashimema: I thought it was a bit early for you still!
05:36 ashimema I mean to take a look today
05:36 ashimema Thanks for working on the security buhs
05:36 ashimema How are you dcook_
05:36 * ashimema is checking email from bed.. before first coffee
