03:17 Ahmed            Hi everybody
05:39 john_nakadaki hello, I would love to use this software to help manage a bookstore for a school
06:01 Ahmed This software is not for Bookstore
06:10 mtj hi john_nakadaki, i do recall that koha has been used for a video/dvd rental store :)
06:11 mtj ... so a bookstore could be possible too?
06:23 john_nakadaki how comes it cannot be used for a book store or library
07:23 cait             good morning #koha
07:50 Ahmed Good afternoon from Bangladesh
08:13 PedroAmorim[m]   hey o/
08:33 KodoKorkalo[m] @john_nakadaki: Libraries lend out their materials (books and such) expecting them to be returned on a set date by the borrower. This is very much how Koha operates. Bookstores are different. They sell the books to their clients, not expecting them to be returned. I suppose you could use Koha as a search system for a bookstore, but that seems like a bit of an overkill. And you would still need a different system (some kind of POS) for
08:33 KodoKorkalo[m]   selling the books.
08:33 huginn KodoKorkalo[m]: downloading the Perl source
08:34 KodoKorkalo[m]   @huginn: huh?
08:34 huginn KodoKorkalo[m]: I'll give you the answer as soon as RDA is ready
08:35 krimsonkharne[m] morning #koha
08:35 KodoKorkalo[m] huginn: I have no idea what you're talking about, sorru 😄
08:35 huginn           KodoKorkalo[m]: I suck
08:36 krimsonkharne[m] Kodo Korkalo: huginn is a bot and doesn't make sense sometimes ;-)
08:36 KodoKorkalo[m]   aa, ok :D

08:40 KodoKorkalo[m]   😄

08:43 krimsonkharne[m] lol
08:43 cait an all time favourite :)
08:44 krimsonkharne[m] question for the devs: if I was writing a patch and wanted to use a perl module that (afaik) isn't yet installed, would it be possible?
08:44 krimsonkharne[m] like say I'm writing a patch and want to use Path::Tiny?
08:47 cait you coudl add a new dependency but probably need to make a case for it soemhow
08:47 cait like explaining why it's needed /makes sense
08:47 cait and I think some files need updating, like the cpanfile
08:47 krimsonkharne[m] ok, thanks @cait!
08:48 krimsonkharne[m] it's purely hypothetical anyway :)
08:48 ashimema Path::Tiny is nice and high up the cpan river.. looks like a solid module
08:48 ashimema I imagine it's packaged for debian.. that's worth a little check
08:48 ashimema otherwise, I can't see anyone pushing against it being included
08:48 cait ah yes, much easier to persuade if it's packaged :)
08:49 krimsonkharne[m] ashimema++ cait++
08:49 cait some input on bug 34516 woudl be nice... I seem ti have cause it, but not sure how to resolve :(
08:49 huginn           04Bug https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=34516 blocker, P5 - low, ---, koha-bugs, NEW , Upgrade database fails for 22.11.07.003, points to web installer
08:49 ashimema I don't know what we use alternatively already.. that would also be an argument against it if we're already using something for the same purpose regularly..
08:50 ashimema but then, it's just a case of making the case why it's a preferred option and we may switch
08:50 * ashimema       grabs a quick coffee
08:50 ashimema I'm still getting my system back up and running fully cait, but can try to look at that bug once I have myself a dev env again
08:51 krimsonkharne[m] well, if I do end up writing a patch I'll take a look!
08:51 * ashimema jumped to fedora last night.. it's a brave new world from Arch (annoying security audit required a switch to a more mainstream distro again)
08:51 cait ashimema: that would be much appreciated, people keep running into it :(
08:52 cait Joubu++ too # looking at QA mail bugs
08:52 cait             ashimema++
08:56 * fridolin waves and goes to bed
09:06 cait             good night fridolin
09:33 paulderscheid[m] krimsonkharne: Path::Tiny seems to be already available
09:33 paulderscheid[m] perldoc returns on ktd (and on our machines)
10:12 oleonard         o/
10:49 krimsonkharne[m] paulderscheid: oh, thanks! Weird, last week perldoc -l Path::Tiny didn't return anything for me on ktd
10:50 krimsonkharne[m] I was probably doing something wrong :)
10:50 krimsonkharne[m] Still good to know about modules in general
10:50 krimsonkharne[m] paulderscheid++
10:50 krimsonkharne[m] krimsonkharne[m]: (it does now though)
10:51 tcohen[m]        I usually check with pmvers
