06:34 reiveune hello
06:47 PriyanshuSoni[m] i have set a library in koha, but how can user find my library on internet?
06:48 marcelr o/
07:00 NikolayGospodinov[m] Hello! I have a question. In the OPAC, in the Fees section, from where in the database are the Type and Description columns populated?
07:08 cait1 NikolayGospodinov[m]: what you see shoudl come from the templates for the system internal debit types
07:08 cait1 but check administration > debit types
07:09 PriyanshuSoni[m] <PriyanshuSoni[m]> "i have set a library in koha..." <- cait: plz help me with this too.
07:41 * cait waves
07:59 NikolayGospodinov[m] <cait1> "Nikolay Gospodinov: what you see..." <- I found them. my question is this: since the description is in english, how do you get the description in another language
08:04 ashimema bug 34423
08:04 huginn 04Bug https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=34423 enhancement, P5 - low, ---, koha-bugs, NEW , (proof-of-concept) Bugzilla could look better with a new skin
08:15 cait ashimema: i had a peek yesterday - looks nice :)
08:15 cait NikolayGospodinov[m]: as I said, they shoudl show translated already as the standard ones are part of the templates
08:15 cait they should correspond with your selected language, if someare missing, that would be a bug
08:16 cait but you can, for reports, translate them in the DB too
08:16 PriyanshuSoni[m] i have set a library in koha, but how can user find my library on internet?
08:16 PriyanshuSoni[m] Plz help me

08:19 Joubu PriyanshuSoni[m]: you need to provide more details. What have you done, what are you expecting?
08:20 Joubu do you have web hosting knowledges?
08:22 PriyanshuSoni[m] Joubu: i have installed the koha software and also created a library and catalogued my books. I even know how to make patrons and how to do check-out & check-in of books. But there are few issues, i am facing -
08:22 PriyanshuSoni[m] 1. I am not able to send mail to patrons. i tried to run apt-get update, but it is not showing as same as manual.
08:22 PriyanshuSoni[m] 2. I want to know how a user can find our library? Do we need to have a website for that and where is admin we have to set it up, so a patron can only se our library in OPAC.
08:27 Joubu about the email, did you try what tcohen[m] suggested you yesterday?
08:30 Joubu To have your Koha installation available to the public, you need your server (where you installed Koha) publicly accessible. Then a domain name to point to that server. I am not sure you will find someone on this channel to guide you for those steps though...
08:36 PriyanshuSoni[m] <Joubu> "about the email, did you try..." <- i tried but nothing happens
08:37 paulderscheid[m] Hi Priyanshu Soni, I can point you in the right direction
08:37 paulderscheid[m] Do you use the Matrix client?
08:41 PriyanshuSoni[m] paulderscheid[m]: Actually someone else has installed it in ubuntu, so i don't know about that properly
08:43 paulderscheid[m] No :D You can use the matrix client for private messaging here.
08:43 paulderscheid[m] It's an irc client.
09:36 paulderscheid[m] ashimema around?
09:37 ashimema hi
09:37 wahanui bonjour, ashimema
09:37 ashimema just about to grab a coffee.. but I'll be around today in general
09:38 * ashimema is happily watching ktd magically generate 10k ILL requests!
09:38 ashimema it's amazing Pedro Amorim
09:39 paulderscheid[m] I'm was just trying out the docker extension in VSCode and entered the koha container. With perlnavigator activated in the workspace we are already 80% there I think. (Talking about the devcontainer thing)
09:43 ashimema Awesome
09:44 ashimema We should document it as the recommended Dev setup I reckon
09:45 ashimema I'm actually on vacation next week but Matthew Blenkinsop and Pedro Amorim will be around.. I'm sure they'd be interested in this
09:45 ashimema How's the website ideas coming along btw? Super excited by that too
09:45 paulderscheid[m] I'll write something up today. It's actually super straightforward.
09:46 paulderscheid[m] I was bound to work-related things and had to do a lot of overtime the last week but will work on the website today.
09:46 ashimema I thought it might be.. I just hadn't had a moment to get that next step
09:46 paulderscheid[m] Currently working on the setup of markdown for individual pages for easy editing on the go.
09:47 PedroAmorim[m] paulderscheid: document this please
09:47 PedroAmorim[m] this is on our to-do to-document list for a short-term goal
09:48 PedroAmorim[m] I've installed all koha dependencies on my local dev machine Ubuntu and got perl extensions to work on VS code but was very troublesome
09:49 paulderscheid[m] Will do.
09:49 paulderscheid[m] It's what I also did but I had trouble setting up the @INC correctly for perlnavigator.
09:50 paulderscheid[m] Gonna test this for the next couple hours. See whether I run into any hiccups.
09:51 ashimema awesome work guys
09:58 tcohen[m] Hola #koha o/

10:07 marcelr hi tcohen[m] cait
10:08 marcelr tcohen[m]: just submitted a patch on 34367
10:15 Joubu [off] he meant 34349
10:21 cait1 I need to catch up post-vacation today, but I am around tomorrow for anything that requires testing - maybe also a bit later
10:21 cait1 giving clear priorities would be really helpful, it's hard to track the bugs
10:22 cait I also found that I cannot email from my other email to theke.io and bilbibre - my provider is listed as spam
10:22 cait not helpful...

11:30 marcelr ashimema: what about 33537 in the meantime?
11:31 tcohen[m] bug 33537
11:31 wahanui rumour has it bug 33537 is ready for testing

11:32 marcelr anyone ready for testing account renewal on bug 28688 ?

11:33 ashimema Sorry, fighting fires right now I'm afraid
11:33 marcelr even in the UK ?
11:33 marcelr :)
11:33 ashimema lol
11:56 Joubu tcohen[m]: any ideas how to fix bug 33554 correctly?
11:56 huginn 04Bug https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=33554 normal, P5 - low, ---, koha-bugs, NEW , searching borrowers is a lot slower if there's searchable extended attributes.
11:56 Joubu see last comment
12:42 Joubu emlam: hi :)
12:43 emlam hi Joubu!
12:44 emlam question - are you planning on submitting a patch for bug 34117? If not I can take it
12:44 huginn 04Bug https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=34117 normal, P5 - low, ---, jonathan.druart+koha, ASSIGNED , Duplicate patron sets dateenrolled incorrectly
12:46 Joubu emlam: please do
12:48 emlam will do :)
12:50 Joubu marcelr: "barcode" is a synonym for "cardnumber" in this context
12:51 Joubu emlam: sorry, I didn't see the bug report was assigned to me. I understand now your confusion. I was not sure if my suggestion fixed the original problem (haven't tried)
12:56 marcelr Joubu: ok it might not do anything
12:56 marcelr just looks strange
13:04 Joubu notice that we are passing the ref \$
13:04 marcelr yes i saw it now
13:04 marcelr there is still something there because i could still save spaces at the end
13:05 marcelr maybe html5 cuts them?
13:05 marcelr not sure
13:13 Joubu marcelr: I get it, we save the patron anyway
13:14 Joubu marcelr: patch updated
13:16 oleonard             caroline++
13:19 cait1 that string looks a little suspicious: Account: "
13:47 Joubu emlam: 34117 - you will need to provide a test
13:53 emlam Joubu - there is already test coverage for get_expiry_date and it still passes (but I'll add a prove step to the test plan). Should I add another test somewhere that covers patron creation/duplication that would catch the original problem?
13:57 Joubu emlam: you need a new test that will fail without your patch and pass once the patch is applied
13:57 Joubu let me know if you need help
14:00 emlam ok, I might need help, but I'll see how far I can get first. Thanks :)
14:14 emlam Joubu - is it enough to add a bit to the get_expiry_date tests to confirm that if a DateTime object for enrollmentDate is passed in as a parameter, it retains the same value before and after the get_expiry_date call?
14:14 Joubu emlam: I PMed you
15:13 caroline             oleonard++
16:29 reiveune bye
16:46 oleonard Is there a new default restriction in 22.11 that prevents users from deleting items from other branches?
16:48 caroline oleonard, maybe the edit_any_item permission?
16:48 caroline If you're not superlibrarian, it might not be checked
16:49 oleonard That was my guess too but where is it defined that an item from another library is restricted? It's just hard-coded now?
16:49 caroline The manual says "Edit any item including items that would otherwise be restricted (edit_any_item)
16:49 caroline Ability to edit items belonging to libraries from other library groups."
16:50 caroline bug 20256
16:50 huginn 04Bug https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=20256 new feature, P5 - low, ---, kyle, Pushed to master , Add ability to limit editing of items to home library or library group
16:53 oleonard I wonder if there are other permissions granted by the edit_any_item permission
16:55 caroline I'm not sure, it's a new permission that was introduced for this specific purpose... probably they wanted to make the description generic in case someone wanted to reuse it, but I haven't seen anything else use it so far
16:56 oleonard Thanks caroline
17:42 tcohen[m] Can anyone try the password restore feature?
17:42 tcohen[m] on the wiki?
17:51 tcohen[m] @later tell cait I see password reset emails flowing
17:51 huginn tcohen[m]: The operation succeeded.

17:53 oleonard I tried and the email came through tcohen[m]
17:54 oleonard Not crazy about the "temp password" method :/
18:14 emlam                tcohen++
18:14 tcohen[m] ?
18:14 emlam for fixing the wiki password reset emails
18:16 tcohen[m] fixing email delivery is a quimera, it eventually bites you in new ways
18:16 tcohen[m] but yeah, working for now heh
19:19 caroline I feel like an old lady just learning what the internet is and who writes www.google.com into the google search bar, but does the title of a page appear elsewhere than in the browser tab?
19:32 emlam caroline - to the user? The only other place I can think of is that it fills in the title when you bookmark the page. And I imagine it probably matters for screen readers?
19:33 caroline I'll try with the ubuntu screen reader, thanks emlam!
19:34 emlam you're welcome! And don't feel like an old lady :)
19:34 caroline it's just such a basic question... I feel like I should know this having grown up with the web
19:40 emlam nah, it's one of those things you take for granted until you have to think about it. The only reason I thought of my examples so quickly is that I had to rename so may Koha Wiki bookmarks so I could tell them apart, and that I've seen enough posts about the accessibility importance of values that don't really matter to the look of the page but do matter to screen readers
19:47 caroline omg, the ubuntu screenreader reading french words is hilarious
19:48 tcohen[m] paulderscheid: is there any place to look for perlnavigator+KTD info?
19:48 paulderscheid[m] I just finished writing a short [article](https://www.paulderscheid.xyz/blog/vscode-perlnavigator-in-ktd/) on how to setup vscode w/ perlnavigator
19:48 paulderscheid[m] Haha, you read my mind :D
19:48 paulderscheid[m] I'll add it to the real wiki tomorrow
19:48 tcohen[m] paul
19:48 tcohen[m] you're awesome
19:48 tcohen[m] :-D
19:49 tcohen[m]            paulderscheid++
19:49 paulderscheid[m] Thanks
19:49 paulderscheid[m] I think there's room for tweaking but I'll look into that tomorrow.
19:49 paulderscheid[m] For now (if you have the vim extension installed) gd works like a charm and takes you everywhere.
19:54 paulderscheid[m] Ah, forgot something in the article. You need to install perlnavigator into the container
