06:57 alex_a Bonjour
07:00 * magnuse waves
07:22 cait @later tell wizzyrea could you add Hypernova to list of support companies please? https://www.hypernova.fi/fi/koha/ https://lists.katipo.co.nz/pipermail/koha/2019-August/053536.html
07:22 huginn cait: The operation succeeded.
08:19 ashimema cait about?
08:19 cait yes
08:19 ashimema I can probably add Hypernova if you like
08:19 ashimema also...
08:20 cait I think i have access, just don't know how the plugin works
08:20 cait if you want to have a look that woudl be nice
08:20 ashimema bug 22744.. I've slighlty lost track of what's going no there..
08:20 huginn Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=22744 normal, P5 - low, ---, nick, Passed QA , 'Do not notify' is really a 'Clear' option
08:20 cait improving usability
08:20 ashimema do you have a preference regarding which patch
08:20 cait compare now and the 2 patches, pick what you like best ;)
08:20 cait i lost track too and might take a whlie to find it again
08:20 ashimema okies
08:21 cait PR_END_OF_FILE_ERROR - someone seen that?
08:22 cait cert is fine for me
08:22 ashimema ok.. no idea how the support listing works.. I'll leave it to wizzy ;)
08:27 cait ashimema: i think that#s where i ended up last time too :)
08:27 cait but i thoguth since we know lari, we shoudl add them - do you agree?
08:28 ashimema hmm.. this alternative patch only applies to staff side and doesn't have the corrsponding change in the opac template
08:29 ashimema FQA ;)
08:29 ashimema I find 'Do not notify' and 'Clear' just as confusing as each other.
08:29 ashimema we don't allow for not sending notices at all do we currently..
08:29 ashimema if you de-select all other options we default to 'print' do we not.
08:31 cait maybe "unselect all"?

13:23 caroline_crazycatlady hello everyone!
13:23 oleonard Hi caroline_crazycatlady
13:23 oleonard Anyone know how to restart mysql in koha-testing-docker?
13:40 tuxayo Hi :)
13:40 tuxayo Thanks oleonard I didn't know about koha-testing-docker ^^
13:40 oleonard tuxayo: I tried it during KohaCon in Portland but didn't really start using it until last week when my devbox refused to work
13:41 tuxayo Funny, I tried the KohaDevBox when my LXD container install refused to work ^^
13:42 tuxayo > Anyone know how to restart mysql in koha-testing-docker?
13:42 tuxayo The overkill solution is to restart the container. It shouldn't be long though.
13:45 tuxayo oleonard: Do you fell that koha-testing-docker has the same reliability than the DevBox for running the tests? I have a bunch of failures in the DevBox.
13:45 tuxayo (testing current master)
13:45 oleonard tuxayo: I don't know, I'm not usually doing work that requires tests
13:46 oleonard I think part of the motivation for using it is that it is better for running tests, but I don't know the details
13:46 tuxayo Ho, I should try
13:47 tuxayo oleonard: how about the usage as a dev env to manually see and test the changes. Is it as practical as the DevBox? (with the bonus of using less RAM ^^)
13:48 oleonard tuxayo: You should really be asking ashimema or tcohen. I am but a tiny baby.
13:48 tcohen hi everyone
13:48 tuxayo ^^
13:49 tuxayo Thanks for the feedback and pointers oleonard
13:49 tuxayo o/ tcohen
13:49 tcohen tuxayo: I moved to koha-testing-docker
13:49 tcohen for all my daily dev/QA work
13:49 tuxayo Great!
13:50 tcohen on the README I point to a setup that adds some useful bash aliases
13:50 tuxayo Does it means that the DevBox is in limited maintenance mode?
13:50 tcohen https://gitlab.com/koha-community/koha-testing-docker#aliases
13:50 tcohen people still use it
13:51 tcohen I'd say it is in limited maintenance mode
13:51 tcohen but there's been a PR to add support for Buster
13:51 tcohen so, it will depend on the users
13:51 tcohen I have it running on my box
13:51 tuxayo Thanks for the info :)
13:51 tcohen just not using it ATM
13:52 tuxayo hey fridolin o/ you don't need to be reluctant to use VirtualBox, we should just use koha-testing-docker. See previous messages.
13:53 fridolin ok indeed
13:54 tcohen @seen marcelr

14:03 tuxayo hi Eduardo :)
14:03 Eduardo I' like to ask you something concerning OPAC
14:04 Eduardo hi tuxayo
14:04 Eduardo Hope this helps
14:04 Eduardo https://snipboard.io/Wcoitz.jpg
14:04 Eduardo is it posible to get something like this using the Koha intranet?
14:04 Eduardo or just I modify some config files?
14:07 oleonard What specifically do you want Eduardo?
14:10 Eduardo I'd like to make my catalog work like that
14:11 Eduardo all the details are on that page
14:11 Eduardo https://snipboard.io/qX7Vxv.jpg
14:12 Eduardo I'd just like to show that info
14:14 Eduardo and https://snipboard.io/pJPk0Z.jpg
14:14 Eduardo its about the results presentation
14:16 caroline_crazycatlady I have never seen such a presentation. There are probably changes in the .tt file?
14:37 oleonard Eduardo: Is that OPAC public? Can you share a link?
14:51 Eduardo of course!
14:52 Eduardo this is the lik
14:52 Eduardo http://tubiblioteca.utp.edu.pe/
14:55 oleonard Eduardo: They have added custom JavaScript which does that
14:57 oleonard Oh, and perhaps a couple of extra perl scripts. So it's not a quick change.
14:58 pastebot "oleonard" at 127.0.0.1 pasted "Eduardo: Custom JavaScript added to OPACUserJS" (64 lines) at http://paste.koha-community.org/12940
15:10 Eduardo so Sr Oleonard, it is possible to get something like that as long as someone knows Javascript
15:11 Eduardo thanks a lot, I'll try it out
15:11 oleonard I think it's probably possible even without the added perl scripts. Someone with some JavaScript experience could probably work something up
15:11 * oleonard is trying not to get distracted into trying it himself
15:12 reiveune bye
15:19 tuxayo oleonard: Eduardo : info: this is a Koha 3.18.05100
15:32 Pit-Work i have a question, our local internal koha is running a bit slow for my liking. I'm not sure what is causing it. Even loading the initial page takes 4-5 seconds. and i think its odd
15:32 Pit-Work any suggestions?
15:35 Pit-Work actually its more like 6-9 seconds, for any page to load up, weather its a search or just the main page
15:39 Eduardo Koha 3.18? isnt that a little.... outdated?
15:39 Eduardo Let see, yes, the current version is 19
15:40 Pit-Work it was 3.18 untill i updated to current stable last week, on a dev box
15:40 Pit-Work and am testing it now
15:48 Pit-Work looks like durring that wait period opac-search.pl is executing
15:49 Pit-Work but it uses a single thread on the host
15:49 Pit-Work at least i think so
15:56 caroline_crazycatlady Pit-Work: just to clarify, the Koha that is slow is the 3.18 or 19.05?
15:58 Pit-Work 19.05
15:58 Pit-Work the 3.18 is just a tad faster
15:58 Pit-Work but not much
15:59 caroline_crazycatlady and the 19.05 is on a devbox? do you know if a devbox can run plack? (I,ve only used a devbox once)
15:59 Pit-Work we had koha running for many moons but used sparingly by one person, now that the library is well populated were getting some usage from staff, and thinking of making it accessible to the public, hence my renowed interest in getting this working properly
15:59 caroline_crazycatlady After 16 or 17, you have to use plack otherwise it is painfully slow
16:00 Pit-Work the devbox is a xen host, which i copied over our 3.18 install on debian 7 and updated to 8, then updated coha, reindexed etc
16:00 Pit-Work so it should run plack with no isues
16:00 Pit-Work does plack not get enabled on koha update?
16:01 Pit-Work renowed=renewed
16:01 caroline_crazycatlady I have no idea, anyone?
16:01 Pit-Work i havent touched this koha server for years so im quite rusty when it comes to its inner workings
16:02 Pit-Work as you can tell by previous version running 3.18 hah
16:10 Pit-Work HMM after mild reading it seems that plack does not get pulled nor installed with koha update
16:10 Pit-Work i'll try to do so manually
16:11 Pit-Work also seems like template caching is not enabled either

17:31 oleonard You'll never believe how fast item searching actually is. Bug 23575
17:31 huginn Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=23575 normal, P5 - low, ---, oleonard, Needs Signoff , Template error causes item search to be submitted multiple times
18:01 oleonard On the plus side for kohadevbox... It never came to a crashing halt following an item search...
18:14 oleonard docker says 5 containers running, but "docker container list" shows none
18:18 oleonard tcohen around?
18:29 Pit-Work ooh i fund out i get 100s of warning errors in opac-error.log
18:30 Pit-Work all refering to same line in /usr/share/pearl5/MARC/File/XML.pm
18:31 Pit-Work might be causing the massive slowdowns
18:42 Pit-Work unfortunatelly i have no clue about pearl to figure out whats causing it
18:45 tcohen hi
18:46 tcohen oleonard: needed me?
18:48 oleonard Yes, docker questions if you have a moment. Is there a recommended procedure for shutting down docker before powering off my computer?
18:52 oleonard Does Ctrl-C put it in a state where it can be restarted later?
18:52 oleonard If so, is the command for restarting different than setting up a new one?
18:56 davidnind docker commands I usedocker-compose -p koha up // shortcut if aliases setup ku
18:56 davidnind docker-compose -p koha down // shortcut if aliases setup kd (destroys)
18:56 davidnind docker exec -it koha_koha_1 bash // shortcut if aliases setup kshell
18:56 davidnind docker ps // see what is running
18:56 davidnind I normally start fresh - so down destroys the instance you have created
18:57 oleonard I'd rather not start fresh every time...
18:59 davidnind haven't needed to keep current state, so not sure what the best way is to stop it it - I think if you do CTRL +C before you shut down your laptop, then you should be fine with the up command
19:01 ashimema You can keep the dB oleonard .. there a switch for that
19:01 davidnind I normally go CTRL +C, then kd (which is an alias) <-- this destroys everything, then I use ku to start up again next time I need it
19:02 oleonard I haven't tried that ashimema, I should
19:02 * oleonard has to go... more docker questions tomorrow I'm sure
19:04 davidnind Restart mysql container = docker restart koha_db_1 (default container for database)
19:05 davidnind Getting into the mysql container = docker exec -it koha_db_1 bash
19:06 davidnind To get into the database from the Koha container = koha-mysql kohadev
19:12 bdonnahue hey guys
19:12 bdonnahue looking to backup koha and found this guide: https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Backing_up_Koha
19:12 bdonnahue i had two questions... 1) is it up to date, 2) does koha not store documents?
19:13 bdonnahue (brand new to koha so sorry if 2 is a dumb question)
19:15 davidnind bdonnahue: there are no dumb questions :)
19:15 bdonnahue thanks davidnind :)
19:16 davidnind if you have uploaded documents then these are stored on the file system, so you will need to back this up as well
19:18 bdonnahue davidnind, i am still playing around with my first koha install. Where yould these docs be stored on the hdd?
19:19 davidnind not that I run anything in production, but I think you have to backup 1) the database 2) your instance configurations (if you use packages these would be under /etc/koha/sites 3) any themes and changes to the Koha files (maybe manage these using git?) 4) any uploaded files 5) any customised plugins
19:23 davidnind just trying to find the location... also you would need to backup any local cover images you have uploaded as well
19:24 davidnind if you anyone around with system administration experience, and other GNU/Linux servers running, then adopting whatever backup and image tools they have would be recommended
19:30 davidnind bdonnahue: looks like uploads are stored in /var/lib/koha/kohadev/uploads (this is the default in an instance's configuration file) - I think that this includes cover images, as well as any other files uploaded
19:31 bdonnahue davidnind, the admin is me haha. I am thiking I can mount an nfs share on that dir and the mack regular archives of the dir
19:32 davidnind bdonnahue: the path after /var/lib/koha will depend on your instance(s) name(s)
19:32 bdonnahue right, thanks! forgot about that
19:35 davidnind bdonnahie: lucky you :-D, hopefully someone who runs Koha in real life can share what they do for system backups
19:40 bdonnahue would also be curious if anyone has setup a multi master cluster or at least HA
19:44 davidnind bdonnahue: I'm sure some has, particularly the Koha support providers and those running larger systems
