04:41 mveron Good morning / daytime #koha
05:00 alexbuckley hi mveron
05:00 mveron hi alexbuckley
05:03 alexbuckley I have submitted a patch for your bug 18438, not sure if it is exactly what you were requiring, but it is how I interpreted it
05:03 huginn` 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=18438 major, P5 - low, ---, alexbuckley, Needs Signoff , Check in: Modal about holds hides important check in messages
05:09 alexbuckley hi cait
05:37 cait hi alexbuckley
05:37 cait congratulations on pqa!
05:38 alexbuckley thanks I'm very grateful to you, mveron, joubu and everyone whose helped
05:38 * mveron waves
05:40 cait didn't do muc, but glad it made it in
05:40 cait is there something that still needs testing?
05:40 cait i lost track of the dependencies a bit
05:49 alexbuckley mveron has signed off bug 17956 which is the SIP, LDAP information pages at the end of the onboarder I am not sure if you are able to do a QA test on that?
05:49 huginn` 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=17956 enhancement, P5 - low, ---, alexbuckley, Signed Off , Provide additional functionality in the onboarding tool through configuring z-targets, and providing information on setting up SIP and LDAP services
05:49 cait what happened to the languages? all done?
05:51 mveron cait: Hi :-) - Do you mean the German translations? If yes - yes.
05:51 cait hi mveron
05:51 cait talking about the german onboarding version :)
05:52 cait and thx for doing the translations - you beat me to it :)
05:52 cait there was discussion about the onboarding tool only working with english -t hat's why i am asking if there is any work left to do there still
05:52 mveron Oh, that I do not know.
05:53 cait alexbuckley?
05:53 wahanui i guess alexbuckley is just writing nice commit messages for the patches, and then it will be testable :)
05:54 alexbuckley It wasnt the onboarding tool itself that needed languages SQL files moved it was the web installer improvement which were subsequently moved off into a different bug report so the web installer improvements which was the bit that required the languages was split off into a separate bug report.
05:55 alexbuckley The languages patches in 18039 ideally need to be split into multiple seperate bug reports to get them signed off faster. I am not sure how to split the patches for a bug off when there are so many
05:55 cait bug 18039
05:55 huginn` 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=18039 enhancement, P5 - low, ---, jonathan.druart, Needs Signoff , Move the mandatory and optional files for non-english languages into 'default' directory so bug 17855 permits use of other languages
05:55 cait so the currently pqa stuff will work with other languages too?
05:56 cait bug 17855
05:56 huginn` 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=17855 enhancement, P5 - low, ---, jonathan.druart, Passed QA , New onboarding tool feature to guide users through setting up Koha, and minor web installer UI improvements
05:56 cait *confused*
05:57 alexbuckley Nope bug 18039 is just for web installer improvements (bug 18346) to work properly
05:57 huginn` 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=18346 enhancement, P5 - low, ---, alexbuckley, ASSIGNED , Improved web installer containing basic and advanced setup modes
05:57 cait i htought the basic one was onboarding
05:57 cait i guess i really lost track
05:58 alexbuckley Nope that was just to make the installer easier to use onboarding didnt use the basic or advanced
05:59 cait so if i want to help out there, where would i start now with testing?
06:03 alexbuckley Well I still have to fix a few things in 18346, so that needs to be done before languages. I should have that done by tommorow. As for now perhaps you could test bug 18002 which is a mini onboarder for the acquisitions area?
06:03 huginn` 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=18002 enhancement, P5 - low, ---, alexbuckley, Needs Signoff , Make onboarding tool include framework to be embedded in Acquisitions to help the users set up Acquisitions for the first time
06:07 cait can't do it before tonight, but saving it
06:07 cait bookmarking it
06:07 alexbuckley Thanks :)
06:12 alexbuckley I have to head home now, see you all later
06:22 cait hm the weather is broken

07:57 * dcook finds handling a million things at once hard :D
07:57 dcook I got done that paper proposal in less than 50 minutes though. I thought that was pretty good.
07:58 dcook Little abstract about what we're doing with rdf in Koha
07:58 dcook And I guess the state of RDF in libraries ing eneral
07:58 dcook Because I don't have enough things to do already :p
07:58 dcook Paper isn't due until August though, so that gives us heaps of time
07:58 dcook And the conference isn't until next year
07:58 dcook Anyway, I should get home
07:59 dcook Good luck with your 5th time issue, magnuse
08:04 magnuse thanks dcook
08:04 magnuse which conference?
08:04 wahanui hmmm... which conference is that?
08:56 magnuse hm, should koha really be putting email messages in the message_queue for patrons that do not have an email address?

11:23 cait koha + centos - good idea or bad idea?
11:26 jcamins cait: making it work, or expecting it to work?
11:29 marcelr hi #koha
11:29 cait trying to install it there
11:29 cait i was asked
11:29 cait hi marcelr
11:29 marcelr :)
11:30 marcelr just wondering if you should say "they" when talking about one person
11:30 marcelr sounds kind of strange
11:33 jcamins marcelr: it does sound a bit strange in some contexts, but it has historical precedent and is the accepted gender neutral pronoun for both singular and plural.
11:33 marcelr ok, native speakers will know
11:34 cait marcelr: i got confused a lot by it in the beginning, you get somewhat used to it
11:35 cait someone used it when talking about the baby and I was thinking 'twins???' all the time :)
11:36 cait jcamins: so centos? :)
11:37 jcamins cait: I imagine a lot of people of people would be thrilled if you got it working.
11:37 jcamins (smoothly)
11:37 * cait files it under bad idea
11:43 eythian marcelr: yeah, it's perfectly normal sounding, you wouldn't even notice it typically. Very formal writing perhaps being an exception where it might feel a bit out of place.
11:45 marcelr eythian: en wij gebruiken she als meervoud :)
11:45 eythian yeah, that is so annoying, can you fix that please :)
11:50 eythian marcelr: while you're at it, I have this other list of things for you to fix: onregelmatig en sterk werkwoorden, dropping letters depending on what comes later in the word, separable verbs, losing the 'n' sound, g, and I'll probably think of more soon. Where's the bugzilla? ;)
11:50 marcelr ;)
11:51 eythian (how'd I miss de and het from that list?)
12:40 mveron oleonard: Thanks for testing, just saw the SO

13:22 jeff ouch.
13:23 tcohen magnuse: check your server timezone =D
13:25 jeff after our first case of calling patrons in the middle of the night, we added some additional hard limits, including a check for ntp sync. didn't think to add timezone checks, though... that hasn't bitten us yet, but now i'm going to want to add that before it does. :-)
13:25 magnuse hehe

13:39 magnuse looks like tje majority of texts are sent out at 6am something

13:41 magnuse yeah, and specifically it is 6:30, 6:35 and 6:40
13:50 magnuse of course the solution is a per-user setting in koha for "don't disturb me between x and y", with the possibility of exceptions for weekends and holidays

17:18 Joubu oleonard: Hi! You do think that future dates make sense for date of birth datepickers?
17:19 oleonard No, but individual datepickers can have their own setting which overrides the default
17:20 oleonard ...which that one has already
17:20 oleonard        $("#dateofbirth").datepicker({ maxDate: "-1D", yearRange: "c-120:" });
17:21 Joubu ok, my question was about dob
17:21 Joubu The patch uses "c-100:c+10" for dob, it does not affect default ones
17:24 oleonard Oh you're right I misread the changes
17:26 kidclamp I mostly kept the c and +10 because it is there now - just setting it to -100 seems fine to me, but is a bigger change in how it works
17:26 kidclamp who knows if librarians are registering time travellers and need future dates
17:29 oleonard I guess my suggestion is to either make the global default a wider date range or modify members.js for this particular case.

19:56 rangi theres always gotta be one
19:59 Joubu we may have found a topic to get people attending meetings :p
19:59 rangi ah well, im just gonna send patches making it gender neutral anyway
19:59 rangi wherever i spot it
20:00 Joubu I really do not care, but I agree that "them/their" is not perfect
20:00 Joubu (s)he and "he or she" neither
20:01 rangi its perfectly grammatically correct english
20:01 rangi has been for centuries
20:01 rangi there has always been singular they
20:01 rangi plural only is a modern abberation
20:01 rangi just like proprietary software
20:02 Joubu heh yes, just perturb non English native people
20:02 Joubu The only think I'd like to get is QA tests to avoid future occurrences
20:02 rangi but seriously we do have some gender problems in koha
20:03 Joubu and not have to write/SO/QA/Push other fixes like that
20:03 rangi is sex still hardcoded? not an authorised value yet?
20:03 Joubu guess it's not
20:04 rangi i posted a link yesterday to an india library, which is paving the way
20:04 rangi but that was an issue they bumped into

20:05 rangi adminkuhn--
20:06 rangi that was the least helpful message
20:06 cait i think she/he is not all inclusive
20:07 rangi not in the slightest
20:07 cait it's more complicated than that
20:07 rangi thats why having it be an authorised value (and making it translatable too)
20:08 cait the translatable bit is a problem currently
20:08 cait with the authorised values
20:08 Joubu that's why it's not an AV :)
20:09 cait woudl be really nice to have that
20:09 Joubu because there are not translatable (yet)
20:09 cait the itemtypes were a hit at our user meeting
20:09 Joubu but we could have a default list, that would be translatable
20:09 rangi yeah
20:10 * Joubu -- his English grammar
20:10 rangi i think philippe doesnt know Māori was my first language
20:10 * Joubu -- his/her/other English grammar :p
20:10 rangi and it has gender neutral pronouns too
20:10 rangi in fact it has zero
20:10 rangi gendered ones
20:10 rangi so he/she makes no snese
20:11 cait in German it's difficult - wish it was easier
20:11 rangi the question is, can you understand the comment, without it offending 50% of the worlds population
20:12 rangi They have a cat
20:12 rangi Can you understand that?
20:12 rangi if so
20:12 rangi wtf are we still worrying about it for :)(
20:16 rangi on to more positive news
20:16 Joubu http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlines/2014/02/heres-a-list-of-58-gender-options-for-facebook-users/
20:16 Joubu the list can be long
20:17 rangi thats why an authorised one makes sense I think, let peple define what works for their communities
20:18 rangi alex is busy working on the majors, to try and get patches/sign offs for all of those, no blockers or criticals left
20:19 rangi however
20:19 rangi https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=18442 <-- might move up to critical
20:19 huginn` 04Bug 18442: major, P5 - low, ---, gmcharlt, NEW , Permission error when logging into staff interface as db user
20:19 rangi its not very nice
20:19 rangi it actually logs you in
20:19 rangi but says you arent
20:19 rangi if you open another tab, you see you are .. so something weird
20:20 rangi but I think alex is going to use git bisect to both learn that tool, and find the commit that broke it
20:20 Joubu I can take this one
20:20 Joubu does it affect stables?
20:21 Joubu ha no, version is set to 17.05
20:21 rangi i think it does actually
20:21 rangi ive had it happen on 16.11
20:21 rangi only with the db user tho, so most people wont bump into it
20:22 rangi updated the bug
20:22 rangi Joubu: do you want to wait until your morning? if alex cant fix it, you take it then?
20:22 rangi its a nice one for him to learn git-bisect on
20:23 Joubu yep ok
20:23 rangi thank you
20:24 Joubu rangi: seems like we do not use the version the same way
20:24 Joubu version == master if it affects master
20:25 Joubu           version == 16.11 if it only affects <= 16.11
20:25 Joubu it's how I understand it
20:31 rangi ahhh right
20:31 rangi master then :)
20:31 rangi it effects 16.11, 17.05 and master
20:32 rangi so i would set it to master in that case?
20:34 Joubu yes
20:35 Joubu alexbuckley: I do not understand 18462, 17942 takes care of the onboarding tool already
20:35 Joubu well, will need to be rebased I guess
20:37 alexbuckley Its simply to get the styling that Owen did in 17942 to work on the updated onboarding tool. I tried merging 17855 and 17942 however it required quite a bit of manual updating to implement the styling into the onboarding tool
20:39 Joubu alexbuckley: if the patch does not apply, use apply --reject
20:42 alexbuckley Ok. Last night I went through and got the styling pretty close to fully implemented for the onboarding tool are you happy for me to attach the resulting merged patch to 18462 in a little while?
20:43 Guest315 Project Koha_Master_D8 build #156: STILL UNSTABLE in 1 hr 45 min: https://jenkins.koha-community.org/job/Koha_Master_D8/156/
20:43 Guest315 kyle: Bug 18372 - transits are not created at check in despite user responsing
20:43 huginn` 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=18372 major, P5 - low, ---, oleonard, Pushed to Master , transits are not created at check in despite user responsing Yes to the prompt
20:45 alexbuckley Joubu: I also got the web installer improvements bug 18346 (implementation of basic and advanced) that I split off from 17855 working successfully and ready to sign off with bug 18039 applied
20:45 huginn` 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=18346 enhancement, P5 - low, ---, alexbuckley, ASSIGNED , Improved web installer containing basic and advanced setup modes
20:45 huginn` 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=18039 enhancement, P5 - low, ---, jonathan.druart, Needs Signoff , Move the mandatory and optional files for non-english languages into 'default' directory so bug 17855 permits use of other languages
20:46 Joubu alexbuckley: I am not sure to undestand the difference between 17942 and 18462
20:50 alexbuckley So 17942 was for 17855 before your changes and before I split off the web installer improvements. To make 18462 I applied 17855 and 17942 then merged them. Our most up to date onboarding tool still did not implement bootstrap styling so I had to manually add that to the onboardingstep*.tt files. So put simply 18462 applies bootstrap styling to the newly changed onboarder and current master web installer
20:50 Joubu ok, good luck :)
20:51 alexbuckley thanks its fairly close to finished will continue to work on it after the majors including 18442
