04:05 mtj hey koha... would anyone wanna trade some signoffs, for a patch of mine? - bug 14522
04:05 huginn      04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=14522 normal, P5 - low, ---, mtj, Needs Signoff , Use Koha::Cache for accessing single_holidays()
04:06 mtj ...its that old 'slow holidays' one of mine :0)
04:07 mtj (its quite an easy one to test too)
06:44 drojf morning #koha
06:45 * dcook waves
06:57 irma jamesb AdvancedSearchLanguages
06:57 irma and others?
06:57 wahanui others are too depressing
06:58 irma oops wrong channel ...
06:59 marcelr hi #koha
07:29 putti Hi. I tried to ask yesterday about signing-off but didn't got reply then. So when I sign-off a patch, how do I add the [SIGNED-OFF] to the subject line with git bz ?
07:31 putti In wiki there was only example of doing it with the git format-patch. So we could add the bz way also to the wiki if now just one knows how to do it :)
07:51 mtj putti: parser.add_option("-s", "--signoff", action="store_true",
07:52 putti mtj, parser?
07:52 * andreashm waves
07:53 * cait waves back
07:53 putti mtj, where to run/put that line?
07:54 mtj $ git bz attach -s XXXX HEAD
07:54 mtj putti: i think that should work ^
07:55 putti Well my work flow is no: 1. git commit --amend -s , 2. git bz attach -e xxxx HEAD. So would that -s add it to the subject line?
07:56 mtj i cheated a while ago, and set my git to globally signoff
07:56 mtj https://stackoverflow.com/questions/15015894/git-add-signed-off-by-line-using-format-signoff-not-working
07:56 cait putti: sounds like a good workflow
07:57 cait -s only adds sign-off line, doesn't change the subject - but it's not strictly required. if you want to change it you can do manually in the amend step
07:57 mtj aaah, sorry - i misread the question
07:59 mtj sorry putti, i gave you bad advice :)
07:59 putti Okay, thanks cait and mtj. But so, the subject line is the first line in the commit comment, right?
07:59 putti not in the bugzilla comment
07:59 putti mtj, no problem :)
07:59 cait putti: yep
08:00 putti Cool!
08:00 cait so if there is Bug XXXX
08:00 cait you could put [SIGNED-OFF] Bug XXXX
08:00 cait it's sometimes useful for a bug with lots of patches that are not all tested at once
08:00 putti Ok
08:00 mtj yeah correct, afaik - i think people are adding the '[SIGNED-OFF]' subject manually
08:01 mtj ..afaik, its not git-bz or bugzilla that add it
08:02 cait i think you can automate something with a hook or command... but iam not sure how that exactly works
08:03 cait http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Tips_and_tricks
08:03 cait the git qa2 alias there does something automatically iwth the subject
08:06 mtj nice cait, i had forgotten about that page
08:12 cait i use the qa2 for qa - it's pretty helpful
08:45 drojf hi #koha
08:47 drojf i just got an email with a proposal for another kohacon 2016 location. after the deadline, though :/
08:57 drojf the first email regarding kohacon 16 i see was by thd-away, exactly four months ago. i also sent a reminder almost one month ago. so i'd say a deadline is a deadline, and if it is missed by hours for whatever reason, that's bad luck but still too late
08:59 drojf even though it's a place i would like to visit :P
09:01 andreashm seems a bit harsh to me if its a deadline missed just with a few hours. (days would be a different matter)
09:02 cait hm it seems a little weird to me
09:02 cait also emailing drofj is not the correct procedure
09:02 drojf and how do we draw the line then? how many hours is ok, how many days is too late?
09:02 drojf and what do we set a deadline for?
09:02 cait yeah
09:03 drojf cait: they asked if they can still bid, it's not a ready proposal
09:03 octo19 hello, trying to install koha 3.18 on debian 7.8 as per recommendation of tcohen. when I run 'apt-get install koha-common' I receive this error 'The following packages have unmet dependencies:' followed by 60-70 lines of 'Depends:'
09:03 cait hm hard
09:04 cait but actually they shoudl not email you directly i think
09:04 cait just because you send the emails
09:04 octo19 the final error says 'E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.'
09:04 octo19 any ideas?
09:04 wahanui any ideas are welcome :)
09:04 drojf i guess they did not want to ask in public. or they have mistaken me for someone who is in charge of something that he is not :D
09:09 drojf i'll tell them the deadline is passed and they are welcome to ask on the list (as i don't decide, i just have an opinion), but should not get their hopes too high. does that make sense?
09:10 cait makes sense to me
09:10 cait i'd definitely point out the deadline
09:12 cait and also think that when the deadline is over we should stick to it
09:13 cait otherwise we undermine ourselves and things coudl get really messy in other cases
09:14 rangi id say yeah, try again next year
09:14 rangi no point having deadlines otherwise :)
09:16 drojf before i have more windows popping up, the location is dublin ;)
09:17 cait i'd like that, but still think we need to stick to the deadline
09:17 rangi ahh shame they didnt get it in in time
09:17 drojf same for me
09:17 cait otherwise it's unfair to the other bids
09:17 drojf yes
09:17 rangi took nigeria 3 years to get theirs :)
09:17 drojf if greece wins this time, they'd have to wait too
09:18 cait yeah, but if we made an exception 2 competing ones in europe
09:18 drojf they can still do a hackfest ;) we could have a hackfest in europe every month ;)
09:18 rangi heh
09:18 cait heh
09:19 cait i think if you plan to do that, you need to inform yourself, the info was out there for a long time and also the deadline had some time until today
09:20 drojf the person was on a longer leave. but that is not our fault
09:21 rangi yeah, its been almost a year
09:22 cait yeah
09:26 andreashm makes sense
09:27 cait it seems mean.. but i think it's the only way to be fair
09:27 andreashm was actually considering if we should have put in a bid before,
09:28 andreashm but I didn't know enough about what that would mean (is there a commity of sorts handling the content, like most conferences, or would that be up to the organizers?) and the deadline came to quick for us
09:28 andreashm comitee
09:28 rangi its up to the organisers
09:28 andreashm committee... gah, can't spell
09:28 cait :)
09:28 drojf if we would make an exception now (on whatever grounds), we would have to reopen and set a new deadline. with a vote in four weeks, that's impossible. so we woul dhave to change the date of the vota probably, having a very late decision. with a bid for may or june, that is really little time to plan
09:29 cait basically what you need to do is put a bid on the wiki (on time) with information about where and when
09:29 cait the usual format is 3+1+3
09:29 rangi andreashm: basically if you bid for a kohacon, its expected you organise things (plenty of people will help out)
09:29 cait conference - some activity together - hackfest
09:30 andreashm thanks. good to know for the future.
09:30 cait i think people have asked for volunteers to help reviewing abstracts in the past
09:30 rangi a good thing is to get your cfp out early so you can get a programme up earlyish .. the earlier you have a programme the more registrations you get
09:30 cait yep
09:31 rangi (its easier to get funding to attend a conference if you can show your boss look this session on RFID is exactly what we need to see etc)
09:35 andreashm thanks rangi
09:36 drojf i think if you have a location to host 200 people, stable internet connection and some time to donate you already have half a kohacon
09:37 drojf at least that was my idea for a possible last-second-proposal if there would not have been a european entry ;)
09:37 cait i think you are not too far off
09:37 rangi yep
09:37 rangi it helps to have no shame too
09:38 cait hm?
09:38 rangi asking local companies for sponsorship
09:38 cait licorice!
09:38 rangi for kohacon10 in nz, we got 2 bars sponsoring, a licorice manufacturer, a stationery shop, etc
09:38 cait probably spelled it wrong, but it was so good
09:39 rangi all they can say is no :)
09:41 rangi but yes, the venue is the main thing
09:41 drojf rangi: what did they sponsor? rent for the location, or other stuff?
09:42 drojf or actual conference licorice?
09:42 rangi pens, pads, licorice, drinks for the welcome dinner
09:42 cait drojf: best licorice ever
09:42 drojf awww :)
09:43 cait and i still have the pad
09:43 cait i use it only for important meetings so it lasts longer :)
09:43 rangi there is a bar called the library
09:43 rangi so of course we asked them
09:43 drojf heh
09:43 drojf seems obvious :D
09:43 cait ... and i was sick at the hotel this evening *stillgrumpyaboutthat* heh
09:44 drojf hm. to warm for long trousers, not warm enough for wet (freshly washed) shorts :/
09:44 drojf summer problems

09:48 drojf nice
09:48 Francesca good photo
09:49 drojf so dublin, sweden, norway… a lot of european kohacons coming up ;)
09:49 drojf and greece, of course
09:49 cait germany... one day
09:50 rangi drojf: https://www.flickr.com/photos/4nitsirk/5128287348/in/album-72157625236896938/ <--- pool table and pizza is good too :)
09:51 drojf one of my hackfest locations has escalated my query. they like the idea very much, but can't decide on their own
09:51 cait :)
09:51 drojf [off] they would have enough space for kohacon, it would be a great test run :P
09:52 drojf rangi: very nice :)
09:52 rangi right, time to sleep
09:53 drojf good night rangi
09:54 cait night rangi
09:55 * Francesca should be sleeping too
10:50 drojf /msg cait test
10:51 drojf i think the irc app is not capable of dms
11:38 xarragon_ When I implement stuff, how much care should be taken to get stuff to work without JS?
12:18 jcamins No functionality that is central to the OPAC should require JS, but bells and whistles can be JS-dependent.
12:30 tcohen hi

15:04 misilot I have a question about the serials module. I am trying to add a serial and trying to figure out how to fix the prediction pattern for a magazine we just purchased. However the volume isn't updating after the the number of issues "12" goes by. For example I am starting at issue 8, so at issue 13 it should change to Vol 15, Issue 1, but it stays at Vol 14, No 1, instead of Vol 15, No 1
15:05 misilot nevermind I think I figured it out with the Inner counter
15:06 misilot I thought that was how many to add ever time
15:17 tcohen khall: 14598 needs a new signoff imho, and possibly a followup for updatedatabase, to fix circ statistics with null itemtypes
18:30 tcohen have a nice day kiwis
19:04 drojf evening
19:09 drojf evening again ;)
