Time Nick Message
00:28 mtompset There... finally got Flash working for IE again.
00:29 mtompset Greetings, khall. :)
01:22 dcook Oh result browsers... you have so much to answer for..
01:22 dcook Hmm or maybe it's just bad data
01:22 dcook Or both
01:24 dcook On an unrelated note, I could really go for a burrito right now...
01:43 mtompset I always blame the data. :)
02:23 wizzyrea blame the user, always a good policy (not really the best policy)
02:37 mtompset wizzyrea: Well, given that browsers change less than data, it is more likely the data. The problem is determine whether it really is the user's fault or a bug.
02:37 mtompset And it isn't the user's fault. It's a lack of training. :)
02:37 * wizzyrea notes that she wasn't really being serious
02:40 mtompset I didn't figure you were. Most people would not blame the users first, even though that is a knee-jerk reaction when I'm in a bad mood. :)
03:00 eythian http://mywiki.wooledge.org/BashFAQ/105 <-- well that's more complicated than I expected
03:01 bag @later tell rangi http://snag.gy/lLulA.jpg
03:01 huginn` bag: The operation succeeded.
03:40 * bag heads to bed
04:12 eythian wahanui: excuse
04:12 wahanui eythian: Me no internet, only janitor, me just wax floors.
04:14 wizzyrea *shakes head*
04:29 mveron Good daytime #koha
04:30 eythian hi mveron
04:30 mveron hi eythian
04:31 mveron hi mtompset
04:31 mtompset Greetings, mveron.
04:31 mveron mtompset: I'm about to sign-off Bug 14066
04:31 huginn` 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=14066 normal, P5 - low, ---, jonathan.druart, Needs Signoff , Koha code does not really use Readonly
04:31 mtompset YAY!
04:32 mtompset If it passes QA, then we can resolve invalid the 13767. :)
04:32 mveron Test plan says: prove -v t/db_dependent/Calendar.t - but I do not have such file
04:32 mveron I have only t/Calendar.t
04:33 mveron All other tests pass
04:33 mtompset Oops... :)
04:33 mveron Meaning: Everything is OK?
04:34 mtompset Everything is okay, that shouldn't be there. :)
04:34 mtompset      grep -l "Koha::Calendar" `find t -type f`
04:34 mtompset t/Calendar.t
04:34 mtompset t/db_dependent/Holidays.t
04:34 mveron Both OK
04:35 mtompset t/db_dependent/Holds.t -- if you want to be ultra safe... it uses C4::Calendar
04:35 mtompset But the oops is my test plan is a little off, not a problem with the actual code. :)
04:37 mtompset But perhaps the test for Holds needs to be tweaked?
04:37 mtompset (a new bug?)
04:38 mveron I have errors on t/db_dependent/Holds.t : Duplicate entry for key "PRIMARY' at ...Reserves.pm line 1150
04:38 mtompset (plus extra work it would seem)
04:39 mtompset Ah... another bug?
04:40 mtompset we really must stop finding places to polish. :)
04:40 mveron Seems not to be related to 14066 - I will sign off...
04:42 mtompset I agree.
04:45 mtompset I suspect the issue is if you create a reserve and cancel it and then run the Holds test, it will fail, because there already is a cancelled reserve of that number? Hmmm... or something like that. Not sure.
04:49 wizzyrea eythian++ for being a champion package maintainer
04:49 eythian to be fair, I'm fixing my own problems :)
04:49 wizzyrea yeah but you're fixing them.
04:49 mtompset mveron: You squashed the patches together?
04:50 mveron Not finished yet...
04:50 mtompset Okay. :)
04:52 mtompset Yes, eythian, your response time is reasonable. It's not like you take a 2 week vacation after releasing something buggy. :)
04:53 eythian heh I try not to :)
04:54 mtompset Okay, so if I attempt to roll my own packages, and install that fresh, this should work.
04:55 mtompset And if I have an oldstable install and attempt to use the rolled packages, it should work.
04:55 mtompset That's the test plan, eythian?
04:55 * dcook has often wondered where Readonly got used...
04:56 eythian mtompset: well, in this case it should work as a fresh install, but it should also work if you have any older version.
04:57 mtompset Like I said, those two things should both work, and my suggestion is a reasonable test plan, right?
04:57 mtompset I'll spend the next while testing it, if so.
04:57 eythian oh, I missed the first half
04:57 eythian yes
04:58 mtompset We can blame BobB. ;) Greetings, BobB. :)
04:58 eythian yep, his fault :)
04:59 mtompset Great. This also gives me a chance to get my Jessie VM package rolling capable. :)
05:03 BobB sorry I stuffed up obviously :)
05:03 BobB what was I doing?
05:04 BobB anyway, I'll be sure not to do it again
05:04 mveron mtompset: Bug 14066 signed off - after some early morning mistakes with the patches ...
05:04 huginn` 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=14066 normal, P5 - low, ---, jonathan.druart, Needs Signoff , Koha code does not really use Readonly
05:04 * mveron needs coffee
05:05 mtompset No problem. I should be going to bed soon, but I want to sign off eythian's patch. :)
05:05 dcook Does coffee really work?
05:05 * dcook hasn't had coffee in years and doesn't really notice its absence
05:05 cdickinson I just don't have coffee
05:05 mtompset dcook: Some people replace their caffeine addiction with sugar. ;)
05:05 dcook Actually, I don't think I have any caffeine coming in. Don't drink tea or coffee or soft drink.
05:05 dcook Hmm, I'm not much of a sugar person either
05:06 mtompset Do you eat carbs?
05:06 dcook Touche
05:06 cdickinson low carb here
05:06 * dcook would eat all the carbs if he could
05:06 dcook Really. All of them. Love me some carbs.
05:06 mveron dcook: I simply love coffee :-)
05:06 dcook mveron: Fair enough. It does smell awesome.
05:06 dcook :)
05:07 mtompset Me too, dcook. But since I have given them up for the most part, I have had significant success in my weightloss.
05:07 mtompset      298 -> 216.5 in about 2 years (~ .75lbs per week)
05:08 mveron Lower room temerature by 2° - that helps loosing weight...
05:08 mveron temperature
05:08 wahanui temperature is ok for me
05:08 mveron wahanui...
05:08 wahanui i am a strange duck
05:08 mtompset wahanui: forget temperature
05:08 wahanui mtompset: I forgot temperature
05:08 mveron wahanui: forget yourself
05:08 wahanui mveron, I didn't have anything matching yourself
05:09 mveron wahanui: :-)
05:09 wahanui mveron: sorry...
05:09 mtompset wahanui?
05:09 wahanui mtompset?
05:09 mtompset wahanui?
05:09 wahanui mtompset?
05:09 mtompset I was hoping for some randomness there. Oh well. ;)
05:10 dcook Nice one, mtompset
05:10 dcook If only eating more carbs could increase my weight
05:10 eythian wahanui: be wahanui
05:10 wahanui Look at me! I'm a bot! Beep beep! Boop boop!
05:10 dcook Of course, I won't be saying that in a few years when my metabolism decides to betray me
05:11 eythian http://thedailywtf.com/articles/Death-by-Delete
05:15 dcook O_O
05:16 mtompset SCARY!
05:20 mtompset eythian: I have a problem rolling a package.
05:21 pastebot "mtompset" at 127.0.0.1 pasted "Last bit of the rolling..." (6 lines) at http://paste.koha-community.org/67
05:21 eythian you attempted to build a package with something like '-1' in its version number.
05:23 mtompset sudo ./debian/build-git-snapshot -r ~/debian -v 3.18.06-9git -d
05:23 eythian yep
05:23 eythian -9git
05:23 eythian you can't have that
05:23 mtompset 3.18.06vgit?
05:24 mtompset What should I roll it as?
05:24 eythian whatever you like really
05:24 eythian you just can't have -
05:24 mtompset Okay.
05:24 eythian tbh, I would just let it work out its own version
05:24 eythian it'll probably give you a 3.19 or something, but that's fine for testing.
05:24 mtompset Then http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Building_Debian_Packages_-_The_Easy_Way needs tweaking.
05:25 eythian yep, it's using older build tools that just warned in this situation
05:26 * eythian wants to totally change the whole packaging process some time soonish
05:27 eythian in order to make it so that all the pkg-perl tools can work with it.
05:33 mveron eythian: I have somebody asking about 3.18.06.000 - This is the newset, stable version, right?
05:34 eythian yes, I didn't bump the internal version number because it's totally a packaging only change
05:34 eythian hi cait
05:34 cait hi #koha
05:34 cait hi eythian
05:34 mveron So if he did abt-get update and apt-get upgrade everything should be OK?
05:34 mveron apt...
05:34 mveron Hi cait :-)
05:35 eythian mveron: yeah, and if it installs without errors, then it'll be fine anyway
05:35 eythian it was just interfering with installs in certain situations.
05:35 cait brb
05:43 mveron eythian: Thanks!
05:48 mtompset Maybe... Having issues rolling... but it might be working now.
05:50 eythian that's pretty definitely what that error message means
05:51 mtompset wheee....lots of scrolling... I think that's a good sign. :)
05:52 mtompset NOOOOOO!
05:53 mtompset      DateTime::Format::DateParse -- I hate you so much.
05:53 cait isn't that dead?
05:55 mtompset      C4::Accounts
05:55 wahanui hmmm... C4::Accounts is gone now?
05:55 mveron Somebody evaluating Koha complains about missing dateformat Bug 12072 and its blocked by Bug 13813
05:55 huginn` 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=12072 enhancement, P5 - low, ---, veron, ASSIGNED , New dateformat dd.mm.yyyy

05:58 eythian mtompset: oh, that's something weird that happened.
05:58 eythian I ended up readding it for my builds.
05:58 mtompset I just realized I'm trying to roll 3.18.x
05:59 mtompset DOH! This test needs to be on master. DOH!
05:59 eythian yeah, that's probably best
05:59 eythian I need to readd it in upstream, I don't know why it went away.
06:00 eythian you can also grab the -packaging branches of git.catalyst.net.nz/koha.git
06:00 eythian I try to remember to push all my branches that the packaging is done on to there.
06:01 mtompset It's okay... failures help me remember how to do it right once I succeed. :)
06:02 eythian I'd manually add it to debian/control for testing porpoises.
06:04 * magnuse waves
06:04 mtompset Greetings, magnuse. Did you see that bug with a testing plan just for you? :)
06:04 eythian hi magnuse
06:06 mtompset I have a 3.18.x build. YAY!
06:06 mtompset Now to actually do master like I should have. :)
06:08 magnuse mtompset: yeah, not had the time for it yet
06:08 magnuse kia ora eythian
06:09 mtompset I thought it was a bromance kind of thing to do. A specific test plan just for you. :)
06:13 eythian later
06:13 * eythian &
06:13 mtompset Bye, eythian.
06:17 mtompset Greetings, indradg.
06:27 magnuse mtompset: could be, who knows? ;-)
06:27 mtompset :) Well, I was hoping there is more than just you in Norway. :)
06:29 magnuse there are some people here besides me, yes, but i am probably the only technically inclined person who cares about normarc in koha

17:39 xarragon Debian jessie
17:39 cait then you shouldn#t use CPAN at all :)
17:39 cait use the packages: packages?
17:39 cait packages?
17:39 wahanui packages is at http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Debian
17:40 tcohen hi
17:40 wahanui niihau, tcohen
17:40 cait hi tcohen :)
17:40 tcohen finally online
17:41 cait tcohen: work?
17:41 wahanui somebody said work was progressing nicely
17:41 * magnuse waves
17:41 cait xarragon: it's the recommended installation method - if you require a dev environment there is also a way to install only the dependencies from packages
17:42 tcohen firewall issues with IRC + tons of requests at the office
17:43 cait ew
17:43 xarragon cait: Yeah, this is intended for development. I am not too familiar with package management under Perl; I've simply always used the distro packages and laughed at things like node-js and pyhton that requires virtual environments to manage volatility.
17:44 cait xarragon: there are different ways to set up a dev environment
17:44 cait some use koha-gitify?
17:44 cait koha-gitify?
17:44 cait hm the bot is not listening
17:45 cait I install the koha dependencies with the packages and then install in dev mode (quite classic) - and there is also the koha-devbox
17:45 cait https://github.com/digibib/kohadevbox
17:46 cait koha-gitify is https://github.com/mkfifo/koha-gitify
17:47 xarragon My plan was to use the packages for deps; I simply assumed there was no jessie-compatible version yet and then manually install the git version.
17:47 cait hm and this doesn't look too bad for a dev instalation: http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_on_ubuntu_-_git
17:47 xarragon Yeah that's the one I have been looking at.
17:47 cait that should pull in what you need - not sure if it has the very newest yet, but it might
17:47 cait sudo apt-get install koha-deps koha-perldeps
17:48 cait for a dev environment you will need git
17:48 cait tcohen: tell me when i talk nonsense :)
17:48 xarragon cait: Git is installed and configured and the main repo has already been cloned.
17:49 cait cool - so what were you using CPAN for? was soemthing missing?
17:49 xarragon I was reading thought the Perl makefile to figure out how all the pieces fit togethe.
17:49 cait oh not sure that's a recommendable first read :)
17:49 xarragon cait: Following the INSTALL instr. I launched Makefile.pl as regular user to see what happened, ut it required DBIx/Connector.pm
17:50 cait right
17:50 cait it's new for the next version
17:50 cait sudo apt-get install libdbix-connector-perl should do it
17:50 xarragon I was under the impression that using the distro packages was a bad idea with the git version, hence CPAN pondering.
17:50 cait ah no
17:50 cait we recommend against using CPAN
17:51 xarragon Well then all is good since it is much easier with the distribution packages imho.
17:51 xarragon I have use cpanminus before though.
17:52 xarragon Most perl package management tools seems set up for a single installation in the current user's home directory though.
17:53 xarragon cait: Ok, I'll check out the gitify thing befoe I do any more harm. Thanks for the help.
17:53 cait if you already have a git clone and the dependencies
17:53 cait you could also do a dev installation - runnignt he makefile.pl and pick dev and the defaults
17:54 cait the gitify has soome advantages, but also some minor catches for testing certain things
17:56 xarragon Hm, okay.. I guess I'll do the dev installation then. Otherwise I'd have to read thought the gitify to figure what it does before I let it run rampant on my machine with root access.
17:59 * tcohen depends too much on the OS notification icon to track he's IRC session
18:00 xarragon Better than the habitual cycling to the IRC window every other minute that you might develop otherwise. :-)
18:13 xarragon cait: I had to install 3 other packages in order to get the installer rolling; I am thinking it might be a good idea to add a small page for debian jessie to the wiki?
18:14 xarragon (I am writing down my steps taken for that purpose)
18:15 cait xarragon: it's not jessie i think - we are about to release 3.20
18:15 cait the dependencies are probably ont added yet to the koha-perl-deps thing...
18:16 cait yet
18:16 xarragon cait: Ah, right.. I only installed koha-deps. My mistake!
18:16 cait tcohen: is that about right?
18:18 cait xarragon: i hope i am telling you the right things :)
18:18 xarragon I am just thankful for all the help.
18:19 xarragon I reinstalled this machine just for the Koha development, and debian snuck this new version in under the radar for me.. So I have spent most time just hitting it with a stick to get off the ground and actually been able to focus on koha development.
18:23 cait i run ubuntu, but hope there won't beany problems
18:23 cait xarragon: where are you from?
18:24 xarragon cait: Sweden
18:24 cait ah cool
18:25 cait i am in Germany :)
18:25 xarragon ah, Guten Abend!
18:25 xarragon cait: I was in franfurt am Main a few weeks agoe, visiting a friend.
18:25 cait :)
18:26 cait i am in Konstanz - at the lake Bodensee
18:35 xarragon cait: Oh, that's actually the same region of the country then.
18:35 cait not too far away
18:35 cait but different state :)
18:39 wnickc hi cait
18:49 cait hi wnickc :)
18:50 wnickc quick ubuntu question since you mentioned it before, does your zebra get out of whack on a restart?
18:52 cait wnickc: no - but that's on me
18:52 xarragon Does koha use local::lib for it's internal module loading?
18:53 xarragon Since it seems to use PERL5LIB?
18:53 cait xarragon: sorry, i don't know
18:53 xarragon Oh, well.. I'll know in time. This was what I wasted a lot of time looking at, figuring out how all the installation parts fit together.
18:54 cait wnickc: i mean i think it should work, but I probably didn't set it up correctlly
18:54 cait xarragon: I am sure someone else would know - but I am the wrong person to ask :)
18:57 xarragon Hmm, seems like I might not even needed sudo for make install, since the config stuff ends up under my home dir.
18:57 xarragon That, however, requires me to make it world-readable.
19:02 wnickc cait: yeah, I have to reload my database on a restart to get it going, something with the var/lock directories
19:02 wnickc it's fine since it's dev only and a workable workaround
19:02 wnickc just curious
19:03 cait wnickc: hm i only have to start the zebrasrv manually
19:03 cait never need to reindex
19:04 cait have you tried to create the directories it complains about?
19:06 eskaaren Which ubuntu version? On 14.04 the init.d scripts for mysql is not linked correctly to upstart so you get problems if using them. Use service mysql restart instead.
19:06 wnickc 14.04
19:07 wnickc only tried recreating once, I kind of figured it was my fault for running my dev setup on a celeron laptop :)
19:07 wnickc I will try that eskaaren
19:08 xarragon wnickc: The shame of running of a celeron would kill the process, or? :-)
19:09 xarragon wnickc: Because I am running it on a 10 year old laptop, so I think it will end badly for me as well if that is the case.
19:10 wnickc hehe
19:14 lletelier_ Hi guys, asking about ilsdi.pl , this API supports fines info ?
19:14 lletelier_ Hi guys, asking about ilsdi.pl , this API supports fines info ?
19:16 geek_cl ohhhh its show_fines :)
19:18 lletelier_ something like, cgi-bin/koha/ilsdi.pl?service=GetPatronInfo&patron_id=1&show_fines=0
19:18 * lletelier_ uh?
19:23 geek_cl or is like ? cgi-bin/koha/ilsdi.pl?service=GetPatronInfo&patron_id=1&show_fines=1
19:23 geek_cl anyone?
19:23 wahanui Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
19:25 xarragon Anyone else on jessie that has the default web page still show up despite disabling it, checking that there is NO symlink in /etc/apache2/sites-enabled and explicitly restarting/reloading the server via systemd?
19:26 xarragon I had this trouble before I even tried installing koha into the site structure.
19:26 geek_cl systemctl restart apache2/httpd
19:29 xarragon Well, I have done that.. And I actually accidentially symlinked the xml file into sites-enabled instead of the .conf-file, which made it choke on a restart.
19:30 xarragon Which i simply fixed, and it restarts/reloads correctly. I do have the rewrite module installed and enabled, if that could be the culprit.
19:30 cait so it still doesn't work?
19:30 cait and you a2disite the default one?
19:31 xarragon Yep, 'Site 000-default is already disabled'
19:31 xarragon But it is not koha-specifik, as i said, it is something present in the fresh install.
19:31 cait hm not sure then
19:32 tcohen hi
19:32 wahanui bonjour, tcohen
19:32 xarragon I will enable full logging and check it step by step
19:32 tcohen what is the problem?
19:32 wahanui the problem is it's human beings doing it. Rebuild your indexes.
19:33 xarragon Viktor: hello there.
19:35 tcohen xarragon: what is the problem?
19:35 wahanui the problem is it's human beings doing it. Rebuild your indexes.
19:40 cait hi Viktor :)
19:40 cait xarragon: just in case.. wahanui and huginn are our bots - don't let them confuse you
19:40 cait tcohen: the default apache site won't go away
19:42 Viktor Hi xarragon and Cait!
19:43 Viktor (if people are still around and I'm not just seing cached greetings from last time I opened the coputer that is :)
19:43 cait heh
19:44 cait we are real, don't worry
19:44 Viktor Glad to hear you are still both real and online cait :)
19:45 Viktor But since my "XChat Azure" have no timestamps for the chat I always wonder if I see old or current dialog :)
19:46 cait one of the reaosns i like pidgin :)
19:50 Viktor I just found one that worked and kept it, but I think it might be time to look for a new client.

21:24 JesseM Hi cait
21:24 JesseM I have a question for you
21:25 JesseM EnhancedMessagingPreferences - system preference. If you change it to 'don't allow' the notices tab from the patron record disappears as well. Is this supposed to happen?
21:27 pianohacker Didn't EnhancedMessagingPreferences die? (possibly wishful thinking...)
21:28 amyk heh
21:29 JesseM i think cait went to bed :D
21:29 JesseM its still there pianohacker
21:29 cait yes
21:29 cait it's turning off the feature totally
21:30 JesseM Okay. Thanks cait
21:30 cait there is a bug for just turning it off in the patron account somewhere in bugzilla
21:30 cait in case you don't want the patrons to change their settings
21:31 JesseM :D thanks cait
21:43 eythian hi
