Time Nick Message
00:00 mtj sorry, off-topic ^
00:01 bag no worries
00:01 bag ok I'm back
00:01 mtj hiya,
00:03 bag mtj http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Website_Administration
00:04 mtj bookmarked!
00:05 mtj awesome, thanks
00:07 mtj wizzyrea/rangi, could you d00dz give me upload privs, to the download box?
00:07 mtj sorry to hassle... i'm keen to sort the release today
00:08 mtj before the weekend :p
00:10 bag mtj it's hobbit premiere weekend right? is anyone there working?
00:11 mtj hey, i didnt even really know!
00:11 bag heh ;)
00:11 mtj im more of a harry potter guy myself...
00:11 bag we are supposed to get bucket loads of rain tonight - so I'm concentrating on that
00:11 mtj KIDDING!!?!?
00:11 bag /kick mtj (just kidding)
00:12 mtj its raining here too
00:20 mtj hey wiz, thanks for sorting my WP account
00:20 mtj ..the doing the release publish too
00:27 dcook ...
00:28 dcook I should double-check this on master, but on the Koha I'm looking at now...
00:28 dcook When you delete a biblio, it deletes entries from reserves, and sets biblionumber to null in old_reserves
00:29 dcook I can understand deleting a reserve... but an old_reserve should keep the biblionumber...
00:53 mtompset Greetings, #koha.
00:53 mtompset *ping* Anyone here?
00:54 pastebot "mtompset" at 127.0.0.1 pasted "Fresh Debian Git?!" (11 lines) at http://paste.koha-community.org/316
00:55 wajasu i git it
00:56 mtompset you git what?
00:56 mtompset Greetings, wajasu.
00:57 wajasu now maybe i can get the dbix schema loader test i wrote a year ago into test.
00:57 wajasu hopefully the schema is freindlier now.
01:03 mtompset But what do you think of my paste, wajasu?
01:09 wizzyrea mtj rangi is afk, and I've got to jet but I may get back to my desk a bit later.
01:09 wajasu as to what should or shoud not be required? what opts did you run your koha_perldeps.pl with?
01:10 tcohen none is required for production
01:11 mtj ta wizzyrea
01:12 mtj hey, add a --prod arg to the script, would be handy ^
01:12 dcook wajasu: dbix schema loader sux :p
01:12 mtj a prod/test option, for the script?
01:13 dcook It'll be a good day when we no longer have to use the schema loader
01:13 * dcook also waves to tcohen :)
01:13 mtompset tcohen: The DBIx::Class::Schema::Loader is required.
01:13 mtompset And the default version is LOWER than the listed requirement.
01:14 mtompset oh, it's not required for production?
01:15 mtompset Then the "required" isn't smart enough. :)
01:19 wajasu i wish we had a version smart script that: let us put versions with <= >= == for specified targets (squeeze, squeeze-test, jessie, jessie-test, ubunti-???, and would output debian.packages and such.
01:19 wajasu dev, test, prod
01:21 mtompset All I know is that the cleanness of our fresh installs has fallen back a bit, because of things like this. :)
01:21 mtompset (requirements not being high enough versions from default repos)
01:24 wajasu it was this that i played with a year ago. https://metacpan.org/pod/Test::DBIx::Class::Schema
01:25 wajasu i wanted to get so unit tests in for the DBIx layer. one might just write their own similiar tests at some point.
01:28 mtompset I succeeded at getting Test::DBIx::Class into Jessie the other day, and Ubuntu 14.04 another. I could get it into Ubuntu 12.04.
01:28 mtompset ^could^couldn't^
01:29 wajasu i even had the author patch it for me. see issue https://github.com/chiselwright/test-dbix-class-schema/issues/8
01:29 wajasu man. that was sept 28th 2012.
01:29 wajasu time sure flies.
01:31 wajasu you might try writing a similiar test class that might cater to our environment to forego the added dependency.
01:48 dcook wizzyrea: eythian still at kiwicon, eh?
01:49 mtompset Have a great day, #koha dcook wajasu mtj
01:53 dcook Anyone else familiar with packages around?
01:53 dcook I haven't used the Koha deb packages in ages, but I recall that you can specify your own root password
01:54 dcook But koha-create and such are able to bypass that to create new users...
01:56 wajasu i only recall that you can specify -use-db if you create the db manually
01:58 dcook Aha
01:58 dcook --defaults-extra-file=/etc/mysql/koha-common.cnf
02:00 dcook I recalled eythian saying long ago that there was a tricksy way of doing it
02:09 dcook Not sure how the koha-common.cnf file is created... just that it's a clone of debian.cnf
02:09 dcook koha-common.postinst: ln -s debian.cnf "$conf"
02:09 dcook there we go
02:36 wajasu you good
02:36 wajasu package building is a twisty little maze of passages
02:40 dcook And I'm not even package building :)
02:40 dcook Using Chef to set up an environment for Koha on AWS
03:14 wajasu cool
04:35 dcook Yikes... that AWS instance took 30 minutes to install, and that was the most vanilla instance I could make
04:35 dcook No customization at all
04:37 dcook The customized instance was... 3:46 to 3:53... so 7 minutes
04:38 dcook I suppose Ubuntu's servers could've slowed it down...
04:38 dcook Internet connection between them at least playing up..
05:14 dcook Hmm, it would be good if the source install of Koha matched the Debian package model more..
05:14 dcook Actually, maybe it does if you do the FHS option for the source install
05:15 dcook I guess even then it wouldn't quite
06:45 dcook yo cait
06:45 cait yo dcook
07:14 * magnuse waves
07:41 reiveune hello

10:21 * ashimema is on a bug opening spree
10:22 ashimema AmitG, assuming you mean eythian I don't think we're in his awake time for his time zone at the moment mate..
10:22 ashimema and.. he's at kiwicon this week.. so may not be monitoring here regardless of timezone issues ;)
10:23 ashimema @later tell bag awesome man, colins on leave now till early next week.. but if I get a chance I'll take a look myself.
10:23 huginn ashimema: The operation succeeded.
13:02 cait anyone around using RFID or 'self return'?
13:03 oleonard Hi #koha
13:06 cait hi oleonard :)
13:11 drojf cait: not yet
13:11 drojf but my raspi reads rfid now
13:11 drojf :)
13:12 cait i am looking for a nice solution to filter out the items that need to go on the hold sshelf
13:12 cait from the return cart
13:12 cait and a solution for: cannot be checked out at the self check
13:12 cait but at the circulation desk
13:12 cait if i use a nfl value... you can't put holds on it
13:13 cait a separate itemtype with 0 max checkouts and override at the circ desk? also a bit clumsy
13:15 drojf hm yes that seems odd for day to day use
13:15 cait and the items are different
13:15 cait some are cds with too much metal apparently - so the rfid tags won't work
13:16 drojf so you already have a solution for cannot be checked out at self check :P
13:17 drojf i thought you wanted to prevent that ;)
13:17 cait heh
13:17 cait well it's one of the things, but some have to go over the circ desk for other reaosns
13:20 druthb       cait++
13:20 drojf druthb!
13:20 cait so i get karma for not having a good solution?
13:20 cait hmpf.
13:20 druthb drojf!
13:20 druthb You get karma for being cait.
13:21 cait hmpf
13:21 drojf maybe ask me again once i am through gazillion rfid papers i just gathered ;)
13:21 drojf *a
13:21 cait keep it in mind then :)
13:22 drojf i can read and write to a tag. but no idea what to put there yet :D
13:25 cait what data model is on the tag? danish?
13:26 drojf none yet. i am trying to find out how the danish one works. i have a basic idea. since i am not going to buy the iso documents for a few hundred bucks i'll have to read around a bit i guess
13:29 drojf are these things encrapted these days? otherwise i should probably just get a book from a library and have a look :)
13:30 cait i wonder if you could put a flag on the tag itself - not for self check
13:30 oleonard Anyone have anything they're dying for me to look at before I disappear for the rest of the year?
13:34 drojf cait: there is a "ausleihstatus" tag with "ausleihbar" and "präsenz" (among others), but there may be better options. and of course i don't know what self check machines make out of that
13:37 cait me neither, but the message might b better than when you tinker with the circ rules
13:37 cait if the self check says max checkouts reached... and it's supposed to mean you can check it out at the circ desk?
13:37 cait oleonard: you go on vacation?
13:37 cait until january!? :)
13:38 oleonard Yup. Working today and Monday, and then off.
13:39 oleonard Saved up vacation for a summer trip and then never took one. Now I've got to use it or lose it.
13:42 cait aah
13:42 cait i am not aware of something - but i am behind reading bug mail
13:45 carmenh Good morning /good afternoon/ good evening #koha :D …
13:46 magnuse oleonard: good for you! :-)
13:49 mveron Hi #koha
13:49 drojf hi mveron :)
13:50 mveron hi drojf :-)
13:53 cait hi mveron
13:53 cait :)
13:53 mveron hi cait :-)
15:21 mveron cait and drojf: Do you have similar translation problems? "Ändern Kind Benutzer Hansli Meier" or "Ändern Erwachsener Benutzer Henry Acevedo"
15:22 mveron in Start › Benutzer › Henry Acevedo › Ändern Erwachsener Benutzer
15:23 cait mveron: the probem is, i think, the way the breadcrumbs are built
15:24 mveron cyit: ...and the H1 titles...
15:24 cait i think it#s one of the cases where the sentence is if elsed together, there are some of those in patrons
15:24 cait yeah
15:24 cait i meant to clean that up ages ago - never got to it :(
15:24 mveron cait: Yes, it looks very complicated...
15:24 cait there also some not so nice headingson the patron form
15:24 cait i once started but got too confused
15:25 * mveron was confused too...
15:25 cait but that was pre TT :)
15:25 mveron cait: I will file a bug - pro memoria
15:25 cait i think "Benutzer Hansli Maier (Kind) bearbeiten" could look better
15:26 mveron Yes, indeed...
15:26 cait i wonder if it wouldn't be nicer to display the patron category instead... but not sure
15:26 cait (Student) :)
15:32 mveron cait: An other problem for multi language countries is the translation of patron categories, we would need e.g. "Kind" or "Enfant" depending on the selected language...
15:32 cait hm?
15:33 cait but doesn#t it do that?
15:33 drojf sorry i was shopping :)
15:33 mveron cait: Oh, I will try!
15:33 cait i think it shows the "category" so what you pick in the pull down in the patron category - that should (in theory) be translatable :)
15:35 cait but the sequence is still... :(
15:36 drojf when i try to add a new patron the categories show up in german even when i switch to english. or do you mean something else?
15:40 mveron drojf: Yes. It takes the Category name (Kind,Jugendlicher etc. as set in Patron category administration), not the type (both have the type "child/kind = translated").
15:41 mveron So we should be able to give translations in Patron category adminsitration.
15:42 mveron Something like "Category name: 'Kid|Kind|Enfant'"
15:51 cait hm i am confused now
15:51 cait i am pretty sure Kind is not from the database - unless you named your patron category so?
15:52 cait oh
15:52 cait reading back it makes sense no, never mind
15:54 mveron I foeld Bug 13450
15:54 huginn 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=13450 minor, P5 - low, ---, koha-bugs, NEW , Title and breadcrumb of Patron form can look weird in translations
15:54 mveron filed...
15:54 cait it's getting late, we should call it a weekend :)
15:57 mveron cait: What are you going to cook?
15:58 cait hm not sure yet :)
15:59 cait maybe i will buy soemthing on the christmas market - i have spanish class tonight
15:59 ashimema hwos the kitchen now you've had it a while cait..
15:59 ashimema still enjoying cooking?
15:59 mveron I can suggest something very fast: http://youtu.be/lkaIoH6Um60
15:59 mveron :-)
16:00 cait the kitchen is perfect, but i didn't have much time for cooking lately :(
16:01 cait especially having a real oven is great
16:01 mveron hmm, maybe cait's kitchen would be too small for my suggestion...
16:01 cait def :)
16:04 drojf when you have to clean the kitchen yourself afterwards it's not that fast, alltogether ;)
16:04 cait ok, time to leave :)
16:04 cait bye all
16:04 oleonard Bye cait
16:08 bag @seen ashimema
16:08 huginn bag: ashimema was last seen in #koha 9 minutes and 13 seconds ago: <ashimema> still enjoying cooking?
16:08 bag sweet thanks ashimema
16:08 cait oleonard: have a nice vacation :)
16:09 ashimema :)
16:09 bag have a nice vacation oleonard
16:10 * oleonard is still here through Monday
16:16 reiveune bye
16:18 martinmorris Good morning, I sent an email to the koha-translate mailing list recently asking for a new language to be added. Anybody here connected with that? Just that it hasn’t been added and I wondered if I could help in any way?
16:20 mtompset Greetings, #koha.
16:20 pastebot "mtompset" at 127.0.0.1 pasted "Why do my tests fail on master? (prove -r t)" (30 lines) at http://paste.koha-community.org/319
16:21 mtompset How do I install all the default data?
16:26 mtompset Okay, Holidays debugged.
16:39 mveron martinmorris:Normally it is done very quickly. Maybe you should send a gentle reminder to the koha-translate mailing ist. Oh, Esperanto! Nice!
16:39 martinmorris Great, thanks mveron! And yes, should be a fun translation (and necessary for our group).
16:49 gaetan_B bye
16:57 martinmorris I remember that I have another really odd question. I’m using 3.16, in Firefox on OS X Yosemite, and the US Extended character set. In the staff interface (and not the OPAC, nor anywhere else), when typing alt+u (for example, to type ä or ü), the brower goes to the checkout screen and beeps at me. I can’t see an obvious setting to change this.
17:00 jcamins martinmorris: yeah, that's really annoying. I used JavaScript to disable it.
17:00 * mveron has to run...
17:01 martinmorris Very annoying! Can you tell me how you did that?
17:01 mveron Good daytime everybody!
17:02 jcamins Yeah, very easy: Nvmophylacivm Mansbergianvm: Qvod collegit Anthon Adam a Mansberg, Regis Magnæ Britanniæ ...
17:02 jcamins Uhhh... no, not that...
17:02 oleonard jcamins is up to black magic again
17:02 jcamins      shortcut.remove('Alt+r'); shortcut.remove('Alt+u'); shortcut.remove('Alt+q');
17:03 bag bug 13023
17:03 huginn 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=13023 enhancement, P5 - low, ---, kyle, Signed Off , Nonpublic note for items should be mapped to a database column like itemnotes
17:03 martinmorris and I add that to the relevant pages?
17:03 martinmorris (I’m not a programmer at all!)
17:05 jcamins jquery library?
17:05 wahanui jquery library is found at http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/JQuery_Library
17:05 jcamins Follow the instructions on that page.
17:05 martinmorris lovely, thanks jcamins!
17:05 jcamins It goes inside $(document).ready(function () { ... }); in intranetuserjs.
17:07 yhager I think overdue email lists all checkouts, not only overdue ones. Is this a known issue (3.18.1)?
17:08 martinmorris works a treat, thanks so much!
17:09 jcamins You're welcome. I spend a surprising amount of time on Fridays typing umlauts, so the shortcut really got in the way.
17:09 jcamins I rarely need to type 'Å“', but it has happened, actually.
17:11 yhager bug #13035 looks very similar to what I see, but it was handled 2 months ago...
17:11 huginn 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=13035 major, P5 - low, ---, rkopaczka, Pushed to Master , Overdue notices send notices for due date in future.
17:34 yhager I also have this in my cron results, not sure it's related: Use of uninitialized value $borrowernumber in string eq at /usr/share/koha/bin/cronjobs/overdue_notices.pl line 544.
18:26 tcohen hi
18:26 wahanui hola, tcohen
18:27 drojf hi tcohen
18:41 jcamins drojf: any idea what "insgemein" meant in 1778?
18:43 drojf jcamins: it's an old version of 'insgesamt', meaning altogether, overall
18:43 jcamins Ah-ha!
18:43 jcamins Thanks.
18:45 oleonard Ah so that's why you stick around jcamins ;)
18:46 jcamins oleonard: yep. Where else would I get instant translations from German, French, and Spanish?
18:46 drojf heh
18:48 * oleonard waits for magnuse to object
18:48 jcamins oleonard: I rarely have any Norwegian that needs translation.
18:48 * oleonard waits for magnuse to object again!
18:48 jcamins oleonard: though, actually, I guess I have had to ask magnuse to translate things once or twice.
19:34 cait drojf: you stole my german question!
19:35 drojf you said you'd be doing spanish tonight :)
19:36 cait if i can't help jcamins with the trnslations, he might stop to answer all my zebra questions! :)

21:55 tcohen hi
21:57 mtompset Greetings, tcohen.
21:57 mtompset I had fun cleaning up some tests.
21:58 mtompset 13451, 13453, 13455, and 13456.
21:58 tcohen mtompset: I noticed!
21:59 mtompset Noisy tests makes it hard to test MY code.
22:00 tcohen mtompset: I'd like to see more unit tests, db-independent ones, with mocked stuff
22:01 mtompset Someone else can do that. I just fixing what is there. :)
22:01 tcohen       mtompset++
22:06 bag heya tcohen
22:06 tcohen hi bag
22:08 * cait waves
22:09 tcohen hi cait!
22:29 * mtompset grumbles about Reserves.t, SIP_ILS.t, and www/batch.t
22:30 mtompset Well, 5 out of 8 is good enough for today, right? :)
22:48 tcohen @later tell paul_p I got addicted to some candies you brought, shame on you!
22:48 huginn tcohen: The operation succeeded.
22:49 cait :)
22:50 mtompset tcohen: Hmmm... I've been trying to figure out the www/batch.t problem... And it isn't loading the table data.
22:50 mtompset Which is why the test fails.
22:50 mtompset Did we change tables on the import MARC page?
22:51 tcohen do u have it set correctly?
22:51 mtompset i'm thinking the underlying technology requires some jquery callback to trigger a table refresh or something, which doesn't happen in Test::WWW::Mechanize
22:51 tcohen (the vhost name, etc)
22:52 mtompset the intranet one is, and that's the test that is failing. ;)
22:52 mtompset I think.
22:53 mtompset How do I check?
22:55 tcohen ah, we added the template name as a comment
22:56 tcohen mtompset: is this what you see? http://snag.gy/1xxiI.jpg
22:57 mtompset Yes.
22:58 mtompset I did a print STDERR $agent->content(), and there is no <td> data.
23:05 tcohen mtompset: will you fix it?
23:05 mtompset I don't know how to fix it.
23:05 mtompset If the page returned the table data, then there wouldn't be any problems.
23:07 mtompset If you recall, we've been going through and converting data tables.
23:07 mtompset from one thing to another.
23:07 mtompset And that has broken this.
23:07 mtompset That's my guess.
23:12 tcohen it seems so
23:25 mtompset Anyways... i need to run.
23:25 mtompset Have a great weekend, #koha.
