02:31 rangi yep
04:08 mtompset Okay... I'm feeling like a dunce here. I have an eleven patch bug fix I wish to attach, but it's not git bz attaching it. It returns a page saying I need to log in. What don't I have set correctly?
04:08 eythian you're possibly on an old version of git bz
04:09 mtompset I was thinking that. but when I went over to my git-bz directory the git pull says I'm up to date.
04:09 eythian you're on the right branch?
04:10 mtompset let me check again...
04:10 eythian (fishsoup iirc)
04:11 mtompset Yes, I am on the correct branch.
04:12 eythian hmm
04:12 eythian changed password? they're set right in the config?
04:12 eythian after this, I'm out of ideas
04:12 eythian does git bz have a login process? (I can't remember)
04:16 mtompset how do I specific a particular bug number?
04:16 mtompset Sorry... it's past midnight, grammar fading.
04:16 mtompset git bz attach ... what?
04:17 eythian git bz attach 1234 HEAD or similar, iirc
04:23 * mtompset shrugs. Oh well. Got it to work on my Ubuntu VM.

12:56 barton Does anyone have experience with indexing the marc21 880 field? It's 'alternate graphic representation' and might contain a hebrew, cyrillic, arabic version of a piece of text. ... the tricky part is that there's a 'linkage' field that points back to the text being translated...
12:57 barton the linkage is in $6 -- alll other subfields describe the field being pointed to.
12:58 barton so if the $6 field points to a '100' field, 880$a contains the alternate representation of a name, if $6 contains 245, 880$a is a title, etc.
12:59 ashimema I'm game for Germany 2016 ;)
13:00 cait barton: it would probably be doable with DOM
13:00 barton mir ist das guet
13:00 cait but... needs development
13:00 cait it's not there currently
13:00 barton nod.
13:00 cait the trick would be to not just index 880 as any, but into the correct indexes
13:01 barton right.
13:02 barton I'll have to talk to the partner to find out how far they want to go with that...
13:06 barton right now, I'm more concerned about things like the fact that if 880$6 points to 260, $c is a date (wouldn't be in hebrew) , whereas 245$c is 'statement of responsibility', which would have a hebrew representation... I don't necessarily think that they want all of the fields indexed perfectly, but I don't want corrupted data.
13:08 rangi cait: https://www.eff.org/https-everywhere
13:09 cait barton: i think for display it might be nice to fill out the date too

14:22 barton tcohen I have a partner who is looking to index marc21 880 records, i.e. 'Alternate Graphic Representation'... the $6 subfield is a 'linkage' that describes which code the field is the representation of, and a couple of things about the representation, e.g. the script used (Cyrillic, Hebrew, Arabic etc) and the orientation (left to right, right to left, etc) ... all of the other subfields match the field that is pointed to... so if 880$6 ind
14:24 tcohen barton: is it something everyone could benefit of, or just custom stuff you have?

14:25 barton tcohen I think that it's fairly generically applicable... it would be extending Koha's implementation of the marc21 standard.
14:26 cait tcohen: it's in the standard - we got a library tht would like it too :)

14:53 bag hola
14:53 cait because people shift data now
14:53 marcelr it would be strange, but is possible
14:53 cait they might still catalog both as some systems are not RDA ready
14:53 marcelr yes but i mean in one record
14:54 cait yes me too :)
14:54 cait I know a lot of libraires export their data for uploading into other systems
14:54 cait or for use in databases etc
14:54 cait i think for the transition time that can take a while, it's a not to unlikely possibility to have both
14:55 marcelr if it is a problem, we can solve that
14:55 cait i am not usre how our union catalog will deal with it, buti think we might have both fields too
14:55 cait i think your patch doesn't remove it, it just seems to prefer 260 for now?
14:55 marcelr i have to look at the patch again but is already some time ago ..

14:58 cait so 264 is repeatable, as 260 is
14:58 marcelr yes
14:58 cait why not display all of them?
14:58 marcelr might be a lot of info
14:58 marcelr it makes a smart selection
14:59 cait hm not sure
14:59 cait if someone catalogs them, they might want to see?
14:59 cait but the other patches already passed and we will need time to figure out what people want
14:59 cait hard to tell right now
14:59 marcelr inspired by the fact that it is actually the publisher line
14:59 cait [1] Try to select a Publisher -- Latest. Pick first one.
14:59 cait [2] Else try to select a Publisher. Pick the last one.
14:59 cait should the 2] be publisher or something else?
15:00 marcelr yes it always looks for a publisher first
15:00 marcelr one of the indicators tells you if it is the latest or ..
15:00 cait aah
15:00 cait 'publisher - latest'
15:00 marcelr normally they should have a latest
15:00 marcelr but if you forget the indicator. it still picks one
15:01 cait alright
15:01 cait understood
15:01 marcelr maybe not so trivial as i recollected :)
15:01 marcelr but quite foolproof, i hope
15:01 cait marcelr: i think you used the same logic on all patches?
15:01 cait or i hope so :)
15:02 marcelr yes
15:02 marcelr i moved it to a util
15:03 cait i like that :)
15:03 marcelr there is only redundancy between opac and staff
15:03 marcelr unfortunately
15:03 cait yeah, but at least it is less redundant than before
15:03 cait bit more centralized now
15:04 marcelr but is the same code
15:05 cait passing :)
15:06 reiveune bye
15:06 marcelr         thx cait++
15:06 cait i think time will tell if we got it right with RDA
15:06 cait it's still bit mysterious to me
15:06 marcelr not hard to adjust
15:06 cait nope
15:06 cait and we need to start
15:07 cait            marcelr++ # RDA!
15:07 cait marcelr: could you give 13071 qa? i signed off on it

15:08 cait it's kind of a weird error that occurrd on my system and might not be reproducable, but the fix is pretty easy
15:08 cait it was using the date plugin AND format_date
15:08 marcelr will have a look, mabye tomorrow
15:08 cait thx
15:09 marcelr have to go ; bye all

15:54 gentlemanbeggar Ok, so I cheated, and just downloaded the koha live-dvd and did the full install onto a server. I've imported all my patron data and my catalog data from Athena, but I'll be dogged if I can figure out this circulation business. I have zero experience with perl, and I'm not sure how to make a direct connection into the mysql on the linux server from my windows desktop. Basically, I'm 5 years old, and have no idea what I'm doing. HELP!
15:55 cait you don't need to know perl to set up circulation rules
15:55 cait I'd recommend installing with the packages for a production installation
15:56 cait I am not sure how the live dvd is set up

16:02 rangi and the schema if you are trying to import old circ data

16:04 rangi also https://gitorious.org/koha-migration-toolbox
16:06 bag manual?
16:06 wahanui i think manual is at http://www.koha-community.org/documentation
16:07 gentlemanbeggar Yeah, I've looked at the migration toolbox, but I can't make heads or tails of how to actually use it. I've looked at all the documentation I can find about converting the two files from athena to something useful for koha, but again, I think I'm thick, because I have yet to figure out how to do what they say to do.
16:08 gentlemanbeggar They all say to run this perl script, but I'm not sure if I run it on the koha server or somewhere else then import to koha, or what
16:08 gentlemanbeggar I'm not even entirely sure *how* to run it.
16:08 gentlemanbeggar like I said, "basically, I'm 5"
16:08 gentlemanbeggar I feel like an idiot.
16:12 bag ah gentlemanbeggar it took me years to get comfortable installing koha - but now it's about 10 times easier than it used to be.
16:13 bag I think the best thing is to read the different documents and then try somethings
16:13 tgoat Good morning Koha peeps! Im coming to you live from beautiful Reno/Tahoe .. whazzzzup :D Just wanna say that you guys are “da BOMB!” :D
16:13 bag usually you want to have all your data (marc records) in a good file and then import those into koha
16:13 bag the nice thing is that you can use the staff side to import your records
16:14 bag look at different information in the manual gentlemanbeggar
16:14 bag good morning tgoat
16:14 bag what's the weather like there tgoat ?
16:14 gentlemanbeggar Is it possible to import circulation history?
16:14 bag @wunder reno nv
16:14 huginn bag: The current temperature in UNR Campus, LMR Roof, Reno, Nevada is 10.4°C (9:13 AM PDT on October 16, 2014). Conditions: Mostly Cloudy. Humidity: 59%. Dew Point: 3.0°C. Pressure: 30.06 in 1018 hPa (Rising).
16:14 gentlemanbeggar or am I barking up the wrong tree entirely?
16:14 bag gentlemanbeggar: to import your circulation history - that would need to be done on the commandline.
16:14 tgoat morning bag :D
16:15 gentlemanbeggar right... using a perl script...
16:15 cait packing up for lunch
16:15 cait see you all soon :)
16:15 bag yes. Usually what we do is get the circulation history into a csv (spreadsheet)
16:16 bag we then use the item-barcode and the patron-barcode to match (since koha uses an itemnumber and borrowernumber.
16:17 gentlemanbeggar Okay, son in athena, you've got 2 files that actually track circ history... why they split it up is beyond me
16:17 gentlemanbeggar circ.cir and stat.cir
16:18 gentlemanbeggar I assume I have to find a way to merge those first?
16:18 tcohen have to run
16:18 bag or just see how different they are
16:18 tcohen jenkins will build correctly now
16:18 bag later tcohen
16:21 gentlemanbeggar ok, well, I'll keep plugging at it.
16:27 ashimema Indeed.. I've taken a look at the test patch.. thanks rangi, tcohen
16:27 ashimema makes good sense..

18:28 magnuse he's asleep

18:29 magnuse 7 weeks with him this summer + 1 day per week until xmas, all paid for by our taxes ;-)

18:39 magnuse man, i love the koha-* scripts
18:47 bag yeah me too

18:50 bag yes that one :)
18:50 magnuse maybe we need to start a nagging campaign...
18:50 bag once we get a few more patches pushed to master we should be able to roll that package :D
18:50 magnuse w00t
18:50 bag I nagged yesterday I think - will set reminder for next monday
18:50 magnuse :-)
18:51 magnuse i have one library that is dying to use plack
18:51 magnuse and OPL are pretty interested too
18:56 talljoy I want to move in too! i'll bring the butler. he can straighten up after all of us!
18:56 magnuse talljoy: you're in!
18:57 talljoy sweet. how are the flights to Norway?
18:57 bag ok talljoy is in and I am out :P
18:57 talljoy as long as I don't have to go through Chile, I'm alright!
18:57 bag magnuse: yes I can't wait for plack
18:57 magnuse lol
18:57 talljoy :-)
18:57 bag magnuse: I actually have one library opac on plack and I'm getting ready to do a few more
18:57 magnuse cool
18:58 bag https://library.washoecounty.us/
18:58 jcamins talljoy: if you'd gotten stuck in BA you could've learned tango when your flight was canceled!
18:58 magnuse talljoy: i *think* you will find the flights to norway less, um, interesting than what you are used to
18:58 talljoy ha!
18:59 talljoy i only travel with my butler, so i can only go as far as American Airlines flies.... probably someplace in Europe. then i'm on my own.
18:59 jcamins magnuse: the one time anyone in my family was trying to fly to Norway, a volcano erupted in Iceland, completely canceling all the flights.
18:59 talljoy yes, i remember that. everything got fubarred with that.
19:00 jcamins We were due to fly to Iceland either that day or the day after.
19:01 talljoy lot of people stranded in a lot of places across europe due to that.
19:03 jcamins Oh, no, looks like there was more time between the eruption and our trip than I remembered.
19:03 jcamins A few weeks. There were still no flights to Reykjavik.
19:04 magnuse but don't blame norway for that ;-)
19:04 talljoy true that!
19:04 magnuse talljoy: just bring some butter and you will be ok
19:04 jcamins magnuse: no, but we were only going to Iceland to get to Norway.
19:04 talljoy butter?
19:04 wahanui butter is mtompset's guess. I really don't know.
19:04 jcamins Well, Shari was. I was going to Iceland because they had free layoverrs.
19:05 magnuse talljoy: ask jcamins
19:05 jcamins talljoy: the Norwegian butter crisis!
19:05 jcamins It was really bad!
19:05 talljoy i missed that in the news.
19:05 jcamins norwegian butter crisis?
19:05 jcamins butter crisis?
19:06 jcamins wahanui: Norwegian butter crisis is the worst thing for slice bread since the butter battle.
19:06 wahanui OK, jcamins.
19:06 talljoy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norwegian_butter_crisis
19:06 talljoy smør-panik
19:06 talljoy new favorite word.
19:06 jcamins Yeah, everyone always thinks I'm joking when I tell them about it.
19:07 cait hi talljoy :)
19:07 talljoy hi cait!! how's cordoba?
19:07 cait heard that your flight got complicated again?
19:07 cait hot!
19:07 cait rangi is out shopping (or napping) and i am packing...
19:07 talljoy yes it did. apparently LAN Chile decided I didn't need to return home and cancelled my reservation from SCL to DFW.
19:07 talljoy and noone knows why. so i'm in the process of writing strongly worded letters.
19:08 cait aah
19:09 cait :( i was so sure it would work this time
19:09 cait seemed like you had enough of bad luck for a while
19:10 magnuse i am waiting for the book. "The peregrinations of Talljoy"
19:11 talljoy i may just write that magnuse!
19:12 talljoy except people may think it is fiction. tcohen didn't believe my story when I told it. :-D
19:12 talljoy and really...how could i make all that up?
19:13 magnuse lol
19:14 jcamins talljoy: what happened on the way out? I missed that.
19:14 talljoy LAN Chile cancelled my reservation for the final leg home.
19:15 talljoy itinerary had 4 segments and the first 3 were ok. but i was not on the passenger rolls for the ride home.
19:15 jcamins Right, that I knew.
19:15 jcamins I didn't realize that you had any unusual difficulties on your way to Argentina, though.
19:15 talljoy oh yes.
19:15 talljoy from SCl to COR i flew over the andes 3 times. couldn't land in COR due to weather.
19:16 talljoy at least the view was spectacular. the Andes are amazing.
19:16 jcamins lol
19:17 jcamins Wow.
19:17 talljoy you knew about the first part to Chile, yes?
19:18 talljoy fog birds bus ride, etc etc.
19:19 jcamins Oh, yeah, I did hear about that.
19:19 * jcamins had forgotten.
19:19 bag Yeah I want to see the Andes sometime - both times I fly over those talljoy it was the middle of the night so I couldn't see anything
19:19 talljoy they are spectacular.
19:19 talljoy truly amazing.
19:20 * magnuse wants to go to macchu picchu some time...
19:21 talljoy i would too....but that would involve more interaction with LAN Chile.
19:22 talljoy or LAN Peru
19:22 talljoy either way. :-P
19:24 jcamins talljoy: ever flown Ariana?
19:24 bag HA talljoy tgoat went in Jan and didn't have a problem
19:24 tgoat Peru was great in Jan
19:25 talljoy never flown ariana jcamins
19:25 talljoy bag tgoat probably jumped off the airplane at 25K feet and parachuted into Macchu Picchu
19:25 tgoat I know I would!
19:26 bag oh man I would love to do that
19:26 jcamins talljoy: don't.
19:26 talljoy noted jcamins
19:26 tgoat not much agl at 25,000 above macchu picchu
19:26 talljoy shouldn't stop you.
19:26 tgoat give me 35,000 agl and im in!
19:26 magnuse agl?
19:26 tgoat above ground level
19:27 magnuse ah
19:27 talljoy tgoat --wuss
19:27 talljoy less room=more excitement.
19:27 tgoat right ..
19:27 talljoy and maybe some broken bones..
19:27 talljoy or all of them.
19:27 talljoy whatev
19:27 tgoat base jumps are fun but not much visual and too much pucker factor
19:28 jcamins I just found out that a colleague does skydiving yesterday.
19:28 tgoat nice!
19:28 tgoat I think our KohaCon 2016 should be at a drop zone in the carribean!
19:29 * magnuse would vote for the carribean
19:30 talljoy i would too!
19:31 tgoat http://www.puertoricoskydiving.com/
19:31 * JesseM agrees with magnuse too
19:32 tgoat http://skydivearuba.com/
19:33 jcamins There could be a competition: "everyone has written a patch for Koha at 10k feet, but how many have written a patch for Koha while accelerating at 9.81ms^2?
19:33 jcamins Who can be first?"
19:34 tgoat That’s be awesome .. no presure.?! http://youtu.be/TQ8RLpbgy8E
19:34 bag yeah I'd vote for the carribean too
19:38 talljoy are there any koha libraries in the carribean? who do i need to contact to get this going. ;-)
19:39 * magnuse calls it a day - have fun #koha!
19:39 bag well talljoy I don't know if you need to have a koha library there - you just need to volunteer to host
19:39 bag later magnuse - be excellent dood
19:40 talljoy later magnuse
19:41 talljoy http://koha-community.org/koha-newsletter-volume-2issue-5-may-2011/#Guyana
19:41 talljoy Guyana!!!
19:41 talljoy are they still on Koha?
19:42 ashimema looks like koha to me ;)
19:42 ashimema http://library.uog.edu.gy:81/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl

19:45 JesseM Cool video tgoat

20:06 bag hopefully you are feeling well enough for your training next week? (It's next week right)?
20:06 carmenh yup … sorry about everything though … bad season with sickness :(
20:07 bag yeah JesseM's kid has been sick - tis the season
20:07 bag Ginny got hand, foot, and mouth disease from her school
20:08 talljoy it happens
20:14 carmenh I am here though if anyone needs me to do anything … i was planning on finalizing my outline for Uintah today but I am available for anything :) … anything Bywater and Koha related anyway LOL
20:15 bag good luck that training is going to be important :) more prep the better
20:27 ashimema reinstalling a server at 9.30pm always seesm a good idea untill you come to do it :(
20:27 wizzyrea haha
20:27 ashimema it's gonna be a long night..
20:27 talljoy HA!

20:28 talljoy so success albeit bumpy
20:28 wizzyrea \o/
21:20 eythian hi
21:20 eythian wahanui: status
21:20 wahanui Since Wed Jun 25 06:09:14 2014, there have been 2110 modifications and 703 questions. I have been awake for 113 days, 15 hours, 11 minutes, 14 seconds this session, and currently reference 39572 factoids. Addressing is in optional mode.
21:23 magnuse kia ora eythian
21:26 eythian hiya magnuse
21:27 magnuse eythian: http://git.catalyst.net.nz/gw?p=koha-plack.git;a=tree;f=koha needs an update for the Apache .conf site config thing (i meant to do a patch for it, but then i abandoned koha-plack in favour of the koha.psgi/plackup.sh that dpavlin got into koha, for the kohadevbox thing)
21:27 eythian ah yeah
21:27 eythian I should do that
21:27 magnuse 't would be cool
21:28 magnuse do you/chris h. plan on getting koha-plack into koha eventually?
21:28 eythian (keeping in mind that koha-plack is intended to be a stopgap until we get it really built in to packages. Srdjan made some patches to help with that I need to look at. All I really need is all the time in the world :)
21:28 magnuse hehe
21:29 magnuse koha-plack can't handle gitified sites either
21:29 cait holy eythian
21:29 eythian magnuse: yeah, I'm not surprised
21:29 eythian cait: I missed my own deification!
21:29 magnuse becaus gitify replaces an include with an include that is something-git-something, and koha-plack looks for the original include
21:29 cait hola...
21:30 cait gr.
21:30 cait eythian: not sure if we still need the test::dbix::class packaged - tomas and rangi made it so the tests are skipped if it's not there
21:30 eythian ah, good
21:30 cait but i think we still need another dependency for magnuse's patch for the norwegian library card
21:30 eythian yep
21:30 cait i noted it on the bug i think
21:32 magnuse yeah, and eythian commented on it
21:32 magnuse bug 11401
21:32 huginn 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=11401 enhancement, P5 - low, ---, magnus, Failed QA , Add support for Norwegian national library card
21:32 cait all good then
21:32 magnuse it would be nice to have test::dbix::class packaged - there might be more code using it over time, perhaps
21:32 magnuse a bit sad to skip lots of tests because it is missing
21:33 eythian I'm a little afraid of packaging that as I wouldn't be surprised to find it's terrible.
21:33 eythian Especially to get it compatible with older distros
21:33 eythian I'd quite like to phase out support for squeeze one of these days...
21:33 eythian ...first I'd have to upgrade all our servers...
21:34 eythian (well, the older ones, anyway)
21:34 magnuse hehe
21:34 magnuse no rush then!
21:35 eythian I don't mind skipping them too much. I think it'd be good to throw a big warning, but people doing testing should know to CPAN it or whatever.
21:35 magnuse true
21:35 eythian I'm not sure how they should know that, but there should be a way.
21:36 cait eythian: i think it uses Moose
21:36 eythian AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
21:36 eythian I mean
21:36 eythian that makes it complicated
21:36 magnuse i'll be working on a new patch for 11401 tomorrow - better catch some sleep now. have fun #koha!
21:36 eythian cya magnuse
21:36 cait tcohen and rangi can tell more
21:36 eythian Convert::BaseN looks easy to package
21:36 cait but they ooked into the dependencies and Moose was one
21:36 eythian I just did it
21:37 cait :)
21:37 cait was hoping that one would be easier
21:37 magnuse yay!
21:37 eythian I'll get it into jessie, and into the Koha repo.
21:37 cait            eythian++
21:38 magnuse         eythian++ yeah!
21:38 magnuse         and cait++
21:38 * magnuse is gone now, for reals
21:39 eythian oh, it has a copyright message. That's nice.
21:39 eythian I'm annoyed by the ones that don't
22:00 cait understandably
22:05 eythian OK, now just waiting for my ITP reply to come through, then I can submit that package to debian
22:11 eythian ah, and there it is
22:12 eythian hi tcohen
22:13 tcohen hi eythian
22:14 tcohen rangi: 8:30
22:14 tcohen ?
22:19 cait tcohen: yep
22:20 tcohen last night in argentina, so tell me what would you like to have for dinner
22:20 tcohen :-D
22:20 cait hm don't know
22:21 cait it's all been very good so far :)
22:21 cait i wil have a hard time going back on my diet at home :)
22:24 wizzyrea tcohen: http://www.koha-community.org/
22:25 bag tcohen: MEAT!!!
22:29 tcohen          wizzyrea++
22:29 * tcohen is on tethering-mode so bad connexion right now, cable company issues
22:29 tcohen we all need to be on diet after kohacon14
22:33 cait :)

23:16 ashimema We're rolled them into our packages here now.. working fantastically with our new mail setup :)

23:16 cait aah nice to hear that!
23:17 ashimema we're just testing it for you miss ;)
23:17 ashimema nothing like throwing customers onto somthing to find the cracks.. (not that I've let anything through the cracks during qa though aye ;) )

23:18 cait i tested it... it would bug me if i missed something
