08:13 rangi evening
08:13 rangi welcome to nonsensical mailing list emails evening ... 5 of them so far
08:45 magnuse kia ora rangi and #koha
08:46 kf kia ora everyone :)
08:50 magnuse :-)
09:05 mtj lol, classic stuff :)
09:06 mtj wait….
09:07 rangi yeah that was my fave
09:07 kf oh what did I miss? :)
09:07 rangi the mailing list
09:07 wahanui the mailing list is, like, at http://koha-community.org/support/koha-mailing-lists/
09:07 mtj i wanna send a reply…. 'um, ok… ' :)
09:08 rangi you should ahve a telephonic call with them
09:08 mtj no!…. please continue...
09:09 mtj anyhoo, im sure they'll try again with different words - if its really urgent
09:10 rangi yep
09:10 rangi i wonder who that person actually phoned
09:12 mtj hmmm, no clues from the email
09:13 mtj other than, erm … from india :)
09:14 mtj lots from emails india recently, good stuff
09:14 mtj haay rangi , any news from firefox day on sunday?
09:15 rangi and another one
09:15 rangi mtj: good and bad stuff, looks like a lot have been installed and left high and dry
09:15 rangi mtj: just that firefoxOS is pretty cool and easy to develop for
09:15 mtj ahh, ok..
09:16 mtj and… awesome news :)
09:17 mtj gonna have a google now...
09:17 rangi https://marketplace.firefox.com/developers
09:19 magnuse rangi: and for us lazy ratbags: everything is developed in html5 and js?
09:19 rangi yep and css of course
09:21 mtj wow, it kinda makes sense...
09:22 magnuse nah, who cares what it looks like :-)
09:22 mtj lots of people know html5 and js
09:22 mtj thats good
09:22 magnuse yup
09:23 mtj i guess if you know how to design/code a web app...
09:23 mtj … you can write apps for firefox-os?
09:24 francharb hi
09:24 mtj hey francharb
09:24 wahanui francharb falls asleep easily at sea. Don't believe me? Just ask Brooke.
09:25 mtj wow, mumbai!
09:25 mtj i still have flash-backs :p
09:26 mtj those thug monkeys on elephanta island
09:28 mtj and the frisbee games in the sun :)
09:34 mtj rangi, do people at catalyst have firefox-os fones yet?
09:34 mtj … are they obtainable in nz yet?
09:35 mtj http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2013/01/mozilla-geekspohone-firefox-os-developer-phone/
09:35 francharb :)
09:36 mtj http://www.geeksphone.com/
09:37 mtj available soon tho…
09:37 rangi ill have one, i won one for doing an app
09:38 rangi they had 5 at the day, but when they start shipping the new developer ones eythian and I should be getting one each
09:40 mtj ooh, twat was the app?
09:40 rangi nothing useful
09:41 mtj and rangi++ too, good show - great job!
09:41 mtj lol
09:41 mtj it literally had no use?
09:42 mtj titilation… surely ?
09:42 rangi you cant build a useful app in 3 hours
09:42 mtj fart app?
09:42 francharb ahah
09:43 kf beer app
09:43 rangi http://dashboard.koha-community.org/app/www/
09:43 mtj yeah, thats more like it
09:43 rangi try it in firefox 18
09:44 mtj tasty!
09:45 mtj and useful too
09:46 rangi not really, i was using it to learn about the html5 indexdb local storage, so it only refreshes once
09:46 rangi stores all the data locally in a key value store tho
09:47 mtj ok, so add a refresh loop… then useful :)
09:48 kf rangi: cool :)
09:48 mtj kf, im sure eythian's got the beer app sorted, already :)
09:49 kf I am not going to argue with you about that :)
09:53 mtj rangi, try adding a...
09:53 mtj <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="60">
09:53 mtj … line to your index.html page
09:54 mtj .. it should force a page refresh, every 60 seconds
09:55 kf cool
09:55 mtj ^^ it fixed the same problem, for me
09:56 magnuse      rangi++
09:57 magnuse now all we have to do is re-implement koha in html5/js with just a JSON/REST api on the server side ;-)
09:57 rangi mtj: that wont do it
09:57 rangi you can refresh that page a zillion times
09:58 rangi it wont refetch the info from the server
09:58 rangi thats by design
09:58 rangi you dont want an app chewing up your phones traffic
09:58 rangi :)
09:58 magnuse and btw: ouch for 160 bugs that need signoff
09:59 rangi view the source of the app, thats all the html needed for that
10:00 mtj magnuse, ouch
10:00 mtj rangi, wow
10:01 magnuse the app was installed - can i find it again somwhere?
10:01 magnuse other than looking up the url again, i mean
10:02 rangi naw that wont do anything except on a firefoxOS phone, or an android tablet/phone
10:03 magnuse ah, ok
10:03 rangi you can get the firefoxOS simulator
10:03 rangi its an addon for firefox
10:04 rangi but i broke the manifest file last night poking at it more, id recommend not installing it until i finish playing with it
10:04 mtj rangi, ah, ok … i shut up now :)
10:04 rangi but it hsould work in firefox, (a later one) and chrome, at least it should show you a quote and stuff
10:04 mtj hey, it works for me! :)
10:05 mtj s/works/worked/
11:59 tcohen morning #koha!

13:31 magnuse oleonard!
13:31 wahanui i think oleonard is still here, if you just wish hard enough. or Koha's master UI designer
13:31 oleonard I am still here wahanui. It's only been 12 minutes!
13:32 magnuse hehe
13:38 tcohen @later tell druthb I need to upgrade translate.k-c.org's grub now
13:38 huginn tcohen: The operation succeeded.
13:42 tweetbot` [off] twitter: @nengard: "@drakecraytel but what's the point of oss then? why not just develop proprietary software? I think #kohails shows that it can be done well"

13:44 oleonard ...which doesn't make any sense at all.
13:44 nengard right!
13:44 oleonard "Too deadly a concept" ? I don't even get that.
13:45 Dyrcona The older I get, the lower my opinion of most of humanity gets.
13:46 oleonard Bootstrap user menu better with pipe instead of @ ? http://screencast.com/t/QJPolikcP
13:48 H Package install i did put a new set off data in my koha but it does not reindex (removed old data first) ...i did put the rindexing in /etc/cron.d/koha-common on * * * * * root test -x /usr/sbin/koha-rebuild-zebra && koha-rebuild-zebra $(koh$ Nothing happens ... anny tips
13:55 magnuse oleonard: pipe looks good
13:56 magnuse the alternative is "0006067 @ Athens"?
13:56 oleonard That was the other proposal yes, and kf pointed out that @ might be internationally recognized as meaning "at"
13:58 drojf what else could it be recognized as?
13:58 magnuse my gut feeling is that it will look "foreign" to norwegian eyes
13:59 drojf make it Ø for the norwegian version :)
13:59 magnuse :-)
13:59 * oleonard sprinkles "/" over everything to make it more norwegian

14:03 magnuse      um &aelig;
14:03 magnuse drojf: that's the one
14:03 drojf i guess
14:04 drojf your å did also not work for me

14:06 magnuse æøå
14:07 magnuse drojf: can you give us a double-s thingy?
14:07 drojf you mean ß?
14:07 magnuse yay!
14:07 drojf :)
14:08 * oleonard wonders how English ended up so plain
14:09 drojf english should have at least kept the þ
14:09 magnuse hehe
14:11 oleonard :-þ
14:11 magnuse nice!
14:11 drojf what options do i have to do an OPAC search by script/externam program? ILS-DI does not do that, right? and OAI does not work in real time. so z3950 or SRU probably?
14:12 kf sru could work
14:15 magnuse drojf: yeah, those two
14:15 magnuse also opensearch, i think?
14:16 magnuse i think the built in ils-di docs tells you to use sru instead
14:16 magnuse sru is probably the best option
14:16 magnuse z39.50 should go the way of MARC - the sooner the better
14:17 drojf hehe
14:28 drojf how do i test if it is running?
14:29 drojf sru i mean

15:16 oleonard ?
15:17 nengard hey does anyone have an idea about what JQuery I could use to change the default tab on the patron fines page to the 'pay fines' tab (instead of the history)
15:17 magnuse oleonard: trying to be semantic (or RDFish) ;-)
15:19 drojf mmmh, rd-fish
15:19 oleonard nengard: Those are faux tabs, not jQuery ones. They each link to separate pages rather than to tabbed content. So you would probably change the "Fines" tab in the left sidebar to link to pay.pl?
15:20 nengard oh! use JQuery to change where that tab on the left links
15:20 nengard now ? for the JQuery challenged ? how would I do that? :) hehe

15:43 tweetbot` [off] twitter: @YvesTomic: "#koha #kohails Ajout de la navigation dans les résultats pour la recherche dans les exemplaires : http://t.co/pKWbXoyV"
15:50 oleonard Anyone know what's up with that? ^^
15:55 gerundio good afternoon everyone
15:56 gerundio I've been debbuging the labels export source code all day and just found why the barcode labels are not being printed for some item
15:56 gerundio items ^
15:57 gerundio     the SQL query: SELECT bi.*, i.*, b.*,br.* FROM items AS i, biblioitems AS bi ,biblio AS b, branches AS br WHERE itemnumber=? AND i.biblioitemnumber=bi.biblioitemnumber AND bi.biblionumber=b.biblionumber;
15:57 gerundio isn't returning any results since the homebranch column in the items table is NULL for some items
15:57 gerundio how is the homebranch value populated in the items table?
15:58 oleonard Usually it would be added along with the item
15:59 tweetbot` [off] twitter: @YvesTomic: "#koha #kohails Préparation désormais de la recherche avancée pour la recherche dans les exemplaires..."
16:04 gerundio oleonard, I see it in the item edit form
16:04 gerundio it being shown inside a div as non editable
16:05 gerundio looking into the source code I see a hidden input
16:06 gerundio but the value of that input is not set
16:06 oleonard gerundio: homebranch should be editable unless you have some rules which prevent it
16:06 gerundio in my case we only have one branch
16:06 gerundio that might explain why it's not editable?
16:06 oleonard Is the correct branch preselected in the item edit form?
16:07 gerundio in the div I see the correct branch name
16:07 gerundio but like I said, in the source code I see that the input has no value set
16:08 gerundio I'll debug this form to try to see what might be originating this behaviour
16:09 gerundio in the meantime, can yout just simulate an item edit on one of your installation and check if that hidden input has a value set?
16:10 gerundio btw, this is UNIMARC and the homebranch column is mapped to field 995b
16:11 reiveune bye
16:12 oleonard gerundio: In your MARC framework is 995b defined as hidden from the MARC editor?
16:17 gerundio yes
16:18 oleonard So it probably shouldn't be.
16:18 oleonard Wait, I see why you would have set it--because you have only one branch.
16:18 gerundio I'll change it to see what happens on the edit form anyways
16:20 gerundio that fixed it
16:20 gerundio the input was replaced with a select
16:20 gerundio and the value is now correctly filled in for the only option (branch)
16:21 oleonard I wonder if you can have a hidden field with a default value...
16:23 gerundio have no idea :|
16:24 gerundio I have no problem setting hidden = 0
16:24 gerundio since there's only one option in the select the librarians won't be able to change it anyways
16:25 gerundio but from the usability point of view, I'd say this is not an expected behaviour
16:25 gerundio with only one branch set and the subfield set to hidden the value should be properly set
16:25 oleonard I think it is to be expected that a hidden field does not transmit any information with it
16:25 gerundio even more because the branch name shows up correctly
16:26 gaetan_B can anyone tell me in which table permissions are stored ?
16:26 gaetan_B i have one user who is superlibrarian, and user_permissions is empty
16:27 gaetan_B which is puzzling
16:27 oleonard gerundio: It looks like you can hide the field but set a default value. That is probably what you were thinking would happen in your case.
16:27 oleonard gerundio: So you could set it to default to your one branch code
16:28 gerundio I'll explore that option oleonard :)
16:30 oleonard gerundio: I believe user_permissions is only used for "sub-permissions" as they appear on member-flags.pl
16:32 oleonard gerundio: Otherwise you look at the individual borrower record to see what flags are set
16:37 gaetan_B ah alright got it oleonard ;)
16:38 nengard oleonard - your jquery does horrible things to the suggestions page ? http://screencast.com/t/Wv9DHD2VMx why would that happen?
16:43 oleonard Are you sure it's my fault nengard? :)
16:44 nengard yes :)
16:44 nengard without that jquery that page works
16:44 nengard i removed it and all was well
16:44 gerundio oleonard, user_permissions wasn't for me, right? :)
16:44 gerundio oleonard++ thanks for all the help with the homebranch subfield on the items
16:44 nengard actually the reason i asked for your help was cause this line of jquery did the same thing:
16:44 nengard      $(#menu a:contains('Fines')).attr('href',$(#menu a:contains('Fines')).attr('href').replace('boraccount.pl','pay.pl'));
16:44 nengard broke the suggestions page
16:44 nengard it makes no sense to me
16:50 oleonard nengard: It's not that it has a problem with the suggestions page, it's that it causes a js error which happens to break the suggestions page among many
16:50 oleonard Not sure why though
16:50 nengard hmmm
16:51 oleonard It doesn't do well if the correct link is *not* on the page
16:53 kf bye all :)
16:55 gerundio oleonard, FYI, setting the default value on a hidden field accomplish that behaviour
16:55 gerundio so in the homebranch field setting the default as the only branchcode works

17:48 tcohen druthb, r u there?
17:49 druthb sort of. on the phone.
17:49 tcohen bgkriegel told me you're struggling with some permission issues
17:49 tcohen on the translate server
17:49 tcohen do u think is related to the sysadmins running something there?
17:49 druthb Not struggling, exactly; I *know* what's doing it, just haven't figured out the best way to *stop* it.
17:51 tcohen if there's anything u think our sysadmins run there and interfere with your work just let me know
17:51 tcohen AND you need to tell me what to add to our backup workflow
17:51 tcohen (files, DB, etc)
17:51 druthb okay. Yeah, I don't think that's the problem. I see that you need to update grub...When would you like to do that?
17:51 tcohen i've done it
17:51 druthb the big thing to back up will be /var/www/Pootle and its' subdirs.
17:55 tcohen ok, that's just files, right?
17:55 tcohen is there a DB?
17:57 tcohen druthb, could you email me with a list of things to backup?
17:57 tcohen i'll fw it to those in charge of that
18:07 druthb sure. :

20:37 nengard wizzyrea - alright i might need more help
20:37 nengard what does this mean?
20:37 nengard      ! [rejected]        manual3.10.x -> manual3.10.x (non-fast-forward)
20:37 nengard error: failed to push some refs to 'gitmaster@git.koha-community.org:kohadocs.git'
20:37 nengard To prevent you from losing history, non-fast-forward updates were rejected
20:37 nengard Merge the remote changes (e.g. 'git pull') before pushing again. See the
20:37 nengard 'Note about fast-forwards' section of 'git push --help' for details.
20:38 wizzyrea hm, I'm still new to pushing - I think that implies that you'd need to pull down the upstream to update your references
20:38 wizzyrea but whether pull is the best way to do that...
20:38 wizzyrea I'm not sure
20:38 nengard hmmm
20:39 nengard well let's see :)
20:40 nengard nope that didn't do it
20:40 wizzyrea if it were me, I'd probably git fetch && git rebase origin, because I often get in trouble with git pull.
20:40 wizzyrea but I think, since you are technically upstream, you don't want to pull down, only push up.
20:40 wizzyrea gah this problem sounds familiar to me.
20:41 nengard Yeah - fetch and rebase didn't do it either
20:41 wizzyrea but I don't remember how I got out of it.
20:41 nengard I've had this problem before - where i broke things
20:41 nengard I might have had to wipe the branch and pull fresh
20:41 wizzyrea that is the nuclear, but ultimately probably effective, option.
20:41 nengard I won't lose anything by doing it - cause the comment was to master and I was just cherry-picking it
20:42 nengard so I'll still have the comment
20:42 nengard commit
20:42 nengard not comment
20:43 wizzyrea yea, then just do that :)
20:43 wizzyrea there is probably a more elegant way out of it, but I don't know it
20:44 nengard bingo got it
20:44 nengard I actually did a pull
20:44 nengard but had to do a pull with the branch info
20:44 nengard so
20:44 nengard git pull origin manual3.10.x
20:44 nengard and then I did the cherry-pick
20:45 nengard and pushed
20:45 nengard and it worked
20:45 eythian if you can safely lose local history, reset your branch to match origin (git reset --hard origin/manual3.10.x), if you remove --hard it's safer as it'll leave your changes uncommtted.
20:45 eythian If you don't want to lose local history, you merge.
20:45 nengard i didn't need my local history
20:46 eythian in that case, the reset will leave your local branch looking exactly the same as the upstream branch.
20:47 eythian Basically the error is saying that there's a commit upstream that you don't have here, and so pushing your branch would stomp that.
20:48 eythian you can force it to push by putting a '+' in front of 'origin', however it's best to only do that if you know for sure that's what you want to do, not just to make the error message go away.
