07:06 sophie_m hello magnuse :-)
07:07 magnuse meeting in ~3 hours, right?

07:07 Joubu1 hello #koha
07:08 magnuse hiya Joubu1
07:09 * magnuse wanders off to have some french cheese for breakfast
07:09 * asaurat nods
07:16 gaetan_B hello!
07:53 Oak kia ora #koha
07:54 Oak i have a very very weird problem after the hard disk of old server got bad sectors.
07:55 magnuse Oak
07:56 Oak magnuse
07:56 magnuse yay! :-)
07:58 Oak when I search the opac, whatever I search, clicking on the 1st result of page two always gives this error: http://postimage.org/image/ouqivltox/
07:58 paul_p good morning #koha
07:58 magnuse bonjour paul_p
07:59 Oak it's not always the same book title that gives error! it just has to be the first result of page 2.
07:59 magnuse Oak: which version of koha?
07:59 wahanui which version of koha are you using?
07:59 kf morning paul_p
07:59 magnuse guten tag kf
07:59 kf hi magnuse
07:59 Oak latest I guess... just did apt-get install koha-common yesterday
07:59 Oak hello kf
07:59 Oak bonjour pastebot
07:59 Oak oh
07:59 Oak bonjour paul_p
07:59 magnuse hehe
08:01 magnuse oops! i get the same thing, Oak!
08:01 magnuse i'm on 3.6.4
08:02 rangi there was a bug about that wasnt there?
08:02 magnuse it sounds kind of familiar...
08:02 magnuse first record on page 3 and 4 works
08:03 kf I had ap roblem with the last record on result pages once
08:04 kf that was because of the browse thing
08:04 kf it applied the wrong xslt stylesheets
08:04 rangi ah that was it
08:04 rangi i wonder if its similar
08:04 kf and you fixed it :)
08:04 kf it didn't explode like this
08:04 kf seems it's complaning about the leader?
08:05 magnuse last record of first page works for me
08:05 magnuse kf: yup
08:05 kf magnuse: yeah, that shoudl be all good now :)
08:05 kf Oak: so whatever you search, it's always the first record on the second page?
08:06 kf Oak: first record on 3rd page too? or other records on the 2nd page?
08:06 magnuse        the line it complains about looks like this: my $marcrecord = MARC::File::USMARC::decode( $marcresults->[$i] );
08:07 rangi looks like for whatever reason that is an invalid record
08:08 magnuse i have done three searches now, every first record on the second page has that error
08:08 magnuse different records each time
08:09 kf ouch
08:09 kf but perhaps easier to fix than invalid records
08:09 kf I am testing in 3.6.3 now
08:09 kf ok there
08:09 kf [off] hfjs.bsz-bw.de
08:10 kf [off] seminar-stuttgart.bsz-bw.de is ok too
08:11 magnuse [oof] http://sksk.bibkat.no/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?idx=kw&q=peace&offset=20
08:11 magnuse seems to be ok in the intranet
08:15 magnuse anyone got an installation of master with enough records to get to the second page?
08:17 kf not here. :(
08:19 Oak electricity problems
08:19 Oak so, any idea what may be wrong?
08:19 Oak magnuse?
08:19 wahanui i heard magnuse was afraid that we added another 10000 bugs while he was eating pizza.
08:19 magnuse i get the exact same error in master
08:20 Oak so it's a bug?
08:20 magnuse Oak: no, but it sure looks like a bug!
08:20 Oak then my DB backup is at least no messed up.
08:20 Oak not*
08:20 magnuse probably not
08:21 Oak because it was on the same disk that went bad... that's why I am saying...
08:21 Oak okay good.
08:21 Oak i say it's a bug and i found it \o/
08:21 magnuse yay!
08:21 magnuse Oak: want to report it in bugzilla too?
08:21 Oak nah
08:21 Oak others should also test it first
08:22 slef hi all
08:22 Oak 3 people report same thing, then it's a bug
08:22 magnuse hiya slef
08:22 Oak hello slef :)
08:22 slef I've got a master with some records I think. What's up?
08:22 Oak when I search the opac, whatever I search, clicking on the 1st result of page two always gives this error: http://postimage.org/image/ouqivltox/
08:23 magnuse slef: i confirmed it on master, but do a search and click on the first record on the second page
08:23 slef so opac-detail isn't parsing the MARC
08:25 Oak right click and copy the link of that record, and open it by directly pasting in another browser and the record will show properly (most most probably).
08:25 Oak it only happens when we search in the opac, go to page 2, click on 1st record.
08:26 Oak i mean to say there is nothing wrong with that specific record.
08:26 magnuse Oak: good point
08:27 Oak search a different term and, that will result in some different book on page 2, top, and click that record will give same error.
08:27 Oak well, it's a weird thing this error.
08:27 rangi i think its probably caused by the same thing that was breaking the last one
08:28 rangi that kf found
08:28 slef rangi: whatwasthat?
08:28 rangi so if you find that bug, and the patch, its probably something similar to fix it
08:28 rangi its to do with that new browse the results thingy
08:29 * Oak goes to search "browse" is system preferences
08:29 kf slef: last record on every page - detail page got parsed with wrong stylesheet
08:29 rangi if the same url works fine in another tab, its gotta be something odd with env
08:29 kf Oak: you can't turn it off sadly
08:29 rangi or session or something
08:29 kf Oak: you should really file a bug :)
08:29 kf we can help
08:30 slef kf: what's your bug?
08:30 Oak ah... i was hoping to turn it off
08:30 kf slef: rangi fixed it a while ago - it only came up in discussion because it's similar
08:31 Oak kf :) i guess i should file it then.
08:31 rangi kf: yep but we want to see how i fixed it
08:31 rangi cos it might help fix this one
08:31 kf I am already searchign for it
08:31 kf give me a sec :)
08:32 Oak second's up
08:32 kf bug 7394
08:32 huginn 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=7394 critical, PATCH-Sent (DO NOT USE), ---, chris, RESOLVED FIXED, Broken detail page for last link from result page
08:32 Oak never mind
08:32 slef Oak: ok, confirmed your bug
08:32 Oak my bug :)
08:32 rangi thanks kf
08:33 Oak this is cool
08:33 kf Oak: I am not sure everyone is as happy about finding his own bug than you are :)
08:33 kf             Oak++
08:34 Oak well, i am happy because i helped... in some weird way
08:34 Oak :)
08:34 Oak danke!
08:36 magnuse        Oak++
08:37 Oak :) hmm.
08:42 Oak okay clicked file a bug, now, in "components" should I choose: OPAC?
08:42 slef yes
08:43 Oak and version 3.6...
08:43 Oak what is the severity level?
08:44 magnuse blocker, i'd say
08:44 magnuse and i'd set the version to master, since it's there too
08:44 Oak hm okay
08:44 magnuse it will trickle down to 3.6 when it's fixed in master
08:45 rangi yep definitely a blocker
08:45 Oak okay, and "hardware": "all", and "OS" should be "Linux"?
08:46 slef OS All but I don't think they matter much
08:46 * magnuse always leave those at the default
08:46 rangi in this case it doesnt really matter
08:46 Oak okay. this is my first time, so... :)
08:47 rangi interesting
08:48 kf note: can't repicate in 3.6.3
08:48 rangi yep
08:48 kf so probably a problem somewhere in the patches since then
08:49 magnuse and related to the previous/next thing
08:50 rangi thats what i reckon
08:50 Oak last question, it important so asking, what should I put in summary? This OK?: Broken detail page for first link on page 2 from search result page in OPAC
08:51 Oak too long, and not clear in the end i think
08:51 magnuse Oak: looks good to me
08:51 Oak okay then
08:51 rangi yeah its totally to do with that
08:51 rangi it sets a cookie/session data and uses that
08:52 rangi http://opac.library.org.nz/cgi-bin/koha/opac-detail.pl?biblionumber=6432
08:52 rangi i bet that works fine for you
08:52 Oak okay, should I add 7394 in the list as possible fixes?
08:52 magnuse rangi: yup
08:52 rangi but errors for me
08:52 rangi right
08:53 Oak "Possible Duplicates" rather
08:53 magnuse and as far as i can see, the only part of opac-detail.pl that uses C4::Search is the pager code
08:54 magnuse        "use C4::Search;" on line 102 of opac-detail.pl
08:54 rangi ok confirmed
08:55 rangi magnuse: see this line
08:55 rangi          if ($session->param('busc')){
08:55 rangi change that to
08:55 wahanui rangi: that doesn't look right
08:55 rangi 'buscsdasdas'
08:55 rangi or something that wont get a result
08:55 rangi then problem goes away
08:56 rangi its totally the results browser thing doing it
08:56 kf hey drojf :)
08:56 drojf good day #koha
08:56 drojf hi kf :)
08:57 rangi how did we get that big pile of code in opac-detail.pl anyway? surely it should be in a module with a syspref to enable it?
08:57 rangi and putting a use in an if
08:57 rangi is pointless
08:57 rangi the use is evaluated anyway
08:57 rangi all the uses are done in the begin
08:58 rangi require and import you need to use
08:58 rangi </rant>
08:58 magnuse rangi: confirmed, changing "if ($session->param('busc')){" makes the records display properly, and hides the previous/next thing
08:58 rangi yeah so that code makes my head hurt
08:58 rangi its too late in the evening for me to figure out the error
08:59 rangi but at least people know where to look
09:00 magnuse there's a meeting in 1 hour, right?
09:00 rangi yep
09:01 magnuse yay
09:03 Oak electricity!
09:04 slef busc?
09:04 kf probably french
09:04 magnuse or spanish
09:04 slef buscar = search
09:04 slef or something like that
09:05 Oak okay I had clicked "Add me to the CC List" in "Possible Duplicates", but that did not look right, so pressed back, and clicked Submit bug. Here it is: http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=7894
09:05 huginn 04Bug 7894: blocker, P5 - low, ---, oleonard, NEW , Broken detail page for first link on page 2 from search result page in OPAC
09:05 slef was wondering if there's another possible meaning
09:05 rangi bonus points for enabling it to be switched off with a syspref while you are fixing it
09:05 rangi because hiding it with jquery is bad wrong and evil
09:05 slef who wants it?
09:05 kf Oak: looks all ok, I would give the other bug number as see also
09:05 magnuse well done Oak
09:05 rangi since it thrashes the db
09:06 kf Oak: it's the same piece of code - but different problem
09:06 slef rangi: and the browser and ...
09:06 rangi slef: some people like it, the next/previous thing
09:06 Oak okay thank you guys :) thanks kf, magnuse, rangi, slef...
09:06 rangi so letting them have it seems fine to me, but it should be able to be turned off
09:06 juan_sieira busc = search
09:06 kf Oak: thx for filing a bug report :) Oak++
09:07 kf rangi: ideally I would like to see it separated... have the browse and previous next
09:07 Oak :]
09:07 kf I mean, being able to activate the previous next buttons without having the browse feature
09:08 rangi kf: yep, one step at a time :)
09:08 rangi wrapping that block in a syspref would be pretty easy
09:08 kf agreed :)
09:09 magnuse Bug 6483
09:09 wahanui Bug 6483 is an interesting development
09:09 huginn 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=6483 enhancement, PATCH-Sent (DO NOT USE), ---, salva, RESOLVED FIXED, Paging in opac-detail when coming from a search
09:11 magnuse Famous last words... Magnus Enger 2011-07-15 13:54:18 UTC I'd say get the feature in there and let's worry about the syspref later if anyone complains...
09:11 rangi consider me complaining :)
09:11 slef wahanui: forget bug 6483
09:11 wahanui slef: I forgot bug 6483
09:11 magnuse yeah, yeah :-)
09:13 * slef switches on KOHA_BACKTRACES
09:13 magnuse gah, i forget - when git blame gives me a short commit id like 4a2a95cc - what's the best way to find the bug it came from?
09:13 rangi git show 4a2a95cc
09:13 slef git log -1 4a2a95cc
09:14 slef TMTOWTDI
09:14 wahanui TMTOWTDI is there's more than one way to do it
09:14 magnuse thanks rangi and slef
09:14 magnuse i'll settle for for git show - saves lots of typing :-)
09:22 slef I've an ugly fix for bug 7894
09:22 huginn 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=7894 blocker, P5 - low, ---, oleonard, NEW , Broken detail page for first link on page 2 from search result page in OPAC
09:23 slef although I'm just going to test that some more. Why does it only fail on page 2?
09:23 slef and is it only on the first link?
09:23 rangi yep, seems to be
09:25 slef ok I can see what activates it only on page 2
09:27 magnuse yay
09:27 Oak            slef++
09:27 slef bug 7894
09:27 huginn 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=7894 blocker, P5 - low, ---, oleonard, Needs Signoff , Broken detail page for first link on page 2 from search result page in OPAC
09:27 slef signoff anyone?
09:29 magnuse i can give it a shot
09:29 Oak            magnuse++
09:29 kf nice
09:29 kf if we can paul get to push after sign-off
09:29 slef I suggest testing by clicking links on page 1 and 2
09:29 kf this will be another of our global bugs .)
09:29 Oak :) very very nice
09:30 kf found in pakistan, confirmed and tested in germany, norway and new zealand, patch from uk, tested in norway... pushed in france? :)
09:30 Oak awesome
09:30 rangi needs a qa before that
09:30 kf ah right
09:30 Oak :)
09:30 kf but - ian or marcel - even more countries!
09:31 magnuse slef: that fixed it
09:32 magnuse just testing some more edge cases before signing off
09:32 kf OaK how is the cataloging going?
09:33 Oak cataloging had a little mishap... as i accidentally found out the hard disk of server was generating bad sectors... so had to change hard disk.
09:34 Oak when hard disk changed, new hard disk also generated bad sectors after half hour. i told them it must be really messed up power supply giving wrong voltage. then changed the system, installed Debian the 3rd time, and imported DB backup yesterday.

09:35 * dpavlin_ uf. it seems much longer than in browser ;-)
09:36 paul_p kf i'm pushing, so I can take care of bug 7894 quickly !
09:36 huginn 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=7894 blocker, P5 - low, ---, oleonard, Needs Signoff , Broken detail page for first link on page 2 from search result page in OPAC
09:36 magnuse hm, the first record on second page is fixed but the next/previous links in the paging thing is broken
09:37 kf paul_p: rantgi is right, we need qa first - completing the cycle
09:37 paul_p kf BibLibre made nothing on this patch, so I can QA it too
09:39 magnuse is fixing the first record on second page thing quickly important enough to defer the next/previous links to another fix?
09:39 Brooke o/
09:40 Oak Brooke!
09:40 magnuse \0
09:40 * Brooke hugs Oak
09:40 slef paul_p: QA=RM seems like a reduction in eyeballs.
09:40 Oak :)
09:40 rangi i agree
09:40 rangi hi Brooke

09:41 Brooke 5.40
09:41 slef magnuse: not sure I understand you on the next/previous links.
09:41 * Oak offers Brooke coffee
09:41 magnuse slef: when i click on record number 20, the "next" link is inactive
09:41 Brooke giving me coffee without manual labour is a bad idea.
09:41 magnuse when i click on record 21 the "previous" link is inactive
09:42 slef magnuse: did it work before? :(
09:42 magnuse in kf's 3.6.3 install they work "across" the pages
09:42 slef bum
09:42 Oak :)
09:43 rangi dpavlin_: gmcharlt is the one to ask about that
09:43 * kf waves at dpavlin_ :)
09:44 dpavlin_ rangi: thanks. I pushed mail to koha-dev already
09:44 rangi dpavlin_: tickets booked for scotland?
09:44 dpavlin_ kf: higs her, if french can do it, so can I ;-)
09:44 dpavlin_ s/higs/hugs/ [urgh, too little coffee]

09:45 wahanui svc api is http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_/svc/_HTTP_API
09:47 magnuse slef: think you can fix the links, or should i just sign off and say they need to be fixed later?
09:47 rangi dpavlin_: excellent :) eythian and I get in on the 4th .. we are staying at the Cairn Hotel which has reasonable prices
09:47 kf dpavlin_: same dates and hotel for me :)
09:48 mbalmer <- ready for the meeting. and good day!
09:48 dpavlin_ rangi, kf: thanks. We'll book same hotel than. Also arriving on 4th.

09:50 slef magnuse: I've an idea. Can you check records 40 and 41?

10:05 Brooke any general announcements?
10:06 rangi Submit talk proposals ... now :)
10:06 Brooke Roadmap to 3.4 anyone?
10:07 Brooke moving on to 3.6
10:08 * Brooke guesses Chris is still asleep.
10:08 Brooke 3.8 anyone?
10:08 rangi paul_p?
10:08 wahanui well, paul_p is the 3.8 release manager, and is very tall, and does not like coffee.
10:09 kf #topic Roadmap to 3.8
10:09 paul_p yep, i'm here and have things to say
10:09 paul_p * the string freeze if for friday/monday. Only bugfixes will be accepted after this date.
10:09 paul_p * the release is still expected for april 23th
10:10 paul_p rangi = i'll send you an email requesting some help/feedback about how you made releases before
10:10 rangi paul_p: ok
10:10 jcamins Jared Camins-Esakov, C & P Bibliography Services #info
10:10 paul_p * dpavlin_ is doing an awesome job to make the staff interface Plack compliant. I think i'll mark it as experimental for 3.8 release, but will encourage ppl to use it
10:11 clrh #info Claire Hernandez, BibLibre
10:11 sekjal there are currently 17 bugs that are signed off. however, some of these are larger features
10:11 paul_p (just for those who missed the info = speed x3 with plack. that's worth it !)
10:11 rangi id warn them there are lots of gotchas still in the plack stuff
10:11 slef /me hands jcamins a #info
10:11 jcamins slef: I had a #info.
10:11 kmkale #info Koustubha Kale
10:12 rangi jcamins: it only works if its at the start of the line
10:12 jcamins Ah, no one told me that. :)
10:12 * kf hands jcamins scissors to cut them out and move them :)
10:12 jcamins #info Jared Camins-Esakov, C & P Bibliography Services
10:13 sekjal two bugs in the Needs Signoff queue are marked as blockers
10:13 paul_p sekjal = about 17 patches & larger features => OK for the fact, we agree. Did you have an idea behing saying that ?
10:13 dpavlin_ I would suggest for all developers to move to plack, and for production we still have to iron out some caching quirks
10:14 sekjal paul_p: just providing some statistical info… haven't had coffee yet
10:14 rangi yeah i would not run it in production there are still issues with things like sysprefs
10:14 paul_p dpavlin_ sounds fair.
10:14 rangi but the more developers who run it the faster they will be fixed
10:14 paul_p rangi which issues are there ? sysprefs are cached forever and, if changed, they are not taken into account ?
10:14 dpavlin_ wap, I have proposal for Koha::Persistant but will fire it koha-dev after meeting
10:15 rangi paul_p: exactly that
10:15 rangi but only cached in the thread
10:15 rangi so 2 threads can have different values
10:15 rangi things like that
10:15 dpavlin_ yap, but we can fix that using unmemoize in right places and/or invalidating our $caches
10:15 paul_p dpavlin_ with thread dying after 30 requests, won't the correct value being recalculated after at most 30 requests ?
10:16 mbalmer asynchronous notifications could help here, but I don't know if MySQL has them (where an insert or update triggers a message)
10:16 dpavlin_ paul_p: yap. but 30 requests can be a long time when site is idle
10:16 kf I think to be usable we need a way to make it react to configuratoin changes
10:16 rangi its not a mysql, or memoize thing
10:16 rangi they are set to a value in the module
10:16 kf it's not helpful when you have to guess when a switch you switched will take effect
10:16 paul_p kf agreed. Maybe some button in admin-home.pl to "restart" plack if it's possible
10:16 dpavlin_ kf: 3.8.1 I would guess :-)
10:17 * paul_p       is impatient to see dpavlin_ Koha::Persistent proposal ;-)
10:17 rangi dpavlin_: and 30 requests issuing to a hard due date that is different to another .. could be messy
10:17 eythian_home paul_p: in general, band-aids like that are a bad thing compared to doing it right.
10:17 sekjal at the very least, I think a little indicator light in the About section to show if Plack/FastCGI/mod_perl are running
10:17 sekjal oh, and Zebra, too
10:17 paul_p         sekjal++
10:18 kf             eythian++ :)
10:18 paul_p about 3.8, I also want to thank oleonard for the awesome job he made on standardizing templates !
10:18 paul_p         (sekjal = another ++ if you submit a patch ;-) )
10:18 paul_p s/templates/template vocabulary/
10:18 sekjal paul_p: :)
10:19 oleonard I've had a slow start getting back from Hackfest, but I'm happy to keep at it
10:20 * dpavlin_ opened Bug 7895
10:20 huginn 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=7895 enhancement, P5 - low, ---, nengard, NEW , Add Plack/FastCGI/mod_perl server configuration and Zebra info to about
10:20 kf perhaps change assignee :)
10:21 Brooke are we all talked out on the 3.8 Roadmap stuff?
10:21 slef good work on Plack
10:21 kf lots of awesome things around the corner - sign offers and testers needed :)
10:21 paul_p Brooke I think so.
10:21 paul_p as usual...
10:21 slef I've some ideas I'll try to throw in

11:02 slef thd: DV camera. Not sure what else. I think mle isn't here right now, so I don't know.
11:03 slef magnuse: we're still checking network capacity.
11:03 slef kf: I think so.
11:03 magnuse slef: cool
11:03 thd slef: Do you plan to record dev days also?
11:03 slef paul_p: yes, basically one room, at least for the conference. I think we might have a small side room too but my memory may be failing - mle is the best to ask about the venue.
11:04 magnuse any kind of video of talks during the hackfest would be super cool
11:04 dpavlin_ slef: audio is very important! might camera have direct link to AV?
11:04 slef thd: yes, but video helpers will be needed to pull it off.
11:05 * thd has a conflicting unrecorded conference so recording is important.
11:05 slef dpavlin_: I think so. If not, we'll record AV audio directly and resynchronise them.
11:05 dpavlin_       slef++
11:05 magnuse        slef++
11:05 kf             slef++
11:05 thd            slef++ much recording
11:05 kmkale         slef++
11:06 slef simplest will be if we can stream, because then it can be recorded and made available in one step, but I just don't know.
11:06 slef Any other question? I think I've two things I'd like to ask for your feedback on
11:07 slef 1. is it OK to put sponsors logos on http://koha-community.org/kohacon12/ ?
11:07 * paul_p must head for lunch, will read logs after
11:07 kf I think if made clear it's sponsoring for the conference - ok for me
11:07 * oleonard tries to join paul_p for lunch, fails
11:08 dpavlin_ slef: would http://www.bigbluebutton.org/ help with recording?
11:08 slef 2. we were considering giving sponsors extra perks at around $50 (standard) and $1200 (full monty) - are those the right price points?
11:08 drojf1 while i am all against advertisements in general i would still be ok with sponsor's logos on the conference site
11:09 kf slef: the gap seems a bit wide to me
11:09 BobB I have a conflict of interest on this one. :)
11:09 rangi we didnt really differentiate at kohacon10
11:09 thd slef: The right price points are the ones which meet the needs.
11:09 slef dpavlin_: I think it requires Adobe flash to send or view so I'm not sure. I think we have better options but the guy with bad eyesight isn't the best one to ask about this.
11:09 rangi everyone got their logo on the website, and that was it
11:09 slef BobB: so do we. We want to set prices people will pay.
11:10 BobB Slef do you have a budget yet?
11:10 BobB or a target for how much you want to collect?
11:10 rangi we also didnt have price points .. so i dont really have an opinion
11:10 magnuse slef: what would the full monty be?
11:10 thd slef: It seems to work in gnash but that does not qualify it.
11:11 slef BobB: I think we need at least $4000, but the budget has lots of variables even now.
11:11 BobB Understood. Thx.
11:11 slef BobB: basically more sponsors = better conference.
11:11 dpavlin_ thd: recordings are html5 FWIW but it does require flash [stops bbb chatter from now]
11:11 slef dpavlin_: things have improved since I last looked.
11:12 BobB If you make the entry point $50 you are more likely to raise $400 than $4,000
11:12 rangi i dunno
11:12 rangi our entry point was $1
11:13 kf rangi: was it diddicult to get all expenses covered?
11:13 slef magnuse: full monty = website, programme, things in the room, things in the pack, logo up big, something else I forgot
11:13 rangi i think the companies involved have more ethics than that
11:13 thd slef: both rangi and BobB are correct :)
11:13 BobB OK, well just so we all know what the target is.
11:13 rangi and know what a reasonable amount is
11:14 BobB But (conflict aside) I'm not in favour of favours and don't expect any
11:14 thd slef: Framing by expectation is important but turning away anything offered is bad.
11:14 magnuse i don't think slef said anything about a minimum amount?
11:14 kmkale we had VPM to fall back on for everything
11:14 rangi kf: nope
11:14 kf so perhaps we should keep it more open?
11:14 rangi i agree with BobB
11:14 kf don't have different levels?
11:14 slef No, we'll accept anything as sponsorship. Just more perks at those price points. We're also going to have a class of sponsors for people who give us stuff we need.
11:15 kf slef: what is a class of sponsors?
11:15 slef kf: standard, full monty...
11:15 magnuse bronze silver gold kind of thing
11:15 slef kf: basically a package of things.
11:15 kf ah
11:15 slef kf: magnuse has it right
11:16 * magnuse will sponsor with the same amount as for kohacon10 and 11, and does not expect anything more than being listed somewhere
11:16 slef I think so far we have two sponsors in that class. We're trying to keep that one as small as we can, so we'd like to get the call for sponsors out ASAP
11:17 kf hm
11:17 Brooke are we all talked out on this?
11:17 kf we have some bigger companies and some smaller - which will give the bigger ones bigger representation I think
11:17 rangi yeah im not mad keen on the perk thing
11:18 rangi but maybe thats just me
11:18 slef so the feedback I'm taking back is that the gap is too wide?
11:18 kf I am not totally sure it fits our structure
11:18 thd Brooke: We will be talked out when KohaCon is fully funded ;)
11:18 slef I really expect to have only 3 going for the full monty
11:19 Brooke #topic Old Business
11:19 Brooke Don't think there are actions from last meeting
11:19 Brooke lemme know if I'm wrong
11:19 rangi you could just do the #topic thing and not change it twice if you want to save keystrokes
11:19 thd There is an issue from last meeting
11:20 thd There had been mention of KohaCon 2012 specific IRC meetings.
11:20 slef oh yeah
11:20 slef didn't mle suggest a date+time?
11:20 thd Are there any?
11:21 * oleonard has to take kids to school
11:21 oleonard Bye all
11:21 oleonard bbl
11:21 thd slef: mle suggested 19.00 UTC on Wednesdays.
11:21 thd if I recall correctly
11:22 slef thd: that's fine with me. How about others?
11:22 kf slef: is there a need to start meeting? or waiting for the deadline?
11:23 slef kf: you mean not meet until after 20 April?
11:23 kf I am not sure - that's why I am asking
11:23 kf :)
11:23 kf so first meeting today, or on 11th, 18th?
11:23 slef thd: http://meetings.koha-community.org/2012/koha.2012-03-21-18.00.html says 18.00 Wednesdays... could mean 17 or 18 UTC.
11:24 thd slef: meetings with kmkale were sparsely attended as a point of information.
11:24 slef thd: I remember.
11:24 slef kf: let's say 11th, to give people enough notice? Also to see if we can start scheduling papers a bit by then.
11:24 kf ok :)
11:24 Brooke k that's resolved then

11:26 dpavlin_ I have demo of new development tools at http://blog.rot13.org/koha/koha-intranet-cgi-vs-plack.ogv (write-up pending for koha-dev) it's on https://github.com/dpavlin/Koha for people who want to try it *right now*

11:28 kf dpavlin_++ for making videos!
11:28 slef dpavlin_: good work. (I'll persuade you to gitorious one day)
11:29 dpavlin_ slef: I can push it to gitourious also, no problem :-)
11:29 druthb         dpavlin++
11:29 dpavlin_ github is mostly for visibility, I still prefer my own git server ;-)

11:31 jcamins +1
11:31 slef mtj: I update it once in a blue moon. Help welcome ;)

11:32 drojf1 sleeping then or in the day. boss won't allow that, so no meeting for me
11:32 sekjal +1
11:32 mtj slef: oops sorry, you meant why not use *your* existing gitorious repo?
11:33 mtj slef: ok, a good suggestion from you

11:34 slef t/Heading_MARC21.t
11:34 jcamins slef: ah.
11:34 sekjal jcamins: i keep getting one in t/db_dependent/Acquisitions.t
11:35 jcamins Kind of odd that I have problems with neither of those.
11:35 pastebot "eythian" at 121.73.2.230 pasted "Failing test" (12 lines) at http://paste.koha-community.org/331
11:35 * chris_n realizes that he not only missed his 10pm appointment last evening, but the meeting this morning as well
11:35 eythian_home jcamins: that one
11:35 slef sekjal: is that the missing libreadonly-perl and libdatetime-format-dateparse-perl build-depends that I patched yesterday or so?
11:35 jcamins Ohhh.
11:36 jcamins Yeah, rangi and I discussed a solution.
11:36 slef oh I've got a solution. Who wants it?
11:36 slef as in: what bug?
11:36 sekjal slef: that patch is now Passed QA. not sure it's related to failing tests, though
11:36 eythian_home sekjal: I failed it
11:36 slef bug 7284
11:36 wahanui bug 7284 is the first step to making that happen.

11:37 slef damnit
11:37 rangi it can be in the init sub instead
11:37 slef yeah, that's the patch I did
11:37 rangi and then the tests will pass
11:37 rangi cool, stick it on 7284 as a follow up i reckon
11:38 jcamins Excellent, I don't have to rewrite your patch. :)
11:38 pastebot "slef" at 86.54.115.53 pasted "patch for the failing C4::Heading::UNIMARC" (48 lines) at http://paste.koha-community.org/332
11:38 rangi right, time to sleep
11:38 eythian_home yeah, DB on a BEGIN block is pretty terrible when it comes to testing.
11:39 kf good night rangi
11:39 Oak good night rangi :)
11:39 * eythian_home will sleep too. Will give it a few days or so and try to rebuild the packages then.
11:39 slef jcamins: shall I stick it on 7284?
11:39 Oak good night Mr Robin
11:39 jcamins slef: yes please.
11:39 jcamins I will sign off.

11:44 magnuse :-)

11:45 magnuse hehe
11:45 jcamins slef: do you mind if I amend your patch to move Heading_MARC21.t to t/db_dependent ?
11:45 drojf1 throw in a sami koha day and there may be extra funding somewhere :)
11:45 magnuse :-)
11:46 slef jcamins: not at all
11:47 jcamins slef: okay, will do.

13:13 uwe Greetings; i know it seems im asking about the obvious, but should i use 3.4 or 3.6 ? this page: http://koha-community.org/download-koha/ links to 3.4 ; so i'm not sure if this page needs update or if this is indeed the recommendation when using .deb ?
13:18 magnus_lunch uwe: http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_3.4_on_Debian_Squeeze redirects to "Koha 3.6 on Debian Squeeze" :-)
13:18 magnus_lunch so if you install the stable packages you will get 3.6.x
13:30 uwe thank you magnuse ; i would suggest to change the link instead of redirecting. the url in the browser is http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_3.4_on_Debian_Squeeze .

13:35 uwe another note, the document suggest the usage of sudo at some point; this is not correct for a fresh installation of debian, sudo is not included by default
13:35 uwe user needs to be root in debian; unless sudo is installed AND user logged in is configured to use sudo
13:36 uwe i will create an account and try to change that; just thought to give you heads up
13:37 Oak yup, sudo is not installed by default (I used the xfce, lxde cd image). you need to do 'su' to be root.

13:40 paul_p oleonard yep, it checks only changed lines.
13:41 paul_p the tricky thing being that sometimes you change something to a line that HAS a tab, and my hook complain. I hesitated to fail QA for that, but I think it will force us to go in the right direction instead of having many trailing tabs.
13:41 paul_p (I plan to send a mail to koha-devel about that)
13:42 kf hm
13:42 kf have you seen the automated whitepsace fix from rangi's blog?
13:42 kf I use that
13:42 kf it removes them automagically
13:42 kf on apply
13:42 uwe I'm unable to edit the wiki; i also did not get a confirmation via email :S
13:43 kf whitespace?

13:45 kf hi wizzyrea :)
13:45 wizzyrea mornin :)
13:46 Oak morning wizzyrea :)
13:54 * oleonard wonders why his git hook isn't working
13:54 oleonard -rwxrwxr-x 1 oleonard 2267 2012-04-04 09:42 pre-commit
14:12 oleonard Well, the check for spaces is working now anyway...
14:12 * oleonard suspects many of his 2780 patches will fail because of this
14:18 jcamins I'd like to set up the pre-apply hook.
14:18 jcamins I guess I now know how to test it. :)
14:20 oleonard I wish the hook would output a line number with the error

14:25 paul_p oleonard I think it's a little bit tricky to get the line number in the file.

14:51 oleonard Oh wait paul_p, I think maybe my editor has screwed something up
14:52 oleonard Let me check again
14:52 paul_p oleonard don't worry, i'll use http://blog.bigballofwax.co.nz/2011/12/15/fixing-whitespace-when-apply-patches-with-git/ !
14:52 paul_p it doesn't fix tab errors, but if you use tab-in-indent treats a tab character in the initial indent part of the line as an error (not enabled by default).
14:52 paul_p and tabwidth=<n> tells how many character positions a tab occupies; this is relevant for indent-with-non-tab and when git fixes tab-in-indent errors. The default tab width is 8. Allowed values are 1 to 63.
14:52 paul_p it fixes automatically all errors !!!
14:53 paul_p (will do that with tabwidth=4)
14:53 paul_p just tested, it works like a charm !
14:53 paul_p so, switching 7876 back to passed QA ;-)

15:15 tcohen hi #koha, how do I push a git branch (from a k-c.org clone) into my personal git server?
15:15 jcamins Woohoo!
15:15 jcamins        kf++
15:16 jcamins tcohen: git push remote branch

15:16 wizzyrea so exciting.
15:16 kf :)
15:16 wizzyrea wait, which item table
15:16 tcohen jcamins: i do git push git-unc-pushbranch origin/3.6.x
15:16 wizzyrea on the detail?
15:16 wizzyrea omg!
15:16 tcohen it says everything is ok
15:17 wizzyrea or on add items
15:17 wizzyrea bc that's really what I want :P
15:17 tcohen but i cannot seem to do a checkout of that branch
15:17 tcohen i assume git push creates the branch if it doesn't exist?
15:17 jcamins tcohen: you're doing git checkout git-unc-pushbranch/origin/3.6.x?
15:17 slef depends on configuration but it can
15:18 jcamins I think you're better off just pushing a 3.6.x branch.
15:18 tcohen jcamins: it says the branch doesn't exist
15:18 jcamins tcohen: right, you have to create a 3.6.x branch.
15:19 jcamins git checkout -b 3.6.x origin/3.6.x
15:19 jcamins git push git-unc-pushbranch 3.6.x
15:20 jcamins If you're just trying to make an exact copy of git.k-c.org, don't use git push, use git clone.
15:21 tcohen i want to have my server to follow git.k-c.org
15:21 tcohen as some of you use gitorious or github
15:22 jcamins tcohen: then use git clone.
15:22 jcamins Use git push to push your own branches.
15:23 tcohen yeah, i can't make that part work, pushing my branches into my git server
15:24 slef tcohen: sorry to be blunt but have you read man git-push?
15:24 tcohen yeap
15:24 tcohen i think we have a faulty setup
15:24 jcamins tcohen: in that case, you shouldn't be trying to push origin/3.6.x
15:24 tcohen i did that just for testing
15:25 jcamins I'm pretty sure that won't ever work right.
15:25 jcamins Though i could be mistaken.
15:25 jcamins I'd do something like "git checkout -b uploadtest origin/master && git push remote uploadtest"
15:26 jcamins Also, you know that you have to have SSH write access?
15:26 slef I'd expect something like "git push remote branch:branch" but I've not read the man page recently.
15:26 jcamins slef: that may be it.
15:27 jcamins slef: ":branch" is optional if you're using the same name.
15:29 jcamins tcohen: I don't really see how you could have a faulty setup. All you need is SSH.
15:29 tcohen jcamins: you're right
15:29 tcohen i needed a local branch following 3.6.x for things to work
15:30 tcohen git push remote origin/3.6.x wouldn't work
15:30 tcohen git checkout -b uploadtest origin/3.6.x && git push git-unc uploadtest did
15:30 huginn New commit(s) kohagit: Bug 7876 - Add ids to divs and spans with ids in opac-user.tt <http://git.koha-community.org/gitweb/?p=koha.git;a=commitdiff;h=9db202af0d0d1c00bf0335fc0cef20fe5868be7e>
15:31 tcohen and also, i was not confident with our gitosis setup
15:31 tcohen but it seems to work ok
15:31 reiveune bye
15:31 jcamins gitosis could easily be set up wrong, but for pushing, I think you just use SSH?
15:32 tcohen yeap
15:32 tcohen i was all wrong
15:33 tcohen i think i'll re-read progit today
15:34 jenkins_koha Starting build #696 for job Koha_master (previous build: SUCCESS)
15:34 tcohen thanks jcamins
15:37 jcamins You're welcome.
15:50 talljoy1 Anyone here know what setting the second indicator for a title in Koha does for results display? (i.e 245 05$a"The Silver.....) This doesn't seem to affect the order of display in the search results (still alphabetical "The Silver Phantom" comes before "Silver and...")
15:50 talljoy1 i suppose that is a question for those who use MARC. ;-)
15:50 jcamins It doesn't do anything.
15:50 kf what jcamins said
15:51 jcamins I have a great rant on how lousy GRS-1 is for this very reason. :)
15:51 kf it should use them for sorting, but it doesn't
15:51 talljoy1 heh
15:51 kf jcamins: tell me dom is better for this very reason?
15:51 talljoy1 so it is clean cataloging, but serves no purpose.
15:51 * kf has hope
15:51 kf because we have this data
15:51 kf and it's sad not to sue it
15:51 kf use
15:52 jcamins Well, it's not used by Koha at the moment.
15:52 gaetan_B bye!
15:53 SJeffery And sadly, Koha is probably the best ils for using marc data
15:53 slef whysthat sad?
15:55 SJeffery Well, sad in that there are still a number of annoying areas where it is lacking like that, but even then it is still the best out there.
15:57 wizzyrea !
15:57 wizzyrea <3
15:58 wizzyrea nice to hear we're the best at something. :)
15:58 jcamins Also, our analytics support?
15:58 jcamins Really pretty darn awesome.
15:59 SJeffery Though if my evil plans come to fruition many of those things will be corrected
15:59 SJeffery The fact that there is ANY analytics support is pretty awesome
16:00 * wizzyrea likes evil plans
16:01 SJeffery Several of the sales reps from the large ils vendors had absolutely no clue what I was talking about when I asked about analytics support. They would then get back to me to say that they could definitely add that for five or six figures and several years time.

16:03 libsysguy does someone have an example of a correctly tabbed patch
16:04 jcamins libsysguy: most of them are. What editor do you use?
16:04 libsysguy emacs
16:04 libsysguy and it is set to tab to 4 spaces
16:04 libsysguy paul_p said he was seeing 8
16:04 libsysguy so im confused
16:04 paul_p i'm here !
16:04 libsysguy w00t
16:05 libsysguy hey, ok so im a little confused
16:05 jcamins (setq indent-tabs-mode nil)?
16:05 paul_p libsysguy = when I apply your patches, my git automagically replace all tabs by 4 spaces. And the resulting indenting is ugly.
16:05 paul_p (did I say I love git ?)
16:05 paul_p I get things like:
16:05 paul_p         if (bla) {
16:05 paul_p         $var=bla;
16:06 paul_p         $somethingelse=bla;
16:06 paul_p         somecode;
16:06 paul_p         another;
16:06 paul_p         alast one;
16:06 paul_p         }
16:06 paul_p (that's just an example, "another" and $var=bla are not correctly placed
16:06 libsysguy so it doesn't look like it does in the diff?
16:06 paul_p )
16:07 paul_p libsysguy nope, because the diff has a tab, that is represented as 8 spaces
16:07 libsysguy weird
16:07 paul_p (had you set 2 tabs, that would have been OK in fact, bug ugly on the diff)
16:08 paul_p the best, anyway, is to use only 4 spaces. which emacs should be able to do
16:09 libsysguy I think i can just do what jcamins said
16:09 libsysguy and just kill of tabs in file compression
16:09 jcamins libsysguy: check that doesn't change *all* tabs, though.
16:10 jcamins kf: sorry, missed your question earlier. Yes, DOM will allow us to use 245ind2.
16:10 kf             jcamins: dom++ :)
16:10 kf oh
16:10 jcamins gmcharlt: will your DOM implementation take advantage of 245ind2?
16:10 kf I wanted to test that
16:11 jcamins gmcharlt is working on some follow-ups.
16:11 SJeffery What is the status of the dom project?
16:11 slef do branches on git.koha-community.org ever get deleted? Each extra HEAD causes extra objects to be downloaded into a shallow clone.
16:11 kf SJeffery: waiting for sign-off
16:12 jcamins SJeffery: gmcharlt has an implementation, which I tested and offered feedback on, and revised patches should be following.
16:12 kf jcamins: it would probably fix the problems I see with indexing different classifications in 084 too.. *sigh*
16:13 SJeffery kf: So it did not make it into 3.8?
16:13 kf SJeffery: there is still a chance
16:13 kf it does not touch strings
16:13 SJeffery *crosses fingers and toes* It would make my development a lot easier if it made it in:D
16:14 kf SJeffery: you can help with testing
16:14 kf the patch is in git
16:14 kf the more eyes the better
16:14 SJeffery testing? You mean you want me to TRY to break stuff?
16:14 kf SJeffery: exactly :)
16:15 kf and I bet jcamins has some suggestions what you can try to do that
16:15 jcamins @marc 084
16:15 huginn jcamins: A classification number from a scheme not covered by one of the other number fields. The field should not be used for classification numbers assigned from a source for which a subfield $2 source of number code would not be assigned. (Repeatable) [a,b,2,6,8]
16:15 jcamins Yes.
16:15 jcamins        more_eyes++
16:16 wizzyrea SJeffery: we love it when people try to break stuff.
16:16 slef wizzyrea: just not so much when they succeed, eh? ;-)
16:16 SJeffery Well as soon as I finish cataloging books in Farsi and Afrikaans I will take a stab at it
16:16 jcamins kf: ah, yeah, we could do something like I want to do with relator terms: rel-edt:Camins or cn-sudoc:whatever
16:16 wizzyrea what people don't know is that bug reports are challenges that feed our curiosity
16:16 SJeffery Wait a minute, I don't know either of those languages...might be a while:)
16:17 kf jcamins: you are genious
16:17 jcamins SJeffery: Afrikaans should be pretty easy.
16:17 kf jcamins: I will ask Uli to index $2 too
16:17 kf ah... not
16:17 kf it won't work
16:17 kf because they have different classifications in the same record...
16:17 kf not necessary the same field
16:17 jcamins kf: not with GRS-1.
16:17 * kf sniffs
16:17 wizzyrea slef: i'm looking at your dev for checkout search
16:17 wizzyrea checkout *time search
16:18 wizzyrea I don't really like how it works - I think I'd rather see more results than just one. Does it work for your libraries?
16:19 wizzyrea i mean, in your data it brings back the right item enough of the time to be helpful?
16:20 wizzyrea it's not an indictment, i'm really curious
16:20 wizzyrea afk just a min
16:20 slef wizzyrea: I'd rather see more results but I don't really understand how to get a useful listbox in circulation.

16:23 kf jcamins++ for lots of awesome features in 3.8 :)
16:23 kf ... and I can't wait until he has dom indexing to play with ... ;)
16:24 * jcamins is very excited for DOM indexing, too.
16:26 wizzyrea slef: maybe like oleonard's search to hold - you could add a conditional button to the regular search results to add "check this item out to <patron>"
16:26 wizzyrea just a thought
16:31 slef wizzyrea: and redirect to that when there's no barcode hit?
16:31 wizzyrea right
16:32 kf hm
16:32 wizzyrea sticky when you have multiple items though
16:32 kf someone an idea which z39.50 attribute to use for 084?
16:32 kf @marc 084
16:32 huginn kf: A classification number from a scheme not covered by one of the other number fields. The field should not be used for classification numbers assigned from a source for which a subfield $2 source of number code would not be assigned. (Repeatable) [a,b,2,6,8]
16:32 jcamins 20?
16:32 wahanui 20 is nice
16:32 kf hm seems we use 20 already
16:32 wizzyrea slef: how many clicks are your people willing to take to make this work?
16:32 jcamins Well, wahanui thinks that's a good idea.
16:32 kf trying to figure that out right now
16:33 jcamins What are we using it for?
16:33 kf msc
16:33 kf and rvk
16:33 kf and... others
16:33 * jcamins withdraws the question.
16:34 kf oh
16:34 kf some kind of mathematical classification
16:34 kf but koha has 952$o callnumber
16:34 kf in there...
16:35 libsysguy paul_p you still around
16:35 kf wonder if it would hurt to just put the fields in there too
16:35 slef wizzyrea: good point. Ideally 0.
16:35 paul_p libsysguy yep, for a few minuts !
16:35 jcamins Local use attribute, then?
16:35 slef wizzyrea: and if they are in the search screen, then they cannot access the date and so on, so they'd have to go back to circulation
16:35 libsysguy jw if you knew a good way to tell if the spacing would be right before I submitted this
16:36 slef wizzyrea: I'm waiting for feedback from the sponsor, but I suspect even my one extra click is pushing it :-/
16:36 libsysguy bc in theory it should look the same as it does now only work on your end
16:36 wizzyrea :/ then what I'm thinking probably wouldn't be ideal
16:37 wizzyrea slef well I was envisioning something like 1. type title 2. results 3. find right book 4. click it 5. find right item 6. click "check out to <patron>" 7 click check out
16:37 wizzyrea so check out to would ultimately end up in the item table somewhere
16:37 wizzyrea which is far too much work
16:38 kf jcamins: melm 084$a Local-classification:w,Local-classification:p,Local-classification:s ?
16:38 wizzyrea 6 sends you back to the checkout screen, where the barcode is now in the checkout box waiting for you to set the due date
16:38 kf jcamins: will I be able to do an exact search for something like 00 with that?
16:41 jcamins kf: yes.
16:41 jcamins kf: it'll be a problem for sorting by call number, though.
16:43 kf oh
16:43 kf aren't we useing the other column for sorting?
16:43 kf hm not good then
16:43 jcamins Let me actually look at the config file.
16:44 kf thank you
16:44 jcamins If you were to take out the Local-classification:s, that would do it.
16:44 kf they use a different schema for their call numbers...
16:44 kf ah
16:44 kf so s = sort? s = scan?
16:44 jcamins s=sort
16:44 jcamins scan=w
16:45 kf k :)
16:45 jcamins You know, I'm not sure Zebra configuration makes any sense.
16:45 jcamins ;)
16:45 kf so that shoudl work you think?
16:45 jcamins Yes.
16:45 kf melm 084 Local-classification:w,Local-classification:p
16:45 kf melm 084$a Local-classification:w,Local-classification:p
16:45 kf ah
16:45 kf other way round, subfields first... I think
16:46 jcamins Right.
16:46 kf good that I showed you :) thx!
16:46 kf             jcamins++
16:46 jcamins Oh, unless they have similar classification and call numbers that are different.
16:47 kf ?
16:47 kf explain that sentence please? :)
16:47 jcamins Like, if 084 classification LC1 means "Hochdeutsche" and call number LC1 means "Plattdueuetsch," that'd be a problem.
16:48 kf ah
16:48 kf no I think that should be save here... I hope
16:48 kf we will give it some testing
16:48 kf not sure where else to put it...
16:49 kf and thx for the german example :)
16:50 jcamins Because they'd search for LC1 in classification, and get the books on Low German, too.
16:50 jcamins :)
16:50 * jcamins always thought it was "Haupt-deutsch." You learn something new every day. :)

16:51 kf a new index would work better probably
16:51 kf but not sure which attribute to use then
16:51 kf seems callnumbers should be more Number local call 53 -

17:29 slef There are lines like delete $arrParamsBusc{'previous'} if (exists($arrParamsBusc{'previous'})); and I don't see the reason why.
17:30 slef I'm now testing master to see if previous worked then, just to reassure me.
17:31 slef heh, no, of course it didn't
17:31 slef that's why we had the error
17:31 slef someone said it worked in 3.6
17:31 slef next did not work in master
17:32 slef so I think Next/Previous not working on last/first results is another, less severe bug.
17:32 jcamins slef: yes, certainly. The bug I was referring to is that Next/Previous seemed to be grayed out altogether with the patch.
17:33 wizzyrea huh, on 3.6.4, the 1st result doesn't show the previous/next links at all
17:33 slef wizzyrea: what about the 20th?
17:33 wizzyrea but doesn't give an error
17:33 slef (if you have 20 results/page)
17:34 slef and do you have OPACGroupResults or whatever it is called?
17:34 * wizzyrea checks that
17:34 wizzyrea no, I don't have that on
17:35 * wizzyrea wonders how it changes thing
17:35 wizzyrea s
17:35 slef then you won't get the previous/next box I think
17:35 * slef checks his
17:36 wizzyrea well mine just bombs entirely. pazpar must not be running.
17:36 wizzyrea good thing I did that on the test server.
17:36 slef           wizzyrea++
17:36 wizzyrea or maybe it's only not running on the test server.
17:36 wizzyrea that could be.
17:36 slef oh wait
17:36 slef mine is set to Don't use
17:36 * slef goes and rereads the code
17:36 jcamins slef: no, it has nothing to do with pazpar2.
17:37 slef           if (!C4::Context->preference('NoZebra') && !$build_grouped_results) {
17:37 slef ah, enabling GroupResults switches this off
17:37 slef wizzyrea: do you have previous/next on the 20th and 21st result?
17:37 wizzyrea http://catalog-test.nexpresslibrary.org/cgi-bin/koha/opac-detail.pl?biblionumber=29601
17:37 wizzyrea 3.6.4, btw
17:38 slef wizzyrea: it's in the session, so I need to do a search first
17:38 wizzyrea oh, and there's the error
17:38 wizzyrea on the 1st result of 2nd page
17:38 slef which also sucks so let's not have that fight now
17:39 wizzyrea hee
17:40 slef pages that change depending how you reach them... if it's not a HTTP status code change (like 200 OK v 403 Unauthorized), I think it's a bad idea
17:40 slef yeah, the Next is greyed out on result 20 on wizzyrea's catalog-test
17:40 jcamins slef: my theory is at least it's better now than it was before we had any paging.
17:40 wizzyrea but I think that makes sense
17:40 slef I don't think this feature worked to start with.
17:41 jcamins slef: it never went between pages.
17:41 wizzyrea at least, it makes sense to me - it can't next into the next page
17:41 slef jcamins: the code tried to.
17:41 slef jcamins: It Just Doesn't Work.
17:41 jcamins slef: I mean, it went between different details pages within the 20 results just retrieved.
17:41 wizzyrea right
17:41 wizzyrea it does do that
17:41 jcamins But it never went past the 20-result boundary.
17:41 wizzyrea or whatever the boundary is
17:41 slef and it Doesn'tWork more spectacularly on page 2 first link than it did on page 1 last link
17:42 wizzyrea right, that's the real problem
17:42 jcamins Yes.
17:42 slef jcamins: the code is there for trying to go across the boundary
17:42 slef jcamins: that's what's failing
17:42 wizzyrea and the problem with your patch is that paging through details doesn't work with the patch?
17:42 jcamins slef: oh, well... it probably shouldn't bother.
17:42 slef wizzyrea: yeah. So I think it's a pre-existing problem. I'm putting it back to Needs Signoff.
17:42 jcamins slef: when I tried your patch, the problem wasn't on the 20th result.
17:43 jcamins wasn't *just*
17:43 jcamins It was on every single result.
17:43 slef jcamins: ah.
17:43 jcamins There was no paging at all.
17:43 wizzyrea oh yea, breaking *all* of the paging is bad.
17:43 * slef switches back to his branch
17:44 slef jcamins: on page>1 or on page=1 too?
17:45 jcamins page=1
17:45 jcamins Was it a stale cache on my browser?
17:45 slef jcamins: maybe. worksforme
17:45 slef checking page=2 now
17:46 alaquerre Hi everyone, wanted to share that we have launch yesterday Opac-Mobile in beta-testing on a production site. We worked on it last couple of weeks. This mobile will be released to the community short term -- I would say couples weeks. We would like to have feedback from you guys to see what you think about it. -- levis.koha.ccsr.qc.ca
17:47 alaquerre Open it using smartphone or shrink your browser so you can have the mobile display to kick in.
17:47 slef jcamins: yeah, worksforme on page=2 too.
17:47 sekjal kyleh: thanks for the followup on 7641; I'm QAing now
17:48 jcamins I should mobile-ify my OPACs.
17:49 kyleh sekjal: np, glad to get it though quickly.
17:49 alaquerre You won't have access to the user section, but user will be able to renew and reserve document.
17:49 jcamins You know what would be useful? An OPACIncludeJS syspref for javascript code that is standard to all one's Koha installations.
17:49 kyleh sekjal: looks like Ian beat you to it.
17:50 wizzyrea sekjal = ian
17:50 * jcamins scratches his head in confusion.
17:50 slef oh wow
17:51 jcamins slef: uh-oh?
17:51 * kyleh has a head crash
17:51 slef if someone opens two search result pages in two tabs, it confuses the Browse Results thing
17:52 slef if you think that it's implemented in the session, you'd expect that, but that's more in-depth knowledge than OPAC users will have
17:52 slef stored, not implemented
17:52 kyleh I guess my mind is getting addled in my old age, or I need some caffiene
17:52 jcamins Heh. I would not have expected it.
17:52 sekjal alaquerre: ah, so mobile CSS with screensize detection, rather than a completely separate mobile template
17:54 alaquerre sekjal : Yes. We did not have the ressource ($) to do template.
17:54 sekjal it works. the content isn't necessarily optimized on page load, but CSS can do a lot of good here
17:55 slef ok, what severity is Browse Results being easy to confuse?
17:55 oleonard Seems like a good start alaquerre
17:55 slef I think it's normal or major
17:55 sekjal alaqueree: I'm interested to see the patch
17:55 wizzyrea yea, at this point, the implementation taht's submitted first will probably be the one that goes in
17:55 wizzyrea none have been submitted
17:56 wizzyrea lots done, none submitted
17:56 sekjal at least not in a format that's viable for the testing process
17:56 jcamins wizzyrea: who knows, maybe mine could be the first!
17:56 wizzyrea :)
17:56 * wizzyrea has more confidence in yours being submitted in a testable way
17:56 jcamins (no, I have no intention of working on a mobile interface)
17:56 sekjal two different levels possible: mobile CSS, or mobile template
17:57 sekjal mobile CSS will be much easier to do
17:57 jcamins I may do a patch to add an OPACIncludeJS syspref.
17:57 jenkins_koha Project Koha_master build #698: SUCCESS in 47 min: http://jenkins.koha-community.org/job/Koha_master/698/
17:57 jenkins_koha * dpavlin: Bug 7766 - C4/Auth.pm: emit DEBUG output to STDERR
17:57 sekjal but less optimized on a content/function level
17:57 jenkins_koha * mjr: bug 7284: fix package build problem, move BEGIN into new
17:57 jenkins_koha * colin.campbell: Stop unnecessary warnings in get_language
17:57 huginn 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=7766 normal, P5 - low, ---, dpavlin, Pushed to Master , C4/Auth.pm emits debug output to STDOUT
17:57 huginn 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=7284 major, P3, ---, jcamins, Pushed to Master , Authority matching algorithm improvements
17:57 * jcamins would go with the mobile CSS option.
17:57 kyleh          alaquerre++
17:57 sekjal mobile app would only be worthwhile for the staff client
17:57 wizzyrea patch or it didn't happen :P
17:57 alaquerre Well, we will submit the patch ounce it's clean and that we like our display... If the community refuse it that's okay :-)
17:57 sekjal but that could be done in HTML5/CSS3/JQuery, and then compiled for whatever platform with Phonegap
17:58 jcamins wizzyrea: that was in the subjunctive. It definitely didn't happen. :P
17:58 wizzyrea like i said, seems unlikely
17:58 jcamins It seems unlikely a mobile interface would be rejected *if it were easy to test and incorporate*.
17:58 jcamins (important proviso there)
17:59 wizzyrea jcamins: no, what I'm saying is " unless you sent a patch, it effectively was never written"
17:59 jcamins wizzyrea: oh, sorry, misunderstood.
17:59 wizzyrea hehe sok
18:00 alaquerre :-) I dont know all the implementations but I understand it's very easy to put in place. Guys from Libeo has work on it and we asked them to make sure it can be push out to the community so I am pretty sure it will be doable. After that you guys have the control ;-)
18:01 wizzyrea yup yup
18:02 kyleh I must say, this seems like a better alternative than the mobile templates variation I had proposed.
18:02 sekjal yes, the mobile CSS technique has the possibility of being very elegantly simple at the abstract level
18:03 sekjal how it's managed in the staff client will be the real trick, I think... I can think of a couple ways to do it
18:03 sekjal as I said, will be interested to see the patch
18:04 * jcamins doesn't particularly care about a mobile skin for the staff client, to be honest.
18:05 jcamins Unless it had an inventory tool.
18:05 jcamins *That* would be useful.
18:05 jcamins But the rest? Circulation, etc.? I don't really see a point.
18:06 sekjal jcamins: I think the staff client mobile app would be a completely different beast
18:06 sekjal using the camera to scan barcodes would be the main trick, I think
18:06 sekjal for inventory, rebarcoding projects, and even, yes, circ
18:07 sekjal a built-in foot-traffic or headcount tool would also be handy
18:07 sekjal doing things that really make use of the mobile hardware and form factor
18:07 sekjal mobile cataloging support.... not a high priority
18:07 jcamins The thing about circ, though, is if you want to do mobile circ, you want to do it because it makes things faster.
18:08 alaquerre FYI : Circ from opac-user would be much better but library need to be linked to the security stuff. ( That's a long term project here )
18:09 sekjal well, actually... mobile cataloging by scanning a EAN/UPC/ISBN barcode
18:09 sekjal that's exactly what I want to do first for my home library
18:09 alaquerre So user is taking what ever document, scan barcode from his smartphone and get out without going at the frontdesk :-)
18:10 oleonard That's self-checkout, and we have a web-based version of it
18:10 jcamins I don't see how it would be faster to use a phone than a self-check machine.
18:10 jcamins (or a regular circ workstation)
18:10 jcamins sekjal: right, that was subsumed in my "inventory" idea.
18:10 jcamins alaquerre: that's on the OPAC.
18:10 jcamins alaquerre: I'm talking about mobile circ on the staff client not seeming very practical.
18:11 jcamins (not that I'd object if someone had an implementation, of course)
18:12 alaquerre jcamins: really... self-checkout exist in koha ? Is it link to the security stuff ( dont know how to say it in english) so the alarm wont bell when you get out?
18:12 alaquerre anti-theif
18:13 sekjal jcamins: if nothing else, it'd force us to write a very efficient web service for circulation protocols... one that's as fast and optimized as possible
18:13 sekjal that could be reused in the standard client, as well
18:13 sekjal alaquerre: no, our self-check doesn't have a way to connect to an anti-theft detector machine
18:13 jcamins alaquerre: I don't use self-check much. oleonard knows more about it. I presume it would work with RFID, not so well with magnetic strips.
18:14 alaquerre Yes that's what I was talking about... Library need to place the RFID in place.
18:23 oleonard Is it time for test-minded folks like myself to be running Plack on the off-chance I notice a bug? Or is it not there yet?
18:24 * cait waves
18:25 jcamins oleonard: my understanding is that it's not really an "off-chance' that you'll notice bugs in Plack.
18:25 jcamins oleonard: the fact that Plack doesn't catch syspref changes has persuaded me that I don't want to run it on my development system yet.
18:25 jcamins Restarting the web server several times to test a feature seems like a huge nuisance.
18:26 oleonard Testing does involve a lot of pref-changing
18:27 jcamins I think dpavlin has a plan for making it work, so once Plack and sysprefs play nice together I'll revisit the question of Plack.
18:27 sekjal mixing Plack testing and other bug testing would give less than fully scientific results
18:30 * oleonard is all about being fully scientific!
18:30 sekjal FOR SCIENCE!
18:30 jcamins Did someone say...
18:30 jcamins wizzyrea?
18:30 wahanui I LIKE SCIENCE
18:37 libsysguy does anybody on mess with acqui much?
18:37 jcamins cait does.
18:38 libsysguy seen cait?
18:38 wahanui cait was last seen on #koha 13 minutes and 12 seconds ago, saying: waves [Wed Apr 4 18:24:18 2012]
18:38 cait I am here
18:38 libsysguy hi cait
18:38 cait hi libsysguy
18:38 libsysguy I have a question
18:38 cait ohoh
18:38 cait ok :)
18:38 libsysguy when you receive a shipment and you go to the next page koha automatically assumes that you received the shipment today
18:39 libsysguy is that how it is supposed to be or is that supposed to be set to the shipment date/
18:39 cait I think it sounds wrong
18:39 cait should be the shipment date
18:39 libsysguy ok that is what the person at my library thinks too
18:39 libsysguy and it makes sense to do it that way
18:40 libsysguy so ill see if I can patch that
18:40 cait oleonard: I lost track - how many have you done now? and is opac done? (capitalisation)
18:40 cait cool :)
18:40 libsysguy bug 5339 makes acquisitions so much better
18:40 cait perhaps it's a missing parameter or something
18:40 huginn 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=5339 enhancement, P3, ---, julian.maurice, Needs Signoff , Parcel closing in acq
18:40 cait yeah
18:40 cait we are getting there
18:40 cait is that in yet?
18:41 libsysguy ugh no
18:41 oleonard I've done includes, Acqui, Admin, Authorities, Cataloging, Catalogue
18:41 libsysguy I am trying cait
18:41 oleonard All in the staff client
18:41 libsysguy but it seems like every time Julian rebases it, it goes out of date again
18:41 cait oleonard: was thinking perhaps to start on opac - what did paul say? friday?
18:41 cait or thursday?
18:41 cait libsysguy: lots of changes pushed there
18:41 cait it#s one of the most active modules I think
18:41 cait but all for the better :)
18:41 libsysguy yeah well its basically parcel that is always in conflict
18:42 oleonard "Friday/Monday" I thought he said.... Not sure what that means :)
18:42 libsysguy but I feel bad because i sign off on it and then if it gets to QA its already out of date
18:42 cait heh me neither :)
18:42 libsysguy i don't know ho wto solve that
18:42 cait I think he does not count weekends?
18:42 cait libsysguy: keep testing
18:42 cait :)
18:42 libsysguy haha
18:42 cait and bribe sekjal with chocolate :)
18:43 libsysguy lol sekjal is always good about getting to something if you request it
18:43 libsysguy      sekjal++
18:43 oleonard Except that time I asked him to re-write Search.pm. Slacker.
18:44 libsysguy haha poor search.pm
18:44 libsysguy wait…is that the one with the memory leaks?
18:44 sekjal :)
18:44 oleonard It's the one that take candy from children every time it runs
18:44 jcamins libsysguy: among other problems.
18:45 jcamins ^^ ... and adds poison to the candy before giving it out to kittens.
18:45 * libsysguy forms a mob
18:45 cait heh
18:45 * libsysguy sharpens code pitchfork
18:59 * oleonard bemoans the lack of hours in the day
19:00 libsysguy ^^
19:02 libsysguy i usually just forego sleep to get more stuff done
19:04 jcamins Bug 5335
19:04 huginn 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=5335 enhancement, P5 - low, ---, jonathan.druart, Needs Signoff , More granular VAT
19:04 cait libsysguy: that works for you?
19:04 * jcamins heads home.
19:05 libsysguy cait usually….but I read today that not sleeping well or at all inhibits your bodies ability to produce insulin
19:05 libsysguy basically giving you type 2 diabetes for the day
19:05 cait well... and it makes you go crazy
19:05 libsysguy im already crazy :p
19:07 cait 5335 is conflicting too :(
19:09 wizzyrea real conflicts or db update conflicts
19:11 libsysguy [off] heh maybe is a database conflict with a mysqlism
19:11 libsysguy on a seperate note, who has seen the new HUD from google
19:12 libsysguy sekjal question
19:12 sekjal shoot
19:12 libsysguy is Dates being replaced by Koha::Calendar
19:13 libsysguy or is it just C4:Calendar that is being replaced
19:13 libsysguy i guess I've always been a little confused by the two
19:13 sekjal I think we may eventually be in a place to phase out C4::Dates... but not quite yet
19:13 sekjal now that we have a dep on DateTime
19:14 libsysguy I was about to start working on some acqui stuff and it has heavy use on C4::dates
19:14 libsysguy and I thought about making the changes while I was working on it
19:14 libsysguy but I don't know if that should be a separate ticket
19:14 libsysguy or if we should be making changes as we come across them
19:15 wizzyrea [off] he was here earlier, but left. I thought our publicly logged chat made him uncomfortable. Who knows.
19:15 libsysguy [off] I think he is just going to start just lurking
19:16 sekjal libsysguy: looking at what C4::Dates has to offer, I think we can start working to phase it out
19:16 sekjal but you may want to check with some other developers on that, too
19:16 libsysguy fair enough
19:17 libsysguy I won't change anything yet but does anybody else that is on have any opinions about the Dates situation?
19:20 sekjal time to talk about Falcons! brb
19:27 cait libsysguy: hm
19:27 cait not sure, but I think dates got moved to the koha namespace when the plugin did?
19:27 cait I mean the dates plugin?
19:28 cait hm ignore me - i don't make sene
19:28 cait sense
19:28 libsysguy there is a DatesUtils.pm
19:28 libsysguy but I don't see Dates.pm
19:28 cait ah
19:28 cait confusing them then
19:28 libsysguy I think what sekjal meant was that we added the DateTime pacakge as a dependency and it does everything and more that C4::Dates does
19:29 libsysguy so if we could phase it out it would be good
19:29 libsysguy but we don't want to rush it
19:29 cait ah ok
19:30 libsysguy im just working on acquisitions for my senior project and thought it might be cool to get it moved over
19:31 rangi Morning
19:31 libsysguy morning
19:31 wahanui morning is probably a state of mind.
19:31 libsysguy wahanui morning is a slow state of mind
19:31 wahanui ...but morning is a state of mind....
19:32 cait morning rangi
19:33 wizzyrea mornin rangi
19:33 cait wizzyrea: were real conflicts :( noted on the bug
19:33 wizzyrea boo
19:33 cait wizzyrea: looked at the first one but was not so easy to fix, so back to rebasing
19:35 * libsysguy doesn't like rebasing so much
19:38 libsysguy cait
19:38 libsysguy question
19:38 wahanui question is, like, "What is the meaning of life, the universe and everything?"
19:38 libsysguy hehe
19:38 cait libsysguy: noone does
19:38 cait but we are moving fast now with big changes
19:38 cait it happens
19:38 libsysguy anyway…my library wanted to know if it would be ok to add an additional field for extra data in an invoice
19:39 libsysguy like an invoicenotes field
19:39 cait like a note field?
19:39 libsysguy yeah
19:39 libsysguy i thought there was one
19:39 cait for each thing you receive? for for the shipment?
19:39 libsysguy for the shipment
19:39 cait makes sense to me
19:39 cait we have notes everywhere
19:39 libsysguy they want it to add an account id for our accounting system
19:39 libsysguy heh
19:39 cait librarians love notes :)
19:40 libsysguy well I can't really call it "Points Plus ID"
19:40 libsysguy :p
19:41 cait huh?
19:41 cait :)
19:42 cait what is that? :)
19:42 libsysguy Points Plus is the name of our accounting software
19:42 cait aah
19:42 cait makes sense
19:42 libsysguy I need to send Julian a beer for the work he did on acquisitions
19:43 libsysguy this is really good stuff
19:46 rangi Yay pizza Thursday
19:47 cait mmh pizza
19:50 libsysguy wants food
19:50 libsysguy :'(
19:50 libsysguy starving developer lol
19:51 rangi My bus stop bbiab
19:55 cait           libsysguy++
19:55 cait you make me laugh :)
19:56 libsysguy i do what i can cait :)
20:07 rangi back
20:07 rangi and with a hot cross bun
20:08 sekjal back
20:09 oleonard gone
20:14 cait rangi: and no buns for us? :)
20:14 rangi i gave one to a german
20:14 rangi does that count?
20:14 rangi :)
20:14 cait that doesn't count
20:15 cait but I am sure anitsirk deserved one
20:15 libsysguy seen julian_m
20:15 wahanui julian_m was last seen on #koha 2 days, 13 hours, 21 minutes and 1 seconds ago, saying: hello magnuse [Mon Apr 2 06:54:09 2012]
20:15 rangi hehe
20:18 sekjal libsysguy: I think we can remove all of the C4::Dates dependencies from C4::Circ now
20:18 libsysguy sick!
20:19 sekjal most of it is documentation
20:19 libsysguy not so sick :'(
20:19 libsysguy lol
20:19 sekjal there is one called to C4::Date->new(), which is then not utilized anywhere
20:20 libsysguy i have found quite a few of those laying around
20:20 sekjal and one call to C4::Dates->regexp which is in a conditional with a Never True thing
20:20 sekjal another call to ->today() which is commented out
20:20 libsysguy speaking of a never true thing…something you might appreciate that i found in one of my friends code
20:21 libsysguy      i found an if(1 == 0) { some code that he wanted to comment out}
20:21 sekjal lol
20:21 sekjal I've done that
20:21 libsysguy i didn't catch it for a good half hour when debugging
20:21 rangi i do that with the next/previous/browse thing
20:21 libsysguy i don't ever look at whats in the if
20:22 rangi until you guys fix that for me
20:22 rangi :)
20:22 libsysguy the only thing I've used that for is to move to the other side of the page
20:22 * libsysguy hates how facets are on the left and then one click later the layout has changed
20:23 rangi your ideas are intriguing to me, and i wish to subscribe to your newsletter
20:25 libsysguy o_0
20:26 libsysguy rangi you talking to me?
20:26 rangi too young for that eh?
20:26 libsysguy maybe…or too slow
20:26 libsysguy maybe if you speak slower :p
20:26 rangi https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXesMkAYh44
20:26 libsysguy and in smaller words...
20:27 libsysguy lol
20:27 * rangi recycles old memes
20:27 sekjal C4/circ also uses format_date in two places, in the needsconfirmation message
20:27 libsysguy yeah my parents are hard core conservatives and forbid me from watching that show
20:27 sekjal that can be replaced with KohaDates plugin
20:27 rangi im guessing family guy was out too :)
20:27 libsysguy yup :-\
20:27 rangi itchy and scratchy?
20:28 libsysguy also we didn't have cable/satellite till I was in highschool
20:28 libsysguy no idea
20:28 libsysguy :'(
20:28 wizzyrea my parents are not so hard core, but the simpsons was deemed "filthy" along with fresh prince of bel aire

20:30 libsysguy sweet
20:30 libsysguy is there a bug 1

20:31 gmcharlt it's still missing! ;)
20:31 libsysguy LOL man who closed that one
20:31 libsysguy *looks around*
20:32 rangi i bet it went it and came out :)
20:32 rangi we dont even have database.mysql anymore :)
20:33 rangi that was back in the database.psql and database.mysql days

20:36 rangi old school!
20:36 rangi it was hella fast tho ;)
20:36 mbalmer mmm, curses
20:37 liw speed is a feature
20:37 mbalmer .. we lack
20:37 libsysguy mbalmer wb
20:37 rangi koha 1, everything except circ was web based
20:38 rangi circ was using CDK
20:38 rangi then switched to Curses::UI
20:38 rangi and flirted with Perl::Tk
20:38 wizzyrea did you bat your eyelashes at it?
20:38 * libsysguy pictures rangi doing to duck face
20:39 libsysguy the*
20:40 cait lol
20:40 slef better than o face
20:40 libsysguy ^^ lol
20:41 wizzyrea 245c, we do not show it on the XSLT display - why?
20:41 wizzyrea just cuzn no one has added it?
20:42 rangi http://photos.bigballofwax.co.nz/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=159 <-- tk
20:42 wizzyrea ah it's so fun to look at our roots :)
20:42 cait wizzyrea: because we show all the persons and authors in another wa
20:42 cait y
20:42 cait wizzyrea: would be doubled up
20:42 wizzyrea hmmmmm
20:42 mbalmer maybe one day sth Qt based?
20:42 slef do they need dying?
20:43 slef qt--
20:43 cait wizzyrea: and I think we do that, because we want to link them
20:43 wizzyrea not the opac
20:43 wizzyrea the staff client
20:43 cait $c is like on the book... you don't want to build search links from that
20:43 wahanui the staff client is for the staff in the library, OPAC is for patrons
20:43 mbalmer Qt is a memory hog, it's a monster
20:43 cait results or details?
20:43 slef does qt still abuse the preprocessor?
20:43 wizzyrea details
20:43 cait we show authors there?
20:43 cait you confuse me!
20:43 cait but I am tired... so it's probably me :)
20:44 wizzyrea the c is statement of responsibility, different from authors
20:44 drojf hi #koha
20:44 rangi hi drojf
20:44 drojf hi rangi
20:45 cait wizzyrea: yes... but most of the time doubles with fields 1xx or 7xx?
20:45 wizzyrea apparently not in our catalog.
20:46 wizzyrea possibly they should be putting that #$%& somewhere else.
20:46 wizzyrea :P
20:47 cait what is in there?
20:47 cait in the $c you want to display?
20:47 wizzyrea http://screencast.com/t/kt21EqlN
20:47 cait hi drojf
20:47 cait more duct tape?
20:47 cait oh
20:48 cait one author and 2 illustrators?
20:48 drojf lol cait i'm actually here to see if it's really irc that kills my connection. i had no problems after the meeting
20:48 cait I hope it's not irc
20:48 cait wizzyrea: I think they are right where they are, but you can probably but them somewhere else too and give them a nice relator code
20:49 drojf it would be pretty weird if it was
20:49 wizzyrea yea, that's not going to work for us
20:49 wizzyrea because all of our records have it this way
20:49 cait speaking about relator codes - I am not sure I like how those diplay in opac now :(
20:49 * wizzyrea will have to do a custom xslt I guess.
20:49 cait wizzyrea: local xslt file... ?
20:49 * wizzyrea swears a lot
20:49 cait and it will double pu
20:49 cait with 100
20:49 wizzyrea I guess they don't care.
20:49 wizzyrea or they think they don't care
20:49 wizzyrea they won't care until they have to stare at it.
20:49 cait until they see it :)
20:50 cait yeah
20:50 cait I know
20:50 * cait sends you cookies
20:50 wizzyrea lol
20:50 wizzyrea ty
20:50 wizzyrea so the next question - how to make the local xslt, just copy what we have and add to it?
20:52 cait yes you can do that
20:52 * wizzyrea will do that and probably end up swearing.
20:52 cait hm
20:52 cait but the pref for local xslt is quite new
20:52 rangi luckily
20:52 slef wizzyrea: that seems simplest... or yould maybe xinclude the old one then override it but it depends how it is parsed and I've not read it recently
20:52 cait which version are you looking at?
20:52 wizzyrea 3.6.4
20:52 rangi yeah not in that
20:52 cait nope
20:52 rangi wont be in 3.6.x
20:52 cait so have to change your files
20:52 wizzyrea can't do that
20:53 wizzyrea (myself)
20:53 cait ah
20:53 cait hm
20:54 cait then... you will have to tell them no
20:54 cait it's hard sometimes, but after you did it will feel good ;)
20:54 wizzyrea heh
20:54 wizzyrea except for the weeks and weeks and weeks of whining I'll have to endure.
20:54 wizzyrea ;)
20:55 wizzyrea apparently we show it in "normal" view
20:55 cait wizzyrea: it's been like that forever
20:55 cait ever ever
20:55 wizzyrea no I know, we just switched to xslt today
20:55 wizzyrea from normal
20:55 cait ah
20:55 cait you could switch back
20:55 wizzyrea we could
20:55 wizzyrea it's true.
20:56 * wizzyrea labors against a sunk cost fallacy.
20:56 cait ?
20:56 * wizzyrea says %$*& it and changes it back.
20:56 libsysguy sekjal you still around
21:07 bag libsysguy: you scared away sekjal
21:07 rangi heh
21:07 libsysguy heh
21:07 libsysguy yeah I guess so…sadly
21:07 libsysguy oh well…i guess I'll bug him about smart rules some other time
21:14 cait @later sekjal: could you take a look at 7175? it complements another change that's already in - bug 7178
21:14 huginn cait: I'll give you the answer just as soon as RDA is ready
21:14 cait @later tell sekjal: could you take a look at 7175? it complements another change that's already in - bug 7178
21:14 huginn cait: The operation succeeded.

21:50 * wizzyrea bops about
21:58 libsysguy_afk misses rangi's music selections for the day
21:58 libsysguy_afk I should have come to the meeting today and voted for rangi to be the new music manager
21:58 rangi heh
21:59 wizzyrea later peps :)
21:59 libsysguy_afk laterz
22:00 cait later wizzyrea and good night all
22:00 rangi cya wizzyrea and cait
22:09 libsysguy anybody know where there is a good example of ajax usage for adding things in koha?
22:11 eythian what kind of things?
22:12 libsysguy well I am enhancing bug 5339 to be able to add/remove invoice items from the invoice details page
22:12 huginn 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=5339 enhancement, P3, ---, julian.maurice, Failed QA , Parcel closing in acq
22:12 libsysguy but i guess it could be similar to the smart rules
22:13 rangi sysprefs uses ajax
22:13 libsysguy only better because I think the smart rules do a pretty bad job of what they do
22:13 libsysguy hmm ok
22:13 rangi smart rules isnt ajax afaik
22:13 libsysguy yeah I know…thats why they are so bad :p
22:13 libsysguy jk
22:13 rangi also i think staging marc does some ajaxy stuffs
22:14 libsysguy staging would probably be a good example
22:14 libsysguy i just need somewhere to start to see how koha handles ajax
22:14 libsysguy and what I'd need to write
22:18 libsysguy I got a ticket the other day that would like this enhancement: 1.	Fix publication date so that it is not in the DD/MM/YYYY format. You should be able to enter publication dates as year only, month and year, or season.
22:18 libsysguy how plausible is that
22:19 rangi lol
22:19 rangi not realistic
22:19 libsysguy haha

23:52 BSES Hello all - first timer - please excuse lapses in etiquette
23:52 BSES Can anyone help with quick question about subject headings - searching as a phrase
23:53 eythian BSES: you should ask your question, that way people will know if they can help :)
23:54 BSES We would like our subject headings to appear in OPAC as a searchable phrase including subheadings - is this possible?
23:55 BSES At the moment each division appears as a separate link
23:58 BSES Oh, apologises, we are using Koha 3.6 and are still in testing phase
