04:14 Oak hello #koha
04:17 rangi hi Oak
04:17 Oak heya rangi :)
04:40 rangi ohh good to see osslabs setting up some enhancements in bugzilla
04:46 chilts is osslabs using Koha now?
04:50 rangi http://www.osslabs.biz/ <-- these guys
04:52 chilts ah, they're the guys who do some stuff for NZRS
04:53 chilts or maybe not ... anyway, that's good they're running it :)
04:54 eythian chilts: osslabs are in India
04:54 chilts heh, won't be them then :)
04:54 * chilts is thinking of someone else
05:48 cait good morning #koha
05:48 cait @wunder Konstanz
05:48 huginn cait: The current temperature in Taegerwilen, Taegerwilen, Germany is 19.1C (7:44 AM CEST on August 22, 2011). Conditions: Clear. Humidity: 96%. Dew Point: 18.0C. Pressure: 30.03 in 1016.8 hPa (Steady).
06:26 marcelr hello koha
06:30 magnuse hiya marcelr
06:30 marcelr hi magnuse
06:31 cait morning magnuse and marcelr :)
06:32 magnuse guten morgen cait
06:33 cait magnuse: rangi said he has perhaps a fix for the language chooser problem :)
06:33 magnuse yay
06:35 marcelr hi cait
06:37 eythian hi magnuse
06:38 magnuse kia ora eythian
06:38 magnuse eythian: i have been trying to update the man page for koha-create, should have it submitted in a day or two, i think
06:39 eythian awesome :)
06:39 eythian I need to learn how to make man pages.
06:39 magnuse me too ;-)
06:39 magnuse i found an appendix about it in a book on shell scripting
06:39 eythian sweet
06:40 eythian Which book? If it's an O'Reilly one I could buy it easily enough.
06:41 magnuse classic shell scripting
06:41 eythian who's the publisher?
06:41 magnuse http://oreilly.com/catalog/9780596005955
06:41 eythian cool.
06:42 magnuse it's more of a long example, i'd guess there are good guides/descriptions to be had on line too
06:43 magnuse and if we use the koha-create one as a pattern it should be easy to do the others, i thinl
06:43 eythian NZ$6.50

06:44 isen071 Hello everybody, I've just installed koha 3.02.10.000. I have a problem with the dontmerge systempreference... When I change an authority records thre is no effect on the associated biblios records. I read that dontmerge is no longer used and has been replaced by MergeAuthoritiesOnUpdate but I can't find this option in my version... Can someone help me ? Thanks.
06:44 eythian isen071: you know that 3.4 is the current stable release series, right? It's possible (I'm not sure) that that's been fixed there.
06:45 magnuse eythian: they sell o'reilly books as a android apps?
06:45 cait 3.2 is no longer maintained
06:45 eythian magnuse: yep, for a really good price, too.
06:45 eythian I think it's US$5
06:45 magnuse yeah, that's cheap!
06:46 eythian and it's downloading to my tablet now :)
06:46 isen071 eythian: thanks you but I need my koha in french and I think the 3.4 version doesn't support french langage yet...
06:46 magnuse yay!
06:47 eythian I really like the android web installer
06:47 * magnuse havn't tried it
06:47 eythian isen071: I'd be very surprised if it doesn't support french, but give it an hour and all the french folks will be online.
06:47 magnuse isen071: there are lots of libraries using koha in french
06:48 eythian magnuse: it's really handy. You just click 'install' on the website, pick which device you want it to install onto, and it immediately starts installing.
06:48 cait bye all
06:48 magnuse eythian: and what sort of tablet do you use?
06:48 isen071 I'll try to install the 3.4 version. Thanks.
06:50 eythian magnuse: I got myself an Asus Transformer. It's nice because it has a detachable keyboard that gives it a huge chunk of extra battery life.
06:50 magnuse yay
06:51 magnuse transformer, eh? does it turn into a car too? ;-)
06:52 eythian and because O'Reilly is good and gives it to you as a DRM-free epub, I can transfer it to my ereader easily if I want to.
06:52 eythian alas, no. That'd be handy, but probably make it too heavy.
06:52 alex_a morning #koha
06:53 eythian alex_a: hello
06:53 eythian isen071: it looks like alex_a is the first Francophone here who may be able to answer your question.
06:53 magnuse eythian: wizzyrea was saying good things about it on G+ too - i wonder if that is a sign? i have a kindle, but i don't find that too good for reading those lovely DRM-free O'reilly books...
06:54 magnuse bonjour alex_a
06:54 eythian magnuse: I wouldn't touch a kindle with a long stick. But I have two other ereaders, so it doesn't matter :)
06:55 eythian I tried to use the tablet for reading a book on, and it's not ideal. The shiny, and backlit, screen makes it a bit problematic. But it'll be fine for looking up references.
06:55 alex_a eythian: I have recomended isen071 to come here for ask people last friday :)
06:55 eythian ah I see :)
06:55 alex_a :)
06:55 magnuse i have only bought two e-books from amazon... i wanted it because it was supposed to be a real good e-ink reader, and i wanted to see what that was like
06:56 magnuse yeah, i'm sceptical about the shiny screen... hm, where's that prefect device, i wonder?
06:56 eythian yeah, I bought a cheap one that a local bookseller was selling, aside from being a bit slow, it's a nice little machine. And I have one that's dual screen, with the other screen being an android tablet (but much less good tablet-wise than my new one)
06:57 eythian but the eink side of it is great for reading on.
06:57 magnuse ah, interesting combo!
06:57 eythian http://www.entourageedge.nl/entourage-pocket-edge/ <-- it's this, but the US company has gone out of business recently.
06:58 eythian annoyingly without releasing their SDK or source code.
06:59 magnuse :-(
06:59 magnuse nice gizmo, though ;-)
07:00 magnuse kia ora hdl
07:00 reiveune hello
07:01 eythian magnuse: it is quite nice. It's small and handy.
07:01 eythian But I'll probably switch back to my Kobo now I have a real tablet, anyway.
07:01 eythian Mostly so I don't end up carrying 3 android devices around all the time, because that seems like taking it a bit too far ;)
07:02 eythian (also, the kobo is very light)
07:03 magnuse eythian: yeah, 3 sounds like 1 or 2 too many...
07:03 eythian well, I need my phone...:)
07:03 eythian ...and my tablet
07:03 eythian ...I just don't need two tablets
07:03 magnuse ok, 1 too many, then ;-)
07:28 francharb morning koha
07:43 rangi evening
07:45 magnuse morning rangi
08:00 kf good morning #koha
08:00 rangi hi kf
08:05 kf evening rangi :)
08:05 eythian hi
08:05 kf and hi eythian :)
08:05 kf how was monday?
08:05 eythian it's still going ;)
08:06 rangi not too bad, got quite a lot done
08:06 kf hope it will be the same here :)
08:06 kf @wunder Konstanz
08:06 huginn kf: The current temperature in Taegerwilen, Taegerwilen, Germany is 23.2C (10:04 AM CEST on August 22, 2011). Conditions: Clear. Humidity: 85%. Dew Point: 21.0C. Pressure: 30.02 in 1016.5 hPa (Falling).
08:06 kf hm, feels a lot warmer already
08:07 eythian I'm almost done getting some code to the point where I'm OK having my name on it :)
08:07 kf :)
08:07 kf what does it do?
08:08 eythian allows users to add star ratings to biblios
08:09 kf ah
08:09 kf thought mtj was working on something like that?
08:10 eythian yep, I've taken that, upgraded it to work in 3.4, and am giving it a whole load of spit-and-polish.
08:11 kf :)
08:12 * magnuse is not sure he wants his koha code with spit on it... ;-)
08:12 magnuse anyway: yay!
08:12 eythian heh :)
08:16 kf hehe
08:22 * magnuse is looking forward to the day when all clients are hosted with the packages
08:23 eythian yeah, it makes things much easier.
08:23 rangi package everything i say :)
08:23 eythian why do you want everything you say packaged?
08:23 rangi to make it easier to remember what i said
08:23 magnuse lol!
08:24 magnuse and then just give it numbers...
08:24 magnuse @quote get 123
08:24 huginn magnuse: Quote #123: "rangi: #thingsihavelearnt if there is a mad scheme a library somewhere will be doing it ... except madder" (added by wizzyrea at 09:20 PM, March 30, 2011)
08:24 rangi heh
08:24 magnuse clever scheme!
08:25 magnuse i guess the #koha logs are a start...
08:27 Brooke ata marie
08:27 rangi hi Brooke
08:27 magnuse kia ora Brooke
08:27 Brooke :)
08:31 eythian OK, now all that's left is to clean up the database schema. That can wait for tomorrow though.
08:31 Brooke those tricksy database schemata, always gettin' emselves in trouble
08:32 eythian ah, it's just got some unnecessary bits the way it is, and the key setup isn't optimal for what it's mostly doing. So I need to sort that out.
08:32 * eythian leaves work now
08:33 Brooke cheers mate!
08:38 magnuse leaving work at 8.40 pm? tch!
08:39 Brooke inorite?
08:39 Brooke I feel like it should be on the list of "You might be involved with Koha if..."
08:39 magnuse ;-)
08:40 Brooke bonjour
08:40 wahanui niihau, Brooke
08:52 Oak hello #koha
08:52 Oak Brooke !!!
08:52 Brooke hey hey :)
08:53 Oak how are ya?
08:53 Brooke good enough for gummint woik
08:53 Brooke you?
08:53 wahanui rumour has it you is ketchup Oak's friend, you
08:53 Oak good good
08:53 Oak i'm okay
08:53 Brooke wahanui, you are so much dumber than Zoia, it's not even funny.
08:53 wahanui ...but wahanui is a bot|a repository of important and useful and accurate information...
08:54 rangi zoia is a supybot the same as huginn
08:54 Oak hola senorita kf
09:22 kf hola senor Oak
09:24 Oak :)
09:28 Brooke pffft, All Blacks losin' on penalties. The nerve.
09:29 kf hi Brooke :)
09:29 Brooke aloha
10:47 kf          sekjal++
10:49 Oak what did he do? :)
10:56 magnuse give a good answer on the mailinglist?
10:58 kf yep
11:17 magnuse wanders off in search of nourishment
11:38 oakivil hello #koha
11:52 magnuse hiya oakivil
11:53 kf hi oakivil
11:53 oakivil importing patron data from our current system
11:53 lastnode hi
11:53 lastnode im just wondering if there isa guide for setting up koha ons hared hosting?
11:53 lastnode i really want to demo it for someone but i dont have access to a vps
11:53 oakivil but now thinking about importing items
11:53 kf oakivil: into koha? yay!
11:53 oakivil i just imported biblios
11:53 oakivil well 2 weeks ago
11:54 oakivil now importing patrons using patron_import perl script
11:54 oakivil but it seems that items need to be injected directly into the database in koha 3.4+ ?
11:54 kf si this the one used for the gui too?
11:55 kf for 3.2 the best way was importing them with the bibliographic records I think
11:55 oakivil http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Holdings_data_fields_%289xx%29
11:55 kf in 952 fields formatted the way koha wants it
11:55 oakivil says inject into items-table
11:55 kf for 3.4 you can still do that
11:55 kf but I wonder if you can now inject directly into the items table too
11:55 oakivil ok
11:55 oakivil i think i go with the bulkmarcimport.pl
11:56 kf I have not tried it yet but I think it should work
11:56 kf you have to be careful with you biblionumbers
11:56 oakivil because i already have a program that works well with text files
11:56 oakivil yeah
11:56 kf ah ok
11:56 kf if you import items using 952 make sure you have the important fields correctly
11:56 kf $a AND $b should have the branchcode of your library
11:57 oakivil ok
11:57 kf call number and barcode ($o and $p) are also good
11:57 oakivil the wiki has pretty good instructions
11:57 kf cool :)
11:57 oakivil i think i can do it with those
11:58 kf yes, the page looks pretty good
11:58 oakivil what is "Koha full call number" as in items.itemcallnumber-column
11:58 kf was not aware we had it :)
11:58 oakivil ?
11:58 kf the normal call number
11:58 kf of the item
11:59 oakivil and what is that?
11:59 wahanui that is the problem
11:59 kf the label on the book that indicates where the item can be found on shelf :)
11:59 oakivil shelving number?
11:59 kf the german word is signatur... not sure that helps here
11:59 kf if you are using numbers (numerus currens?) in your library, you can use that
11:59 magnuse hyllesignatur in norwegian
12:00 oakivil ok
12:00 kf it's what the patron uses to locate the book in the library
12:00 oakivil ok
12:00 oakivil got it
12:00 magnuse oakivil: are you importing data for a migration or just for testing?
12:00 oakivil testing
12:01 oakivil and to prove that it can be done
12:01 magnuse yay! :-)
12:01 oakivil bosses are skeptical about the whole migration issue
12:01 oakivil so I try to prove them wrong
12:01 magnuse way to go!
12:01 magnuse thousands of libraries have been able to do it before
12:02 oakivil yeah
12:02 oakivil but it's hard
12:02 magnuse so why shouldn't you? :-)
12:02 oakivil finding the relevant information and connecting the right bits in the right places
12:04 kf I think it's hard with every system
12:04 kf migrations I mean - never fun, but doable :)
12:05 oakivil if somebody would just tel me what to do it would be so easy :D
12:05 oakivil if i knew the right questions
12:05 oakivil but im getting there
12:05 kf what is your current system?
12:06 oakivil Koha is on Ubuntu 11.04
12:06 kf there is a collection of perl scripts for migration purposes in druthb' repository
12:06 oakivil Koha 3.4
12:06 kf ah, the current ILS your library uses
12:06 oakivil ah current system is PallasPro
12:06 oakivil it is a tailor made Finnish program
12:06 oakivil and no finn has tread where I tread now
12:07 kf http://gitorious.org/koha-toolbox
12:07 oakivil or maybe a couple has
12:08 magnuse a few finnish people have looked at koha, but i have not heard of any migrations
12:09 magnuse oakivil: you can always ask about anything on irc and the mail lists - a together i think most problems have been solved by at least one of us some time or other... ;-)
12:20 oleonard Hey #koha.
12:21 nengard morning oleonard
12:22 nengard @later tell chris_n sorry i missed your message from 2 days ago, was on the road all week, but it looks like someone else got that patch signed off on
12:22 huginn nengard: The operation succeeded.
12:23 oleonard Someone else wanted that gold.
12:23 lastnode does anyone know the liblime pricing?
12:23 lastnode just a ballpark?
12:24 lastnode (forkoha hosting)
12:24 oleonard We don't do Liblime here.
12:24 oleonard Liblime is not Koha.
12:24 lastnode i understand that
12:24 lastnode im not requesting support
12:24 lastnode im just weighing the pros and cons of self hosting vs hosted
12:24 lastnode if it's a problem, i wont discuss liblime, my bad
12:26 kf lastnode: liblime doesn't host koha too - so it's not so interesitng
12:26 kf most support providers do hosting
12:26 lastnode i meant support, kf
12:26 lastnode (as well)
12:27 lastnode im looking into vps options and want to weigh hosting vs hosting + support
12:27 kf hm, perhaps writing mails and asking directly is the best way to go then
12:27 kf you are in california, right?
12:28 lastnode no, colombo, sri lanka
12:28 lastnode im looking to roll out koha for a small pilot school here
12:28 lastnode witha library of 3k books or so
12:28 lastnode I'm nervous because that is a lot of data to be responsible for
12:28 kf oh!
12:28 kf sorry
12:28 lastnode adn im a hobbyist hacker (English teacher by trade)
12:29 kf confused you with someone else
12:29 lastnode np
12:29 kf have you seen the support providers list on koha-community.org?
12:30 lastnode no, let me have a look
12:30 lastnode found it, thanks
12:30 lastnode gotta head home, will be back later
12:30 lastnode thanks!

12:54 Oak @later tell Brooke http://xkcd.com/771/

13:12 oleonard Bam!
13:12 kf bam? :)
13:14 oleonard Yeah I was just, you know... uh, saying 'bam.'
13:15 libsysguy SWOOSH!
13:15 kf lol

13:39 sekjal can anyone else confirm that, despite removing the 952s from the MARC records, biblios with many, many items are still giving problems to Zebra when searching?
13:49 kf sekjal: perhaps ask liz?
13:49 wizzyrea how many
13:49 kf our libraries are too small - have not run into any problems yet
13:49 wizzyrea define "many" :)
13:49 sekjal wizzyrea: usually around 700 items I find things start to choke
13:50 oleonard Whoa, 700 items?
13:50 wizzyrea i'm not sure we have any with that many items
13:50 * oleonard is a small fry
13:50 nengard i think the 700 happens with serials
13:50 nengard in academics where they keep them forever
13:50 nengard and circualte them
13:51 sekjal it's usually bound serials issues on the Most Important periodicals

13:54 kf searching for ti... but hard
13:55 sekjal the record gets exported to Zebra, and as much of it as will fit in the 9999 bytes gets indexed, according to my direct searches in yaz-client

13:56 sekjal but the link to the details page is broken, because it always dies before getting to the 999

14:20 jcamins Good morning, #koha.
14:24 oleonard Hi jcamins
14:25 isen514 Hello everybody, I need help to get my koha works. Everything seems to be OK but when I try to book an item, I get the message : "No book available..."... Do you have an idea ?
14:25 oakivil Are you using Zebra indexer?
14:25 jcamins isen514: you need to have circulation rules and holds configured.
14:25 isen514 yes
14:25 jcamins oleonard: hello.
14:26 hdl try setting up your circulation and holds configuration files.
14:27 isen514 I've tried to configure my circulation rules : authorised everyone (for testing)...
14:29 nengard bug 6764 - i didn't even know there was a shelving location search option ...

14:32 oleonard That's less usable than providing a list of existing values to choose from.
14:32 kf hi jcamins
14:34 kf oleonard: checkboxes or a list twhere you can select multiple values would be cool too :)

14:39 jcamins Hi, kf. :)
14:39 nengard oleonard, yeah i knew about the one that failed qa - but didn't know about this one - which should have failed qa since it doesn't work and requires you enter a location code which patrons don't know
14:39 wizzyrea jcamins: I made the ricotta gnocchi
14:39 jcamins wizzyrea: how was it? kf said she was a little disappointed.
14:39 wizzyrea well I put mine with a tomato sauce
14:40 wizzyrea by themselves they're just gnocchi
14:40 wizzyrea surprisingly unsurprising
14:42 wizzyrea but, I would definitely make them again, because plopping ricotta in a bowl is a lot easier than mashing potatoes
14:42 jcamins :)
14:42 druthb hi, wizzyrea! :D
14:42 wizzyrea (and if you put them with a tasty sauce, they're quite delish)
14:43 wizzyrea hi thar
14:43 wizzyrea (and I can't help but think they might be less of a gut bomb than potato gnocchi, as ricotta is almost pure protein)

14:49 jcamins oleonard: with a sage butter sauce.
14:49 wizzyrea I did it with a caper/wine sauce
14:50 * oleonard checks his watch for proximity to lunchtime
14:50 jcamins That would probably be good too, but the sage butter sauce is so amazing that we never feel the desire to try something else.

14:52 nengard wizzyrea, sure send it along
14:52 nengard oh there it is :)
14:52 wizzyrea seriously though I was impressed at how fast the ricotta gnocchi came together.
14:52 wizzyrea I could easliy make that after work for a 6:30 dinnertime

14:53 wizzyrea (after procuring him a graham cracker)
14:54 oleonard Mmmmm... graham cracker. Are graham cracker's unique to USA?
14:55 wizzyrea hmm. good question

15:36 sekjal okay, I'm making some progress against the too-many-items issue
15:36 sekjal adding the 952s at the end helps, but isn't sufficient
15:37 sekjal the problem shifts to fix_biblio_id

15:38 sekjal yeah, that module needs an overhaul

15:55 hdl quite recently

15:57 hdl erm no.
16:00 hdl sekjal: about fix_biblio_ids, it is a problem we also had. We are using insert_fields_ordered rather than append_field
16:01 hdl But insert_field_before for marc21 should be more adapted.
16:01 sekjal hdl: I've mapped out the code, starting in the get_corrected_marc_record subroutine in rebuild_zebra.pl
16:01 wizzyrea hi melia
16:01 sekjal it's not a pretty sequence
16:01 hdl and we also had to limit the number of items inserted at indexing time ?
16:02 hdl and we also had to limit the number of items inserted at indexing time.
16:02 hdl where is the code ?
16:02 wahanui the code is kept at git.koha-community.org
16:02 hdl where is sekjal's code ?
16:02 sekjal hdl: rebuild_zebra.pl, around lines 429 to 490
16:03 sekjal then in C4/Biblio.pm, 1057 to 1080
16:04 hdl Is it on a git repository ?
16:05 sekjal hdl: I haven't written any patches against this yet; I'm just reading what's currently in Koha
16:05 sekjal trying to figure out what it's currently doing
16:05 sekjal so I can best optimize the changes
16:07 sekjal so, get_corrected_marc_record calls get_raw_marc_record, which calls GetMarcBiblio (without the embed param and only if you're using -x)
16:07 sekjal once it gets the record, it get_raw_marc_record does the EmbedItems...() subroutine
16:08 sekjal then returns the record to get_corrected_marc_record, which tries to fix_biblio_id
16:09 sekjal the updated 999 field is added in order, after all the 952s, which means it gets lost if the 952s put the record over filesize limit
16:09 sekjal what needs to happen is the fix_biblio_ids check needs to be done in GetMarcBiblio, before the Embed command
16:09 sekjal then Embed needs to be modified to append, rather than insert_ordered
16:10 sekjal we could also eliminate get_raw_marc_records call to Embed by passing the embed param to GetMarcBiblio
16:10 sekjal simplify things a little
16:11 sekjal now, the 999 field should ALWAYS be in the marcxml , right? but in case it's not, shouldn't any call to GetMarcBiblio check and insert it if it's missing?
16:12 hdl as far as i know, what you say was my first version of code.
16:12 hdl if gmcharlt did otherwise, he surely had good reasons.
16:14 hdl mmm what you say makes sense.

17:24 * cait likes brownies
17:24 chris_n well, in exchange for information on an html to text parser, of course ;-)
17:24 cait oh
17:24 cait so no brownie for me
17:25 cait I wondered what it would do
17:25 chris_n you may have one anyway
17:25 chris_n for being so helpful in general
17:25 cait oh, that's nice :)
17:25 * chris_n sets the whole dish out for #koha
17:34 jcamins chris_n: there must be a dehtml script.

19:31 oleonard I'm gone two hours and all I miss is brownies? Slow Monday.
19:32 cait :)
19:33 cait true
19:41 rangi morning
19:41 oleonard Hi rangi
19:41 oleonard Now that rangi is here we can be done with this slow Monday and start on Tuesday.
19:42 rangi Hehe
19:42 rangi http://coderwall.com/ranginui
19:43 wizzyrea lol wow
19:44 rangi silly but fun
19:45 cait morning rangi
19:46 rangi hi cait
19:51 oleonard rangi: You left something out: http://screencast.com/t/wYdrQulXj
19:51 cait rofl
19:51 cait rangi?
19:51 wahanui I LIKE ALMONDS! HAVE SOME NUTS!
19:52 rangi Hehe
19:52 wizzyrea ok that made me laugh
19:53 * wizzyrea nominates oleonard as designer of the Koha badges.
19:53 wizzyrea we could have the first gamified OPAC
19:54 rangi henry bankshead had that idea
19:54 rangi karma for patrons
19:54 wahanui patrons has neutral karma
19:55 rangi we should do it, it would rule!
19:55 cait hehe
19:55 cait koha badges sounds nice too
19:56 rangi yep u get badges to reflect how u earnt karma
19:56 rangi 100 issues without an overdue
19:56 rangi etc
19:56 wizzyrea x number of "classic" authors read
19:56 wizzyrea library achievements
19:56 rangi would be all kinda fun
19:57 wizzyrea oh oh, read x british authors, get the "god save the queen" badge
19:57 rangi Hehe
19:57 rangi yep
19:58 wizzyrea the data you need to quantify that kind of thing should be in marc, right?
19:58 rangi read rand, get mini world destroyer badge
19:58 wizzyrea ^^ LOL
19:58 rangi yup
19:58 cait hehe
19:58 cait endless possibilities
19:59 rangi would be very cool for publics and schools
19:59 rangi ok my stop bbiab
19:59 wizzyrea oh yea, that would be awesome
19:59 oleonard I could check out the complete works of Dickens and return them the next day unread.
20:00 oleonard ...not that my director would mind the stats on that kind of gaming.
20:00 wizzyrea just like you can game foursquare :P
20:00 rangi ud been in the lib twice
20:00 rangi for that
20:00 cait hm
20:00 rangi its all good
20:00 rangi brb
20:00 wizzyrea yea, I mean, you get people coming in just to get library badges
20:01 wizzyrea that's... that's epic marketing.
20:01 wizzyrea i mean really.
20:01 wizzyrea this must happen.
20:01 slef wizzyrea: errr, having British republicans count towards a "god save the queen" badge may be a bit odd. How about "keep calm and carry on"?
20:02 wizzyrea I like that too!
20:02 slef (ok, it has a crown on it, but it's still cool ;-) )
20:02 wizzyrea hehe
20:02 wizzyrea yours is better actually
20:02 slef God save the Queen... because no-one else will!
20:03 * slef wanders off to sharpen the pike ^W^W^W cook dinner
20:03 cait ^W^W?
20:03 wizzyrea haha
20:03 wizzyrea http://maniacdev.com/2011/05/open-source-game-center-achievement-notification-popup-generator/
20:04 slef cait: delete-word
20:04 * cait was thinking about a callnumber blinking and the first to get the book gets a badge...
20:04 wizzyrea hee
20:04 slef cait: try it in a bash prompt some time.
20:04 wizzyrea "book of the day"
20:04 cait slef: is something going to explode?
20:04 wizzyrea or "section of the day"
20:05 cait wizzyrea: but could perhaps lead to not so pretty results...
20:05 slef cait: not as long as you have a word on the command line to feed it
20:05 slef cait: and that's control-W not a ^ and a W
20:05 wizzyrea well, that's why I thought maybe "section" instead of "specific item"
20:05 cait trying
20:05 cait but perhaps I am too tired
20:05 slef do German keyboards still label ctrl as strg or something?
20:05 cait yep
20:06 slef cool
20:06 cait strg = steuerung I think
20:06 cait or whatever
20:06 cait my word vanishes?
20:06 cait oh
20:06 slef right... I'm going to steuerung some dinner.
20:06 cait it deleted the last word from the line?
20:07 slef yes
20:07 slef you can bring it back with ^Y
20:07 slef (paste/yank)
20:07 slef don't confuse delete-word (^W) with control-alt-delete-W which is delete-world
20:08 rangi back
20:08 * cait make snotes ;)
20:08 cait wb rangi
20:10 cait I am tepted to try it
20:10 cait hi magnuse
20:10 magnuse kia ora cait & #koha
20:11 wizzyrea ok... so now i'm curious about achievement systems, check this out: http://www.reedolsen.com/how-to-develop-achievements-for-iphone-games/ (ignore the fact that it's for iphone games, the theory remains)
20:11 wizzyrea think about how much we already track
20:12 * magnuse is looking forward to reading http://oreilly.com/catalog/0636920014614
20:12 wizzyrea OOo!
20:12 wizzyrea good one
20:12 wizzyrea (seriously, no other ILS does this, right?)
20:12 magnuse not that i have heard of!
20:13 rangi nope itd be a first i think
20:13 magnuse and how hard can it be? ;-)
20:13 wizzyrea HA
20:13 wizzyrea it's just a database, right?
20:13 magnuse with crazy rules...
20:14 * wizzyrea cackles evilly
20:14 magnuse and...
20:14 cait hehe
20:14 magnuse @quote get 123
20:14 huginn magnuse: Quote #123: "rangi: #thingsihavelearnt if there is a mad scheme a library somewhere will be doing it ... except madder" (added by wizzyrea at 09:20 PM, March 30, 2011)
20:14 cait enh bug? :)
20:14 oleonard That usually works.
20:14 wizzyrea RFC, lol.
20:15 magnuse in norway we say that good preparations is half the work, so...
20:15 magnuse well, a wiki page for doodling won't hurt
20:15 rangi id do enh bug, and a proof of concept and let the rfc grow from there
20:15 rangi overspeccing is the death of innovation :)
20:15 wizzyrea yes to all of that
20:15 cait :)
20:18 * magnuse wasn't thinking of a spec, more a place to share ideas...
20:18 wizzyrea I've started one
20:18 magnuse yay!
20:23 wizzyrea http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Gamifying_the_ILS
20:23 wizzyrea it's messy
20:23 huginn New commit(s) needsignoff: [Bug 2539] kohaspsuggest is deprecated, notes outmoded <http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=2539>
20:25 bencahill is there anything complicated in transferring a koha install? I just tried, but I'm missing something...
20:26 bencahill db dump/import, copied /etc/koha, configured apache, and setup zebrasrv's daemon
20:26 bencahill started everything, and staring at a dir listing...
20:27 * magnuse puts a big bowl of freshly made wild-raspberry-ice-cream in the middle of #koha and wanders off to eat the rest of it...
20:28 cait oooh
20:29 wizzyrea !
20:29 bencahill nvm, koha-httpd.conf was marked as executable, and apache probably didn't like that...all good now! :-D
20:29 wizzyrea yay!
20:29 bencahill my fault for transferring data using a samba share
20:30 bencahill but nonetheless, quite an easy transition!
20:35 bencahill am I supposed to have a /var/lock/koha dir?
20:37 bencahill I remember setting ownership to koha:koha on /var/lock/koha/zebradb/ , but I don't have such a dir here?
20:37 wizzyrea magnuse: http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Gamifying_the_ILS
20:38 sekjal nice!
20:39 sekjal I should pass that to hankbank; he was talking about a Karma system earlier, and that could dovetail right in
20:41 cait bencahill: did you transfer a dev install?
20:42 cait hm etc/koha looks like a standard install, so you might be missing files form other directories I think
20:43 bencahill cait: no
20:43 bencahill cait: yeah, I didn't copy the /var/lib/koha or /var/lock/koha dirs...
20:51 rangi release day today eh?
21:38 rangi coffee time, bbiab
21:51 cait mmh coffee
21:51 rangi back
21:57 cait hmm
21:57 cait What's the problem here?
21:58 cait <option value="[% frameworkcodeloo.value %]" [% frameworkcodeloo.selected %]>
21:58 cait [% frameworkcodeloo.frameworktext %]
21:58 cait </option>
21:59 cait class="hilighted"?
22:00 rangi ?
22:01 cait the script tells me I have to fix something in the option thing
22:02 cait but I don't see a directive there
22:02 cait and the other is only something I wondered, the class is named highlighted in other places
22:05 cait ok, will ignore it for now
22:06 libsysguy so I wrote a script to parse a CSV of subscriptions and insert them into the db but when i click the titles I don't get an option to edit them individually
22:06 libsysguy did I forget to insert something somewhere?
22:09 cait what do youmean you don't get an option to edit?
22:10 libsysguy if I click a title typically there is an option to edit the subscription right next to the button to add a new subscription
22:10 libsysguy but there is also no information in the subscription when you click into it
22:10 cait hm
22:10 cait have you tried adding a subscription manually and compare?
22:10 libsysguy so maybe i need to poke some data somewhere else in the DB
22:11 libsysguy yes. I got all the fields correct in the subscription table
22:11 cait which tables have you filled with data?
22:11 libsysguy but i didn't insert into the subscriptionhistory table
22:11 libsysguy just subscription
22:12 cait hm
22:12 cait perhaps you also need serials and serialitems
22:12 cait a first predicted volume maybe?
22:12 libsysguy perhaps
22:12 libsysguy i bet that is it

23:16 eythian hi cait
23:16 mtj me? or you?

23:39 mtj fyi, i updated the bug... including a deserved apology
23:42 eythian heh :)
23:44 eythian I'm going to push this one up in the next hour or so because I need to get it in for a couple of clients, but we can probably put your stuff on top as patches afterwards without too much difficulty.
