00:47 brendan heya chris
00:55 gmcharlt_ hi brendan
00:56 brendan hi gmcharlt_ - see you at ALA in a few days :)
00:56 gmcharlt_ indeed
00:56 gmcharlt_ how's the booth looking?
00:57 brendan great - that's all Nate's department
00:57 brendan no big tree though ;)
00:58 gmcharlt_ heh
00:58 gmcharlt_ no big tree for us either, this time
01:05 brendan how am I going to find you all?
01:05 brendan I guess I'll have to rely on booth numbers
01:14 chris :)

01:16 wasabi i'm in the middle of a tricky zebra issue...
01:18 wasabi ... trying to work out why a title-search on a single chinese character, returns a result *without* that character in the $TITLE string
01:19 wasabi ahh, its a subtle mapping issue, in the zebra *chr* files
01:24 chris wb wizzyrea_
01:29 wasabi hmmmm, it looks like '宮' gets mapped to '中' in the zebra *chr* files
01:30 * wasabi finds the needle in the haystack...
01:31 wizzyrea_ ty ty
01:35 reed robin is the king of freaky unicode issues, he might can help
01:35 reed (at least he seems to be able to generate a lot of them)
01:44 wasabi heh, thanx reed
02:36 wasabi hmm, the zebra-searching issue continues...
02:37 wasabi i'm testing on a small 500 bib set
02:38 wasabi and a title-search for '中' returns 3 results
02:39 wasabi one result's title is simply 'Favourite Philippine folk songs [sound recording]'
02:39 wasabi why zebra returned that result is a mystery to me
02:40 chris you have totally flushed the index, ie, dropped and recreated it?
02:40 wasabi yep 'rebuild_zebra.pl -r -b -v -x'
02:40 wasabi -r is reset
02:41 chris sometimes, not always, it doesnt work
02:41 wasabi aaah
02:41 chris http://koha-community.org/documentation/faq/searching/#5
02:42 chris might not fix anything, but might be worth a try
02:42 wasabi very nice
02:42 wasabi ok, ill retest, doing that
02:49 wasabi still no change - for now.. :/

02:52 wasabi http://vm7.kohaaloha.com/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?idx=ti&q=%E4%B8%AD
02:52 chris i see why the middle one matches
02:53 wasabi yah ;) , but the other two... ?!
02:53 chris theres not something else in the marc .. thats not viewable in the web view, ie, have you checked the marcxml ?
02:53 wasabi zebrasrv says....
02:53 wasabi zebrasrv(46) [log] dict_lookup_grep: (\x019)(\xE4\xB8\xAD.*)
02:54 wasabi yes, i generally eyeballed the marcxml
02:54 chris ok
02:55 chris is it that *
02:55 wasabi but not for records 1-3 yet..
02:55 chris in your options
02:55 chris try turning stemming off?
02:55 wasabi aah, click
02:56 wasabi zebra's doing clever stemming/fuzzy stuff ?
02:56 chris thats my guess
02:56 chris you should be able to turn that off in sysprefs
02:56 wasabi yeah, makes sense
02:57 wasabi ta, ill do that now..
02:57 chris good luck
02:58 wasabi thanx again for the brain-slap!
03:00 Amit heya chris
03:00 chris hi Amit
03:04 wasabi ive flicked OFF QueryStemming, QueryWeightFields, QueryFuzzy sysprefs
03:05 wasabi still the same 3 results
03:06 wasabi and still the same search-request to zebra
03:06 wasabi 15:12:12-22/06 zebrasrv(55) [log] dict_lookup_grep: (\x019)(\xE4\xB8\xAD.*)
03:06 wasabi 15:12:12-22/06 zebrasrv(55) [request] Search biblios OK 3 1 1+0 RPN @attrset Bib-1 @attr 1=4 @attr 4=6 @attr 5=1 中
03:06 chris im out of ideas
03:06 wasabi yeah, me too - for now at least
03:07 wasabi at least it's an easy to replicate search-glitch
03:08 wasabi which means more people can observe/poke at it
03:17 * wasabi waves at amit
03:17 Amit heya wasabi(mason)

18:19 jwagner Mathieu, what version of Koha, and are you using XSLT for the display?

18:49 jdavidb hi, cait! :)
18:56 |Lupin| hello there
18:57 cait hi jdavidb
18:57 cait hi |Lupin|!
18:58 cait now i have scared him away :)
19:00 |Lupin| hi cait :)
19:10 reva chris_n: hello again from Antigua; have a quick question: When I was trying to use the demo for Koha provided by Liblime, I was not able to value in the author field. This happened once before and I found the solution on the forum from someone who had the same issue. As far as I can recall I had turn something on (or off) in the Admininstration part of the demo. Would you know, or could you find out from someone there, please? Thank
19:15 chris_n reva: it sounds like an syspref dealing with authorities, however I"m not sure about the demos by LibLime and I don't have any association with them so you'll have to find out from them from another route
19:15 chris_n sorry
19:19 reva chris_n: ok thanks, Your answer seems correct about turning some option on in Authorities. I searched for the same solution I found about a month back, but I am not stumbling upon it today:(. Just to let you know, we at the Antigua and Barbuda Bureau of Standards have opted to go with a Koa Live CD install:). Hope all of that will go well for us.
19:20 cait reva: there is a koha demo available at bywater solutions too and I think you can perhaps find your answer in one of the faqs on the koha-community.org site
19:21 reva cait: thanks for the info. I will try bywater faq and see.
19:21 cait different things, give me aminute
19:22 cait there is a link to the demos at koha-community.org
19:22 cait Im not sure which version the demos at liblime are, but perhaps you want to compare
19:23 cait and the faq is here: http://koha-community.org/documentation/faq/cataloging/#7
19:23 wizzyrea_ 3.01.00.039 with LibLime Enterprise Koha build: 4.0100009
19:23 wizzyrea_ is what their demo says
19:23 wizzyrea_ so not really koha at all, strictly speaking.
19:23 reva cait: I was using the express staff client demo. Ok thanks for the ready link, I will try it now.
19:24 wizzyrea_ express is
19:24 wizzyrea_ 3.01.00.032
19:25 wizzyrea_ which would be an older stable release
19:26 sekjal the demo hosted by ByWater Solutions is running version 3.01.00.136
19:26 sekjal I should really update that... I'm three db revisions behind
19:27 brendan I think I just updated it two days ago
19:27 wizzyrea_ hehe
19:27 sekjal nice, thanks brendan
19:28 pianohack Hahaha, our stable is still on .041
19:28 pianohack Just barely beating out LibLime!
19:28 wizzyrea_ heh
19:28 wizzyrea_ ours is only slightly ahead of LEK
19:28 wizzyrea_ it's like, the LEK jumping off point
19:29 pianohack well, you have a... reason
19:29 wizzyrea_ heh
19:29 pianohack Until I got started on an earnest attempt to get everything submitted for our next koha supporter's sake this last month, I hadn't touched our install in months
19:30 pianohack Too many fast-coded, fragile modifications that broke after the last insufficiently tested rebase
19:30 wizzyrea_ really interesting discussion on the dev list re: the biblibre/co-op situation
19:30 wizzyrea_ interestingto watch
19:34 chris_n interesting and good imho
19:34 cait but a lot of work to do for 3.4
19:34 reva chris_n and cait: yeah, setting BibAddsAuthorities to ON lets me enter the Person Name, etc. in their fields. Thanks.
19:34 cait reva: :)

19:36 ___ there we go

19:37 wizzyrea Interesting that the | doesn't have the same effect as the _
19:37 chris_n yeah
19:39 chris_n I think the biblibre/co-op problems have good solutions and hashing through them will help avoid similar problems in the future
19:40 chris_n they are good growing pains
19:40 wizzyrea well there are applications there for every support provider, I think
19:40 wizzyrea and situations I think they all have gotten into, give or take
19:40 chris_n and I think they are to be commended for their transparency
19:40 wizzyrea ya, I like that

21:33 zevlag I've inherited 5 koha servers, and I'm just inventoring my systems, and it looks like we are running version 3.01.00.037, I see at koha.org that latest release is 3.0.6, so I'm not sure where my version fits in.
21:34 cait 3.01 is means that your install is not a released stable version but an install from master branch for 3.2
21:36 zevlag *nod*
21:36 zevlag how stable is the 3.2 branch/trunk?
21:37 chris pretty stable, it is due for a beta release soon
21:37 cait we are in production with 3.1.00.61
21:38 cait and its pretty stable
21:38 chris the latest version is 3.01.00.136 (i think)
21:38 zevlag ok
21:39 zevlag Are upgrades as simple a 'git pull'?
21:39 zevlag how are datbases changes managed?
21:40 chris it will automatically spot the version has changed and redirect you to the webiinstaller where it can upgrade
21:40 chris of course, do not do this on a production system
21:40 chris without testing it first :)
21:42 zevlag *nod*
21:42 zevlag where is the best documentation on koha? wiki.koha.org seems to be dead
21:43 chris yeah all the www.koha-community.org
21:43 chris and wiki.koha-community.org
