haven't needed to keep current state, so not sure what the best way is to stop it it - I think if you do CTRL +C before you shut down your laptop, then you should be fine with the up command |

not that I run anything in production, but I think you have to backup 1) the database 2) your instance configurations (if you use packages these would be under /etc/koha/sites 3) any themes and changes to the Koha files (maybe manage these using git?) 4) any uploaded files 5) any customised plugins |

bdonnahue: looks like uploads are stored in /var/lib/koha/kohadev/uploads (this is the default in an instance's configuration file) - I think that this includes cover images, as well as any other files uploaded |
